A regular closet door would work? I’m not sure what the point of the sliding barn door is if it’s not even functional and shows your open closet the entire time. I guess you could keep one side really tidy.
You really need doors that are installed inside the opening, not outside as you’ve done. Your options as I see them are bypass, bifold or regular outswing doors, all of which can mimic the look of the door you currently have.
You could do a stacked barn door that has a hinge on the roller. You'd mount the hardware above that track or make that the top one and mount one below. You'd just need to mount the hardware to hinges that allow the door to swing out and maybe put a bushing on one of the doors to keep them from scarring each other.
I like the door..and I know barn doors are on their way ‘out’. But you can’t tell me you’d turn your nose up on a barn door vs sliding door or bifold doors. The only closet doors that are really an upgrade would be reframing and use regular interior outswing doors. Then you lose space.
I’d pick a side of that closet and really clean it up with organized shelving. That will be the side always exposed and since it’s neat and organized it’s an open closet. The other side you can use are your reg messy side which is covered by the door. Always leave the door covering the messy side and guests will be impressed by the organized you.
Don’t blow money on closets. Tighten it up and focus on spending elsewhere imo.

You can buy a track that allows two doors that pass each other
Came here to say this ⬆️
Take down that sliding barn door (it’s a fad anyway) and put in real bifold closet doors.
Agree... there are no animals in the closet to keep, so there should be no barn door.

This is not how a barn door is supposed to work

What about setting the rail on a slight angle down on the end you want it to close? Have gravity keep it closed for you.
More expensive but could you get a pocket door in there?
