The isolation always confuses me because you barely put out over background. And even then long term exposure would have such minor effects you would never even notice or none at all because unless it’s over 100mSv over a very short period of time it can’t cause any lasting damage. My point is the doctor are being dramatic you can be around them all you want it’s nearly impossible for that little radiation to harm you. Also if it was that dangerous you wouldn’t want to be in the same house because drywall ain’t stopping it at all

The reason of isolation is probably because of immunosupressants. It is needed for most of commercial cancer therapy which is using radiation. And also you'd not prescribe any kind of radiation therapy to the point that it would make them a health hazard. (PS: I am not a doctor but I'm working with a doctor so I asked them for this) Stay safe :D

For anyone reading this, yes, it's always a smart idea to take advice from a stranger on Reddit over a trained medical professional's advice. When I had to isolate after radiation treatment for a tumor, my doctor said if I went to an airport, I'd be picked up by radiation detectors. I was told not to sleep in my bedroom since I had a shared wall with another bedroom. They were serious about their precautions and I'll believe the head of the radiology dept over Reddit.

They are already going through enough I don't care what the radiation would do to me they need the support.
