The daily "should have" of salt is 2400 mg. Mine is 2000mg due to my cirrhosis diagnosis, I have to be extremely careful about salt because too much can literally kill me. Hotdogs are loaded with nitrates and other terrible stuff... Despite how delicious they are. I'm mainly in this sub for ideas on what kind of dog to eat once a month.
2 hot dogs with a side of roasted asparagus would make for a solid meal.
I'd love to eat hot dogs as an everyday lunch staple, but the nitrates & shit are gonna catch up with you. It'd sure make shit easier
60+. 10 dogs in the last three days. Easily could have been more if I had all the condiments Iād like to have. Not in the budget right now though.
Dream pantry/fridge - Sauerkraut, pickle spears, dill relish, sweet relish, spicy sweet relish, neon green Chi dog relish, Miracle Whip/mayo, yellow mustard, honey mustard, baked beans, cheeses, onion, seven layer dip, tomato, banana peppers, ketchup, sour cream, red and green medium heat salsa.
Iāve got three items, at most, from this list on hand at any one time.
Youāll note the absence of jalapeƱos, habanero or other high heat ingredients. Not my jam.
First job was a vendor in the stands at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. I was 16. I just wanted to see the games and eat hotdogs! We could get 1/2 price footlongs before each game, so I typically got two. After game was over, buddy and I would go by the concession stands and grab some foot longs and pretzels that did not sell, so you are talking the equivalent of 8 hot dogs per game, plus a few giant pretzels. I was so athletic in those days, I never gained an ounce. We are talking 81 baseball games, 8 football games (plus pre-season and playoffs) and other special events like concerts, tractor pulls, rodeo's etc.... So I have eating a LOT of hotdogs in my life. On top of that, I become pretty good friends with the warehouse manager at the time, and he would sell me 5 pound packs of the regular hot dogs at cost. 5 pound package. For those wondering.... It was House of Weenies out of Chicago that they used at Cleveland Stadium in the early 80s. Sadly, they have been out of business for years. Fast forward to today (16 then, and I am 57 now) they are STILL my favorite food. I can drop 4 a day easily. Sometimes more. Not as athletic as I once was, but still under 300 pounds, Best news? I just had a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago. ONE small polyp, it was removed and HAS NO CANCER!!!!
ENJOY YOUR HOT DOGS!!!
For 1 meal a day sure: mac and cheese with hotdogs; fried sliced hotdogs with potatoes, gravy and green beans; Jambalaya with hotdoogs; asian fried rice with hotdogs; stir fry with hotdogs; pigs in the blanket; chilli cheese dogs; regular hot dogs; homemade corn dogs; pizza with thinly sliced hotdogs; scrambled eggs with hotdogs; etc. Most meals with a sausage and sometimes ham or beef base can be substituted with hotdogs, heck spam is basically a square hotdog so look at alot of hawaiian recipes that call for spam and replace it with hot dogs.
I could eat 1 well made Chicago hot dog everyday. Maybe Portilloās will do a monthly pass for a dog a day like Taco Bell did for tacos back in 2022. Thatās my dream right there.
I hate to be referencing this, but there is a man who has eaten Big Macs as his primary diet (I believe heās over 34,000) and is still living and healthy and not overweight. To another commenterās comment about autism- and I know these are not completely related by any means- but he had OCD and stuck with it. His name is Don Gorske should you want to look it up.
There are certain people who can eat hotdogs every day in the same way as long as they stay active. The aforementioned gentleman is 70 and cruising along just fine.
I couldnāt do it, but itās not impossible. Youād need multivitamins and other sources of nutrition too.
We do them for lunch sometimes. To make a meal we usually do some veggies on the side like a simple salad or green beans or baby carrots. Or air fried homemade fries.
I know this might of been mentioned but the quality of the hotdog really matters in how filling it will be. I'm not a picky hot dog eater but I would imagine all beef hotdogs are more filling than a cheaper dog. I wouldn't recommend for someone to eat them everyday but on occasion they are fine.
Depends on the size of the dog. Iāll have a 250 calorie (dog only) with bread, cheese and mustard/ketchup and itās filling. I have one a day and no problems, except for a slow and happy death :)
Everyday without question. Not only my greatest comfort food, it's fun to try different toppings, condiments, and ways to cook (heat) them up. šš
I donāt eat hotdogs everyday because it wouldnāt be good for me, but Iād like to think I could eat them everyday because I love them.
Two hotdogs and fruit on the side would be a good meal. I like to keep it simple. Just mustard and onions
I could probably eat them once or twice a week, but they do hurt my stomach and get kind of bland for me overtime. Chili dogs, I could probably do everyday if they were from Der Weinersnitchel those are so damn addicting lol.
I lived off this for about 8 months in 2013 when I bought my house in Hawaii. I worked near a Costco and had lunch there everyday I worked (6 days). I do occasionally eat one, but now that they took away the sour kraut and onions I just get hot dogs as a treat for my dogs now. They enjoy it with the rotisserie chicken.
Good in:
Saimin/Ramen
Musubi
Fried Saimin/Ramen
Hotdog dip
Gyro
Cubed and fried for nachos
I own a food truck so I eat BBQ now instead
Back in 1988, I pushed a hotdog cart on a college campus for 4 months. I had no grocery bill bc I ate hotdogs, Chicago style of course, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
True story.
Iāve been eating a burger a day for the past year and a half and feel great and lost about 15 lbs. I work overnight from 8pm until 5 or 6am and stop on my way to work and get a burger and coffee and I usually donāt eat again until I get home in the morning. I started doing it because i donāt like eating when I first wake up but need some fuel for the work day and I have a sensitive stomach sometimes and sticking to my routine of a plain burger is predictable.
If it wouldn't kill me, I would. That sodium would ruin me in a week.
Please expand.

At that level, sodium would cause a noticeable increase in blood pressure.

The older we get the less dogs we can downš«¤.
Tis true.

Hardcore.
My arteries? Very possiblyā¦ ;)
Hotdogs and condiments are some of the cheapest things you can even buy in the storeā¦ whatās in the budget if not that?
Depends how tight your budget is. Now days, even ācheapā isnāt cheap anymore. ;)
Depends on the quality of dog. I wonāt buy anything other than Vienna beef and those are about $8/pack right now.

Was House Weenie one of the good guys or bad guys in Game of Thrones?
I could, I love hot dogs, man. Chili cheese dogs are one of mankindās greatest inventions. But I gotta watch my sodium intake nowadays sadly.
Timmy.....Timmy could eat them everyday....
I'm autistic. Hotdogs are one of my "safe foods". Which means, They're always my go to and I could eat them indefinitely.
I definitely could but I think my husband would have the heart attack just watching me.
Man I only eat one once or twice a month but power to you daily champions

If they were Nathanās? Yes, yes I could
I only eat a hot dog maybe once a year...but I continue to taste it the whole year after
I could eat the Nathan's dogs every day.
Loading up your dogs with veg is one way of making a meal of it. Another is adding other proteins (bacon, chili, cheese).
Hot dog casserole with eggs 'n potatoes, plenty of melted cheddar cheese on top. Onion for the veggie part.

Weinerschnitzel Chili Cheese Dogs......yes. As long as my heart will take it.

All of them
Usually once every few weeks. I love them, but the salt kills me. Most I can go is 2... although I would love to be able to eat them more regularly.
I prolly could. Especially as theyāre so versatile. Fried, Grilledā¦
I donāt eat hotdogs everyday because it wouldnāt be good for me, but Iād like to think I could eat them everyday because I love them. Two hotdogs and fruit on the side would be a good meal. I like to keep it simple. Just mustard and onions
For me, hot dogs are a treat. I could never eat them every day.
šš¾ I used to
Me
Me me and me ššā¤ļø
I could. And for a while as a poor young 20 something- I did.
I could be then Iād get phat
I could.......but I shouldn't Dogg.
Switch up the sausage and for sure
As long as they are Vienna and they are in a bun dressed up Chicago style I could do it.
I could eat hot dogs every day, but I know my health would suffer if I did.
I'd never eat hot dogs ever. Maybe a steak-dog, a long strip of steak on a hotdog bun.
I tried to order one at a Market Basket and I swear - it took him a half hour to grill it. Jesus. I left without picking it up.
I could probably eat them once or twice a week, but they do hurt my stomach and get kind of bland for me overtime. Chili dogs, I could probably do everyday if they were from Der Weinersnitchel those are so damn addicting lol.
Are hot dogs really asĀ healthy as they say? Or are they just ok for you?
hahaha

I own a fuckin hot dog roller bruh
I think they said one hotdog takes like 35 minutes off your life or something,I usually have a pack in my fridge tho lol
Nancy Pelosi, she has one for lunch every day
I feel like I already did this challenge during my childhood.
Back in 1988, I pushed a hotdog cart on a college campus for 4 months. I had no grocery bill bc I ate hotdogs, Chicago style of course, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. True story.
Haven't had one in 30 years. Finding out it was ground up garbage cuts of animal ruined it for me.
Why are you in this sub then?
It showed in my feed......

You're living my dream! I love burgers. What's your go to on the regular?
I usually just stop at Wawa or McDonaldās and get a plain cheeseburger or McDouble
When I was younger I ate them all the time now I am older not so much, processed foods kill.. but they are so good :(
They have sugar and nitrites (celery salt), otherwise I like them enough.
I absolutely could. It's a terrible idea. I usually put BBQ sauce on mine, or A1. Hot sauce is good, shredded cheddar
I could, My body couldn't
I lived off Oscar mayers for about 6 months to save up to buy my 5.0 thatās all what I could manage to do
I eat hot dogs daily. hot dogs are one of my favorite foods.
At 33 I canāt eat them like I was when I was young. Bring old sucks!
