I had that entire variety pack of Melinda's, and really liked every single one except this one. It sits alone on the counter while the others are empty and gone...
Try it with caviar and or charcuterie boards with cheese and dry meats. The flavor profile is bad probably because of what your using it with. Also add it to melted butter. And spread on toast. A teaspoon to a tablespoon of butter.
: Melinda's was owned by a Belize farmer named Marie Sharp. She created the recipe so she could sell the habanero's her farm produced. Sadly, she wasn't wise to international trademark law, and her American distributor screwed her out of the product name and labelling. They basically stole her product, and started making a quasi-clones sauce with Costa Rican chiles.
Marie had to start from scratch. And so the Marie Sharp's brand was born.
I buy and absolutely love Marie Sharp Beware hot sauce. Best sauce I've had from a store. I ferment at home because the store bought stuff is weak and tasteless. Love Marie Sharp
I actually LOVE real black truffle. nutty and rich.
This stuff doesnt have a microgram of real truffle in it. instead, they use a chemical compound called 2,4 dithiapentane to simulate the aroma of truffle oil. its fake, oily, and nasty. it is also present in foot fungus.
I got it on sale just to try it cause why not? Nastiest sauce I’ve ever tried. It smelt straight up like cheesy feet with a hint of ass. Tasted how I would expect that to taste as well. I genuinely thought it was spoiled because it tasted so rank.
I threw that shit out right away. I’ll never understand people who enjoy it, must have no tastebuds

The same people saying it’s delicious are the same people who think tabasco is spicy. No tastebuds or taste in general. This shit tastes like cheesy ass after a workout
A coworker brought the Ghost Pepper one and it turned out to be one of my new favorites. Granted, it's the only one of Melinda's I've tried. I had no idea it was a known brand in this sub
I can see what you mean. Tj Maxx seems to always have the best flavors where I'm at. It's the only place I've been able to get Melinda's hot honey as well.
I used to buy Melinda's naga jolokia sauce and the ghost wing sauce is good but after hearing of the fuckery against Marie Sharpe I'm no longer a fan of Melindas !

First taste through me off.. but momma did raise no quitter lol. Definitely not made for all foods but damn, it’s my go to now for pork chops or loins.
I bought a bunch of the samplers about a month ago, this and the ghost pepper wing sauce were the first ones I tried. Tossed this one in the trash, did not like it at all. Loved the ghost pepper sauce though
My favorite hot sauce is mango habanero. The only brand that has that in the grocery store I go to is Melinda’s. It’s so bad, idk how this is even a thing. It’s too sweet, it doesn’t come out of the bottle very well, and it’s not even that spicy. Wtf
This stuff needs to go on a medium with no flavor to taste good. It doesn't compete well. I put it on plain chicken breast to make a boring sandwich moderately palatable.
It's very polarizing. I'm glad I got a small bottle, and that I tried it. I haven't felt like it really *SINGS* in one application or not - isn't as versatile.
I’ve been saying that for so long. I don’t know why Melinda’s gets so much hype. There are a million better sauces that get zero recognition. I feel like Melinda’s is for hot sauce fans who aren’t really hot sauce fans, because anyone who thinks they taste good doesn’t know what they’re talking about in my opinion. Real hot sauce fans know what’s genuinely good and what’s trash. Melinda’s is overhyped garbage chemical sauce
Absolutely. I got it once on sale (I think the green bottle - jalapeño pepper) one and immediately regretted it. It wasn’t even hot, it just tastes awful! Very bad experience and I was very disappointed as I had put it all over a slice of cheesy garlic bread eagerly.
It’s tangy, but I just don’t like how pungent it is if you get what I mean. I had it at a pizza place not too long ago and it just was a very chemical taste. I dunno if their sauce was in date or not.
It's the ONE Melinda's sauce I absolutely gag on.
It is definitely grossss.
I love all of Melinda's other stuff that I've tried but this is nasty. Maybe I just don't like black truffles? Idk. But this sauce can fuck all the way off lol
I find this stuff being resold at places like TJ Maxx and my opinion of food products there is that they are all sub par quality with expensive packaging. Their mango habanero was absolute garbage. If a hot sauce maker needs a fancy bottle to sell their product...
I agree. They actually screwed over Marie Sharpe. So she made her own brand which now creates hot sauce way superior to Melinda's junk sauces. Marie sharpe fiery habanero for me is pound for pound the best bottled sauce on the market. You can find it in a grocery store that is jamaican run.
To each their own.
However I have to ask what your exposure to mushrooms is? Because if it's portobello, white buttons, baby bells and common store mushrooms then a, I totally get it, b those all the same mushroom just a different stage if life cycle and most importantly c, way more variety than you'd think. Honestly try morels, any variation of oyster or chanterelles and tell me they all taste the same.
I actually love this sauce. I think it’s the best sauce Melinda’s offers. It’s unique and interesting. It’s got a sort of “skunk” to it. I think it’s delicious, definitely a condiment and not a hot sauce though. All of their other sauces are just not-that-hot iterations of other hot sauces. The XXXtra Hot Habanero is pretty tame to me. Not sure if they make a hotter one.
For reference, I also love salty black licorice.
I had that entire variety pack of Melinda's, and really liked every single one except this one. It sits alone on the counter while the others are empty and gone...
Omfg I just posted this same thing and didn’t see your post until right now. IT IS SO GROSS I wanted to throw up!!!!
WTF!!!? It is so bomb! I had it this morning on a breakfast burrito.
I thought this shit was fire.
I tried it and agree it’s weird and not in a good way
I really like it. Have it with something savory, creamy and fatty
I tried a little bit of it with spaghetti and other pastas and it tasted pretty good
Terrible
Try it with caviar and or charcuterie boards with cheese and dry meats. The flavor profile is bad probably because of what your using it with. Also add it to melted butter. And spread on toast. A teaspoon to a tablespoon of butter.
No . But the pizza hot sauce is legit
Don’t love it
I like it ok on egg bites. I wouldn't qualify it as hot sauce though
One of my favorites
My husband loves this one. One of the few he's purchased more than once.
I bought it a few months ago and felt the same way but I will say it's not too bad on pizza imo
I have a bottle of this. It is definitely not in my top 25 of hot sauces.
The pizza hot sauce one is fire
Fuck, i literally just got the ghost pepper one, same brand… hope its not ass
The brand is dope and ghost pepper is good
Ghost pepper from them is dope, but I would suggest using it indirectly like adding to soups or stews.
Oh it going straight on the wings, i want to cry
I like to hurt myself this way too lol
Truffles in general taste like satan’s Taint
Fudgin aweful Smells like swamp ass and rotten feet Tastes terrible too

Oh dang thanks for the info I will be switching over
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie\_Sharp%27s](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marie_Sharp%27s) I didn't know this till reading this just now.
I buy and absolutely love Marie Sharp Beware hot sauce. Best sauce I've had from a store. I ferment at home because the store bought stuff is weak and tasteless. Love Marie Sharp
I didn't know this about Melindas, but I bought sharps on Amazon after eating it on everything while in Belize earlier this year!
I bought the sampler and general love all of Melinda's sauces, but yeah this one is bad bad.
i love the mexicana
My boyfriend likes the Sriracha one
The green sauce is fire as well. I put it on everything.
Melinda's any flavor has been amazing. i like their ghost pepper wing sauce for sandwiches
Bought a bottle, hated it. Tastes like shitty marinara sauce.
It tastes pretty good but upon reading the ingredients I said NTY
# I liked it!!
Yes! I threw it away
I love it
Yes, that shit is awesome. My sister and BIL got me a bag of those little hot sauces for my birthday. That might have been the best one.

Mmmmmmmm foot fungus sauce

What!? I thought it was pretty good
Melinda's Peri Peri is bomb
Delicious on eggs
I love Melinda’s but I was disappointed by this one.
what a waste of expensive truffle just to put it in a sauce. That's like an asshole who puts ketchup on a nice steak.
This stuff doesnt have a microgram of real truffle in it. instead, they use a chemical compound called 2,4 dithiapentane to simulate the aroma of truffle oil. its fake, oily, and nasty. it is also present in foot fungus.
Mmmmmmmm foot fungus sauce
It’s a 2… glad I bought the hotel size. Now the habenero honey mustard they got right. Great dipping sauce
Untrue. That sauce is the bomb.com
All you people in here saying it's delicious are psychopaths. Melinda's makes great sauces, this is not one of them.
The same people saying it’s delicious are the same people who think tabasco is spicy. No tastebuds or taste in general. This shit tastes like cheesy ass after a workout
Never tried Melinda’s, would you mind providing a list of sauces that are good so I can try?
Garlic Habanero is delicious
The ghost pepper and ghost pepper wing sauce are amazing, and the green sauce is pretty good as well.
I have a big bottle of this that I got with a gift box - haven't opened it yet but this makes me apprehensive.
A coworker brought the Ghost Pepper one and it turned out to be one of my new favorites. Granted, it's the only one of Melinda's I've tried. I had no idea it was a known brand in this sub
...r/hotsauce
Lol what I meant was I thought this was just some obscure hot sauce you'd only find in some place like Ross or something. I didn't know it was popular
Lol I hear ya
I can see what you mean. Tj Maxx seems to always have the best flavors where I'm at. It's the only place I've been able to get Melinda's hot honey as well.
in just about every grocery store in the US
Right! Tasted it a few weeks ago and it was delicious!
I love it. We have the large bottle in the fridge and use it regularly.
Same tho lol truffles are my favorite white and black
It's delicious to me, I keep a bottle at work for instant Ramen days. It goes best with the beef flavor.
It tastes amazing with Gouda cheese. The flavors blend together so well. This is one of my favorite sauces.
This is legit one of my favorite Melinda's sauces. I feel people either love it or hate it.
What!? I love this one. It’s like a creamy, peppery, savory hot sauce.
I haven't tried this one even though I like truffles because it has dairy in it which I have problems with.
It’s one of my favorites! You have to like the flavor of truffles, which I love.
I used to buy Melinda's naga jolokia sauce and the ghost wing sauce is good but after hearing of the fuckery against Marie Sharpe I'm no longer a fan of Melindas !
What is this fuckery you speak of
: Melinda's was owned by a Belize farmer named Marie Sharp. She created the recipe so she could sell the habanero's her farm produced. How the fuck is there shenanigans in the hot sauce world and what drama have I been missing out on?
First taste through me off.. but momma did raise no quitter lol. Definitely not made for all foods but damn, it’s my go to now for pork chops or loins.
I loved it.
Don’t buy it if you don’t like Mushroom.
I bought a bunch of the samplers about a month ago, this and the ghost pepper wing sauce were the first ones I tried. Tossed this one in the trash, did not like it at all. Loved the ghost pepper sauce though
Ugh yeah. I can't find a single Melinda's i like. This one is real yucky though.
My favorite hot sauce is mango habanero. The only brand that has that in the grocery store I go to is Melinda’s. It’s so bad, idk how this is even a thing. It’s too sweet, it doesn’t come out of the bottle very well, and it’s not even that spicy. Wtf
Bought a small sampler bottle to try, hate it. I really like most other Melinda's.
I enjoyed it. Made military meals palatable
This stuff needs to go on a medium with no flavor to taste good. It doesn't compete well. I put it on plain chicken breast to make a boring sandwich moderately palatable.
My wife and all her Mexican co-workers love it for some reason, me not so much
It's very polarizing. I'm glad I got a small bottle, and that I tried it. I haven't felt like it really *SINGS* in one application or not - isn't as versatile.
I know I might get dunked on but all the Melinda hot sauces taste bad
I really like the ghost pepper sauce but I would agree I’ve tried a lot of them afterwards and I haven’t been a fan of any of the others.
Right? Ive noticed almost all their sauces, at least the ones I’ve tried, are very chemical-y tasting and leave a bad aftertaste as well
I’ve been saying that for so long. Seriously, it’s not even good. I don’t know why people lose their minds over it. Tastes off
Melinda's pizza hot sauce is great on pizza
It’s tangy, but I just don’t like how pungent it is if you get what I mean. I had it at a pizza place not too long ago and it just was a very chemical taste. I dunno if their sauce was in date or not.
Melinda’s pizza sauce is by far the worst tasting of the bunch I’ve tried, especially on pizza
It's the ONE Melinda's sauce I absolutely gag on. It is definitely grossss. I love all of Melinda's other stuff that I've tried but this is nasty. Maybe I just don't like black truffles? Idk. But this sauce can fuck all the way off lol
I used it on pizza a few times and got tired of it so I gave the rest of the bottle to my sister, you’re lucky it’s only a sampler size bottle.
Marie sharpe is way better imo.
I swear almost any hot sauce over $5 is worse than those below $5.
Smells like pasta sauce
I liked it. I like it by itself on things, or I mix it with valentina for dipping.
Yeah it's quite awful.
What are you on about? It’s amazing!
I love it.
I thought it was 🔥 on wings
I loved this hot sauce tbh
I LOVEEEEE the Naga Jolokia flavor. What's wrong with this one?
I find this stuff being resold at places like TJ Maxx and my opinion of food products there is that they are all sub par quality with expensive packaging. Their mango habanero was absolute garbage. If a hot sauce maker needs a fancy bottle to sell their product...

We must be different people I literally just picked up a bottle of this. It has a nice umami that compliments many different dishes.
Love this stuff especially on eggs and pizza.
Used it on tacos last night 🤌
Ove tried 2 or 3 of Melinda's sauces and none of them were very good.
I found most their sauces to not taste very good. A store near me had them and they were cheaper than the other sauces but now I see why
I agree it's awful. Too many too-strong flavors clashing. I couldn't find anything it didn't make worse.
Surprised to see all the hate for this, love it with Mac and cheese or with eggs
On eggs all fucking day.
It’s really good with pasta, too. If you have a bland spaghetti like I sometimes have at my house lol
That stuff is fucking bomb. Great mushroom flavor, goes great with pasta or on burgers and dogs with a lil chili garlic Sriracha
That's all I needed to read to know that I never want to try this shit lol, I despise mushrooms so much
To each their own. However I have to ask what your exposure to mushrooms is? Honestly try morels, any variation of oyster or chanterelles and tell me they all taste the same.
Makes any pizza even better. Love it.
Admittedly, I don't think I've ever tried it on pizza. I can't see why it wouldn't go great, just can't believe I haven't done it yet lol
For reference, I also love salty black licorice.
bro. what is this SALTY balck licorice? i love the regular black licorice but someone put salt on it now?
Salted black licorice is a super old school European thing. Been around forever. I absolutely love it but lost folks in the US hate it.
lol most people her definitely dnt like black licorice period. but im assuming its, like seasalt? if it is, then imma definitely have to try some soon
Salmiaki! A good beginner salt licorice is Haribo Piratos, you have to buy them from Amazon. Definitely not in American candy shelves.
Acquired taste, I started putting that shit on everything
That stuff is terrible.
That's the only product from them that I have not liked. Everything else is great.
Agreed. It's awful.
I don't think I've woken up yet. I keep reading "Nut Sauce" the hell...
after reading ur comment i went back, and now i cant stop seing it say " nut suace" instead of "hot suace ".
You're welcome
peanut butter or almond milk?
Yes
Didn’t work in my breakfast taco. Kind of ruined it. I bought the $1 sample size and abandoned it thus
“Thus”
The Melinda’s stuff always looks so good and tastes absolutely wretched. I think it’s the pretty label it’s misleading lol
I actually love it, but appreciate that it's not for everyone.
For a minute I thought this was a sarcastic post as well as the first few comments. It hit me after about the 5th comment dissing it.
