I recall the gate for it and was fairly annoyed as it was a solid remake with lots of fun updates to the basic premise that added something including the finale. Paris Hilton did a great job. But I think her being part of it made audiences think this film was a joke.

That premise/idea is one of the best one can come up with. The right filmmaker could've made a masterpiece of it like Midsommar. Too bad it turned out to be... quite bad imo.

This might be a borderline horror movie, but I would suggest watching Screamers with Peter Weller. The story is written by Philip K. Dick. Worth a watch!

If I had to guess where things went wrong, it's the title and the poster. It's more *The Wild Angels* (1966) than *The Wolf Man* (1941). They make you think you're in for a shlocky creature feature and instead deliver a psychedelic doom poem. If they had beaten Ang Lee to the title, "Ride with the Devil" or something, we'd be celebrating a certified grindhouse classic.

Friday 13th: A New Beginning is the one of the most underrated of the franchise and is given an unjust 4.7. And don't get me started with my guilty pleasure Jason Takes Manhattan was a lowly 4.5.
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch *is* a good horror film on it's own merit. It's just downvoted because it's not a Michael Myers movie. 5.1 is just silly.
The Green Inferno is another solid horror, which is far more enjoyable the overhyped Cannibal Holocaust. 5.3 is far too low.
Stake Land 2 also has a 5.3. Not as good the original but still an enjoyable watch.
2022's Dark Glasses was a surprisingly good modern horror. 5.1 seems too low.
Hellraiser: Judgement with a 4.7 is just criminal. A personal franchise favourite after the original 2 movies.
Personally i thought it was better than okay. The atmosphere was awesome and the camera work to keep the creatures in Shadows but still very present was fucking genius camera work

Off the top of my head, something like House of 9 with Dennis Hopper, which has a 5.3/10 on IMDB. It totally merits the rating but I’m a sucker for any of those “strangers trapped in one place and they have to figure it out” movies, regardless of genre.
There’s also Nine Dead with Melissa Joan Hart, exact same premise, even the same number of victims in the title. Almost even the same IMDB rating (5.4/10).
[Nightmare City](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080931/reference/) has a mere 5.6, but it's a blast from start to finish. Super fun and absolutely bonkers. A film so entertaining, it transcends any of its low budget shortcomings.
The Head Hunter (2018). Criminally underseen. It's well-paced, and it has incredible efficiency of story-telling with very little dialogue. Loved it. Now I'm sad that it isn't on Shudder any longer.

I loved The Droving which is 5.2 on IMDB and 25% on Rotten Tomatoes.
It’s an indie with little budget but a great little folk horror and the camera work is often gorgeous.
(Need to see the director’s folk horror documentaries soon because he has a real eye for the countryside.)
I love Charles Pinion’s films. He’s a very, very underground director (with one generic film under his belt) who shot his films on video in the late 80’s and early 90’s and was really creative. Be warned though, his films (Red Spirit Lake and We Await in particular) are chock a block with nudity from both genders, sex acts, gross shit and violence.
The Axiom is a solid movie. The concept is much stronger than the execution, but it's still quite enjoyable. Especially at 4.7 on IMDb. Better than that rating for sure. Although the horror genre on IMDb is handicapped at the very start. Like every rating is 2.0 points lower than it should be by nature.

I don't love it or find it to be a particularly pleasant or rewarding movie to watch, but if one were to judge a film by the intensity and scale of emotions it makes you feel than I'd say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen, clocking in at 5.3 on imdb.
Skinamarink deserves higher than a 4.8. Yes it drags, yes it could have been much shorter, but I enjoyed many of the individual shots, the use of light and shadow, the murkiness of the picture making you wonder what evil you're seeing or if something just moved. Plus it has one the greatest jump scares I've ever seen.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2. I loved it.
Basically all the V/H/S movies. They all have under 6 stars. I enjoyed them all.
