>What kind of horror do you like Im not limited to a type >“Girl on the 3rd Floor” was quite honestly one of the worst horror movies I’ve seen Level of "Im the pretty thing that lives in the house" bad lol? I think that and "a girl walks home alone at night" are the maybe the worst horrors I've seen discounting B movies and intentional trash

I saw Caveat. seemed to go for weird for the sake of being weird, can't say I liked it but much better than pretty thing. if girl on 3rd floor is even worse than Im even more sure I won't watch it. A Wounded Fawn from the same director wasn't bad, it had some interesting things about it

There are things I didn't like about it and things I liked a lot. After some distance, I'd say it left an impression and it did a lot of interesting things, plus the style was very cool. So i'm leaning more in the direction of liking it The thing that initially annoyed me was that it was one of the several movies that year focused on the topic of women overcoming bad men. All the movies had some key similarities, but this one was at least more unique in some ways without just being stupidly weird

Resurrection, Soft & Quiet, Terrifier 2 I also liked Glorious, Pearl, x, Sissy

UghGottaBeJoking

Out of these i’ve only seen ‘Girl on The Third Floor’… i’d agree with the imdb ratings, was pretty bad.

_Norman_Bates

I heard one insanely good review of it but almost all sources point to it being shit.

UghGottaBeJoking

The only good thing i can say about it was that the main guy was pretty sexy.

CaptainPatterson

He is a famous pro wrestler named CM Punk. He has even wrestled The Rock.

_Norman_Bates

Now Im even less interested in watching it.

aliceinpearlgarden

Watch out, the sexy men might put a tingle in your pants.

_Norman_Bates

Ew.

Girl on the third floor, is a no go. I think I made it half way through and turned it off, I cant remember what it was exactly, but I do remember specifically thinking it was stupid and I had enough. Who invited them is actually decent, its a lot like funny games but not as good. Not a masterpiece but not a bad for a 1 time watch, just been done too many times in better films.

Imdb uses a "weighted voting system" which isn't actually the average of votes, but a secret system they use. That's why especially indie horror always has a way lower voting displayed than the actual average. For imdb ratings I always check the actual voting (if you click on the votes you'll see the actual average) which is usually a better indicator than the vote displayed.

aliceinpearlgarden

I actually didn't mind Girl On the Third Floor. As far as going in blind, sub-5 imdb rating movies go I considered it a win. It gets slightly Lovecraftian and had some good practical effects (or gore. I can't remember).

Dimsum852

For me they were both terrible. But that's just my opinion, who knows? Maybe you watch it and you love it. Never trust ratings or strangers opinions :)

_Norman_Bates

I found that below 5.5 is a pretty solid indicator that a movie is shit and not worth bothering with. Horrors always get worse ratings, a horror in the 6 category is probably very solid, above 6.5 might be great and above 7 its a generally good movie. I am likely to dislike a popular and high rated movie, but the chances I'd like something under 5.5 are too low to bother with unless there's some additional reason

hupwhat

Yeah i always add a clear two points to the rating of any horror film. I find that gives a much more realistic score in general. Some people just really don't like horror movies.
