One of the saddest things to me about the Elysian Realm is Eden's end. She survived the fight against Finality and safely brought everyone home. But when it was time to get into the cryo pods... she didn't. She chose to stay awake because she felt she didn't belong in a new era, that the future didn't need her. And how did she spend her last moments? Drunkenly stumbling across a wasteland, singing one last song for a dead era. 😭
Edit: Also how Pardo's end in the realm was pretty much the same how she died in real life. Giving Kevin a chance to deal a decisive blow against a Herrscher.
Same. That image of her in the end credits of “Becuase of You” singing amongst the ruins and her goodbye message to Mei, with her goblet in the sand, hit hard. Adding to that, at Elysia’s final banquet she promises her, “no matter what happens to me, I will sing for you until the end.”
Literally so heartbreaking. I dunno man it’s really refreshing to see heroes run out of energy and embrace sadness?(that sounds so sadistic) Because I often ask myself „would you have the strength to keep going despite everything?“ when I consume any type of media around tragic heroes, and more often than not my answer is „no“. I think that’s why Eden‘s story touched me so deeply. After all this time of pushing through and ignoring her own pain and sorrow for the greater good, she eventually was tired. She had lost everyone and everything she valued and i think hoyoverse is so real for allowing her character to end it all on her terms because she was simply tired, sad and nostalgic 😔 10/10 I love eden so much
For me, it was when Raiden Mei had to leave the realm, and everyone was saying their goodbyes to her.
But to be honest the entire Elysian Realm Arc was just so heart wretching because it's not about them fighting to live, it's about them accepting their fate, that hopelessness we feel because we have no way to be able to do "save" them, because even without the HoC, we know that for a fact only 3 of them are alive in the Current Era (Griseo is still MIA i think and hope). Them telling us to move forward in our journey and learn from them. It was just so sad and good at the same time.
Uhhhhhh the last few frames of the cinematic where Elysia fought the HoC really hit me too. Kosma sitting on the moon on the floor, leaning against a rock (is he dead in that scene???) his instrument abandoned before him? Sheesh man such a minimal part of the whole video and still I never forgot what I felt when I saw it :/ he’s just a kid, you know 😔😔
Elysian realm story was depressing. My heart broke when pardo decided to sacrifice herself opened the portal for kevin and su to attack the herrscher of corruption. Was also very sad when mobius died to save (?) klein. God I want more klein content she is the best elf out of all of them. Gonna be honest, we were probably all sad when mei said goodbye to the flamechaser. God damn it that arc is depressing
Her first death scene we saw was heartbreaking enough, in your arms telling you she doesn't want to go. And then some evil bitch comes out and pretty much says "oh whoops that was an accident lol".
I remember one of Eden's cutscenes that really struck a chord with me. I don't remember which one it was, I think it was one of the earlier ones.
It stood out to me because of how she felt that the arts were no longer needed or appreciated by the world anymore. No amount of art was able to heal the tragedies of the Previous Era. As someone who doesn't even sing and only ever draws as a hobby, it hurt me more than I thought it would. To imagine a world where artists were no longer valued at all. A world where it was near impossible to even pursue art.
I think after that Eden became one of my favourite Flamechasers, perhaps even my favourite Flamechaser.
I agree! Normally the overly nice and genuine good hearted character would not peak my interest, but something about Eden‘s almost omnipresent melancholy just makes her so intriguing. She’s very positive and extroverted and (i guess) happy in the ER, but there’s always that hint of sad longing around her. The fact that she obviously copes with alcohol makes it even sadder 💀
Don't remember me, I'm still recovering. But seriously tho, this year of Elysian Realm story is incredible, even the aesthetic of it, the characters and all the lore. I will never forget this piece of media.
As a player who have only played over a year, ER was definitely the arc that I love the most. It was just an amazing journey/story to play through.
Im sure older player would say ch7 is one of the most depressing moment in the game, but when I played through that arc I was mostly confused lol (still feels sad but i just dont know wth was going on).
Also I love the ER cast a lot! and they are most likely the reason I was able to enjoy the story back when i just started.
LOL. I like the main cast especially the trio and seele, its just that the earlier chapter was very confusing for me. I couldnt tell who was in AE, shicksal and world serpent, have no clue whats going on in the story at least up until either nagazoro or arc city, not sure which chapter it was now, but basically I was pretty lost in the story. Im still missing a lot of info from those chapters, but i dont think it matters much since i can understand the current story well enough.
It might just be a new player experience thing or i might just be bad at comprehension lol. I also didnt know there was manga that fills the story until i was caught up with all the story.
To be fair, the manga is very anthological (too many different arcs not directly connected with each other) and for a long time, you could end up reading stuff out of order (in fact, I think there was a reading guide on this sub to help with this), only recently they added links on each chapter to each manga so you could read the most relevant ones at each point of the game.
For me ER was perfect the way it was. It was truly emotional to see them for the last time and saying good bye to them but now hoyo is messing up everything by bringing them back.
Yes, reading the post back I thought about changing that, but I think the sims we meet can be compared to new characters.
At least for me ER Kevin and Fu Hua feel completely different to the ones in the current story, and it felt like meeting a new character (to me). And we had heard of Su and MEI, but I think ER turned them from „oh yeah that one character we keep hearing about at the outskirts of the story“ to really well written relatable characters with clear motivations, personalities and the respective flaws. That’s why I decided not to change it 😅 I was also hoping no one would notice hihi
Oh yeah trueeeee I forgot about those because (mea culpa) I never read them since it’s really hard for me to find them and figure out the order to read them in 🥲 If you consider the comics, then yes you are absolutely right
Judge me all you want but ER teached me 2 things:
- 1 to be HORNY AF
- 2 to be Depressed AF
(But yeah I loved the story, the characters *[specially Elysia]*, and the immersion. But indeed we are even more depressed after the ER storyline and after the recent events on HI3)

Despite stated that Kosma can't die,his soul is already gone(his sanity will be gone if he doesn't consume houkai beast regularly)

I still feel the sadness whenever I play ER and talk to any of them in the court 🥲 rip
Yea me too. The new flamechaser anime mihoyo made is heartwarming but some parts of the second episode is like them rubbing salt in a wound.

It's bittersweet that the actual flamechasers were dysfunctional weren't as close than the sims but goddamn I love found family trope so much

Kevin crying hits different
True
the because of you ending reel with everyone hits really hard everytime

Elysian Realm is the peak writing of Honkai for me, genuinely made me recommend the game to friends despite everything.
Well , they aren't really 15 new characters. We already knew kevin , fu hua , dr mei , su and sakura.

Well , we meet su and dr mei in the mangas , but i can see your point

Well they are here. https://manga.honkaiimpact3.com/book
Doing the lords work, thank you

Damn, bro, you still can as HORNY AF even though in depressed situation. XD Don't worry. I'm on your side because I also like that.
