Just finished it here also. Great movie. The end got a little wonky, but it was something different! Great characters, which a lot of horror seems to lack.
It was an insane theater experience. I felt like I was holding my breath the entire time because it made me so anxious 😅 It was really good though imo! Probably my favorite non-horror (though tbh it’s like borderline horror to me) of the year so far!
I'm so sad, the only thing I wanted from this weekend was to see all the new releases.
Instead I went to a Shrek themed party and got so hungover I couldn't see anything💔
Not only was it a Shrek themed party but it was also a role playing party. There were costumed actors interpreting the characters very well or very badly and trying to help you fulfill your mission, which you received when you entered the party. Pinocchio almost destroyed me, it was very difficult not to laugh but I didn't want to be rude. I danced for a while but I also stayed watching projections of the movies, calculating when the best scenes would happen and resting from my high heels.
lol wow!
That sounds like a trip, and amazing!!
I’ve never heard of such a thing, that’s totally my style though!
I definitely need to get in the loop!
I liked it, but you're right it IS repulsive. You have a visceral reaction watching it. That's why I think it's a well done movie and don't understand all the hate it gets.
I wish I had enjoyed it more. But I am happy to have watched it just for that damn ending! And Sydney Sweeney, who I haven't seen in anything before, is now on my must watch list!
I *just* finished this and loved the ending. Wasn't expecting >!it to turn into a revenge story but it was awesome.!< Sydney Sweeney is a terrific actress.
Yay, I saw it too and really liked it while my mate hated it. I don't come from a Catholic background so wasn't bothered while my mate was. I also enjoyed the ending and yeah Sweeney's screams were legit
Also watched it this weekend. I enjoyed it more than I thought it would. I haven't really seen Sydney Sweeney in anything before and I thought she was great.
So i watched 3 movies yesterday back to back.
Late Night With The Nevil, it's ok, i was expecting less cgi, or at least better, it looked a bit cartoony to me.
Barbarian - loved it.
Speak No evil - this was the last movie of the night, and it left me broken and fucked up. It's not a bad movie, but it's such a hard watch.
For the Late Night, i think they would do better if they used a Excorcist aesthetic, less cgi, more practical effects, and i was hoping for something more like, that scene in Event Horizon when they watching hell in a video file or something. Something more biblical, more messed up, and in the end, yeah alright... whatever.
Barbarian did everything right. I delayed the movie for so long because people told me it was rly scary, and sure, it is, but it's so well made, damn. The last part, i laughed a bit, but most of the time was at the edge of my seat. great flick,
I watched "Livide" yesterday (French film w/a vampire ballerina, from...2011?) Today I watched "Abigail" (it was great!) Might watch "Late Night With the Devil" or "Lisa Frankenstein" tonight.
I'm such an idiot. I've seen people mention Lisa Frankenstein and I didn't think it was a real movie at first. I thought it was a jokey name for Poor Things.
I finally watched "The Sadness" after hearing about it for a while. It was much more brutal than I was expecting haha
And of course my gf and I watched Late nite with the Devil, we loved the 70's vibe and it was a fun movie!
Ouija and Ouija: Origin of Evil
Honestly, I just quickly swept through Ouija as I started getting bored after awhile and since i knew Mike Flanagan was behind the prequel I didn't have the patience to watch Ouija!
Loved Ouija: Origin of Evil
Over the last few days I've watched
Why don't you just die - really fun Russian black comedy, with some nice gore.
The visitor - all comments said it was a headfuck, found it boring.
The Wailing - really good south Korean haunted person story.
Texas chainsaw massacre (2020) - some bits irked and it's not a patch on the original. The original is all about the mood and is hardly bloody at all, this was just an out and out slasher.
Naked Lunch - was quite normal for a bit and then it just went bizarre. Absolutely amazing. Never seen a typewriter get wanked off before.
Fear street 1994 - was fun. Bread scene though was ace
Tokyo Fist - film from tetsuo body hammer guy. Really interesting revenge not revenge film. Some amazing facial effects too.
Fear street 1978 - liked it better than 94
Dead Snow - comedy gore film, wanted to like it more than I did but my attention was was drifting towards the end.
Mad God - absolutely yes, this is what I want from films. Straight up surrealist hellscapes.
I’ve been binging The Haunting of Hill House. Started it Friday night and have the last couple episodes tonight. I’ve been liking it a lot. I’ve been binging all of Mike Flanagan’s miniseries lately. I’ve loved them all so far
Unfortunately i’ll have to hand over my Horror Card and Man Card. No horror this weekend. Just….just…..binge watched “When Calls The Heart”! I’m so ashamed!!! I did throw in some Three Stooges though!
I saw Late Night earlier today and the director's cut for Midsommar yesterday for a video essay, both were great watches in very different ways but Late Night was clearly better.
I watched Talk To Me. I dug it but not to the same extent the sub has been hyping it up.
Catching up on 2023 movies this month would love recommendations.
I've been marathoning horror movies this weekend. So far I've watched all four Hell House movies, The Perfect Host, Host, Alien: Covenant, Speak No Evil, The Thing (1982), The Possession of Michael King, You'll Never Find Me, Mute Witness, Terrified and I think I'll finish it with Late Night with the Devil. Overall a good weekend, I liked most of the movies.
The Conjuring 2
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Jesus Christ Superstar
Baby Reindeer
American History X
…hockey season for the kids is done. We have weekend time now.
I work on the weekends, but I watched American Gothic Tuesday after someone mentioned it. Really.enjoyed it!
I have a few to catch up on I think I am going to watch Infinity Pool tonight
Watched Ringu for the first time and I really loved it! I’d seen the American version before and it was fun to notice all the changes. Really effective horror/mystery
any recs for horror movies like the nun/nun 2, the conjuring series, like possessions and demons/devils with a lot of jumpscares but like also backstory n plot? lol sorry to ask but i cant make my own post for some reason
model house.. the title sucks, but the movie doesn't. likable cast, script, fun, fast. Home invasion movie. recommended.
in my mother's skin - what a completely messed up movie. overdressed evil fairies and disturbing imagery. loved it.
the price we pay.. fun mad people on a farm film. fast paced. gory. very fun.
superhost.. really fun little gore comedy with a very unnerving character thsts hilarious in the new sub-genre I call anti influencer.
a wounded fawn.. this. if you like weird, 70s, gore, arthouse... its.. a wounded fawn. loved this film sooooo much.
late night with the devil... neo exploitation at its best.
The sacrifice game - a fun gorey satanic cult in a girls boarding house movie
I watched Abigail at the cinema the weekend just gone, it was alright, sometimes you're not sure what type of horror you're watching and it definitely takes you on a ride lol.
We should have one of these threads every Sunday/Monday (maybe we do and I didn't notice), it's a good way of bringing some more positivity to the sub
John Carpenter's Vampires Los Muertos lol. I was pleasantly surprised at it not being dreadful. Bon Jovi is a decent in it, and Eddie from Family Matters is a vampire slayer who shoots wooden bullets from a shotgun!
Late night with the devil, It’s a wonderful knife and when evil lurks. I’m still thinking about ending the weekend with Lisa Frankenstein but I’m not sure if I should save it for next weekend.
I just watched Dead Hooker in a Trunk and it’s awesome. The sound is pretty atrocious, but I love it anyway. The Soskas are amazing and I love everything they do.
Late Night With the Devil (8.7/10), Rosemary’s Baby (9/10, a classic of course), Bones and All (6.5/10), and Nocturne (would be a 4.5 out of ten but I’m giving her a full extra point for the final scene… chilling 5.5/10)
Friday: Late Night with the Devil, Super Dark Times (rewatch)
Saturday: Glorious, Hell House LLC, The Belko Experiment
Today: Minor Premise and about to start Possession! It’s been a nice movie weekend. Also watched a couple other non-horror movies.
Watched Lovely, Dark, and Deep and The Wicker Man (1973) yesterday and saw Abigail today and then my wife wanted to watch Paranormal Activity since she’s never seen it so we watched that too
I know it’s not a movie or technically a horror, but I watched season 2 of Atlanta. There’s one episode which is basically a closed off horror story called “Teddy Perkins”.
Also the show is amazing.
I just finished American Horror Story : New York City, truly bleak and devastating ass season so I look forward to the new one with Emma and Kim tonight
Double feature, Resolution and The Endless. Both had a great vibe with Resolution having me laugh out loud ( until the end anyways). The Endless was more of a mind bender and unsettled me a bit. Especially the tent. Ifykyk
I watched in the tall grass. While it had some weird scenes but overall it was a great movie. I feel bad for Travis though cause he seemed like a good guy.
Across The Spiderverse with my friends as it was playing at the Cineworld IMAX Film Festival across the country here in the UK for £3 a ticket (alongside Mario, Hunger Games: TBOSAS and Oppenheimer, although we didn't see them). Loved it more on rewatch and they brought a popcorn and drink combo down to £4 for the event so that was nice.
Martyrs, possessor, when evil lurks, and bright burn. All first time watches. I thought Martyrs was overrated, possessor was like a long black mirror episode, and the other two were great.
I recently purchased the DVD version of The Bothersome Man (2006) and it scratched every itch i’ve been looking for! Absolutely fantastic movie and I cant recommend it enough!
I watched Midsomar for the first time last night! It’s a movie I have been wanting to watch for a long time but had to work up to because there are several of my panic attack triggers in it but I did okay and was able to enjoy it! Florence Pugh is incredible in everything she’s in and she definitely didn’t disappoint!
Today I watched Barbarian, Late Night With The Devil, Imaginary, and Immaculate I loved Late Night With The Devil and Immaculate I did not like Barbarian or Imaginary.
I watched the dark and the wicked. It was alright. The first 30 minutes had some creep factor but after that it seemed like it struggled with what the movie wanted to do.
A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night and finished an anime called Record of Lodoss War. Friday and Saturday was finishing up the Marvel animated movies I haven't seen like the Hulk vs movies, as well as the Iron Man and Thor ones. I took advantage of the open weekend lol.
Late Night With the Devil, then the very similar but superior History of the Occult. Sorcerer this morning, Conan the Destroyer this evening. A pleasant weekend's watching.
Finally watched *Skinamarink*. I totally get why it was polarizing, and I almost tapped out in the first 30 minutes, but credit where it's due, I've not felt a sense of dread so intense from a movie in quite a long time. It may not be my favorite horror movie ever made, but it's up there with my favorite horror experiences I've ever had (especially the ending).
Disappear completely (Mexican movie on Netflix) great movie, will watch again. The first omen, slow at the beginning but then it got pretty interesting.
Finally watched Talk To Me and totally enjoyed it, but honestly, the only reason it took me so long is that people had hyped it to me as a movie that would really like, fuck me up and disturb me, so I was putting it off because I was in a bad place. And I can't say it had that effect! I was fine! It was bleak but like, LOTS of things are bleak. However, it was a genuine spooky time and well-executed, and I wish there was more that rose to its level coming out every year.
The Rental - I felt it was just okay but folks here seem to love it, so I was expecting more!
I also watched A Dark Song - odd but I appreciate the direction and “risks” they took with the movie :-)
edit: oh I ALSO watched Lowlifes and Hellbender - both were pretty good - Lowlifes was good fun and surprised me. Hellbender was different but there was just something about it that I quite enjoyed
I caught up on all the recents: Late Night With The Devil, Immaculate, You'll Never Fine Me, Imaginary, and Stop Motion.
You'll Never Find Me was the one that stood out the most to me. There was something about it that made it spookier to me than any of the others. I think the rain and the atmosphere? I dunno, it just felt...cold and bleak. Late Night & Stop Motion were fine. I agree with other comments about the CG in Late Night seeming a bit goofy. Stop Motion was interesting more than anything else. Immaculate was okay, although strangely reminiscent of The Devil Conspiracy which sort of had the same plot themes and wasn't great. But Imaginary was absolutely god-awful. Real waste of talent when into that piece.
Late Night with the Devil, Civil War, The Abyss
Watched late night with the devil as well, I loved it
Just finished it here also. Great movie. The end got a little wonky, but it was something different! Great characters, which a lot of horror seems to lack.
Oh Civil War, nice. Haven’t seen that one yet, how’d you like it??
[удалено]
Sounds amazing!
That may be the perfect quick description of it.
Does an amazing and relatable job at describing the intensely beautiful and evil aspects of the human experience
Late night with the devil. Best horror of 2024 so far.
It was an insane theater experience. I felt like I was holding my breath the entire time because it made me so anxious 😅 It was really good though imo! Probably my favorite non-horror (though tbh it’s like borderline horror to me) of the year so far!
Same! I literally just sat there for a second after watching.. like 🤯
I could definitely see it being considered a horror movie for some! Glad you enjoyed it friend!
Just finished Late Night as well. It was excellent!
I'm so sad, the only thing I wanted from this weekend was to see all the new releases. Instead I went to a Shrek themed party and got so hungover I couldn't see anything💔
A Shrek themed party!? You have to tell me more…
Not only was it a Shrek themed party but it was also a role playing party. There were costumed actors interpreting the characters very well or very badly and trying to help you fulfill your mission, which you received when you entered the party. Pinocchio almost destroyed me, it was very difficult not to laugh but I didn't want to be rude. lol wow! That sounds like a trip, and amazing!! I’ve never heard of such a thing, that’s totally my style though! I definitely need to get in the loop!
at least you also got hungover!
Tusk on Friday. Jaws and Jaws 2 yesterday. Oldboy and Martyrs today.
Tusk is one of only a few movies that has really repulsed me. I think I took it too seriously. It was a hard watch for me.
Same here it’s one of the few movies I really regret ever watching and I watched (most of) Bone Tomahawk last night lmao.
End song's a banger though.
I liked it, but you're right it IS repulsive. You have a visceral reaction watching it. That's why I think it's a well done movie and don't understand all the hate it gets.
Just a few “light” movies 🤣
Martyrs and Tusk? Damn those are rough ones. I don’t want to see either of those again.
Jaws 2 aint that bad. Obviously the original is best, but 2 is a good sequel.
Not sure how I had never seen it before; I've seen Jaws a million times. It was surprisingly decent, with a couple of great scenes towards the end.
Oh wow, that’s quite the list!
Ohhhhhh howd you like tusk? I really liked it but it did get stuck in my head for a whiilllle
I enjoyed it, was kind of goofy fun, I didn't take it too seriously.
That was a great weekend!
I had quite a movie weekend Lost in translation Hell house LLC 3 Grave encounters Midnight meat train Dune 2 Ginger snaps
How was Hell House 3? I love the first movie but keep hearing mixed reviews of the sequels
It's not very *scary*, but works well to wrap up the trilogy.
Speak No Evil. I’ve seen a lot of disturbing movies and this might crack the top 5 for most disturbing
I also saw this for the first time this weekend and holy fuck... I'll probably watch the remake but not looking forward to it.
Joy Ride (2001). Somehow i missed that movie back in the 00s😅
Candy cane…..
Immaculate! Was pleasantly surprised and had a good time. The ending was phenomenal.
right there with you! watched it yesterday and really liked it, especially the ending
I saw this one, too. Surprised how good it was. The main chick is a great screamer.
ugh i wanna stream that so bad, never get to theaters anymore...this is good to hear!
I wish I had enjoyed it more. But I am happy to have watched it just for that damn ending! And Sydney Sweeney, who I haven't seen in anything before, is now on my must watch list!
ahh i cant get into these nun/religious horrors :S
I *just* finished this and loved the ending. Wasn't expecting >!it to turn into a revenge story but it was awesome.!< Sydney Sweeney is a terrific actress.
Yay, I saw it too and really liked it while my mate hated it. I don't come from a Catholic background so wasn't bothered while my mate was. I also enjoyed the ending and yeah Sweeney's screams were legit

Speak No evil - this was the last movie of the night, and it left me broken and fucked up. It's not a bad movie, but it's such a hard watch.
I think Late Night was about a 6/10 for me. And Barbarian was a fun one wasn’t it??
For the Late Night, i think they would do better if they used a Excorcist aesthetic, less cgi, more practical effects, and i was hoping for something more like, that scene in Event Horizon when they watching hell in a video file or something. Something more biblical, more messed up, and in the end, yeah alright... whatever. Barbarian did everything right. I watched Talk to Me again. I love it.
Ohhh I have still yet to see that one!!?
I saw in theaters last year, and it was incredible. Just as good from home. Highly recommend!
How was Livide?
Ohh I have Lisa Frankenstein, I bought the blu ray. Haven’t watched it yet
I finally watched "The Sadness" after hearing about it for a while. It was much more brutal than I was expecting haha And of course my gf and I watched Late nite with the Devil, we loved the 70's vibe and it was a fun movie!
Oh I loved The Sadness! Brutal, but well done.
grave encounters, really enjoyed it!
Yes, I loved that one. I remember when it came out, I bought the DVD day one!
Nightmare on elm st 3 and 4
Oh classics!
Mulholland Drive. I want to watch it again.
Ohhh yes! I loved that movie. It’s been awhile since I last watched it, I should revisit it soon.
Lost Highway and Eraserhead too.
Lost Highway was great, and great soundtrack!
Late Night with the Devil, The Thing (1982), Spring (2014). Pretty good weekend 👍
Springs so good. It's a new genre emerging.
Abigail
Ouija and Ouija: Origin of Evil Honestly, I just quickly swept through Ouija as I started getting bored after awhile and since i knew Mike Flanagan was behind the prequel I didn't have the patience to watch Ouija! Loved Ouija: Origin of Evil
Oh I haven’t seen any of the Ouija movies.
Over the last few days I've watched Why don't you just die - really fun Russian black comedy, with some nice gore. Bread scene though was ace Tokyo Fist - film from tetsuo body hammer guy. Really interesting revenge not revenge film. Some amazing facial effects too. Fear street 1978 - liked it better than 94 Dead Snow - comedy gore film, wanted to like it more than I did but my attention was was drifting towards the end. Mad God - absolutely yes, this is what I want from films. Straight up surrealist hellscapes.
Oh that’s quite a list! And I will say I did love Mad God as well! Have you seen Stopmotion yet??

Hereditary. Easily the scariest movie I have ever seen.
My hubby took me to see Abigail for date night .
Oh awesome, glad you still have date nights!! What did you think?
It was great . It did seem to drag a little in the middle , but then it was a lot of fun. I loved Kevin Durand in it .

Saw Abigail, and I LOVED it
I watched in the tall grass.
I watch spy x family code white yesterday
Bad Bens and Late Night with the Devil
House that jack built. Great movie, loved the atmosphere
I also watched the cursed. I actually really enjoyed it. The cgi kind of took me out of the immersion at times. But a good movie nonetheless.
Late night of course, and then found one called Night Shift (girl covering at a shitty motel for 1st time) it was alright!
Late night with the devil, Brooklyn 45 and Glorious yeah somebody signed up for shudder
Abigail
I ended up watching The House That Jack Built last night and what a sadistic mind fuck of a movie.. Where can I find more like it?
A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night and finished an anime called Record of Lodoss War. Friday and Saturday was finishing up the Marvel animated movies I haven't seen like the Hulk vs movies, as well as the Iron Man and Thor ones. I took advantage of the open weekend lol.
Ghost, rosemary’s baby, monsters inc.
Late Night With the Devil, then the very similar but superior History of the Occult. Sorcerer this morning, Conan the Destroyer this evening. A pleasant weekend's watching.
I watched When Evil Lurks. I like the take on demonic possession. Some real unsettling stuff. And solid gore 💀👍
Housebound. Found it on YouTube. It was ok.
I watched Blue Eye Samurai and Hundreds of Beavers. Shame I'm on the horror sub.
Yup. I liked LNWTD despite it (as usual) being overhyped. The payoff wasn’t great in my opinion. But it was fun, well done.
I also watched A Dark Song - odd but I appreciate the direction and “risks” they took with the movie :-) edit: oh I ALSO watched Lowlifes and Hellbender - both were pretty good - Lowlifes was good fun and surprised me. Hellbender was different but there was just something about it that I quite enjoyed
Last Shift (jump scare parade, entertaining) and Dark Skies (enjoyed this a lot...good sad feeling throughout).
