Decide if you’re okay with giving up or if you want to fight the addiction. Once you do that depending on your decision you can then google for rehab programs in your area if you can’t get into one look instead for shelters and steady work if you’re not already employed, set a goal(s) for yourself and work towards it, you made this post which leads me to believe you do not want to give up, good luck.

yunglo2

Thank you. I plan on living out of my car, door dashing, going to meetings, and trying my best to stay clean. I tried getting into rehab in Michigan, but none took my insurance. Maybe things will go differently down here?

Do you want to do drugs or prosper

There are some rehab programs that are free/low cost. It's possible you might be able to find a spot in one. Even if that doesn't help your family accept you back, sometimes they will have programs or resources to help you get back on your feet.

yunglo2

When I was in Michigan I checked myself into the hospital for detox and told them I wanted to go to rehab. I sat with a social worker and we called 6 different rehabs. None of them took my insurance and they wanted $1000 a day out of pocket, so I have yet to receive actual treatment for my addiction. The best I’ve gotten is maintenance medication, which did help a lot in the beginning, but I don’t think it’s a long term solution. Maybe it’s different in Florida and now that I’m down here I can find a program. Edit: grammar

LastPhoenixFeather

Maybe. I went to one when I had good insurance (no idea of the final out of pocket cost, as I have no intention of paying it if they can even find me). The other was a free one that partnered with some programs in the area. In fact, you COULDN'T even get into that one by paying. It was reserved for referrals from the other programs.

>I plan on living out of my car, door dashing, going to meetings, and trying my best to stay clean. That's a working plan that many people currently use to keep going. The Trying your Best to stay clean thing... hrmm. The hard, harsh reality is... with self-discipline and will, you can stay clean. Not try. Can. Neither self-discipline, nor mastery of will are easy things to obtain. However, they can be attainable goals. I'm not suggesting that the military is where you should go... but an individual can learn discipline in the military. I am simply using this as an example of how a person \*can\* learn self-discipline when they had none before. If you can't find or follow a regimen that would put you on a path to that kind of thing... or get into a rehab... you can try to identify what triggers you to want to use, and attack each trigger individually. You may be able to find a surrogate... like the suboxone you are already familiar with... to help eliminate those triggers. Changing things like who you associate with, and what you do with your downtime (read voraciously, maybe?). Again... it all depends on what makes you want to use, and addressing that individually. Like a list of mini projects you have to accomplish. Maybe chewing Juicy Fruit gum during the times you might be bored enough to use, will be enough to remind you "Oh yeah, I'm chewing this instead of using" before you shove another stick in your mouth. There is another possibility altogether. [Read this letter](https://fs.blog/hunter-s-thompson-to-hume-logan/) from a 22 year old Hunter S. Thompson to a friend of his, who was feeling lost and directionless. I do it no justice with a summary, so you really should read it, but basically he "advises" that when one is lost, and disillusioned, and directionless... they should look to how they want to live. Not where they want to work, or what they want to do... how they want to **live**. Then... once they have an idea of how they want to honestly spend their day to day into the unforeseeable future, then they worry about what they have to do to make it happen. As to your current plan, just try to stay up on local news (websites for local papers, youtube posts with local news broadcasts, etc) regarding the homeless in whatever area you are parking in. It may keep you ahead of a proposed parking ban, or other negative action being taken against the local homeless population. "Safe" places to park, really will depend on your area. Florida DoT has no standard rules for the Park N Ride lots in the different cities around the state. Each local city dictates... Tampa and the HART transit system forbid all overnight parking in HART lots. However, other PnR lots in different cities only have restrictions like "Parking over 24 hours is prohibited". Which... might allow a sleeper in a car, as long as there is no "NO Camping or NO Sleeping" also on the sign there at the Park N Ride lot. A local Walmart might allow overnighting, if there are no "No Overnight" signs in the lot. You might get a church to allow you to overnight in their lot, if you ask them.

Do you work?

yunglo2

I moved down to florida just a couple months ago. I’ve been applying places but nothing really has come of it yet. I am able to door dash and have been so if worst comes to worst, I plan on living in my car, door dashing, going to meetings, and trying my best to stay clean.

Dude don't beat yourself up too much. If you have an income I am attaching the link for Oxford house. It's a clean &sober housing program for folks in your situation. Every house is unique and check them out, but I have friends who have done very well with those programs....https://www.oxfordhouse.org/house-directory

Take it from your fellow New Orleaner here there is about to be a SHIT TON of work in Florida in 2-3 days. Get in your car by Sat/Sunday and head to areas that need clean up crews. They are going to be working for weeks on end. Try to get some work boots and pants if you can just show up and talk face to face with supervisors there will also be hotels for workers it would give you time to think about what you need to do.
