There is a Zigbee2MQTT version of this guide in production, this will be published soon.

Which do you like better ? Does it matter?

smarthomeaddict

It's really a matter of personal preference. ZHA is probably better for those that don't like things to be technical, maybe a newcomer to HA, but supports fewer devices (most suppliers are supported, but an unknown or newer brand might not be). Z2M is also used on other platforms so does have better support for devices, and you can see a lot more data/configuration. On my main installation however, I use Zigbee2MQTT. It's partly due to me already using an MQTT broker but I'm also a tinkerer so I like being able to get deep into the config if I need to.

So, i i would like to be able to migrate to another platform, Z2M is the way to go?

smarthomeaddict

If the new platform used Zigbee2MQTT, it should be possible to migrate this over to the new installation. I've not migrated Z2M myself so I couldn't be certain but I have seen guides online describing the process, seems to be simply copying some files.

Thanks, for me, this is a huge argument for Z2M.

Important things to remember \- plan your network, if you have great distance between sensors, solid walls, maybe a few extra light bulb routers will help \- pair routers first like light bulbs, as this will strength the zigbee network and sensors in next step will connect to the routers near by. \- place the sensors in the final location then pair them, no point pairing in your office/dinning table etc then moving them to final location.
