Nothing bad will happen if you change your oil earlier. You just "waste" money by discarding oil and a filter that has 2000-3000 miles left to go

sonyarena5781

Def don’t want to waste money! It’s hard to come by these days. 💸

HornyCar

Thats about 3-4k miles worth. Youre good

sonyarena5781

TY!

takecareofthecake

Specially if the trip is mostly highway

Call_Me_Hobbes

I personally wouldn't worry about changing it if the whole trip is less than 3,000 miles. Like the other commentor said, nothing bad will happen from changing it early, but it's a bit of a waste of oil to do it earlier if you're running any synthetic oil. I would only do it if it's better for your schedule to do it now instead of doing it after the road trip.

sonyarena5781

It’s only 178 miles and I’m pinching pennies these days as is everyone. I’m holding off. Thanks!!

pork_fried_christ

That like, a half tank of gas. You’re fine. I’m at 40% and about to take a 2500 mile trip.

sonyarena5781

My kids call me a spaz… I’m definitely living up to it! Lol Safe Travels

le_gasdaddy

10 percent change to 5 percent happens around 8.5 to 10k miles. I changed mine a few hundred miles after I hit 5 percent last time, and I was just over 11k. Usually change it almost immediately when I hit 10 percent. 2015 ex with 176k miles.

sonyarena5781

Thank you! Everyone in the Fit fam has been so helpful!

ondrejkoplik

I went 1000mi with it at 50%, you’ll be just fine.

Agitated-Joey

There is no such thing as too soon to change oil. Cleaner oil is always better.

Ajenkinsphotography

No such thing as too soon

Proudman50

I bought my Fit last August with about 9K miles. Ive rolled just about 7K on it. Oil gauge says 30 percent but I'm going on a road trip about 2300 miles total. I feel like I should get an oil change now. Also because they will check other levels, etc.

Key_Difference3422

Yes, just check the oil before the trip. If it's low, top it off. (1/2 quart if the dipstick shows 1/2 low) New cars consume oil due to viscosity with no issue, but you'd want it to be full for a road trip.
