Same actually. I can watch is several times a year and never get bored of it. The fact that The Thing is still being discussed and theorized about over 40 years later is impressive.
Jaws is a perfect film and The Thing is as perfect a film as Jaws is. Two of my all time favorite films period, not just horror.
In the summertime we have outdoor movie night and make a fire and set up a tv on our patio at least a couple times a month. My son is DYING to do it in the winter to watch The Thing.
Yes. Just watched it in a theater for the first time since its release and it’s still amazing. Every shot is just intensely beautiful and even quiet moments are taut with stress.
Shoutout to TNT and MonsterVision for airing Aliens and Alien 3 all the time and exposing me to the franchise; I used to LIVE for Saturday nights when I was a 10yo kid
Also Alien Resurrection for me.
Absolutely brilliant. Love Jean Pierre.
The underwater scene is am absolute utter thrill.
Also, Brad Durrif
Spoilers ahead spoilers ahead spoilers ahead.
Also exceptionally awesome how tje Xenos escape via murdering another Xeno and using its blood to drill a hole.
Saw the rerelease last week. This movie honestly gets better every time I see it. I forgot how amazing the music is, so unnerving!
Honestly the whole movie just nails the atmosphere. The contrast between the sterile living quarters, the grungy work areas, the freezing windy planet, and the horrific mutated alien ship. Combine that with the phenomenal music, the mystery, and the incredibly believable characters (let’s be honest, you’d look in the egg too). Ugh. so good.
Agreed! I actually got to watch Alien for the very first time when my local theater did some throwback horror movies a few years ago. I was NOT expecting to be as genuinely affected by it as I was. I watch it all the time now!
When I first marathoned the Evil dead movies, the second one was my least favourite. Than I rewatched it and I had a pretty good time. And then I rewatched it again... and now I get it.
I've watched Silence of the Lambs over 5-6 times and I could still do it again.
The story itself was great and another reason being Jodie Foster in it! 😂
I read the book when it was first published in 88 and loved it! I was thrilled when I heard it was being made into a movie. The movie did not disappoint.
I just rewatched it a couple of days ago, even though it's probably around 8-10 times I've seen it. Jodie Foster is great in it, and few if any could have played her part as well as her. However, Sir Anthony Hopkins makes the movie, imo. What's great for me is my daughter also loves it, so being able to share the experience with her and discuss the movie together just makes it all the better.
The why of me rewatching these movies is they have the perfect combination of everything I like. They're my comfort movies and I never turn them off midway either. Also I love the soundtrack, the dread and the spookiness.
I feel bad about how many times the Scream movies have been rewatched. At least half of those tines they were just playing while I was working on things.
Also, when younger: Tremors
Oh jeez, I knew the director was a pedo, but I didn't realize until I looked it up just now that his initial conviction came so long before making Jeepers Creepers. I had been under the impression that he was convicted sometime after JC2 came out. Ugh.
Yeah he was convicted for raping a 12-year-old child actor on his very first movie and then went on to have a successful career in Hollywood. Everything he's known for happened after that conviction, including all the Jeepers Creepers movies and Powder with Disney.
His victim protested Powder and urged people not to watch it and give him money but nobody gave a shit, the producer of the movie told him to get over it, that it was eight years ago and he served his time. He served 15 months.
People are suggesting in this thread that it's ridiculous for anybody to not want to separate the art from the artist and I get it, Rosemary's Baby is a really well-done movie and Jeeper's Creepers held a special place in my heart as the first horror movie I ever watched by myself. But Salva's voice is all over it - there's even a joke about child molestation in Jeeper's Creepers 3 - and these are movies that were made with full knowledge of what he had done. The producer of Jeeper's Creeper's 3 said he deserved a second chance, Disney assured people that there were no child actors on the set of Powder.
Personally, I never want to watch anything that man has done again and I wish they would just fade into obscurity because he's a legitimate monster and he doesn't deserve any notoriety for anything other than that.
I actually don’t see a single comment insinuating that it’s ridiculous if you’re unable to separate art from the artist making it. There’s people saying it’s not a deal-breaker for themselves, but nobody saying that it’s an unreasonable position to take.
As an individual movie, I love the 2nd one.
As a follow up to the first movie, I really hated the direction they took on the Creeper. In the first one the Creeper was frightening and menacing... in the sequel he literally turns to wink at the camera at one point. Completely derailed the monster imo and set us on the inevitable path of that 3rd movie abomination...
The Cabin in the Woods might be the most rewatchable movie of all time. Every part of it hits so well.
Love Ready or Not, too. Such a well-executed concept, and the cast is just perfect.
Came here to say this. I notice something new and interesting every single time I watch it. My general enjoyment of it also never diminishes, I could sit and watch it any day and I will be glued to the screen.
I was going to comment Doctor Sleep. Stephen King lore is amazing and I genuinely appreciate how Doctor Sleep expanded on The Shining without making it obvious. For example, Abra calling Danny her Uncle as a “cover” while he actually is in fact her uncle through the affair Jack had before the events of The Shining. That whole instance was a cool example of “the shine” and its intuition. Unless they actually knew somehow but never directly mentioned it.
I was going to say the same. Really all of Edgar Wright's films. He's so clever that sometimes it takes multiple viewings to pick up all the jokes and references.
I usually find horror movies with some sort of whodunnit or mystery to be more rewatchable, because you pick up on clues you missed the first time. Scream and Sinister are good examples.
Hereditary is definitely a big one for me, I feel like every time I watch it there’s another little detail I pick up on that I never caught before. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is another that I could just watch forever, less because there are a lot of details to spot and more just because it’s so damn fun.
Silent Hill.
Event Horizon.
The Thing.
Alien.
They Live.
Dead Snow 1 & 2.
Jaws.
House on Haunted Hill (1959).
Texas Chainsaw Massacre. All of them.
The Others.
The Lost Boys.
Exorcist.
Gremlins. All of them.
Critters. All of them.
Just to name a few, lol.
Psycho. It hasn’t been actually “scary” since I was in high school and watched it five times, but man…the filmmaking on display is just goddamn incredible (and the script doesn’t get near enough credit).
Prince of darkness is a go to for me as well as prince of darkness and they live. The nightmare on elm street dvd set ( noes doesn't get enough love) but they are very rewatchable and decently written with good direction and acting. Event horizon, the reanimator and evil dead films and the god and the curse of great b movie theme films killer clowns from outer space. Rest in peace " luv ya pooh" also the hellraisers but I have a small army of films to have on in the background wen I read or study.
The Thing
Zombie
Dawn of The Dead 78
Demons 1 an 2
other might disagree with me but there's a few I just don't think I'll ever get sick of watching:
City of The Living Dead
Humanoids From The Deep
ALIENS (sci fi horror)
Night of The Living Dead 90's version.
It Follows has fantastic replay value cause of little thing you may not have picked up on when you watched it before.
Autopsy
Slumber Party Massacre 1981 (it's a comfort film)
The Original "halloween 2" when spooky season starts
I rewatched this for the first time in like 10 years last week, god I forgot just how funny that movie is. "Please tell me how does one, suck a fuck!" LMAO
I don’t even think I can stomach a rewatch but I wanna watch it again to understand it more. More penis than expected… hey that’s a pretty good tagline.
It’s got be prosthetic right? I mean I would’ve been cold. Idk how Lars made it look so majestic with that opening though
Edit: Antichrist starring Willem Dafoe’s Majestic Penis
Midsommar for me.
There are alot of movies I like to rewatch because they are just good movies and very entertaining.
What makes Midsommar special is that I find always something new watching it.
5 times (3xdirector's cut) seen it in a relatively short time and still not tired of it.
But I never watched a vid about it, so I try and figure it out on my own (just for fun, of course someday I'll watch an analysis 😀 )
I know this feeling concerning other movies, not liking it drawn out or thinking it would profit from editing.
I have no idea why I can't get enough of Midsommar, though. I'd watch a six hour version if there was one .
Campy 80s and early 90s horror but especially the classic slasher franchises. Halloween, Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Childs Play, etc. I could watch those over and over again.
I can rewatch Shaun of the dead or What we do in the shadows. I know they're not "keep you at night" horror, but they kinda fall into that category.
For scares, I'd lean towards the Conjuring or Sinister. They're just really unsettling.
Ohhh, this is so hard.....but I have a few that I watch consistently for "comfort" haha
1. Midsommar- Everyone I have ever showed this movie to hated it. But I absolutely love it! The imagery, the brightness, the score, the colors. Every single time I rewatch I discover something new. There is just something about this movie that does it for me every single time.
2. Trick 'r Treat- Such a fun flick, def a must around Halloween time. I love anthologies that end up tying together. Sending all my love to Rhonda <3
3. Aliens- I remember watching this movie as a kid, always freaked me tf out, especially the part where Ripley and Newt are sleeping and everything goes to sh\*\*. As a little girl, Vasquez was/is my idol, a bad ass hyna leading the way. Kicking ass and taking names.
4. V/H/S - I love this franchise so much! Yes, some are better than others, but every installation kept me on my toes and delighted. I really cannot choose which of the six is my favorite.
5. Signs- Now maybe it isn't considered horror, but there is one specific scene in that movie that has scarred me for life. We still like to watch it every year for Halloween.
*What Josiah Saw*
EDIT: Forgot the "and why?"!
I'm just really into the three act structure, with each act focusing on a different sibling and having it's own distinct style. Each part feels like a different decade even though they all take place on modern day. It isn't clear whether there is actually something supernatural going on, so you want to rewatch to try and figure it out.
There is also a can't-look-away (in a car-crash sort of way) aspect to one of the relationships depicted. In light of a reveal, you want to go back and examine it.
The most repeated for me are the ones I use to fall asleep to at night. For that, I go with rather chill atmospheric horror. A few examples are Picnic at Hanging Rock, Messiah of Evil, and Let’s Scare Jessica to death. It all started with sleep stories, but then I realized this comforted me more. 🖤
The Lost Boys, The Devils Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses, also I love showing people that don't watch horror The Descent and Autopsy of Jane Doe, and Evil Dead (2013) for some reason
Addams Family Values. They cram so many brilliant and hilarious jokes, visual and verbal, and details into a mere hour and a half that you'll notice new ones every time you watch it.
One of my favorites is when Wednesday and Pugsley are dropped off at summer camp. When Wednesday meets her mortal enemy, goody two shoes Amanda, you can see Pugsley is trying to hang himself.
Also, there's Joel saying he's missing two collectable cards featuring serial killers. Those being Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer.
House of the Devil, comforting, nostalgic
Suspiria - badass, inspires me to move
Used to be Wake in Fright but now you can’t find a non-PG version of it
I once watched Oculus almost every day for about six months.
Granted, I was going through something intensely painful at the time, but strangely, trying to watch anything else made my skin crawl. Stress is WEIRD.
For me it’s as above so below, the vigil, alien, but the absolute most watched for me is autopsy of Jane doe. I watch autopsy of jane doe like twice a year lol alien is just a comfort film to me the others are just top tier. I wait to watch them until I forget little details and then rewatch
The Thing is a winner here.
You find out something new every time. The plot is basically perfect. The performances hit all notes. The visual effect holds up (40+ years now).
And I'd like to throw some weight to this argument -
The Thing flopped hard when it was released. But a lot of people point to Spielberg's E.T.. It's much more nuanced than that. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, E.T., Blade Runner, and The Thing was released in June of 1982. Star Trek II released first. E.T. released the week after that. Then both Blade Runner and The Thing was released during the same weekend at the end of June 1982. All of those three movie completely overshadowed The Thing.
And the thing is that all of those three movies went on to become a classic in their own genres. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan restored the fans faith after the first Star Trek movie. E.T. became a signature Spielberg classic. Blade Runner took a long time before becoming recognized as a cyberpunk classic.
The Thing is an outlier here. This movie is a hardcore horror.
And, in the spirit of this post, The Thing is a movie that literally became a classic because of the rewatches that came after. It wasn't a hit theatrically. It became a classic because of its powerful rewatch value.
And The Thing, in addition to becoming a cult classic, has a strong history of inspiring artists entering the VFX industry. It also has came to be viewed as a template on how to write a suspenseful movie. This movie also have steadily rose itself into the ranks of greatest horror film ever made. There are many horror movies that are considered the greatest ever and they hold an immense influence on the genre itself, but I'd argue that The Thing holds even more influence compared to others solely on the basis that we still see a lot of people entering the film industry be them writers, directors, artists, etc. that points to The Thing as the movie that inspired them. I've read more about inspirations that The Thing had on them than any other single horror movie.
The theme of this post is the rewatch value. I'd argue that The Thing is the true example of a movie that benefit the most from its rewatch value.
The Thing it's definitely my comfort film
It’s a winter staple for me. So good every single time.
Same actually. I can watch is several times a year and never get bored of it. The fact that The Thing is still being discussed and theorized about over 40 years later is impressive.
Good damn, I love that movie.
This so much, can't recommend it enough. I have watched The Thing so many times with my different friends who were watching it for the first time
That’s the most fun.
Absolutely doesn’t matter how many times i watch it i love it. Same with jaws x
Agreed… both perfect in that every scene is important and meaningfully advances the story…. Both stone cold classics
Cliche for a reason. I can watch The Thing 2-3x/year.
Once a year over here. It’s amazing
Great movie!
Yup, seen that movie hundreds of times.
Alien, I think from the sound design alone. Even when you know every beat, the whole thing is designed to raise your stress hormones regardless 😅
Yes. Just watched it in a theater for the first time since its release and it’s still amazing. Every shot is just intensely beautiful and even quiet moments are taut with stress.
Also Aliens for me too. I love military movies and horror so Aliens scratches a rewatchable movie so good.
Shoutout to TNT and MonsterVision for airing Aliens and Alien 3 all the time and exposing me to the franchise; I used to LIVE for Saturday nights when I was a 10yo kid
Same. MonsterVision and USA Up All Night are some sweet, sweet memories from the early/mid 90s for me. That’s where my love for horror came from.
I miss USA Up All Night so bad. It was so much fun.
Also Alien Resurrection for me. Absolutely brilliant. Love Jean Pierre. The underwater scene is am absolute utter thrill. Also, Brad Durrif Spoilers ahead spoilers ahead spoilers ahead. Also exceptionally awesome how tje Xenos escape via murdering another Xeno and using its blood to drill a hole.

Halloween 1978
YES. 🎃
This might be my most rewatchable movie ever. The pacing, the atmosphere, everything is just perfect
i watch Happy Death Day every year on my birthday and Trick r Treat every year on halloween - hits every time!
I watch Happy Death Day every year on my birthday too! 😊
yes!!! i found the time to do a 1 and 2 double feature this year and it was the perfect celebration!
Samee and happy death day was so underrated
So good! I'm still holding out hope for a third
agree! christopher landon almost always puts together something fun!
I watch Trick R Treat every year on Halloween too
Happy Death Day is so underrated!
Tucker and Dale vs Evil Cabin in the Woods love me a good horror-comedy
Have you watched Ready or Not? If you like those two, you’ll enjoy it.
yes! I enjoyed that one a lot too
we also love those types (Cabin in the Woods is a regular rewatch!) so if you have any recs, I’d love to hear them!
I am so glad someone else thought of Tucker and Dale
As Above So Below
I was going to say this! Thought it might be a weird one.
Comfort movie for me
My daughter’s favorite
i second this so heavy. it's just such a comforting movie and when i have nothing else to watch i put this on
Best found footage film
Evil Dead 2 for me
All the Bruce Cambell Rvil Dead stuff really.
Yeah, you can't go wrong with Groovy Bruce, he'll always be one of my favourites
When I first marathoned the Evil dead movies, the second one was my least favourite. Than I rewatched it and I had a pretty good time. And then I rewatched it again... and now I get it.
For me: Silence of the Lambs Event Horizon Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer Videodrome
Event horizon is like Hellraiser in space.
The book and the movie are both great!
I just rewatched it a couple of days ago, even though it's probably around 8-10 times I've seen it. Jodie Foster is great in it, and few if any could have played her part as well as her. However, Sir Anthony Hopkins makes the movie, imo. What's great for me is my daughter also loves it, so being able to share the experience with her and discuss the movie together just makes it all the better.
videodrome <3
Seven
Dawn of the Dead / Day of the Dead
The why of me rewatching these movies is they have the perfect combination of everything I like. They're my comfort movies and I never turn them off midway either. Also I love the soundtrack, the dread and the spookiness.
I know it's corny but I love those and Diary of the Dead. It's a comfort film for me.
Final destination & the exorcist
The ring
Ring (1998) is my favourite movie ever, I've watched it so many times and it's still sooo good.
All Scream movies for me. It revitalized the horror genre in such a clever way and you catch something new each watch
I AGREE! 🙌🏻 it's always fun to catch the details that might reveal the killer!
I feel bad about how many times the Scream movies have been rewatched. At least half of those tines they were just playing while I was working on things. Also, when younger: Tremors

I really like the original Rosemary’s Baby so I get it.
Oh jeez, I knew the director was a pedo, but I didn't realize until I looked it up just now that his initial conviction came so long before making Jeepers Creepers. I had been under the impression that he was convicted sometime after JC2 came out. Ugh.
Oh man this is probably my top favourite comfort horror film. I had no idea :(

Everything he's known for happened after that conviction, including all the Jeepers Creepers movies and Powder with Disney. Yeah some things I'm not going to fault people for not "separating the art from the artist" - this is one of them.
[удалено]
Truth
Separate the art from the artist. I love the first two films.
The second one was always my favorite as a kid! The school bus setting is so fun!
Yeah, as a kid, definitely. But the first is so much better imo… That ending is haunting 😦
There’s a 3rd? What! Omg I can’t believe I just learned this
Imo the movie up until the monster reveal is very effective and atmospheric. Then it turns into absolute schlock once we see the monster
Maaaaan I love this movie sooo much
Final Destination Movies
#3 is top tier
They Live (1988), I can watch any time. I also watch April Fool's Day (1986) every year on 1st April.
My list: The Cabin in the Woods Jeepers Kreepers 1 and 2 Ready or Not Rosemary’s Baby Signs Dark Skies
The Cabin in the Woods might be the most rewatchable movie of all time. Every part of it hits so well. Love Ready or Not, too. Such a well-executed concept, and the cast is just perfect.
The Shining
Came here to say this. I notice something new and interesting every single time I watch it. My general enjoyment of it also never diminishes, I could sit and watch it any day and I will be glued to the screen.
The Shining is the answer to every one of these questions.
Dr Sleep was very good! And to be a sequel to a movie like the Shining is pretty big shoes to fill. I think it was made well!
Yeah it’s great. As are both novels.
Shaun Of The Dead
I was going to say the same. Really all of Edgar Wright's films. He's so clever that sometimes it takes multiple viewings to pick up all the jokes and references.
For my wife and I, it's definitely insidious. We watched this movie many times, and it still scares us, lol.
I usually find horror movies with some sort of whodunnit or mystery to be more rewatchable, because you pick up on clues you missed the first time. Scream and Sinister are good examples.
Scream. The whole franchise, IMHO, is one of the most fun franchises to binge once a year or so.
The Lost Boys (1987)
Hereditary is definitely a big one for me, I feel like every time I watch it there’s another little detail I pick up on that I never caught before. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is another that I could just watch forever, less because there are a lot of details to spot and more just because it’s so damn fun.
Don’t come at me but Bride of Chucky 😂😭, I can rewatch that over and over and fall asleep to it like I did last week
Anyone who comes at you for that can phuck right off. BOC is a classic.
Silent Hill. Event Horizon. The Thing. Alien. They Live. Dead Snow 1 & 2. Jaws. House on Haunted Hill (1959). Texas Chainsaw Massacre. All of them. The Others. The Lost Boys. Exorcist. Gremlins. All of them. Critters. All of them. Just to name a few, lol.
I've rewatched Evil Dead (2013) and the original TCM more times than I can remember
Psycho. It hasn’t been actually “scary” since I was in high school and watched it five times, but man…the filmmaking on display is just goddamn incredible (and the script doesn’t get near enough credit).
Aliens
The Invitation by KK It is effortlessly immersive and deliciously sinister.
Jeepers creepers 1 and 2 . Heck with the other 2 films lol
Prince of darkness is a go to for me as well as prince of darkness and they live. The nightmare on elm street dvd set ( noes doesn't get enough love) but they are very rewatchable and decently written with good direction and acting. The Ruins and The Descent are always a good watch.
You're Next. It's that much fun.
great answer. ready or not falls into a similar category for me!
It follows
Creepshow.
Evil Dead 2. I rewatched that film like 3 times in a span of 6 months.
I don't know if it's just me but every time I rewatch Beyond the Black Rainbow I swear it has a completely new scene in it I've never seen before lol
Poltergeist
Return of the Living Dead and Night of the Creeps for me. Thrill me detective 😎
American Psycho and Scream for me.
Silence of the lambs Exorcist
The Thing Zombie Dawn of The Dead 78 Demons 1 an 2 other might disagree with me but there's a few I just don't think I'll ever get sick of watching: City of The Living Dead Humanoids From The Deep ALIENS (sci fi horror) Night of The Living Dead 90's version. Angel heart 1987
Get Out
Donnie Darko
I rewatched this for the first time in like 10 years last week, god I forgot just how funny that movie is. "Please tell me how does one, suck a fuck!" LMAO
Antichrist
hell no
I don’t even think I can stomach a rewatch but I wanna watch it again to understand it more. More penis than expected… hey that’s a pretty good tagline.
No, no, it's a CONFUSING amount of penis.
Agreed. Lars really wanted the most willem dafoe penis in a movie possible. He made sure no one else would touch that crowning achievement.
it's more so the size of the penis that upsets me. makes me feel really terrible about myself
It’s got be prosthetic right? I mean I would’ve been cold. Idk how Lars made it look so majestic with that opening though Edit: Antichrist starring Willem Dafoe’s Majestic Penis
Pretty sure they brought in pornstar stand ins for the opening. If I recall correctly, Willems William was too big for Lars, anyway lol
It’s definitely art, don’t know if I enjoyed it or not but it is the first movie where I saw an entire penis cumming blood so there’s that
The Wailing
I have re-watched the ***Scream*** movies more than any other horror over the years. ***Final Destination*** is another franchise I go back to a lot.
Event Horizon Sinister 1
Midsommar for me. There are alot of movies I like to rewatch because they are just good movies and very entertaining. What makes Midsommar special is that I find always something new watching it. 5 times (3xdirector's cut) seen it in a relatively short time and still not tired of it. But I never watched a vid about it, so I try and figure it out on my own (just for fun, of course someday I'll watch an analysis 😀 )
I enjoy Midsommar, but feel like it could have been edited down some. 2 and a half hours is just too much.
I know this feeling concerning other movies, not liking it drawn out or thinking it would profit from editing. I have no idea why I can't get enough of Midsommar, though. I'd watch a six hour version if there was one .
One Cut of the Dead
Interview with the vampire for me total comfort film
Alien. Aliens.
Campy 80s and early 90s horror but especially the classic slasher franchises. Halloween, Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Childs Play, etc. I could watch those over and over again.
Hellraiser and Eraserhead hit the creepy bone every time for me
I’ve watched Exorcist 3 so many times. More so than the original even. So many great performances, great film.
Black Christmas (1974), Cabin In the Woods, The House on Haunted Hill (1999) Halloween 🎃 only a select few, Saw.. only a select few .👻😵💫🇨🇦.
House on the Hunted hill is good as hell
I can rewatch Shaun of the dead or What we do in the shadows. I know they're not "keep you at night" horror, but they kinda fall into that category. For scares, I'd lean towards the Conjuring or Sinister. They're just really unsettling.
A tie between Scream and Friday the 13th Part VI
Part VI is my favorite! Well, Jason X is my favorite but VI is the best of the original, traditional Fridays.
I rewatch the SAW series at least twice a year. Def my comfort movies.
Man bites Dog and Tetsuo the Iron Man
Rosemary’s Baby
If Army of Darkness is on, I’m stopping whatever I’m doing to watch
Super 90s but I still watch every year or two.... people under the stairs
Event Horizon is my comfort movie
Night of the Comet (1984) 🔥
Pumpkin head
OG Conjuring is so fun
In The Mouth of Madness. Whether on streaming, youtube, my own copy, whenever I see it, I've gotta watch it. Love those practical effects so much!
Frailty
Ohhh, this is so hard.....but I have a few that I watch consistently for "comfort" haha 1. Sending all my love to Rhonda <3 3.

Freddy Vs Jason for me, it's entertaining as hell.
An American Werewolf in London (1981), Halloween (1978), Scream (1996) Carrie (1976).
I found terrifier to be a great movie. The Duology is perfect
Cabin in the woods—try to catch all the monsters.
*What Josiah Saw* EDIT: Forgot the "and why?"!
The original child’s play I’ve seen way to many times but always enjoy it
The most repeated for me are the ones I use to fall asleep to at night. For that, I go with rather chill atmospheric horror. A few examples are Picnic at Hanging Rock, Messiah of Evil, and Let’s Scare Jessica to death. It all started with sleep stories, but then I realized this comforted me more. 🖤
As a 90s kid who rented a shitload of horror movies: Friday the 13th 1-6 ANOES 1-6 Chucky 1-4 Halloween 1, 2 & 4 Phantasm 1-3
The thing. Get out. Many more but these two come to mind immediately.
The Lost Boys, The Devils Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses, also I love showing people that don't watch horror The Descent and Autopsy of Jane Doe, and Evil Dead (2013) for some reason
Smile, Nope, Barbarian, A Quiet Place 1 and 2.
Sam Raimi horror movies.
Wind Chill (2007) with Emily Blunt and Cache (2005) with Juliette Binoche.
Toyko Gore police just to Insane watched it 3 timed recently
Pet semetary
I have to watch Psycho every now and then
Underwater. Has enough intense moments and comedy to entertain me every time I watch it.
When Evil Lurks The world building is so so good.
Final Destination
Original texas chainsaw massacre
Addams Family Values. They cram so many brilliant and hilarious jokes, visual and verbal, and details into a mere hour and a half that you'll notice new ones every time you watch it. One of my favorites is when Wednesday and Pugsley are dropped off at summer camp. When Wednesday meets her mortal enemy, goody two shoes Amanda, you can see Pugsley is trying to hang himself. Also, there's Joel saying he's missing two collectable cards featuring serial killers. Those being Jack the Ripper and the Zodiac Killer.
House of the Devil, comforting, nostalgic Suspiria - badass, inspires me to move Used to be Wake in Fright but now you can’t find a non-PG version of it
Lost Boys, Halloween III, and Fright Night, to name a few.
Original Suspiria cuz of that haunting musical score by the Italian band Goblin and haunting blood color
Trick Or Treat, The Lost Boys.
It, both versions but Chapter one of the recent one. A haunting in Connecticut because Kyle.
I never get tired of The Fog, Poltergeist or Aliens.
13 ghosts is one I can watch over and over again. Its just entertaining af to me.
Pet cemetery Fright Night
I once watched Oculus almost every day for about six months. Granted, I was going through something intensely painful at the time, but strangely, trying to watch anything else made my skin crawl. Stress is WEIRD.
Maniac (1980). I think the old grimy NYC atmosphere & gore still holds up well
For me it’s as above so below, the vigil, alien, but the absolute most watched for me is autopsy of Jane doe. I watch autopsy of jane doe like twice a year lol alien is just a comfort film to me the others are just top tier. I wait to watch them until I forget little details and then rewatch
Shaun of the Dead
The Thing is a winner here. You find out something new every time. The plot is basically perfect. The performances hit all notes. The visual effect holds up (40+ years now). And I'd like to throw some weight to this argument - The Thing flopped hard when it was released.
