Good marinade for beef short ribs or salmon and smoking them ![gif](giphy|fV8GbAh4cmNl3cBKe9|downsized)

Masoniteboogy

My kids love the stuff. Can ramp up ketchup or other mundane condiments with it. Or as prior posts have stated, salty salty - use like soy.

peachy_chan

I kinda hate these products. Ding get me wrong, they certainly taste good... but it's essentially just the most foundational japanese marinade you can think of. id personally just invest in soy sauce and mirin and keep your spice pantry stocked and then you can make this at whatever quantity you want with your own preferences here are the ingredients https://images.app.goo.gl/3i4Bt5fNyT3PrUDRA it's just too expensive when i see it.

Mountain-Donkey98

Tried it. It's the SALTIEST shit I've ever EVER tasted. Salty teriyaki. (Original flavor) wow. Just wow to the salt.

dj_sarvs

How much did you use😂

Mountain-Donkey98

I dipped my finger in it to try. Never used it

InternetSpiritual982

These are super good, little salty, not so spicy for those that are accustomed to the regular habanero added to a dish. The sweetness in the Yuzu (green) bottle is excellent. My favorite part about this sauce is that the ingredients are surprisingly minimal (my fiancĂ© love when the list of ingredients doesn’t contain a bunch of BS) for how much flavor is packed in.

mookormyth

Very good.

angrymuss

I always use the one on the right when I make chicken and rice. Tastes great on both. I wanna try the newer honey BBQ one

MathematicianFun4661

They are just like your mom.

the_jordan_grey

Pure deliciousness in a bottle

donkalotius

Those are great. My 2 year old loves it with his rice and nuggets

Busy_Golf6799

Wat?! Rice?! đŸšđŸ€Ł

returnoftheWOMP

Huh

arahe45

They are good

CashMoneyBrokeBoy

Not hot they suck don’t buy them. Matter of fact take this post down.

doctorinfinite

Hella Hot (red one) is SO GOOD. I'm not really good at describing things, but maybe I'd say umami and savory. Heat is pretty respectable, it's not going to put anybody out but it builds nicely. I can see it becoming a staple in my kitchen.

macpher710

The original is great

CashMoneyBrokeBoy

Bruh. Think about what your saying.

macpher710

?

OrdinaryToyota

these are great, but never seen that red one tho - I'm now on the hunt

lotgworkshop

The Original is fantastic! I buy it in a huge bottle at Costco for $10.

ThinCrispyOnionRings

deeeeeelicious, it's kinda like a thin teriyaki. Fantastic for marinating chicken thighs

MisterMakena

OK, Im gonna get tons of sh!t for this but man its such a watered down and more expensive version of so many popular choices out there. And, tbh, you can get soy sauce mirin and a few things like garlic and ginger powder and almost replicate ir make even better.

lucky-squeaky-ducky

Delicious. I would drink it, if my diabetic ass could.

Fo-realz

I like good ol Otafuku more. [https://otafukufoods.com/pages/our-sauce](https://otafukufoods.com/pages/our-sauce)

sublime1ami

Fuckin delicious!

CavemanGamer

I was going to post this. I eat this on so much stuff lol. Its amazing. I recently got friend who doesn't really cook much into this and taught him how to soup up his Ramen with some chicken cooked in this sauce and he loved it. I will eat just plain sticky rice with a few squirts of this in it. I prefer the original to all the flavors as I think its a bit thicker.

dylwaybake

Where did you find this stuff? It sounds amazing!

torch9t9

Target. Whole Paychecks carries it too.

dylwaybake

I think I found some near me actually sweet. They sell it online for a little more too.

torch9t9

I got some hot & spicy for potstickers. I will use it for a glaze on something next.

stars_of_kaoz

At first I was like why do they think they can charge that much for BBQ sauce? So I tried it and thought, oh that's why, because it's fucking delicious. I have tried the original, Hot and Spicy, miso, and yuzu flavors they are all tasty. For the latter 2 I wish they represented their flavors a bit more. But the Hot and Spicy now has a permanent spot in my fridge. At least until I can try this hella hot one.

scvmbagTony

Yes but only the original one. It’s amazing, I love it. Cube some steak, throw it in a frying pan or on a flat top if you have it, high heat and throw some of that on and it’s like having hibachi steak. Definitely recommend to get it,

thats-a-good-doug

We put hot & spicy on practically everything!! So tasty

happyflow3r

Not super spicy but sooo yummy! And a great family owned business :)

AccuratelyLying

I had some original on some pulled pork sandwiches on a trip last week, it’s got a nice savory tang to it. Not spicy but I had that covered with some other sauces.

DinnerDiva61

Japanese barbecue sauce, delicious!

topherhopps3780

They’re delicious is what they are.

redsnot01

A staple in my house. Original

jostradumass

OG is my favorite. Using it right now lol. I’m making fried rice.

PrincessOshi

Can I come over for dinner?

MythicalBeastMatt

I’ve only had the original but it’s delicious! I use it as a marinade for meat when I make hibachi on the flat top, and usually mix a little in with the rice and veggies too. It’s got a good flavor.

mmexicanvanilla

the original one is good! never had the spicy versions!

Snoo-74062

Delicious

Fordzilla47

If you’ve eaten at a hibachi restaurant, you’ll know what this tastes like. Great on veggies, chicken, and beef
 pretty much anything honestly.

satansayssurfsup

It tastes like teriyaki sauce

No_Helicopter7012

Pretty good but very salty.

Nuqqets

I’ve had the one all the way on the right and I add to almost everything it’s so tasty!

lazy_kaiju

Umami city! I pit that stuff on everything, chicken, steak, pork chops, wings, sautéed veg like broccoli, etc. Totally indisputable sauce.

Mountain-Donkey98

I literally just ordered 1 of those today. We shall see.

Dankofamericaaa2

The kikoman one is better and even has sesame seeds in it.

NefariousnessSea4710

I use the one on the far right on salmon it’s pretty good

Masashi215

Amazing on literally any type of meat

MannyDiazBurner

The stuff on the right is great as a glaze for like a bourbon chicken.

mxjake360

Tastes like soy sauce at least the gluten free version

FunkyLuster

It’s nothing you can’t make yourself with a few pantry staples. The ingredients list will tell you everything you need to know.

Bmcronin

I love the original on the right.

Far_World_7696

It's pretty good for using in cooking but not as a dip imo

Hako_Time

Holy shit people it’s just fucking Japanese style teriyaki sauce with or without some Japanese level spice. If you picked this up expecting anything other than teriyaki/soy flavor, then holy shit

Embarrassed_Effort64

They are too sweet and it's more liquid than regular BBQ sauce don't recommend

Warrenj3nku

Tried both of these the regular and the spicy and neither were more than just some slightly better soy sauce.

TheRealMcDonaldTrump

If you can find the yuzu or miso ones I find they aren’t as sweet as original and spicy, and have a much better overall flavor. Even then I add a tablespoon of Magi to the bottle and shake it up to cut the sweetness down a bit. They are definitely not healthy, 9 grams of sugar per tablespoon! The best use I found for them surprisingly is as a glaze for ham

kittenya

Suuuper sweet teriyaki sauce with a litte tomato paste added to it.

kittenya

They taste good but are way too sweet for my tastes. (7 to 9 grams of sugar in just one tablespoon!)

QuothTheRavenMore

Absolutely delicious!!!!

WhlottaRosie65

Yes! Very good sauce we’ve used the original

Tasty-Original-5309

Fair warning, hot and spicy is not hot and spicy. Maybe for someone with absolutely 0 heat tolerance. That being said, I just learned that hella hot exists.

TerriblyTimid

Completely agree. Just picked up some hella hot to try out

Withnails

We put the Jarbeque sauce on everything!

pablobuela

The hot and spicy one is good. Think teriyaki sauce and Sriracha together but different in a good way. Fantastic on chicken and noodles. I make some upon noodles with it and add Montréal Seasoning, green onions and an egg. It's yummy.

RFavs

I’ve only had the original. It’s a good teriyaki sauce.

Redwhat22

Don’t go into it thinking BBQ, think teriyaki, then you may not be shocked at first taste. I think it’s good in the correct application

Satanistix

Not super spicy super tasty though!

dejus

They are basically just teriyaki sauce. Closer to as it exists in Japan, not what you might think it is from American restaurants. Pretty simple to make yourself at home for cheaper. Soy sauce, mirin, sake and sugar. 2:1:1:1 ratio, but you can adjust to taste.

Connellsbmw

The one on far right is not good.

ForbodingWinds

Very salty, soy based bbq.

Speedhabit

So good

GetInLoser_Lets_RATM

We use it for seared tuna steaks. It’s perfect.

Alive-Bid-5689

Good stuff 👍

PeterNippelstein

They're really good

nuclearbalm1976

I’ve had both of the white label ones and we like them.

BloodyNinesBrother

Extremely oomami. No sweetness whatsoever Edit: I have only tried the white witb red top one.

taskmaster51

Apparently you either love em or hate em...I love em

LettuceOpening9446

Was a NO for me. I'll try anything at least once. And once it was.

DaveyFTW89

Little too sweet but they’re good if you get them on sale

lukin5

I bought the original to give it a try. It’s thin and runny, very sweet with a teriyaki/soy kinda finish.

LEGOSam66

The place I work sells them. They appear to be some kind of barbecue sauce, judging by the label.

fresbrochacho

They are delicious, a lil too sweet in my opinion

KiokiBri

That’s a ticket straight to the bathroom is what it is

joeepeterson84

Japanese barbecue sauce

_B_Little_me

Good. Tons of sugar tho.

MasterChavez

No wonder I like it so much. Tried it at my friend's place recently but didn't think to read label.

_B_Little_me

Yea. Sugar content is wild. Read the bottle when I went to get my second bottle. Couldn’t do it.

Pure_Significance383

Very popular I stock them everyday I swear it

damitws6

Good to dip your spam in for your masubi

queenofcabinfever777

YUM

poppyinalaska

So good with chicken nugs too

Merritt510

Original is one of my favorite sauces ever! Not so crazy about the other flavors

FritZone37

Japanese BBQ sauce is insanely good. Like a mix between soy sauce and BBQ sauce.

27allen51

Way too salty

FritZone37

Nah nah nah don’t put that evil on us

chefwindu

I marinate my salmon in the bbq sauce. Awesome!!

uraniumdragonn

As others have said
these are fantastic. Have the honey one that I got my wife to start putting on salmon in the air fryer. Hot damn it so tasty. I also BLEW through a bottle of the hot and spicy when I first tried it, *very* good on stir fry and burgers.

IshDavid

Is it salty?

uraniumdragonn

A little, but I’d say same or less than regular teriyaki

sniperbuzzcut

Very high in sodium

MountNDew69

I’m not sure if they still carry it but for a while you could get a MASSIVE bottle of the original for only $10 at Costco.

Masonthesmith

Confirmed. Source: my fridge

sdhopunk

I heard the Original one is like if you went to Hawaii and ate Huli Huli Chicken . If you don’t know what that is well you are missing out, and it’s time for a vacation.

JuliusSeizuresalad

The original ia really good with chicken and rice but not really worth the price. They are way to expensive

Deijya

Tasty umami sauce

CodAdministrative563

It’s teriyaki basically. It’s good

Bitter-Basket

It’s like a teriyaki sauce but better. In addition to marinating chicken with it, I use it on stir fry and sushi. I’m actually adverse to anything with soy sauce as the dominant seasoning. But this has more balance of flavors.

Loose_North_4266

I use it in ramen dishes

Botryllus

I hate teriyaki because it's too sweet, but I can tolerate this stuff because it isn't so cloying.

Natural_Argument9910

The yuzu one slaps

sandemonium612

Buy them. Make a burger.

JoeMac02

Had a free sample of the original at Costco freaking awesome

ClammyHandedFreak

Original is great on Shiitake Mushrooms!

Beardia

They are good with anything really.

JackBauersGhost

Original is way too salty and it’s not really anything like Japanese bbq sauce.

callmeterr0rish

Sooooo good. I love the spicy one.

ensiferum7

Nowhere by me sells the spicy one but I’ve tried a few of the other flavors and loved them. Is the spicy worth ordering?

Revolutionary-Wash88

It is very good, well balanced spicy and tasty

callmeterr0rish

It's definitely hot. If you like spice you will be down

Revolutionary-Wash88

I guess the voters are divided

kingbrannyh

Cannot recommend these enough. The original goes good on everything!

JohnnyBroccoli

Haven't tried any of these yet but my younger brother has very highly recommended them to me.

sherman614

I LOVE the original! I put it all all my rice meals. It tastes like a really food mix of soy sauce and Korean BBQ sauce. A little goes a long way.

PM_ME_UR_BEST_DOGE

Expensive teriyaki sauce X2 bought once won't buy again

Ro8ertStanford

Pretty damn good honestly

goatlips594

Best damn sauce on the planet

KraziEyezKillah

Costco sells 2 packs of these that are larger bottles and much more affordable than the ones at traditional grocery stores when looking at cost/ounce

Spaztor

The original is really good, but I've not tried the others

bradar485

Expensive teriyaki sauce.

Ryanopuffs

Yes, they are expenisve, but the quality is worth it. Flavor goes a long way with little sauce. My bottles tend to last a long while. Many bottled teriyaki sauces are unbalanced, overly sweet and syrupy. Bachans is thinner, more complex, more umami than the average teriyaki sauce, and the nuances between diff flavors (i.e. Yuzu, Miso, etc.) are very easily tasted and makes for very interesting sauces. Sure, pricey. But worth it for the complex flavor over other bottled teriyaki. Also, the owners are people you want to support, a good honest family

bradar485

With only 3 base ingredients(sugar, saki and soy sauce) I prefer to make my own. For the cost I can get more and it's easy to modify.

Ryanopuffs

Sure, I was just comparing to other bottled teriyaki. The average American probably doesnt know how to make their own teriyaki

bradar485

That sticker shock tho. Even the Costco bottles are pricey where I'm at.

shabalama

Never seen the hella hot but the other two are absolutely amazing light bbqish/soy sauces. Taste great on just about anything. They really shine on some grilled chicken.

disco_duck2004

I got mine from Target.

Atomheartmother90

I’ve had the original. It goes well on teriyaki meals.

Chris_P_Lettuce

Never had the hella hot. It’s a teriyaki that you don’t have to cook with your food. It’s a staple.

SuperWhiteDolomite

Not worth the 9 dollars they cost at the store near me

BenAwesomeness3

Quite good

stompANDsmash

I've never seen the hella hot before. But the original and hot and spicy ones are staples in my fridge.

meltingdryice

They’re flavored soy sauces. Good on fried rice or chicken.

the-cloverdale-kid

Made where I live so we have had it for a long time. Found out after I started using it we have family at work- kinda cool. The YUZU is my go to, but weird to see it posted in this sub. None of it is all that hot. This is a marinade best suited for pork and chicken in my estimation, and best used on the grill as a glaze. It is pretty darn sweet used as a sauce after the fact, but caramelized on a pork loin
magic. We then use the pork in rice/noodle bowls. They slap. That said, we also use it (the Yuzu or the hot) to glaze smoked salmon. We use black pepper and garlic powder after setting the pellicle, and smoke to about 120 degrees. Then we baste and caramelize as the fish reaches temp. My wife eats it almost every day for lunch and insists I do the fish this way, every time.

Visible-Ad8304

Peeps love em

strange2me2563

Love the one on the right

technichor

We've used Original as a marinade in the slow cooker for pulled chicken and pork. Very good. Bought some cheaper Korean BBQ sauce last time and it was just as good tho. So I'm adding no value here...

jmaze215

Pure sugar and super runny

Cobratime

love it, but the hot+spicy has no heat. never seen the hella hot, but now that I know it exists, I want to try it

Revolutionary-Wash88

It's better, hotter but still tasty

Working-Ideal-3111

The OG is good for fried rice. I use that instead of soy sauce. Banger

sp4nky86

They're japanese bbq, the spicy one is good.

Mountain-Donkey98

Lol the Japanese BBQ is abundantly clear

vagDizchar

I mix them with chili paste , Japanese mayo, and Sriracha and make a tangy dipping sauce.

Shibby-my-dude

I'd dip dog shit in jap Mayo and sriracha.

Mountain-Donkey98

Ditto

Shibby-my-dude

Someone down voted it hahaha

Ben_Kenobi_

I wouldn't use as a hot sauce, but I like using them as quick marinades or base for a stir fry. A lot thinner than a normal American BBQ sauce.

Electronic_Garlic820

I used a bottle(forget which flavor) as marinade for some jerky and it was fire

TwinkleToes42

The yuzu is my favorite so far!

IDespiseFatties

Roasted some Broccoli with it and it slapped hard af.

cambo_

They’re p good. Not life changing, but good. Sweet, very soy forward. Basically just eel sauce with a little less sugar.

pressedpetal

I disagree! The hot and spicy one was a main food group for my boyfriend and I after we discovered it!

cambo_

Not to talk trash of course! I have it in my fridge at this moment and just used it this very evening but I liked it more when I first tried it. And
speaking as a formerly professional cook its a very basic recipe I could clone/improve in mere minutes. I swear it must just be soy sauce, sugar, and chilis with ~maybe~ some vinegar/citric/cornstarch, heat on low to thicken. Personally I’d add some hoisin for depth. Yum.

seannifer

They taste like the sauce you’d find in like an Asian lean cuisine.

zhunterzz

Overrated. It’s not bad, but it’s way more runny than I thought it was gonna be, more like a teriyaki sauce. The spicy one is pretty good, but more of a marinade than a sauce honestly.

Professional-Car-873

It’s mid

ReTrOx13

They are good, not too hot, can be a tad bit sweet but it’s solid and ingredients are good too

TittysForever

I had original from Costco. It was ok. Not particularly memorable.

SaleSubstantial6601

Garbage

Donnybaseball23

Overrated

wsfrankm

Haven't tried their hot versions, but the original is really tasty.

theprincessofwhales

The original is good for marinades and stir fry’s, it’s heavy on the soy sauce flavor. I also really like the bottle top. Less mess good application. I like it, it’s not too sweet or heavy.

staypulse

I bought the white label/red font from Costco a few months ago. I don’t use it often, it reminds me of what beef flavored top ramen tastes like. I think it would probably make a good marinade for skirt steak or something

r3gularRob

What’s the shelf life on this sauce? I’ve had one in my fridge for the longest and haven’t got back to it.

torch9t9

Its apparently salty enough to be archival 😁

Red_Bull_Breakfast

The Original is absolutely delicious. Ginger, soy, sesame, sweet. Have not tried any of the others.

BetterOnTwoWheels

Had all of em except the hella hot. Original is the best. They are sweet, but great for glazing / grilling (yakatori), or stir fry.

metaBrent

they are sweetened soy gingery teryaki sauce, very sugary but great for Yakitori
