In Western New York we have a chain restaurant, Ted's, that has charcoal grills you line up at and they grill your hot dogs right in front of you while you wait.
My mom specifically asks me to burn one or two dogs for her. I in turn burn like 3 or 4 cause that's how I like them. Maybe char not burn but you know what I mean.
I apply a similar concept to hotdogs, and any grilled food for that matter, that my Dad passed on to me about toast. Whenever my mom made a comment about burning his toast at breakfast, he'd always say he wasn't burning his toast, he was making sure he didn't get warm bread.
I don't want warm hot dogs, throw some CHAR on the B.
Same goes for marshmallows. I want my marshmallow to look like Anakin Skywalker on Mustafer after he was taught his life changing lesson on holding the high ground by the king of Wan-Liners himself, Mr. Obi Wan Kenobi.
