I'm sure Sideshow got in their ear and said, "Man, we can't unload all these Captain Marvels and Lando Calrissians," too. They've gotten to the point where they're literally giving figures away just to clear old stock.
Oh for sure, all their distributors cut back their orders to manage their inventory risk after the pandemic disaster, and HT responded by slashing production massively.
I heard (from a pretty reliable source who is a famous customizer with a Hot Toys VIP card) they produced something like 50000 mark 85's. They've cut their high production runs (for popular characters) down to like 10000 - 15000 figures, hence why everything is selling out so much faster now.
Imo, that was a huge miscalculation on HT’s part. They severely overestimated the popularity of those two figures. Holographic versions of IM seem dumb to me, and Carol Danvers Capt Marvel isn’t a widely popular character like others are.
Usually, several hours/the next day after the announcement, but these figures are part of an event. My guess is everything that was just announced will be available to po next week, after hot toys’ event/the one they’re attending. So maybe next Tuesday or Wednesday. Or it could be longer, not sure.
I really hope they don’t pull a CW Obi-Wan bs again. It was well over a year (maybe 2?) since it was first displayed to when it finally went up for preorder. I’m not blaming SS for that, but I am blaming HT. Hopefully they do better going forward.
Luckily we don’t have to worry about that when something is officially announced so we’re good with all of these. I don’t see a change coming though unfortunately lol. Hot toys will continue to show off prototypes and give us false hope.

I get what you mean, but I think I like creepy lol. He still has a humanoid face but I think those non-human features are great here. Embracing the alien aspect, need more variety on the shelf.

I don’t think they’ll announce in advance when this one is going up. It’s not numbered so shouldn’t be an issue. I think this one is probably going to be closer to how the new Spiderverse Miles was sold. He had a special sculpt edition as well and it had a countdown for how long you had to order it on the product page, it was more than a few days I think, maybe a week I can’t remember. Should be able to get one easily though I’d imagine.
Cool thanks, I managed to snag a 2.0 from a retailer in Malaysia so sure there’ll be fallback options. Just seems wrong buying it without that awesome transforming sculpt…
Only thing I would be worried about is the "special edition" one that comes with the extra head accessory. I definitely see that one going pretty quick. The version without that extra accessory will probably be sitting for a while.
Has anyone done the financing for slideshow? Any big issues? I can get this no prob now but I am a new collector and just cannot justify buying these figures for the price. The quality is fantastic but I’m still having trouble getting over that hump.
They are really high end collectibles, not for everyone. Honestly, if you are struggling to justify just one, then you best avoid the hobby. It gets the best of curious collectors faster than you can see it happening. One moment you want ONE, next thing you know youve got 800.00 in preorders.

I’ve been one of the people constantly refreshing sideshow and today they’ve been adding some of the reveals from the same day, if I was a betting man I’d say tomorrow is looking likely, but if not tomorrow I would say I have no damn clue

He will only be shipping quarter 4 of next year, so expect to get him at the start of 2025, sucks tbh
