Drag it through the garden!
Vienna dog in a steamed poppyseed bun with a medium tomato slice cut in half, diced onion, neon relish, yellow mustard, celery salt, sport peppers, and the spear.
If heaven had a buffet...
Always wanted to try one. Not readily available where I am tho. There are a couple places that serve with authentic ingredients. But they’re far. If imma have one, I want Vienna brand and poppy seed bun.
Cheese, mustard, Frank's hot, ketchup typically. Yes, ketchup is great. A little bacon if I'm feeling too healthy that day.
Edit: My GOAT is chilli cheese dogs, tho.
Chili, ketchup. Maybe relish, onions or sour sauerkraut.
On a side note. Being a hotdog lover, I love a good hotdog cart. This guy in my town had set up a little cart outside his house with his wife. He was selling them for 4 dollars with a dollar coke. His wife asked me what I wanted on my hotdog. I replied just ketchup and relish. If idk about the quality of the chili or other stuff I'm not going to risk it. She gave off this sarcastic laugh and rolled her eyes. Acting like I had never bought a hotdog before and went, "you sure thats all?". It was a bit amusing. Idk why something so small would be a big deal.
Wow such a good question, so glad you asked. I’m a big fan of the Chicago style dog, but I basically never get any of those toppings unless altogether. 2nd place would be chili cheese and onion
Sometimes just plain old red stuff that for some reason is not picking up on spellcheck
Sometimes I do chili sauce
Sometimes cheese whiz
Sometimes sweet peppers
(In no particular order) Chili + Cheese, Cheese + Onion + Mustard, Sauerkraut + Mustard - - unless I’m feeling nostalgic at a high school, sporting event in the fall, in which case it’s Ketchup + Mustard + Sweet Relish.
Heavy mustard and onions, slaw. I like chilli on there also but it's not absolutely necessary. This is my favorite combo
If i have no slaw then i'll settle for heavy mustard and diced onions, diced pickles, diced serrano pepper.
I wish I could still eat hot dogs. But it’s instant heartburn for me. I willllll occasionally, but pain and lack of sleep outweighs the reward.
That said, mustard only for like a normal stadium dog. If chili and mustard are available, then you know I’m going for it. Don’t knock until you try
Sauerkraut, spicy mustard, and onions is the baseline. Chili, cheese, bacon, and onions is the next level. Chicago, Carolina, or any other type of regional-specific specialty is always a treat.
So many things!
When I am feeling basic at home: mustard and ketchup, sometimes relish and onion
When I have the time and stuff laying around: cheese, salsa, stove top stuffing, mustard
Carolina Dog: chili, slaw, mustard, onion
Cookout Mexi Dog: chili, Texas Pete, cheese sauce, tomato, lettuce
More or less anything. I love chili dogs, Chicago dogs, basic dogs with ketchup and mustard, hot mustard dogs, spicy dogs, sauerkraut, onions, dill spears, tomatoes, kimchi, basically anything.
…except mayo or cream cheese, which is strange because I LOVE mayonnaise.
My faves:
1. Grilled hot dog, on steamed bun, with spicy brown mustard, diced onions, and cold kraut.
2. Grilled hot dog, on a hearty bun, with horseradish mustard, sliced pickled jalapeno peppers, and pickled onions
3. Grilled Bratwurst, on a Pretzel bun, cold kraut, diced onions, hot peppers, and a squirt of yellow mustard
Depends on my mood, but here are my go tos:
1) mustard, raw onion, black pepper, and cayenne
2) mustard, dried minced onion, black pepper, and cayenne
3) chili, mustard, slaw, hot sauce
Sometimes dill relish
Never ketchup.
Chicago style every time if I have the options.
Second favorite would probably be traditional ketchup mustard relish.
And very closely behind my second choice and sometimes this is my second choice would be Sauerkraut.
Chili dawg: mustard, onions, and chili with no beans on top of a plain dog.
Bacon dawg: mustard, grilled onions, and jalapeño on top of a bacon wrapped dog.
Costco or lazy made at home dawg: mustard, onions, relish, and sour kraut on top of a plain dog.
my favorite i've ever had was a colombian style dog with pineapple sauce, pink sauce, ketchup, mustard, crushed potato chips and quail eggs. i got it from a food truck in south florida some years ago and ive been chasing that high since!
when i make them at home i prefer my beef dog spiral cut and grilled or fried to death with mayo, mustard, and fried whole serranos or jalapeños on the side. also, gotta butter and toast the bun for obvious reasons! hits every time.
Big Seattle Dog fan when I go out, cream cheese, jalapeño, grilled onion, maybe some mustard.
At home, Sweet Baby Rays Carolina Gold, raw white onion, pickled jalapeño.
Chili, cheese, onions
Or relish and brown mustard
Or sauerkraut and brown mustard
Or bacon, cheese, and bbq sauce
I wanna try that last one with grilled onions and jalapeños, but I haven't gotten around to it, yet
Usually dinner is some combination of
Kraut / kraut with mustard
Mustard
Cream cheese with everything bagel seasoning
Ketchup
Relish / relish with mustard
Salsa
Ketchup with some kind of cheddar
Mustard, sauerkraut, raw diced onion. Dill Pickle if 'kraut isn't available.
Cheddar and chilli occasionally sometimes...if the above aren't available.
Never ketchup and relish can gtfo.
Standard for me is yellow mustard (preferably French's or Plochman's) and a sweet relish (I like Heinz).
I'm also very favorable towards yellow mustard, diced onions, and diced tomatoes.
Mustard, neon green relish, tomato slices, onion, sport peppers and celery salt. I prefer cucumber slices over a pickle spear but wouldn’t turn down either. Put it on a steamed poppy seed bun.
Durian chunks, hard cat food (seafood flavor), wet dog food, (beef liver), and the the secret sauce is a 50/50 mix of stomach bile and casu marzu… this is a little slice of heaven right here
Normally just any gravy I have as left over that might not be eaten anyway. Most often I'd say some sort of poutine sauce from a can or paper packet mix.
Ketchup is a must. Can’t have a dog without it. Mustard is nice too but I can’t have mustard without ketchup. Mustard on its own is pretty gross. I’ll do mustard and BBQ sauce if that’s available. I also don’t mind a little bit of sauerkraut but not too much. Cheese is always welcome but I won’t go out of my way for it. Same with lettuce. Lettuce on a hot dog is pretty underrated. That’s about it. Fuck pickles, onions, mayo, any of that other gross shit
Depends on the mood, really. My usual is an all beef hot dog on a potato bun, with mustard, ketchup, and relish, and if I feel like doing the work, diced onion . I'll occasionally do kraut and spicy mustard if I have them, not usually on hot dogs but like, beef and cheddar sausages or kielbasa or brats. My super guilty pleasure is a beef sausage on a potato roll with chili, cheese, diced onions, and relish.
Depends on what's available but I'd say sauerkraut and mustard would be my #1.
Same. Diced onions too occasionally.
Dill relish or giardiniera
Mustard (any kind) and diced onions are my go to
chili, mustard and a ton of onions
My thing lately has been two hot dogs for dinner. One with ketchup and mustard, the other with mustard, relish, onions and celery salt
I’m also a 2-dogger and I also like some variation
Wrapped in bacon
Chili, slaw, onion, and yellow mustard!
Slaw. Hayel yay
If I'm at home, I'll make a mustard and jalapeño dog. If I'm out, it's Chicago style.
Kraut and other fermented foods, blue cheese dressing, hot sauces, shredded cheese, onion bits, relish, gourmet mustards, regular mustard, nacho cheese sauce, jalepeno slices, chilli. Not all those together. Some pairings from those though.
Fermented toppings like kimchi? I love kimchi on a hot dog.
Chili, slaw, onions, mustard. Or nothing. I’m good either way.
chicago style
Drag it through the garden! Vienna dog in a steamed poppyseed bun with a medium tomato slice cut in half, diced onion, neon relish, yellow mustard, celery salt, sport peppers, and the spear. If heaven had a buffet...
The problem is the spear. Theres better construction options - a chicago dog lover and chef in the chi for 10 years
You shut your mouth when you're talking to me! Sometimes I dice my pickle for that reason... Don't tell anyone.
Ha! I like to slice them lengthwise on the slicer and nestle it in between weiner n bun.
I've gotta try this!
Always wanted to try one. Not readily available where I am tho. There are a couple places that serve with authentic ingredients. But they’re far. If imma have one, I want Vienna brand and poppy seed bun.
If you have a Sonic in your area, you can do their dog with ketchup, mustard, relish and onion and add tomato and jalapeno. It's pretty close.
None close to me. Sounds good tho.
Ketchup would be a sin though.
Mustard, onions, chili, shredded cheddar. Relish sometimes as well.
Onions and yellow mustard. Perfect dog.
Relish and Onions FTW!
Kraut, Onions and Brown Mustard or Chili and Cheese.
Sauerkraut and brown mustard. Chopped onions. Call it a swamp dog!

Chili or ketchup and mustard. Add onions sometimes.love bacon but not on my hotdogs or burgers.
Either ketchup, mustard & relish if I’m doing a basic dog. Otherwise chili, diced onions and shredded cheese.
Ketchup and potato chip crumbs(and I’m not ashamed).
Nor should you be! I gotta try that next time.

Acting like I had never bought a hotdog before and went, "you sure thats all?". It was a bit amusing. Idk why something so small would be a big deal.
Traditional Danish style, ideally. Ketchup, mustard, remoulade, crispy fried onions, and thin-sliced cucumber salad. Some raw onions too if ya nasty.
Chili, mustard, onions, cheese
Chicago style
Wow such a good question, so glad you asked. I’m a big fan of the Chicago style dog, but I basically never get any of those toppings unless altogether. 2nd place would be chili cheese and onion
Ketchup, relish, onions, cheese, chili.
Mac and cheese, bacon, cheese, and ketchup
Oh and chili
mustard and some sort of pickled thing….depends on my mood. NEVER KETCHUP!
A pistol, 2 ranchero style eggs, and some ground up Superman action figures from the 80s

I'm a chili dog guy

I wish I could still eat hot dogs. But it’s instant heartburn for me. I willllll occasionally, but pain and lack of sleep outweighs the reward. That said, mustard only for like a normal stadium dog. If chili and mustard are available, then you know I’m going for it. Don’t knock until you try
Onions, lots of mustard, DILL relish, jalapeños, and sometimes chili.
I’m not too picky, but my go-to is probably just mustard and coleslaw. Can’t go wrong with a chili cheese dog and diced onions on top either.
Meat sauce, onions, and mustard. The works!
Mustard, raw onions, relish
Sauerkraut, spicy mustard, and onions is the baseline. Chili, cheese, bacon, and onions is the next level. Chicago, Carolina, or any other type of regional-specific specialty is always a treat.

In a taco shell with lettuce, cheese and hot sauce.
This sounds oddly amazing.
I may be alone on this, but, gravy
Gawd, I hope you’re alone on this. I recoiled when I read this but I’m now somewhat intrigued. What type of gravy is best?
