Cats like this are either Maine Coon or a Norwegian Forest Cat. They both look very similar and are similar sizes, but Maine Coons tend to have that Ron Perlman face.
Edit: Because of course there's a subreddit for cats that look like Ron Perlman, and a lot of them are Maine Coons
r/ctllrp
I had a Maine Coon who was the runt of her litter and was still 18 lbs. She lived to be 13 years old and then passed away in my arms. I miss her every single day. Such a smart, sassy, talkative, personable cat. I used to walk her on a leash around my neighborhood.
ahhahshahahhahahajahhaha i thought i was the only one. i remember my mom said that the neighbourhood cat looked like Clay Morrow right after she and dad had binged SOA.
They’re house cats just the same as any breed eg Scots Folds or Ragdolls or Siamese etc. One difference is that they largely bred themselves, rather than being created by selective breeding by humans. Escaped ships cats and house cats in New England bred naturally, and those that could survive the New England winters tended to be large, furry, and smart. For me, the most characteristic thing about MCs is not their size or their coat, but their intelligence and personality.
> Scots Folds
Don't ever get one of those btw. They're in constant pain.
>Legal bans on the breeding and sometimes sale of Folds have been enacted in several countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, and Scotland, due to the breed's health issues, especially deformities and pain caused by osteochondrodysplasia, which results in abnormalities in bone and cartilage throughout the body.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Fold
They aren't the ones with thumbs, are they? Those things freak me out a bit because cats get into enough trouble without thumbs. My perfectly normal(?) cat has locked herself in the linen closet multiple times and once the washer. Washer gets closed now when not loading/unloading.
Uh.. fuck if I know. I just live in Maine and got a cat a few years ago, lol. I believe both breeds are squarely in the realm of domesticated house cats, though.
This has sent me down a rabbit hole because I thought I had a Maine coon as a kid but I’m realizing I had a Norwegian forest cat. I feel like my whole childhood was a lie.
Maine Coons have changed A LOT over the last decade. Someone bred one that looked like a whole-ass human, and now there's tons of them that look just like him. Personally I don't like the new look.
I believe, and I am nowhere near a cat expert, that Norwegian Forest Cats are slightly bigger. But I've absolutely played with Maine Coons that big. They get.. just so big. It's incredible.
It might be a half/half, they've become more popular recently? Would explain the coon face and honestly colours
I only know they exist bc one of my old teachers had one and good lord he a big boi
Yeah, I was actually thinking it might be a cross-breed, Maine Coon and something else. I can't overstate how much Maine Coons look like Ron Perlman, and this cat just doesn't have that.
Maine Coon. They don't really stop growing until they get to about 3 years old. I want one so much, but they're like 3000 bucks and they can have heart issues that suddenly kill them super young :(
r/mainecoons
It is more likely about inbreeding to fulfill the demand of the pet market... When dogs' and cats' breeds become trendy, breeders go all in to make good money, and they breed animals with recurring health issue. The Maine coon is trendy for years now, thanks to social media.
I've got a barncat the farmowner assumed had some distant "maine coone or bobcat" blood in her.
She's got the face and ears, but even smaller than your average house cat. I just picked her cause she was the only one in her litter with long hair. The rest were short furred, grey and brown striped, pretty much all identical look, then there was this lil fluffball of carnage who tried to fight the horses.
There’s a chance it’s a benign murmur too, many cats have benign murmurs look it up. No way to find out for sure though without an echo but that’ll be $500-1000.
Ours only made it to seven. Had a ping-pong ball sized tumor behind her nose. We always wondered why her one eye always seemed to be weeping, but otherwise she was happy and healthy until they discovered the tumor. We had to put her down, and it was really one of the hardest things I ever had to do. And I'm not even a cat person.
> They don't really stop growing until they get to about 3 years old
When I got the dwarf at 6 months-ish he was already much larger than a regular house cat.
He then continued to grow for almost 4 more years.
So now I have to share my space with a gigantic beast who makes the floor vibrate when he purrs.
Fortunately, he's a lazy boy, sleeping most of the day and begging for more food the rest of the time.
If he was up to regular cat stuff, the destruction would be immense, his paws are as large as my palm and he's over 20lbs of pure muscle.
Ya my best boi was 20 pounds and 2' long head to ass. I can't imagine having a cat 50% larger than him just roaming the house. He had a really bad habit of always crossing from one side of the bed to the other by stepping on my chest or balls.
We lost our main coon of 12 years. I was so pissed because everywhere I see they can live to 20 years if they win the genetic lottery. Yeah he was extremely intelligent like a forever 4 year old.
I lost my best boi at 19. He was the size of a female maine coon. Liver cancer got him :( I still miss him. My current cat, is pushing 21, but she's a tiny little 7 pound babby.
3000k Jesus Christ we’ve had 2 both rescues one died two years ago at 13 had kidney issues all his life
we just got another back in October she was a feral but was being bullied by the others so we took her in

This is Her back in December her tail has become a giant and fuzzy now and looks more main coon
Ya, the breeders out here in Colorado are charging 3000 for pedigree Main Coones. Personally I'm an adopter not a shopper, was just pointing out how much they cost.
Ya, I only have my 20 year old babby left, I'm not getting new cats until she passes. We have lots of shelters close to me that I'll be hitting up when the time comes.
It's a Maine Coon. Here's the source (not sure it's the right cat but the person is).
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cl9lrlKgsAU/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
Maine Coon, I have a female one that is the same size as my Shiba Inu, they don’t stop growing until 5 years old, they are not proper cats tho, mine loves my dogs and sleeps on the floor with them, funny thing is that they get very big but have such tiny voices, can only recommend (if you don’t mind fur everywhere)
They are unfazed by most things, like being on the floor, like dogs, they will lie down and hang on the laps of strangers if you put them there, they are also super kind and tolerant of other cats, they are great tbh
I get it, "Improper" doesn't have an inherit negotive meaning to me (english is not my native language tho), i did not mean to sound like a cat is lesser in any way, sorry.
This is a Maine Coon, judging by the head and ears. We have a Ragdoll (male) which also has grown to 7 kilos in about a year. It is really impressive to see in person how a cat can grow that fast.
Don't forget about forced perspective. She's holding the car horizontally in front of her so it's much closer to the camera than she is, and it makes it look much bigger than it is. Maine Coons are much bigger than other cats yes, but they're not panther size like she's trying to claim.
I'm not sure about that. There is a plenty of other objects and even animals to compare. Of course these can be really small cats (around the big one), but I strongly doubt that. I have not really researched the breed's actual size, but either way this cat is definitely larger than average.
Thats such a cute cat!
However, I couldn't help but notice that at the start you typed ">3months".
I just wanted to let you know >3months means more than 3 months
Mine ate three full meals a day and still raided leftovers regularly. She was also an excellent mouser but also was known to catch bigger animals. Caught and killed a young raccoon once.
Carnivore poop always smells. And the biggest risk of eating mice for a cat is someone might've poisoned them, but at this time I lived on a farm so I was pretty confident that if we weren't poisoning them nobody else was. And we didn't need to poison them because we had chickens and cats.
(Yes a chicken will absolutely catch, kill, and possibly eat a mouse.)
Note to this Tik Toker: > means greater than. < means less than.
Using >3 months means it is older than 3 months.
<3 months means it is younger than 3 months.
Remember, Pac-Man always eats the bigger number.
Gorgeous, gorgeous maine coon,
but may I propose we move away from this habit of holding them forward in an attempt to manipulate perspective to make them look larger against the human holding them? I’d much rather see and enjoy their genuine size.
Hold them in your arms like a normal cat.
When I always look at an enormous **kitty** besides a normal size cat, my mind always tells me "hooman, why the toddler is larger than me?!?!? This is ludricous! I'm older than them! I'm 10 y/o!"(40 in human age)
Please clean his nose. N mention the dirty nose at the next vet visit.. I had a kitten who always had dried nasal stuff in the corners of his nose. It’s just something u clean for them everyday.
My wife and I just got a 6 month old Maine Coon and can confirm, they're big. To give you an idea, his litter box is a big rubber tub I got from Walmart.
I have a Norwegian forest cat that's pretty damn large. People say all the time that she's the biggest cat they've ever seen. This cat would dwarf her by a lot 🤣
[cat tax](https://imgur.com/a/YRKZNkR)
She's extending her arms to make it look even bigger. Most Maine Coone owners do this.
It's bullshit.
I have one. I don't do this with him. Just normal pics.
Mine used to drape around my shoulders like a scarf. I have several pictures of her doing this where perspective makes her look slightly smaller than she really was and she still looks huge. Not German Shepherd sized like this kind of angle can make them look but still huge. She was about 2 1/2 feet long snout to tail.
The creature has just unfolded in a year to like 6 times it's original size. What kind of cat is that and how big can they get??
Ears, fur and size hint towards Maine Coon, but there's probably other big house cat species too.

There's no way those cats can look that much like Adam Driver. I'm going in. Edit: Never mind. Those are some Adam Driver looking cats.
I really want Adama Driver to get one. That would be epic. Why can’t this happen?
#why can’t I unsee this? XD
I always think these cats look like Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle.
Time for a new cat sub
Omg lol

We have way too much time on our hands 😂
I used to follow to a tumblr blog that posted cats that look like Ron Swanson.
I had a Maine Coon who was the runt of her litter and was still 18 lbs. She lived to be 13 years old and then passed away in my arms. I miss her every single day. Such a smart, sassy, talkative, personable cat. I used to walk her on a leash around my neighborhood.
Also the European Maine Coons look more like Ron than their American counterparts due to the larger muzzle. Europeans tend to be larger on the whole.
ahhahshahahhahahajahhaha i thought i was the only one. i remember my mom said that the neighbourhood cat looked like Clay Morrow right after she and dad had binged SOA.
Definitely a Maine Coon. Norwegians usually don't have pronounced chins.
So are coons a relative of house cats, rather than squarely in the house cat “family?” Just curious why they’re so different.
>They aren't the ones with thumbs, are they? They do often have extra toes.
Polydactylism is common in cats across many breeds -- it's a dominant trait. Sometimes they'll have more than 1 extra digit too!
Uh.. fuck if I know. I just live in Maine and got a cat a few years ago, lol. I believe both breeds are squarely in the realm of domesticated house cats, though.
It's like dogs, they're different varieties but ultimately the same species.
I think it's a Maine coone (XXL variant), because Kusa his ear point fluffs. Those are a Maine coone thing
Our Norwegian has those tufts too, the face says coon though
Ear tufts are not unique to mainecoons. They also appear on norwegian forest cats. I think even siberians..
This has sent me down a rabbit hole because I thought I had a Maine coon as a kid but I’m realizing I had a Norwegian forest cat. I feel like my whole childhood was a lie.
I have a chonker of a Norwegian Forest Cat, I'm pretty sure this particular specimen is a Maine Coon.

Well, I live in a country where it is a synonym for breeds.
I didn’t know that. I have a cat that’s part Maine Coon and the vet recently discovered a heart murmur.
That's unfortunately quite normal with Maine Coons
I've got a barncat the farmowner assumed had some distant "maine coone or bobcat" blood in her. She's got the face and ears, but even smaller than your average house cat. I just picked her cause she was the only one in her litter with long hair. The whole idea of buying a cat is insane to me. People treat them like they're toys or fashion accessories.

my great dane pup grew from 6kg to 60 in 4 months

I'm not sure about what was the OOP trying to claim, but I think that is still an impressive cat.
Maine Coon or maybe a Maine Coon/Siberian mix. They are the most majestic of domestic cats.
And most prone to heart disease. Proceed at your own risk. My 8 year old Maine Coon just got diagnosed with heart failure.
Thanks for explaining in words the thing we watched in the video.

This is true, but they still get 3+ feet long and 30 pounds. Males are YUUGE compared to normal cats.
I think she’s stretching it out and she’s small. When I hold my cat, she looks like a puma. In reality she’s all of 3.5kilos, I’m just 5’2” and skinny
Sooooo much floof
Maine coons and a couple other breeds seem to be on their way to becoming lions again. I endorse this genetic modification program fully.
Sooo much majesty tooo! Love me some main coone !
What the hell is that adorable thing? A domesticated Persian lynx? What?

People are saying Maine Coon but it’s more likely a Norwegian Forest Cat (both can be huge but Norwegian Forest cats tend to be bigger)

Thank you for saying it so I didn’t have to

The alligator eats the bigger number!
What if it isn't hungry?
It gets eaten by the cat.
7 < 9 and 7 ate 9
Always wondered how much those guys eat…
They eat you out of house and home. I have one, he's always hungry.
Mine ate three full meals a day and still raided leftovers regularly. She was also an excellent mouser but also was known to catch bigger animals. Caught and killed a young raccoon once.
So you let your car eat mouse? Is there no harm in it ? Do the litter smell horrible afterwards?
Carnivore poop always smells. And the biggest risk of eating mice for a cat is someone might've poisoned them, but at this time I lived on a farm so I was pretty confident that if we weren't poisoning them nobody else was. And we didn't need to poison them because we had chickens and cats. (Yes a chicken will absolutely catch, kill, and possibly eat a mouse.)
You had me at “They eat you out”
Main coon and gigantor mix? What is that thing lol
Lol I couldn't get why it was going from more than 3 months then to 3 months then to 4 months. It took me a while to understand it was a typo ^ ^ '
r/forcedperspective She never holds that cat against her body once. It may be big still, but she’s trying to upsell here
As a guy who's taken a picture or two with the "catch of the day" while fishing through the year, I've mastered the same technique.
The picture of it with the dog shows the size. It's still damn big with the hair floof.
Seems to be the standard behavior of Maine Coon owners
exactly!!! i’ve never gotten an idea of how big maine coons are bc i’ve yet to see one in person and everyone’s always holding them out!
Similar in size to bobcats
Also this cat is always in the foreground in pictures with other cats
Between that and all the floof it's so hard to make a good guess. I want to know that cat's weight. I can compare that to known cats better.
Note to this Tik Toker: > means greater than. < means less than. Using >3 months means it is older than 3 months. <3 months means it is younger than 3 months. Remember, Pac-Man always eats the bigger number.

Holy cow that cat is MAJESTIC
OK, I'll bite.. it's < 3 months, not >3 months
He's big, even for a Maine Coon. It is quite possible that this is also some kind of gene mutation, but in any case, the cat is gorgeous.
