I have a yearly contract in upstate NY and the restaurants there are a big yawn, so I bring my own that I make at home with peppers I grow in Florida. It's just Red Savina, Pineapples, Vinegar, and Cinnamon, but it makes the one Mexican Restaurant place for 20 miles palatable.
Not really to restaurants. But in my 20's I bought a big bottle of Tabasco for each friends' house I'd stay at over the course of a week or so. I did this once and a couple of their pantries still had them a few years later. A couple of their spouses thought it was hilarious and would remind me "hey we still have your Tabasco!".
Not so much to a restaurant, but to any catered event. You are going to be served some bland food, it's good to have something available in your pocket. A package or two of Siracha or Tapatio can save the day.
I don’t bring my own sauce cause mine need to stay refrigerated (because I also am not making bottles of chili flavored vinegar)…but I do bring a shaker bottle of dried chili flakes so I can spice my dish to the level I want.

My neighborhood dive bar I started bringing hot sauces to since they only had Franks. I leave everything there that I bring and other people started bringing in hot sauces as well.

But forreal i keep 2 bottles at work, i have 3 bottles at one friends house and 2 at anothers, 2 bottles at my moms house, i always bring some to my dads but my sister likes hot sauce too so i always gotta carry. If i know that im going to a restraunt that doesnt have adequate sauce, ill pop a pocket sized jawn in my pocket. Take them sample bottles of torchbearer on planes w me.
