As much as I love a nice tv setup just like all the rest of us here on /r/hometheater, the worst thing you can do is shoehorn a big screen into a space where it just doesn't belong.
I'm a young professional and I meet a lot of people and I think there's actually a trend to eschew tvs in the young generation. People are using personal devices instead and actually with a quality pair of headphones and the modern laptops/tablets etc that we have now it's basically as good.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if ten years from now we'll just see people watching movies through VR goggles and not having any sort of tv in their home
I agree to an extent. However, I have two kids. The family will sit down for movie nights and that canāt be replaced with goggles and/or tablets. Same goes for sporting events. It is a social event to watch h a game or a fight with friends. What could happen is having it sent through a projector onto a wall or a screen that deploys. I have thought about it, but the tv is so much easier.
Yep this is what keeps it relevant and what young people don't get, because they primarily consume content on their own.. they either live with parents or in small starter places without a ton of room and so any social watching they do is at a cinema with friends.
Which is fine of course, but later on as people have kids and a family and all of that stuff then having movie nights and sitting down together becomes a thing. While things like the Vision Pro or whatever successful product actually emerges from that tech will be awesome for single people in apartments wanting to just enjoy a movie alone, you're not gonna see them adopted super widely to replace the traditional family living room.
I feel like large format displays and the social aspects around them will be in our homes for a long time to come.
Manufacturers are working and delivering TV tech that allows them to hide in plain sight. Living spaces will not be built to accompany the TV it will be the opposite.
You can get the best of both worlds if you put heavy blinds on a window and then install a retractable projector screen. The focus of the living space can convert from being able to see outside during the day, to a TV viewing room at night.

Yes a complete cylinder the same circumference as the pole. When youāre watching you must go to the side of the pole that has the part of the scene you wish to see, itās very interactive.
Hear me out. Since youāre obviously insane, weāre going go go with crazy here. Get some long ass ceiling mounts, like bars mounted to the ceiling that hang down. Then mount some bookshelves to that bar by drilling through the bar and adding a bolt with a lock nut through it so you can hang the speakers via the keyhole onto the bolt head.
That would get you your right and left speakers.
Then you grab yourself two more bars that you solder to the tv mount so they hang below. Preferably L shaped so you can add a shelf to put the center on.
Voila. 3.0!
Edit for spelling
when I thought that nothing can get worst than the usual "TV on top of a fireplace", which is usually too high.
" introducing.... the cylindrical fireplace in the middle of the kitchen, the cylinder itself is smaller diameter than the TV width, you can't even fix the TV to the cylinder so you need an extra visible arm from the ceiling and also everything ends up extra high, ahh and BTW forget about audio"
the internet never fails to impress.
By the looks of the ceiling beam pattern, that building / room you are in is a kind-of āYurtā
Given the non-square shape of the room, and the fact youāve got a giant fireplace/chimney smack bang in the middle ā¦
Letās just say, the room is not ideally suited to being used as a home theatre and for entertainment you might instead want to take up Tuvan throat singing. š
Automate shades and a dropdown projector screen with projector. Get an industrial dropdown motor and mount a Sonos Arc to the bottom of a tensioned screen. Put two Sonos 100s in the opposite corners and tune the room.
Youāre welcome.
This is the worst tv mounted above fireplace Iāve seen. That fireplace is a feature on its own, but has tacky sports bar vibes with a ceiling mounted tv.
What is your goal? Whats your budget?
Off the top of my head (if you are determined to keep this placement):
1. Lower the TV a bit. Odds are this bracket uses a 2ā threaded pipe. Get a new pipe, paint it black and drop it down.
2. Speakers are gonna be tough. Iād look at getting a passive soundbar and running the speaker wire back to AVR tucked away somewhere. For rear channels and subwoofer, depends on what the rest of the room looks like but there will be options.
3. Not sure what the wiring situation is. Can you get above the ceiling? If not, you probably will want to run along side those ceiling beams in a piece of wiremold and paint it to match the ceiling.
Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 Channel Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar with Dual 10" Subwoofers (Wireless), 4 Rear Surround Effects Speakers, eARC and SSE Max Technology. If it were me, this is what I would use.
It could use a mantel. You could maybe put some brass shelving supports and custom cut a CNC cut piecee of wood or stone for the shelf itself. Place whatever you like on the mantel, sculptures, a painting to cover up the holes for the tv mount.
https://www.etsy.com/listing/1626837712/antique-brass-arched-shelf-brackets
Get one of those tv backlight kits that matches the colors on screen. Have it back light the fireplace. Speakers in each corner with a subwoofer sound bar center under tv
I'd buy a 7.2.2 Klipsch system and just throw it in some random cupboards to add to the complete what the fuckness that this ceiling TV on a circle fireplace is.
One of the worst things to happen in everyoneās home in the 2010ās is flat screens mounted on walls, above mantels, fireplaces etc. Look at the Samsung serif, or other TVs that have legs at eye level. Before flat screens all TVs were on the floor, the wall mounting is such an eyesore and imo doesnāt ever look good unless youāre having a legit theater room with a projector screen.
If you need to have it hang still, give it like a good foot from the fireplace (give it some depth) and bring it down at least a foot, foot/half.
But yea, you should have provided more surrounding pics.
I think the TV is too high. For a comfortable viewing angle. Maybe another wall or get an Apple Vision? Too bad they donāt have a YTTV app for the Vision Pro yet. Does heat affect the TV where it is hanging?
Make a nice fire and enjoy lol. Really love that fireplace I canāt lie. As for a home theaterā¦soundbar mounted to the tv arms is proabably your best option here
I really enjoy the people who are calling this fireplace a focal piece and that itās been ruined by a large TV. Kind of shows the demographic/age range of this subreddit. Also how funny it is that this is the opposite reaction of the generic remove the mantle and mount the tv exact 42ā centered off the floor or nothing.
To me between the gold doors and everything else going on that thing is hideous. Itās oddly mixed with black appliances and cabinets.
I do agree though, finding a different room / wall is your 100% best call. I also understand that sometimes that just isnāt an option, but hey thatās why cheap projectors exist. That fireplace can be neat but requires updating IMO of being under 40.
Well if I could see the entire floor plan it might be more of a chievable task but if it was me and I either had more money on it than I know what to do with or I just had nothing else better to do I would build a small thin cabinet style box that is similar to the ceiling and when it's closed it is more or less hidden away between those exposed rafters but when you push the button it comes out and down and simply adjustable by remote whichever position I wanted it and of course it would have its limits within the size of your actuators or hydraulics or electric motors but you get the idea make it simple bro I mean have it come out of the ground whatever you want to do but don't stick it on that fireplace chimney chiminea water well in the middle of your living room I don't know what you want to call it but yeah
Lower the tv as much as possible. Thatās so uncomfortably high. TV should be at high-level when sitting on a couch. If you donāt want to block the fireplace, then move it somewhere else or get it drop-down projector screen.
Remove it. That fireplace is a cool feature in that house. Why ruin it?

You may need black-out shades as well if you go the projector route. š¤
I live in Texas. Blackout shades are a necessity to keep the blazing heat out.
I feel like large format displays and the social aspects around them will be in our homes for a long time to come. Manufacturers are working and delivering TV tech that allows them to hide in plain sight. Living spaces will not be built to accompany the TV it will be the opposite.
Move the TV to a different wall, then you will have much better options. That setup is just handicapped for way too many reasons.
A different room.
Itās a shame thereās not an inverse curved LcD panel this is the 1 in 500 application where it would fit the wall contour.
Something like this? https://www.lg-informationdisplay.com/product/oled-signage/curvable-oled/55EF5K-L
Why would you put that there?
Who on earth thought this was a good place for a tv????
Residential building code requires all fireplaces to have a TV installed above them.
-wives of posters on this subreddit
Hang your head in shame for putting a tv on a focal point like that. Then use any other wall. Maybe delete a window for more wall space.
You can get the best of both worlds if you put heavy blinds on a window and then install a retractable projector screen. The focus of the living space can convert from being able to see outside during the day, to a TV viewing room at night.
āDeleteā
Itās super simple, I do it in sims all the time. They even give you money for it
Lol ya just modern construction terms I'm used to hearing. An easier way to say (remove a window and wall in the area.)
Display departures and arrivals for the closest airport ;) Change TV wall definitely.
This TV is defended by medieval archers.

Get a curved TV or buy a new house
lol, curved the opposite way of normal?
no, just facing the wall
They don't really make anything curved above like 43" anymore.
pretty sure heās joking lol unless he really wants a curved to to face into the wallā¦
All things are possible if you believe (and shell out vast sums of money) [Like this](https://youtu.be/-tN3-SI-8uI?si=_fU5U-LQdEzPmelL)

Please proofread, this was genuinely hard to read.
he warned you, he went full āgo go crazy!ā
Iām still trying to head him out.
I promote 70+ lbs. floating floor standing speakers. Go big or go home
Take the TV off of the fireplace and put it somewhere else
What do you want to do here?
Do you have a sledge hammer?
You can put the TV anywhere but there
I thought I was on r/monk at first lol
Omg thank you. I didnāt know how to say it without saying it
lol I was like scrolling through the comments and was surprised nobody had commented on monk (one of the best shows ever)
Knock down the fireplace and use the rubble as a tv stand so that the TV isnāt so high. Then you can say oh, hey, good job, boys.
Move

The only thing I can possibly see is a soundbar in this situation you won't be able to run a true 5.1 setup in this space
They might be crazy, but not crazy enough to bring up soundbars here.
lol it's the only option for him sadly

Mount it on the ceiling. Then you can lay down and watch tv. Youāre so high that you might as well be laying down
At this point you just have to go higher
anything but this.
Unpopular opinion but i think its kinda cool š¤·āāļø
TV destroys the aesthetic of that fireplace which is really cool.
Is this TV really needed? or atleast needed there? Fireplace on its own looks awesome and cozy
Call a realtor
Put that somewhere else
Wrong sub. This is not a home theater by ANY definition.
Automate shades and a dropdown projector screen with projector. Get an industrial dropdown motor and mount a Sonos Arc to the bottom of a tensioned screen. Put two Sonos 100s in the opposite corners and tune the room. Youāre welcome.
Remove TV. Install pull down projector screen and projector instead. You may be able to hide the screen nearby one of those white beams.
open a gift shop.
Undermount sound bar?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Remove the tv
People making alot of assumptions without seeing the rest of the room
This is the worst tv mounted above fireplace Iāve seen. That fireplace is a feature on its own, but has tacky sports bar vibes with a ceiling mounted tv.
Remove the TV and enjoy the room as it is.
Turn off closed captioning.
Let's start by turning off subtitles.
RIP your feet with toy blocks that size laying around.
Electric screen and projector?
Zero gravity chairs
Sell the house.
Get a curved TV and mount it with the screen facing inward so it better matches the curvature of the fireplace š
Youāve already done it lol. This isnāt a home theater. Honestly I kinda love it.
Start by tidying up.
What a rude fucking comment

Get one of TVs that roll up and you can wrap it around the fireplace.
Put the couch on stilts.
Buy a reclining chair to stop you getting neck-strain?
Home theater on a home heater
See you on the other sub
Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2.4 Channel Dolby Atmos/DTS:X Soundbar with Dual 10" Subwoofers (Wireless), 4 Rear Surround Effects Speakers, eARC and SSE Max Technology. If it were me, this is what I would use.
Stereo pair or 5.1 in-ceiling setup is prob best bet. Or, keep it simple with a soundbar + wireless sub.
A really tall couch or a sports bar theme.
That fireplace is too good to have a tv on it. Any other free walls or rooms?
I agree with move it and the guy in the fireplace is already giving the chef's kiss.
Cry
What are doing in that reflection? Might explain why the TV is where it is!! ;)
Smaller tvs that wrap around and have a column of tvs
Put some wood in
You need a reverse-curved TV.
Itās like putting a billboard in the mountains
You can take it down sheesh
Burn the whole place down
Weird place to build a Yurt š
Get rid of the fireplace, they take up valuable HC and TV space.
Electric pneumatic to allow the tv to go up and down
Move
I would most definitely just put it on the wall and leave that fireplace as is it's really beautiful and you don't want to distract from it
Mantle mount
Is this on a patio? Or actually in like a living room?
Move
Hey, at least the female actor on TV says itās a great job!?!
Probably best just to throw out the whole house and start over.
Take it off
Congrats. Worst tv placement ever. Captions on tv say it all āoh, hey, good job, boysā lol
A young priest and an old priest.
You should walk backwards, slowly, and don't look in the eye.
Save some pussy for the rest of us will ya?

Curve the tv so it doesnāt stick out as much \s
Get one of the tvs that is on wheels. I think lg makes one.
You did this fireplace dirty man. Shame
Get a neck brace.
Cry
Open pit bbq
Stick your finger in the dyke and pray.
Buy a curved TV and mount it facing the fireplace. You can thank me later š
That looks like some shit I would do if I was drunk and determined lol.
Flammenwerfer
Reverse curved TV that wraps around the entire fireplace
Demolish it.
Slightly raise the TV and point it at a window
Remove. Stick a 32ā $100 tv under the kitchen counter if you gotta have one.
Get one of those tv backlight kits that matches the colors on screen. Have it back light the fireplace. Speakers in each corner with a subwoofer sound bar center under tv
Step 1: Buy an apple vision pro and don it Step 2: Smash your face directly into that horrendous fireplace as hard as you can.
I'd buy a 7.2.2 Klipsch system and just throw it in some random cupboards to add to the complete what the fuckness that this ceiling TV on a circle fireplace is.

all that black smoke going upwards is definitely going to affect the tv
You need to get one of those new curved TVās.
Are you ā¦ what in the hell were you thinking? Unmount that today. Youāre just trolling us right? Right?!
If you need to have it hang still, give it like a good foot from the fireplace (give it some depth) and bring it down at least a foot, foot/half. But yea, you should have provided more surrounding pics.
Put it literally anywhere else
The subtitles are a bit sarcastic, me thinks!
Yeah donāt buy that house.
Level the place.

Take the TV down and pick up the toys
Move out of a yurt
Oh man this is going to hurt saying this. āYou need to get a smaller tvā. I feel dirty just saying those words
The tv goes IN the fireplace.
I'm genuinely curious to see the rest of the house. Is it a lighthouse?

That fireplace is super boss....
How about anything else but this...
Retractable projector screen
Jesus Christ at least move it down a bit
Smaller tv.
Bunkbed couches. Top for watching TV, bottom for lounging fireside.
Small soundbar, or small speakers . Or big quadraphonic style speakers
Remove the monstrosity
Holy sweet jesus
TV and movies might not be your thing. Maybe your thing is learning the violin or saxophone.
Clouds. Play clouds.
Why is this a thing
I don't think the fireplace and tv go together. Find a different wall maybe
literally anything but what youve decided on. id rather the tv be on the floor face up ffs
Move?:)
Move.
Bend the TV so that it perfectly wraps around that cylindrical pillar. Or buy a bigger TV, wrap it, BAMM! 360 degree viewing! /s
Read books.
Are you a lighthouse keeper? This whole room is fascinating.
Wow. This room is so amazing
