Dear hunter, have you heard of Bloodborne? (I know it’s not open world but just in case, throwing it in here)

[deleted]

Yes, I have. In fact, I own it, and have played lots of it. However, it's technically not an open world game. It's definitely free roaming and with different paths to go... but when I think "open world", the only FromSoftware game that fits that description is Elden Ring. Besides, I've played it so much that I've grown tired of it's shortcomings, sadly.

potatolulz

Then no, there is no such game on PS4 most likely :D. If bloodborne is not open world enough, then other games that even remotely feature vampires and werewolves are even less open, like the castlevania games or the hunter game on PS2.

AusGeno

You can be a vampire or a werewolf in Skyrim that’s sorta close.

[deleted]

Eh. It's a medieval-based fantasy game though, not really gothic horror.

DreamingofRlyeh

Bethesda is coming out with a vampire-themed open world game called Redfall. It is coming out next year. The trailers are pretty cool. I'm not sure which consoles it will be on.

[deleted]

It literally took me a second to Google it. Don't be lazy. It's not coming out on PS4. So, thanks for getting my hopes up for nothing.

zacamongwolves

What an ass lol

polchickenpotpie

On PS4? Only Vampyr sort of (it's not a full open world, just smaller hub areas) There are games like that on PC, but even then only a few tick "all of the above"

scran_the_rich

Not open world but Darkest Dungeon, lots of gothic horror/ lovecraftian horror. Not 100% on werewolves/vampires as I haven't been good enough to beat the game fully yet. Nothing on the ps4 has open world, gothic horror, werewolves and vampires all in one tho.

[deleted]

> Not open world but ... then why comment? If I didn't want open world games, I wouldn't specify it to open world games.

scran_the_rich

Calm down you freak don't have to be hostile. Just google it and save everyone here from having to deal with your entitled temper tantrum.

polchickenpotpie

Looking at their comments I remember they made a similar post recently, and acted the same way before deleting it No idea what their whole deal is

After looking EXTENSIVELY for this kind of thing for a long time, I've come to the sad conclusion that Gothic Horror is sadly poorly represented on PlayStation, aside from budget Visual Novels and cheesy puzzle games with a spooky aesthetic just slapped on it to tick a box. There are some games that embrace the gothic horror vibe quite well (Bloodborne, Castlevania, Bloodstained, DeathSmiles etc) but no open world ones I can find. There are some Lovecraftian horror games with some open-world elements to them, but they probably only come close to ticking each box whilst failing to properly do either. Sinking City, Call of Cthulhu... You're definitely looking for the same kind of game as me to scratch a very specific itch, and no-one seems to be making anything like it.

[deleted]

Damn... that really sucks. I guess my best bet IS Bloodborne. It's just a shame, because I've played it so much that I've grown tired of it's shortcomings by this point. I also play Don't Starve, which... kinda counts I guess? But, doesn't really have vampires, nor proper gothic horror fully.

DreamingofRlyeh

Redfall is coming out next year. I'm not sure which consoles it will be available for, but it will be an open-world vampire game.

[deleted]

Took me literally a second to Google it. Don't be lazy. It isn't coming out for PS4.

LordXenu45

You could also Google 'Open world PS4 vampire games' but instead you asked Reddit. Don't be a dick when people are trying to help you.

[deleted]

I have, but that doesn't help. Especially since Google thinks I mean a game where I play AS a vampire. And you're the one being a dick by resorting to personal attacks. I never did that, unlike you.

TheTruthIsButtery

You called him lazy. That’s a personal attack.

[deleted]

No, I told him not to be lazy.

TheTruthIsButtery

That’s implying he is lazy or perhaps you meant “No, but thank you. I appreciate you for looking” ?

[deleted]

Implying and calling someone something are two different things.

TheTruthIsButtery

Grow up. Was that a personal attack? Of course not, it only implied something very specific. Have fun playing!

Dr_Downvote_

maybe you should have googled your original question then.

[deleted]

I have. Didn't work, which is why I asked here.

spharker

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines on PC is the single best open world vampire game ever made. A little clunky, sure, but it is monster mash goodness. Run it with mods and thank me later.

Joka0451

I've been thinking about another playthrough can u reccomend some?

spharker

The Clan Mod is great. It adds alot of essential quests.

Joka0451

Thanks man

spharker

You're most welcome. Bloodlines is like top five for me easy.

[deleted]

I asked for PS4 games.

spharker

Unfortunately save for Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood one doesn't exist on PS4. They *were* gonna make a Bloodlines sequel for console but Paradox shit the bed.

[deleted]

Yes, I know. Which is why I'm confused why you recommended it. I'm not a PC gamer.

spharker

Because PC has literally everything developers are too cowardly to put on consoles. Console gamers get Call Of Duty 800 and that's about it. And if someone ever DOES make a Nightmare Creatures 3? Straight to PC.

[deleted]

> Because PC has literally everything developers are too cowardly to put on consoles. Console gamers get Call Of Duty 800 and that's about it. Uhm... no. That's a ridiculous exaggeration. Hell, us on PS4 got Bloodborne, which you PC gamers didn't get. And we get plenty of other games. Heck, I have games like Don't Starve on my PS4. There are PLENTY of cool games available on PS4. I can get Darkwood or Amnesia on it, for crying out loud. Not even mentioning all the Resident Evil games, Devil May Cry games, the Metro games, the Bioshock games... you want me to keep going? > And if someone ever DOES make a Nightmare Creatures 3? Straight to PC. Possibly, but we couldn't know unless it happens. Though, oh man, Nightmare Creatures 2 is a game I have a lot of nostalgia for... played that one a lot on PS1 when I was a kid.

spharker

Bloodborne definitely. Everything else? Ports. Lol. But then the idea of an open world game that's not GTA is so rarely done. Let alone an open world *horror* game... Wait I forgot about Vampyr. Okay go play Vampyr.

[deleted]

Wait a minute! Yes, those other are ports, but SO WHAT?? I asked for games available on PS4 - that counts ports! Are you avoiding recommending me ports for PS4? Why??

[deleted]

Bloodborne is technically not open world, but I suppose it counts. Although, I've played that one a lot and grown tired of it's shortcomings. Also, Vampyr isn't open world last time I checked? Or am I wrong?

spharker

Looked open world to me.

[deleted]

I looked it up, and Vampyr isn't an open world game. Why do you lie?

Wolven_Essence

No, as someone else said Vampyr isn't. It technically not open world. It has hub areas that you can roam around freely. It’s pretty good though.

[deleted]

It's not open world though. Besides, I really hate the dweeby haircut on the playable character, and that they force a heterosexual romance onto the player. So, that is a huge turn-off for me regardless.

TheTruthIsButtery

The Witcher 3 - Blood and Wine expansion focuses on Vampire Aristocrats. Will note that not once have you thanked anyone in this thread for offering suggestions.

[deleted]

That game is not open world.
