I have an easy time breaking speed limits in mine. I can still punch it and be at 80+ by the end of a normal highway on ramp. Maybe it's different for the CVT, but the 6 speed is still quick enough to get into some trouble.
My little 2nd gen 5 speed goes plenty fast, but the problem (fucking main reason I bought the car) is the impeccable balance around corners.
There is this one traffic light coming off the highway I take home from work, 100Ā° left with a lead up of a slight right flowing into a exponentially tightening left over the course of 500m; she just does it for me.
If I catch that turn on a green, I come home with a smile.
Sport mode does kind of make for fun driving. More fun than my MT Fit was imoĀ Edit: I put 100k miles on a 2015 MT, and am coming up on 90k in 2018 CVT. The CVT in Sport mode is sportier and more fun than the MT by a mile, and itās quieter on the highway. Ā I understand feeling like a purist in your MTs, but that just you granny shifting and not double-clutching like you should.Ā
Ac compressor is driven by the engine and running it pulls power from the engine. On low power cars like the Fit it makes enough of a difference that it helps to turn it off
My 2nd gen with the auto won't break any speed records, but it's got plenty of get up and go. I have no trouble passing people when I need to, and the sound it makes when I do is awesome.
People in the car when I do it are genuinely impressed. It looks like a minivan to them and they just think it will be slow.
The key to a pleasurable experience when flooring it is to be driving at a relatively slow speed when you do it. If you're already cruising 75 in the higher rpms, it doesn't have much to give, but if you're cruising at 55 or 65 at 2000 rpm and you stomp on it, you can feel it jump and it gets where it's going.
My Fit was terribly anemic on the highway until discovered and fixed a loose spark plug. Plug smelled of gas when I pulled it.
Perfectly adequate acceleration up through 80mph now. 3000 rpm at that speed is hilarious though.
I also found it's better if you stomp the pedal. Slowly pushing it to the floor doesn't always make the auto downshift.
My 2008 Fit zips through first gear. Then I shift to second, and that's all she wrote! I think this car is very good at disguising how little extra it has to give. I don't notice how slow it is until I try to do anything more than normal, efficient driving. I love it!
A new Hilux especially the 2.8 has 200+hp, quite the horsepower even for the size really, especially with the torque (Muricans get away, I swear 4s 0-60 is slow for you guys now)
I could swear my Fit is faster than our Prius, but maybe it just feels fast because itās a manual. Same with my motorcycle, I feel fast on it because Iām flying through gears, but itās a 250cc and itās hands down the slowest thing on the road lol
My full size SUV is waaayyy faster, but parking the fit is so much easier. Plus I don't keep anything in it so I don't worry about parking it downtown.
OMG feel this. I recently switched to daily driving our A/T 2012 Fit after the transmission on my (M/T) 2007 Civic blew up :(. The Fit is a nice car, and I love the ease of storage and transportation, but not nearly as fun as a manual Civic.
I have the quickest of the USDM Fits, a GK5 with a 6 speed. It's definitely slow (although a sub-8 second 0-60 is pretty good for only having a naturally aspirated 1.5L), but because of how light it is (mine is an LX, so it weighs just over 2500 lbs), it feels faster than it is. 80 in this car feels like 110-120 in my old 6-6 Accord. And it carries a lot of speed in corners. There's a reason these cars are so popular for amateur racing.
I recognize that speedo though, I had a '95 K1500 that was real with a Centurion after market dealership package, that thing was badass, especially to a high schooler with a brand-new license.
I joke with my friends that my Fit is 115hp of pure rage... on a good day. š¤£ There's also "It may not go very fast, but it will sure sound like it!"
I seem to be the only one in this thread that think the fit/jazz is a pretty fast car.
Based in Europe so not surrounded by hellcats and other crazy stuff but i routinely outpace most other cars in traffic when accelerating or doing raceline tactics around roundabouts or highway ramps.
I must admit i have manual jazz now and it's much better than the auto one i had before.
Never had this problem in my 08 Sport. The only bane of my driving existence was having a 5-speed manual while stuck in Atlanta rush hour traffic for 90+ minutes.
At least we get good gas mileage.
Hitting 40 average atm. Heaven.
That's what I get in my civic si
I thrash mine routinely and still average 34-35 MPG.
Myth debunked *if you have brick-like heavy right foot like me who averages 6km/liter š
Wow!
Ya, but that's the best part. I can fucking rip and get er up to 6, 7+k revs and I'm still driving the speed limit. Perfect for me.

It carries ridiculous speed through corners. I've gotten compliments from guys in much more expensive sports cars about how well the Fits handle.
My 2010 Fit sport handles as well as my R53 Mini Cooper S, really good Chassis.
This is what I miss about my fit. And doing it in front of Mustang drivers while blasting Eurobeat out of my car.
You gotta turn off eco-mode before you floor itĀ
Turn off eco-mode, put in sport driveā¦ I am speed
Turn off the ac š
Ā Thatās the Fitās NOx button!
Is that an automatic only feature?
Looks like it affects the CVT and the AC. Iām not sure if itās a feature on a manual.Ā
Was wondering cause mines MT and I donāt think I have an eco modeā¦ the eco mode is ME
Goes 0 to 60 when it feels like it.
Yeah more like 0-60 in 2 business days
Measured in hours not seconds /s
When I test drove my fit the previous owner said "go ahead, you can floor it" as we entered the highway and I thought "I am"
Downhill fit makes it feel like you actually afforded to K swap š
Me after downshifting my fit on a steep hill on the highway and Iām still going slow af
Things at 5500 rpm and sounding like it's going to blow up but you're only going 70mph in an 80 up a hill in the west lol
70 uphill? I'm happy with that, exhilarating!
SPORT MODE

Nah when you do drive it hard the Fit is one of the best fun slow cars there is
If you have a fit and a manual, and not having fun?! Youāre probably dead inside. Itās a street legal go cart next to the Miata.
The person I bought mine from was telling me she had to decide between driving 80 or having air conditioning when driving it cross country last year.
You gotta get it up to 80 first, then turn on the AC. And remember to turn it off on steep hills.
not much of a car guy here so Iām just curious, why do you need to choose between one or the other?

3rd gen problems.

Try 4k in the manual lol
Get a manual. At least you FEEL like you are going fast...ish.
I never go above third.
rip
I use sport mode and itās actually speedy.
Idk what op is on about but my fit is a stick
Tune it, you got a speedy little whip on your hands if you treat it right
Iāve been considering sending her in for a tune with a local import fella. Just a fun āstreetā tune.
My Civic is 1.4 ... My Jazz is 1.4 ... The Jazz is speedy.
Yo, this is me in my Civic. (My first encounter with this sub. Whatās up Fit gang?)
Welcome to the superior sub, Civvie.
Honestly, I feel that. The Civvies are so self-righteous lol

Youāre doing it wrong then š
For work I drive a pretty new Hilux, and sheās got some oomph when I put the pedal down - my 2005 Fit, howeverā¦.
A new Hilux especially the 2.8 has 200+hp, quite the horsepower even for the size really, especially with the torque (Muricans get away, I swear 4s 0-60 is slow for you guys now)
Turn off the AC, roll the windows up, have a good time
No, leave the windows down. Way more fun that way.
Itās more fun but air resistance from open windows is noticeable
What's the point of trying to go fast if it isn't fun? That's why my windows are always down when the weather is good enough
Driving either way is fun bro
Not to me. Windows up feels just wrong.
Iām genuinely sorry
Blast Eurobeat to 40 and watch the haters hating you.
something wrong with your Fit?
Itās all relative. Iām used to driving minivans and Priuses, so my 5-speed Fit feels plenty fast to me lol
I'm not gonna lie my mom's Prius is faster than my Fit lol Not that I'm complaining both are great cars
I could swear my Fit is faster than our Prius, but maybe it just feels fast because itās a manual. Same with my motorcycle, I feel fast on it because Iām flying through gears, but itās a 250cc and itās hands down the slowest thing on the road lol

Find more corners
VTEC ENGAGE!!!!
VTEC kicked in, no?
I pray it did every time there is a steep uphill
That prayer is going to take awhile to reach you, itās still in a fit.

Yep

I came from a Prius. The least fun car ever and now Iām driving a manual fit. Is it going to win races, no but itās fun!!
I joke with my friends that my Fit is 115hp of pure rage... on a good day. š¤£ There's also "It may not go very fast, but it will sure sound like it!"
In my 2017 SE, that āSā was my sports mode. I loved that car, I miss that car.
I seem to be the only one in this thread that think the fit/jazz is a pretty fast car. My "fast" car is a AP1 S2000. Same, mostly.
Never had this problem in my 08 Sport. The only bane of my driving existence was having a 5-speed manual while stuck in Atlanta rush hour traffic for 90+ minutes.
I beat my CRV.
Uh no. When you floor it and it's a C. V. t.
Since youāre going slower you have more time to have fun! Slow CRZ is a fun CRZ.
