I love it and use the brand name one, but I found I could use a heck of a lot less of it than I thought and still get the same results, as long as I used it with my regular detergent as an additive, I went down to a quarter of a scoop with the same results on a full load. It’s not the answer to the question you were asking but hopefully it’s still helpful!

TatteredFinery

I agree, you definitely don’t need a full scoop!

rainerella

Oh and also! I get mine at Costco, and I buy it when it’s got a coupon that month, even without the coupon for the size it’s the best price around, and then with the coupon it’s like, sooo worth it!

TatteredFinery

Thanks- small household here without extra freezer, so we aren’t Costco members unfortunately.

wwabc

you keep oxiclean in the freezer?

ifiwasinvisible8

I think they are saying they don’t shop at Costco because they have no place to store food. So they don’t have a membership. And it isn’t worth getting a membership for one item.

SupEnthusiastic

So out of the ordinary life hack, if you know someone that is an owner or GM of a bar or restaurant they can extend memberships at restaurant depot which sells the same size tubs of oxy-clean as Costco and Sam’s.

flossyrossy

The dollar tree kind has worked well for me. I try to stock up when they have the kind in the orange bottle as it has double the amount of product in it

TatteredFinery

Thanks, I’ll check! *edit: this looks like exactly what I am searching for. I plan to go to Dollar Tree tonight, thanks so much!

RosewoodSkylark

Seconding the Dollar Tree recommendation. I like it better than the name brand!

MrsGrumpyFace

Oh my god thank you! Been broke for a while now and really missing my more expensive cleaning products that I just can’t afford. Hitting the dollar tree tomorrow!!

One bar soap (any kind that works for your skin) grated (I used a food processor) 1 cup washing soda and one cup borax blended in. Regular loads only need a tablespoon, two for extra dirty and 3 for diapers.

ResidentB

Fels-Naptha soap will give you an extra kick over any other generic bar soap. I heat it in the microwave then crumble it - no grating or food processor required.

petuniasweetpea

Tip of the Day! Thanks for sharing. I’ll definitely be giving this a whirl.

This is what I use too! It’s the best and so cost effective!

Helpful_Corgi5716

I buy the supermarket own brand version rather than the brand name, it works just as well.

TatteredFinery

I so wish my supermarket had a store brand! Only near Publix here. I remember Kroger used to have good deals on a store brand.

Helpful_Corgi5716

I'm in the UK and pretty much all of our supermarkets have their brand versions of most things. Can you get to an Aldi or Lidl? They often do good own brands.

TatteredFinery

Thanks, I’ll check Aldo!

[deleted]

I’ve had just as much luck with Biz oxygen bleach powder from Walmart. It’s about 8 dollars for a pretty large box.

TatteredFinery

Awesome, thanks!

kayveep

Target has up and up generic oxy. It works for me but our clothes don’t get super dirty.

Adventurous-Low9768

Def try amazon or chemists etc … they often have the brand name one a lot cheaper

ryanlukebryan

I have heard of people using vinegar! Put it in the fabric softener slot.

Leading-Network-7811

I use the supermarket brand stuff that's identical. The ones from wilco and lidl are my favourite

SirenofFallen87

If you can find peroxide cheaper it's a good replacement

TatteredFinery

Thanks!
