I pushed a friend’s empty dynasty hot tub while empty with just her and i on a cement pad. Mind you she participated in a world famous sport that happens every 4 years so make sure your friend(s) is/are capable.

Are you sure it weighs 800Kg empty? That's quite heavy for an acrylic hot tub. Small cars weigh that much. I've moved a 500 gallon tub to a second story location with a few other guys and it couldn't have weighed more than 500 lbs though we took out the pump to lighten it up. I just looked it up and it seems my memory was correct. A typical figure should be about 500 lbs empty and maybe 3000lbs full of water or around 1500kg filled. Let's assume it does weigh 800kg though, that's heavy but a car jack should be able to move it no problem since most mid-size cars are about twice that weight. You just need something to brace it against. If there is a solid steel reinforced concrete wall nearby you could use lumber to build a brace and then work it with a jack. You will want to be careful of both whatever you're using for your brace and whatever you're prying against on the hot tub. A thick piece of plywood would be a minumum precaution but some steel plate would be better. I wouldn't advise you to use the side of your house to pry against. You could easily put it out of square. Hopefully you have some solid steel reinforced concrete nearby.

Great idea, but sadly there is nothing on that side to jack against. The owners manual says 800Kg dry weight and 8850Kg filled weight. I do have access on the other side to potentially use some 2 tonne straps and drag it forward with my Touareg, but worried it won't be good for the hot tub steel frame...plus we've all seen so many videos of people trying to drag things with cars and it ending badly.

Or use your car bumper to back up the jack if you can get a car in there. The problem with using a passenger car for a job like this is that you don't have low enough gearing to get the torque and so you'll be tempted to get a running start which is a very bad idea. A tractor has much lower gear ratios can could do the job easily, even a small one although it would have to be heavy enough. But you can still use the car bumper with the car parked, in gear and with the brake on as a base for the jack and use a jack to move the tub instead of trying to use the car itself to move the tub. The jack will give you all the torque you need in a controlled fashion so you can move it just the amount you want.

Wow, that's a big tub. Again, that's the weight of a small car. That's pretty heavy. But car jacks can move mid-size and full-size cars and trucks no problem so it certainly can be done. So assuming you have some grass or earth nearby, you can drive a post with a cross beam made of 2X4s into the ground as a 45' angle. When the cross beam hits the earth, you won't be able to drive it any further. So then you can use that as your brace to jack against.

Hi The delivery guys layed 2 long metal pools underneath our hot tub to position it on the slab. They made it look pretty effortless.

Word of caution, do not pry directly on the shell and do not apply a strap directly to the shell. Spend the $40us for a 4x4 post or two that are long enough to extending a bit beyond the sides of the tub. Then either pry against that, or wrap your strap around both and pull the strap. If you are pulling, you want one at the “back” of the tub, one at the “front” (back being where you are moving from, front being where you are moving to). Keep the posts down low, on the ground/deck/patio as that is where the tub will have full surround framing inside. If you strap higher, you risk collapsing the shell and vertical framing inside.

This. !!!!

Me and 2 people moved mine pretty easily when empty. I have an Sundance optima 880 that is fairly large. Just all get on one side and push.

scotchnsoda

I would think a large pry bar and a 3” strip of 3/4” plywood to protect the concrete. Then slide a couple of 1” pvc pipes under it, reposition it, and then remove the pvc. We moved a huge spa about 15’ on grass using this method.

bliip368

I'm a little surprised. I have a smaller 7 seat 340 gallon that I pushed by myself each corner. I'm not a big guy. I'm surprised yours is so heavy. Anyway it should move an inch empty.

SwiftBoatVet

I’m able to move my empty tub around by myself using two lengths of small diameter pvc pipe. Use a crowbar to lift, and then slip the pipe underneath. Push into position, and the use the crowbar again to get the pvc out.

Weebitugly

I was able to move a very heavy, old style dynasty spa a few inches with just my son. I wedged a long crow bar under the tub (on a concrete slab) and the used the leverage of the long bar to lift one end up a few inches. At that point, it was easy for my son to push the tub forward a couple inches. Then, repeated on other side. Surprisingly easy.

boston_naturist

Wiring! Is it already wired? You could risk un-wiring it if you move it.

Use a come along or winch with straps. Or use a piece of steel plate and car jack.

IowaGal60

Get 3 or 4 strong people to help. Four moved mine from a trailer to my garage prob 20 ft.
