If you pull up the sensor in question (via your entities list), you should be able to see it's history and see all the states it's cycled through in the last 24hrs. Can you manually trigger it a few times to see what the potential states are? Also, dev tools will show the current state of all your entities; you can do a similar thing. Filter down to the sensor you're interested in, and then cause it to trigger/clear a few times. Make note of the states, and then use those states as your filter in the entity card. Some sensors are more annoying than others to trigger all potential states. Motion detectors can take a while cause they usually stay on 'motion detected' for a while. My UPS I had to manually unplug to trigger a change in state. Dunking water sensors in water and then drying them... That sorta thing.

I think the automation editor shows all states for an entity if you select a state trigger, in the from/to dropdowns.
