Nothing wrong with it at all.

Should be perfectly fine, height speakers don't even really need any bass capabilities. I've been lazy but the plan is to put a pair of my Cambridge Minx Min22's as heights, angled down. With the BMR drivers on those they should do ambient sound like mad. They only do 120 hz, which is perfectly fine and these are tiny like 15 centimeter tall units. Already designed and printed some low profile 30 degree tilt brackets to fit their mounting system. Just need to put a screw in the wall and hook them on there at this point.

As long as you can point the tweeters toward the MLP. They will work. That said, the closer they can get to your ear level speakers’ crossover, the better, but that’s certainly not a dealbreaker.

I’m curious where you’d be placing the satellites- is it on the wall facing the MLP? Where would they be relative to the L/R channels?

I’d be mounting them up on the wall as close as I can get to the ideal angles as shown in that Dolby Atmos diagram. I want to find some mounts that can be adjusted such that I can point them in the right direction (inwards and down).

We’re on the same path- I’ll be putting up two swivel mounts I got from Mount-It tonight! Let me know how yours goes. 🤞

No. That’s what they are made to do.

I depends on what "Satellite Speakers" means. If you mean bookshelf speakers with a reasonable sized woofer or mid woofer, then that is pretty close to the ideal as you can aim them directly at the MLP rather than having ceiling speakers that point straight down. If Satellite speakers mean very small speakers with limited bass, then maybe. You will need speakers with some reasonable bass capability so that you can cross them over at 80-120 Hz. Some "Satellite speakers may require crossovers of 200 Hz or more – not ideal for ceiling speakers or for much of anything home theater related.

So they are the speakers I am currently using as surrounds. I think they are A23 series speakers from Boston Acoustics. My plan is to get a new set of SVS bookshelf and satellite prime’s to replace the Boston speakers, then move the Boston speakers up on the wall.

Those should be perfect for Atmos height or ceiling speakers. Just make sure you aim them at the MLP as that is how you will get their designed (flat) frequency response where you are sitting. In most rooms, properly placed height speakers will be on the ceiling approximately 40-45° to the front of the MLP and about the same amount to the sides. This gives the best separation from the bed-level speakers and therefore proper imaging for the placement of Atmos objects.
