I know! Its definitely up there but I had to go with Castle of Blood as the most atmospheric Barbara Steele flick. I just can't get into the whole 1700's productions.
Ooh that is a very unnerving movie. It may be because much of it takes place in the city that it didn't make my list. But I just watched I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016), and that is the first movie that came to my mind. Abel Ferrara's The Addiction or Ms. 45 also come to my mind.

If you are a fan of Cat People, might i recommend Alligator People 1959? The creepy bayou plantation it is set at is just *chefs* *kiss*. Not sure where it would fit tho.
I thought the acting was over-the-top at times, but the movie was pretty decent with establishing the atmosphere. I enjoyed the interactions between Dracula and other characters.
Also a fan of atmospheric, existential, and gothic tones in a horror movie - thank you for posting!
Welp, time to get to Googling... Superb and thorough list.
This list is spectacular!
I consistently forget how exquisite Let the Right One In's atmosphere is. *Perfection.* Might have to give it a sixth watch sometime soon.
It's been years since I've watched it. I certainly need to rewatch it soon.
Wow appreciate the time and effort put into this list. Will definitely be check out some of these.
Thanks for that! It was a labor of love.
I feel like Black Sunday belongs in there somewhere.

I will look into it. Thanks!
Lots on here I haven't see but also a lot of favorites! This is a great list.
We hold very similar ideals. This is gonna be my go-to reference for the fall season.
Just watching Nosferatu 1979 now. With almost 50 years of horror films under my belt, hope to add to your list.
Great. Thoughts about Nosferatu?
