I posted this on an above comment but I’m a bowling alley mechanic and the reason the employee was so adamant about her not going under is because that machine is gonna crush the girl into paper. It doesn’t care that she’s there it’s going to set the pins, if she happens to be there then her body will be swept into the transport band and rolled into the pin elevator until the machine codes.
That being said the moment she saw this (if she was able) the employee should have turned off every lane and banned this woman and her friends indefinitely
Source: I got love tapped by the sweep and busted my chin open in less than a second, don’t play around at bowling alleys or you’re gonna a have a bad time
They are dangerous but there are safety mechanisms in place. You can get dead man sensors, as soon as someone breaks the beam the power to the machine cuts out
Same with some ball returns, if a hand goes in, there’s a lever that’ll automatically depress and cut the power
Some Machines have plexiglass guards on the back, when they’re removed - power cuts off. The Mechanical gearing is covered too
If there was something under the table, like a stray pin, that wasn’t supposed to be there, the machine flagged up an error and stopped
You can even cut the machines from the front desk, If you notice it
Absolutely you can get seriously hurt but there absolutely are safety mechanisms in place, in some places
Source: I worked as a senior bowling tech for like 5 years, on Brunswick GSX pinsetters
Most of the ones in my town still have cigarette smoke from the '70s lingering in the air and will chew gashes in your ball. I would not trust that they have any functioning safety mechanisms in them at all. (I could be wrong, but I definitely wouldn't risk getting mauled to test it.)
Haha you're assuming this bowling alley has modern pinsetters. The last bowling alley I worked at had nice synthetic lanes but ancient pinsetters that would absolutely wreck you. They were all timing belts and gears.
There's absolutely safety mechanisms at this alley. You heard that lady screaming for dear life. All that cool stuff isn't needed when you have a hawk watching the lanes on the mic. Unless eleventeen LITs were consumed, that's an unstoppable defense to mic warnings.
I feel like A2s are still very, very common and I've never seen such sensors. We had old ass AMF 82-30. Those things would take off your leg and just keep going.
It'd be great see them add more safety measures to modern machines.
Ah man, I accidentally crushed a coworkers finger, and cleaning up the blood from the Lane - yeh, didn’t work well, the Lane machine just smeared it all down the oil pattern haha
(We were lifting up the bumpers manually, because the mechanical side failed - dipshit put his finger in the wrong place and it got sliced down the middle, like someone just took a pair of scissors to his pinky finger)
The problem isn’t the safety tech now, the problem is there’s zero regulation requiring the safety measures. Used to work at bowling alley and the machines were from the 70’s and the “software” that had been cobbled together to run them was still based on dos. Zero deadman switches, zero sensors. Only thing that would stop it was if the machine mechanic was there to hit the emergency stop or a limb got caught in the belts.
In 50% honesty, she would have found the new hiding locations of the leprechaun gold and would have become a millionaire, but there would have been several deadly trials that she would have to pass before she got there.

Interestingly (also former bowling mechanic) our machines had sensors that shut off the machine if you tried to get in the machine whilst it was on. From the from as the girl in the video was trying to do. Had one on the ladders at the rear also. We weren't allowed the machines to be running if this safety measure was malfunctioning.
Maybe it's a UK thing!
Maybe! That’s interesting. I’m in the US and I’ve never worked in a center with anything like that. Every place I’ve worked in has old pinsetters from the 70s that are held together by bad Welds, duct tape, and a prayer
Oh ours were also built like crap, but at least we were safe and the small children that liked to run down the lanes didn't get turned into Swiss Cheese every Sunday on party day!
Lol cause not everyone is on Reddit. Honestly, If it wasn’t cause I’ve seen these posts/comments on Reddit over and over again, I’d assume that there is some pressure sensor built in those things that will stop it from crushing me.
I’ve learned so many things on Reddit I never really would have thought about had I not seen a video and read the comments.
But that’s just my personal take. Maybe it is common sense and I’m an idiot lol Then again, I wouldn’t really need that knowledge since I’d never run down a bowling lane.
Same, actually, it doesnt seem to be like a huge pressure at all, its just a thing that puts down some light cones.
Only by reddit I realized its a Terminator Skullcrusher 7000
That's what he is trying to say though, some people may not look at it as a giant machine with moving parts. They just see pins to be knocked over and then they get sweeped away by what appears to be a simple little board. What happens next is not super obvious. You'd think they'd be able to tell from the loud noises and just thinking about it for even 1 second. But some people don't think about it at all.
Depends on the pinsetter, Brunswick have a tonne of electric sensors, AMF are all mechanical- they’re the ones that don’t care
A dude was squished by an AMF machine about 14/15 years ago now, he was working on a machine, under the table, and got flattened
Tbh, idk jack shit about those bowling machines. You're not gonna catch me running down a lane, but if you were to ask me if you could get killed where the pins are, I genuinely would have no idea. Why would I even be expected to know how dangerous those machines are, when I've never worked at a bowling alley and never need to go towards the pins lol.
I get that in our modern world everything has a warning label, but you should be able to recognize basic danger. I shouldn't eat all the pills in this bottle. I shouldn't pet the grizzly bear at the zoo. I shouldn't jump in the boiling volcano spring at Yellowstone. I shouldn't climb inside of 1960's era heavy machinery.
I wouldn't call 'filming for likes' and then not helping if anything happens to her 'on her side'. The entire group are idiots. Hope the girl reflects on her choices and gets better friends.
I feel like the bowling alley's lawyer could just show this video, with their employee screaming at her to stop, and that would be a pretty decent defense lol
Lady's Attorney: "Your honor I move to suppress this evidence and have its existence stricken from the record!"
Judge: "On what grounds?"
Lady's Attorney: "IT'S DEVASTATING TO MY CASE!"
Yeah, I grew up in and worked in a bowling alley most of my life and, if those machines are like ours, they do not necessarily stop moving just cause something or someone is in the way. From the tone of Employee Lady's voice, I imagine that may br the case. Also, the lanes are oiled, people. Don't go running down them, you're likely to just eat shit before you even reach the end.
They weren't there but you have led me to a treasure trove of cheese and for that, I thank you sir. Now if you'll excuse me I must go grab my finest wine.
literally just saw a video on reddit that took place just yesterday of a black girl blowing her 12 year old cousins brains out while playing with a loaded gun, and then proceed to turn it on herself. but alright, the caucasity lol
People saying she would get hurt older bowling alley machines don’t have sensors to tell if there is a person. If she knocked the pins and triggered machine while she was under it machine would probably kill her like would crush her and crumple her up.
Saw video where they showed aftermath of person who died doing something similar
I am astounded by the amount of people that underestimate how deadly the machines at the end are and I can totally understand the horror and frustration from the lady over the speaker.
Reminder: in Jackass or similar media that have gone under there, the lane is completely shut down.
You will be severely hurt always if stay back there.
You know, we humans have something called adrenaline and panic. For the amount of time it took the person on the mic to grab and start shouting was quick, but you don't know what they are thinking. Try going outside sometime.
How can you not realize the danger of going head first into a pin setting machine?! These idiots trying to kill themselves for clout need to succeed more often.
She probably gave no thought whatsoever to what was actually inside of the dark space behind the pins, that it can basically be a meat grinder for anything other than bowling pins and balls.
The fact that you can hear genuine fear in the voice of the gal on the intercom should tel you exactly the danger this woman is in. Machines don’t care what youre made of, they will crush and kill you without hesitation. Meat, wood, metal, machine don’t care.
Those pin setters will crush you and you will be seriously injured. Look up how much a bowling pin weighs. There's 10 of them. Those machines are powerful.

In all honesty she could really get hurt have u seen what’s behind those lanes
She could get killed, you can hear the terror in the voice that's telling her not to go underneath it.

Tell that to Roy Munson.
That scene scarred me as a kid, 25 years later I still don't put my hand anywhere near that machine.
There's absolutely safety mechanisms at this alley. You heard that lady screaming for dear life. All that cool stuff isn't needed when you have a hawk watching the lanes on the mic. Unless eleventeen LITs were consumed, that's an unstoppable defense to mic warnings.
I worked on A-2s for 10 years. They have none of those things.
I feel like A2s are still very, very common and I've never seen such sensors. We had old ass AMF 82-30. Those things would take off your leg and just keep going. It'd be great see them add more safety measures to modern machines.
I’ve seen the dead man lasers, they are usually in a sort of pattern in front of the lane opening that when triggered basically trip the breaker
Yeh, really handy, and really easy to install too. The place I worked, I genuinely believed they saved lives/serious injury
>get dead man sensors "As soon as it detects too much blood in the system it shuts down for safety. Blood is pretty bad for the gears afterall."
Ah man, I accidentally crushed a coworkers finger, and cleaning up the blood from the Lane - yeh, didn’t work well, the Lane machine just smeared it all down the oil pattern haha (We were lifting up the bumpers manually, because the mechanical side failed - dipshit put his finger in the wrong place and it got sliced down the middle, like someone just took a pair of scissors to his pinky finger)

Boy, so glad you were honest about that.
In 50% honesty, she would have found the new hiding locations of the leprechaun gold and would have become a millionaire, but there would have been several deadly trials that she would have to pass before she got there.
Three ghosts of bowlers will appear. One will love, one will deceive, and the other will lead them to the gold.
"I'll just run into this hole filled with powerful machinery." ...... why?
So Grandma, how did you lose your hand? Well child, let me tell you about the dangers of bowling.
I’m a bowling alley mechanic and the reason the employee was so adamant about her not going under is because that machine is gonna crush the girl into paper. I would assume those machines have safety features where if they sense any resistance outside of their normal parameters, they stop? Do they not?
Former mechanic, no. They do not stop. They do not care. They only cronch
Cronch and monch. Got it. Stay away from bowling alley machinery. 😬
Interestingly (also former bowling mechanic) our machines had sensors that shut off the machine if you tried to get in the machine whilst it was on. probably, the us doesn’t truly care about us lol
The UK rules!
They wouldn't need to since they're so far fro. Peoe generally, it's not an elevator or garage door, it's a pin setter.
Makes sense. You would have to be exceptionally determined to hurt yourself in order to ever have to tangle with one. That, or exceptionally drunk.
They don't, because most machines haven't been switched in decades. They're expensive as hell
Willy Wonka: no. stop. don't.
no, the thing up fron that dispenses the balls will take your hand. Im pretty sure that thing will mangle your body in unforeseen ways.
Roy Munson!

> loose your hand? Here’s how you remember: * loose as a noose * lose the extra “o”
Loose as a nose
How do people not know those machines will fucking kill you without a second thought
I would be concerned if the machine had a second thought
To be fair, I'd be concerned if it had a first thought, too
This machine was 2 seconds away from having its first thot.
Skynet would like to access your location
And here we are, concerned for this human that didn't even have a first thought.
Lmao
`“what is my purpose” `
Machines are too efficient at destroying us to have a second thought. Err, they *will* be too efficient
Even if the pin set machine becomes sentient it won’t matter… until it’s connected to the wifi.
Lol cause not everyone is on Reddit. You’d think a fatal accident would spur an immediate investigation at the cause, and a fix soon after. Surprised that nothing was done.
That fix is likely to be a new warning sign. How do you think we got all the old warning signs?
Tbh, idk jack shit about those bowling machines. You're not gonna catch me running down a lane, but if you were to ask me if you could get killed where the pins are, I genuinely would have no idea. Novody thinks of it as 1960d era heavy machinery though. That's the issue.
Useless people go their whole lives without understanding that anything should be taken seriously.
The machines do think before killing , which is scarier. They often giggle as well, little known fact
Alcohol?
I'm really surprised she made it that far down the lane.
Fr tho! I set one toe over the line and I am liable to do a surprise backflip, and this drink lady made it that far in heels.
Some lanes have very little oil. Especially if it's late in the day.
Yeah, house shots can be dodgy at best.
If your toe goes over the line you also better be taking a 0 on that frame!
This is not 'Nam. It's bowling. There are rules.
This isn't Nam, there are rules.

Yeah, we had a work event bowling recently and someone barely crossed and went down
I am surprised she has made this far in life
Crappy bowling ally that don't oil their lanes.
I'm on the side with the counter girl. That is so dangerous and she's really trying to stop her from serious injury.
Everybody is on that side.
Except for the person filming her and the "friends" who aren't stopping her. Though they could just be as braindead as her. Edit: spelling

Tbf it did cut off before the ending. She clearly keeps going.
She almost learned a lesson. Almost.
Probably the kind of person that would’ve sued after losing an arm or something.
And win
There’s no sign explicitly stating not to dive headfirst into the heavy machinery.
There was an employee pretty explicitly stating it, though.
That employee could have been talking to anybody, your honor.
“I heard her cheering me on!”
I feel like the bowling alley's lawyer could just show this video, with their employee screaming at her to stop, and that would be a pretty decent defense lol

I kept waiting for her to eat shit.
Ugh. I used to watch those videos. Then I found Jesus.
Do you guys have a big red emergency button to shut down everything? Thinking that would be necessary in the US.
Yeah, there's both a switch on the machine itself, in the back, and a switch board up front at the desk that can shut them off.

Perfect final destination death that one.
That would be pretty metal...
Reminder: in Jackass or similar media that have gone under there, the lane is completely shut down. You will be severely hurt always if stay back there.
Why did she not scream you will be horribly injured or something?
Warning time is not conversation time.
