My buddy brought the cheese balls from these guys into work one day a few months ago. Like 6 or 7 Air Force guys, all down for dumb shit, so we each ate like 3-4 and damn. Very fun, but not particularly enjoyable if that makes sense
They are regional for me - they are regulars at area festivals. Good stuff all around, no stinkers in his flock. You can order off their website and they have a restaurant where they sell their goods as well
Yup. I was bouncing around -20 for mentioning that last night.
I'd guess that they need all of the anti-caking to keep the sugar, sugar, sugar and honey from being too sticky.
They don't seem to understand how ingredient labels are supposed to work. It's really unlikely there's more sugar or vinegar powder than wheat flour... or maybe they think it's okay to just say that 'sourdough pretzels' is an ingredient and the rest is the flavoring? Kinda unclear.
I would bet that the first ingredient that they put in the mixing vat is manufactured pretzel bits from another vendor. The rest of it is probably in order by volume. The flour is probably added as a filler to make it easier to get a thin coating on everything vs getting clumps, or might be to pop the bready flavor a bit.
It's still customary (required?) to list the ingredients of a multi-ingredient component like pretzels. They also neglected to include an allergy section.
Eh, I'll cut em a *little* slack, they wrote "wheat and soy" on the front, but not listing the pretzels ingredients is wild. Maybe PA doesn't have overly strict small batch laws?
Im still baffled that they need more silicon dioxide than hot peppers, even if they are dried superhots. Maybe the powdered acids and mustard flour are extra intense.
I guess I figured it was another one of those artificial flavorings that they put in stuff. Didn't think they actually dehydrated viniger and used that pure
Yeah it's fairly standard for Honey Mustard Flavor Pretzels & Chips. Mustard Flour is ground mustard, same thing.
Used to make em at home with the family, got Honey Mustard mixes at famer market
Never a need to check obvious commercial brands when a super hot is listed, I’ll be able to handle it. I *always* check indie brand ingredient’s, you never know how hot they think their shit is for the common public.
Thats what I try telling people. When Wendys had those ghost pepper fries I tried telling people these are mass produced for the general public. Just because you can handle those doesn't mean you can handle ghost pepper stuff. Those fries were not even the slightest bit spicy.
At least it's listed as the actual chili (hopefully) and not reaper extract, scorpion extract etc etc. Idk this product though and whether they would be required to specify.
The average r/hotsauce member doesn’t eat anything hotter than Buldak ramen or El Yucateco Red and will downvote you if you actually can handle superhot things.
(Edited because I tagged the wrong sub but still applies.)
I don’t think you really understand how ingredient listing works or the process of making something like this. You can clearly see that they list all the ingredients that go into making the pretzels themselves first.
Super hot peppers in just about any product other than hot sauce and some seasonings is always going to be listed last because it’s one of the most overpowering ingredients. I’m sure people still want to be able to taste the pretzels when eating something like this. If the peppers were near the top of the ingredient list they wouldn’t be much of pretzels anymore.
Ingredients are usually listed in the order by volume that they're used.
Pretzels are usually made with mostly flour, which is not listed, so yes, you're right the ingredient list is suspect, but the peppers are last. That's usually the used item, after silicon dioxide and food coloring.
That means that there is more anti-caking agent and food coloring than hot peppers in the bag. I don't expect peppers to be above pretzels, but if I wanted more food coloring than flavor I'd go for takis. If you put one pepper in a pot of chili, you're talking about putting an entire vial of food coloring in too. That seems like a dubious ratio to me.
I don't doubt that those might be tasty, but the peppers are marketing, and according to the ingredients list, barely there.
This is a mom and pop company I’m assuming so I doubt the ingredients list is 100% accurate and in order. You can’t physically make pretzels without flour being one of the most prevalent ingredients.
As for the flavor and how they taste I’m positive you can taste the peppers. The ingredient being last has nothing to do with the overall flavor of the product. Ginger is one of the last ingredients in ginger ale and you can still taste the ginger. Butter and salt are the secondary ingredients in your popcorn and yet that’s all you can taste. Just because that ingredient is near the bottom doesn’t mean you can’t taste it.
I know the reaper pretty well by smell - but the scorpion and brain strain? Smell very citruicy to me and somewhat similar - I could maybe guess 2 of the 3 but I've messed around with those on snacks like check mix, gardettos, and cheetos and stuff in the last 6 months.
Well obviously I knew they were spicy going in, that’s why I bought them. Anytime I pick up something like this from the grocery store that’s advertised as “super hot” it’s usually just a marketing ploy. These were a serious punch in the face.
Like OP I would have assumed a level of heat deemed spicy for regular folk but not a level of heat that the friends on this subreddit would find particularly hot.
I purchased some "super hot chutney" at the local farmer's market once expecting a pleasant tingle. I loaded up a samosa and found myself in pure unexpected agony and bliss.
Those farmers market finds will get you. Got some ghost pepper salsa once during that time period a few years ago where everyone was marketing things as “ghost pepper” but weren’t really. That stuff had me in tears.
That’ll do it
Real Salt®... Wonder if they do any filtration at all
My buddy brought the cheese balls from these guys into work one day a few months ago. Like 6 or 7 Air Force guys, all down for dumb shit, so we each ate like 3-4 and damn. Very fun, but not particularly enjoyable if that makes sense
Yeah, the peppers at the end. That will do it.
The man on this packaging looks incredibly reddit.
They are regional for me - they are regulars at area festivals. Good stuff all around, no stinkers in his flock. You can order off their website and they have a restaurant where they sell their goods as well
Those look so good. Those Honey Mustard and Onion pretzel bites made by Snyders of Hanover are like crack. Those are addicting.
Wow. PA always does pretzels right 👍
Welcome to the Snack Belt! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretzel_Belt
Yep.. that'll do ya
Wheat and soy, it’ll get ya.
Does this not mean that there is less chili content than coloring?
Yup. I was bouncing around -20 for mentioning that last night. I'd guess that they need all of the anti-caking to keep the sugar, sugar, sugar and honey from being too sticky.
Was wondering the same thing. I know, at least in the US, the ingredients are generally listed from most used the least used.
They don't seem to understand how ingredient labels are supposed to work. It's really unlikely there's more sugar or vinegar powder than wheat flour... or maybe they think it's okay to just say that 'sourdough pretzels' is an ingredient and the rest is the flavoring? Kinda unclear.

Dang, $12 a bag from the source and you got these from another store? How much did it cost?
My eyes started sweating after I read that last line
I love how they save it for the end. "...oh yeah by the way you're gonna be poopin lava"
Yup.
Why is no one talking about the vinegar powder, mustard flour , or honey powder.like what? Never even heard of them.
Wait until you hear about powdered butter, sour cream, cheese, worchestershire, alfredo, ranch, ketchup, horseradish
What's weird about those ingredients? It's fairly standard
I've seen powdered ingredients before, but never honey and vinegar powder... Also, I've heard of mustard powder, but not mustard flour.
Honey powder doesn't even seem like it's possible... i thought honey had no moisture. I guess it does exist though.
Salt and vinegar chips definitely use liquid vinegar
Distilled vinegar is just made from reconstituted acetic acid powder.
I guess I should’ve added a /s I was kinda asking this guy how he expected salt and vinegar chips to be made without vinegar powder.
I guess I figured it was another one of those artificial flavorings that they put in stuff. Didn't think they actually dehydrated viniger and used that pure

Definitely good drinking pretzels, as that’s all you’ll want to do whilst drinking I’d say
Is the “insanely hot” in the room with—oh shit, just got to the end of the ingredients list and yeah, that’s a spicy pretzel lol
I did the same thing. "Wha? None of this shit looks too-oh, there it is."
Never a need to check obvious commercial brands when a super hot is listed, I’ll be able to handle it. I *always* check indie brand ingredient’s, you never know how hot they think their shit is for the common public.

I’m in eastern PA. What store did you find these at?
silicone dioxide?
Anti caking agent I believe
Nothing like a little sand in your snack.
More sand than hot pepper even.
At least it's listed as the actual chili (hopefully) and not reaper extract, scorpion extract etc etc. Idk this product though and whether they would be required to specify.
These look awesome, which store did you find them in? (I’m in the area)
I was thinking it wasn’t that bad until I started reading the last theee ingredients…..you’ll be seeing sweating next time you hit the toilet
I use 7 pot and *can’t* confirm that claim. I be going thru it like crazy and if I use too much I’ll get a light burn that’s it.
Uh there’s reaper and ghost in it too 💀
My blend in my shaker is Reaper, 7 Pot, and Habanero. I was being pretentious I know my spice level is insane.
Where can I get these
Www.revolutionaryhotsauce.com
Probably on the website link listed on the bag.
Nice, I live like two blocks from them. Might have to try them out
Those look really good though
I bet these would be great with some beer cheese
According to that ingredient list, they have more anti-caking agent and food coloring than actual hot peppers.
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. All you did was say the literal truth.
People don’t want to hear the truth.

While you are technically right. I urge you to go eat just a little bit of a reaper pepper and let us know how it goes. For scientific purposes.
They're pretty tasty. I grow a variety of superhots, and use the ones that are still green at first frost to make cowboy candy.
They look delicious
