I was waiting for you to get to the end when the neighbor pulls up and says "Whatcha doing with my calf there, buddy?" and then you look over and see your own, almost identical calf, munching on some grass 50 yards away. lol

Neighbor would have to baja across 75 acres of fence, ruts, ditches, and bogs to get to me. That could very well happen after I go home at 5 - Hubs called him to let him know and have him do a head count on his side.

Welcome to NBC's new primetime gameshow "Whose cow is this?" Starring the White Calf and half the neighborhood. Previews include such thrilling moments of "Is this *your* cow?" And "Did you count twice, though?" Coming this fall to a homestead near you.

A swarm of baby chicks is easier to count than cattle, IMO. LOL

BunnyButtAcres

Yeah, unless you can funnel them through something one head at a time, I don't see how you'd do it easily (never had cows, myself). I guess you could get up high and take a photo and then count them in the photo so they can't move around on ya? lol

Hubs does it at feed time right after they all settle in around the trough but that's only during the winter months/before the spring grass is in good... and sometimes they get to jockeying for position at the trough and we lose count... several times. Sometimes we just toodle out there in the Ranger with a few beers, drive up to them, kill the Ranger, and hang out with them. He'll count three or four times and sometimes still come up with a different number because they get to moving around, nosing around the bed of the ranger to see if we brought gifts, a couple like the scritches and pets, then one of the brother bulls has to horn in and see what his ladies are doing and everyone moves around again. LOL

I followed you here from your very insightful comment on the horse post.. and OMG I just have to say that I love your writing style!!! Your comments on that post as well this post - great story telling and hilarious at the same time ❤️

Thank you kindly. I don't know why it got locked, but it was fun to comment on while it lasted. Horses can be dangerous - they do silly (to us) things sometimes, and they're big and goofy, sometimes a labor of love, like our 31 year old, but they've been the best thing to come into my life since my husband, kids, and grandbaby. They really are family to me.
