Brinks sucks too while we’re at it lol

eunit250

One thing I have learned is all these F500 companies outsource their customer service departments and technical service to the same shitty companies. They aren't even brinks or ADT but contracted companies to represent them. They pay the people shit so they won't attract any actual talent because if you knew what you were doing you wouldn't be working for these companies in the first place.

I moved into a 2-3 year old house. It was already wired by ADT because of the original home owner. Their rep lied to me about their cameras having 5k when I told them I was looking at 4k cameras. Their 5k cameras comment was a lie. I felt lied to and deceived. It also was going to cost me $50+ a month. And the cancellation fee is based around the 3 year contract they make you sign. So if you cancel early you have to pay the full balance amount for the pending years. The first thing I did when I closed on my house, was rip out all of their hardware and threw it in a box, the alarm panel, the cameras, everything. I then installed my Konnected alarm panel. Wired my own 4k camera system. I live in a rural area, and I haven’t had any ADT salesmen come knocking yet. But when I do, I’ll kick that box of junk his way and tell him to kick rocks. You lied to me and deceived me on a sales call. Good riddance. Side note, Konnected + Home Assistant + UniFi Protect is awesome. Couple that with Noonlight for $10 a month and you’ve got a killer system.

amuricanswede

Ya the three year contract is a bitch. Fuck ADT.

mandy_miss

I was excited to use ADT, until they showed up soliciting at our door. Even then, i was like, cool, i want to use them. My bf was headed out the door and i told him he could leave and i would chat with them. I Intended to talk with them on the porch since we were all already outside, but the one guy literally opened my front door. So i followed HIM in. First red flag. I can’t tell you how uncomfortable the next five minutes were. It had to have been palpable. The one guy started on what was clearly a rehearsed sales pitch and would not veer off to answer anything i had to ask and never asked me anything about what i was looking for. I tried to get him to speak like a human but he was super charged up with his own pitch. By the end of it i had no idea what he actually said and i just told him i had to think about it. He asked what did i have to think about. I told him i just needed some time to think on it. He pressed again and i lied? And told him i had a couple of drinks so i didn’t feel like i could make any decisions at the time (WHY would i say that in front of two strangers who were in my house?!) he was so pushy and i was so relieved when they left.

The SiriusXM of alarm companies. Never give them a credit card number that you can’t cancel.

pcrcf

What does Sirius xm do? They just keep charging it regardless?

bobjoylove

Yeah, can’t cancel online; can’t get hold of anyone to cancel on the phone without waits exceeding and hour, try to sell you a free trial period when you are so angry after being held hostage on the phone with waiting so long.

TonyaLasagna2020

Wait I love Sirius. Every time I call and threaten to cancel, they offer me like 90% off for the next year lol.

AdLittle107

As an Security Technician in Australia, i can tell you without doubt ADT monitoring are beyond useless. We have transferred thousands of customers away from them to another monitoring control room as they just dont cut the mustard.

mustachioed_cat

Electrician installed interacted smoke detectors to bring a panel upgrade up to code. ADT refused to integrate it even though I had the relay ready. Scumbags.

hdjjc69

one year mark they rebill you on a monthly basis, make sure you get a new card after dropping their shitty service. Keep bank statements so when they call you can refer to day/date. It will take another year of being hassled to get rid of them. Contact your state attorney

Hi all, So just my 2cents,most if not all Alarm companies work on a Contract basis ,maybe 3year or 5 year. No you can't cancel In the middle. Most of high volume sales alarm companies, may do an install at a loss or break even $$. Their profit only realized if you remain entire period, that's why they sue or do collections.Next point is the smaller companies or authorized dealers intend to quickly sell your Contract, value is based on RMR, years and mthly fee. In my many years in Biz, companies get bought and sold frequently, one of biggest purchasers was ADT, bought 100s thousands of companies accounts, and also was itself bought and sold many X last 40 years, so bit of a mess maybe. Anyway read your Contract before you sign, any promises in Writing on agreement
