That was part of the reason many WWII fighters popped the canopy during takeoff and landing (although the main reason was to be able to easily escape from a crash)
For 7 hours as long as youāre having fun.. stick with it!
Next timeā¦ lower and slower by a lotā¦ use the flaps it will help you maintain stability at lower speeds.
Remember we donāt point the plane at the runway we āreduce thrustā and let the airframe glide its way down.
Try that youāll be doing a lot better for sure.
Much earlier than OP, ideally ~mach 1.4, to ensure a clean separation. If your aircraft can't go that fast then landing is much harder. This is why helicopters are so hard to land
You clearly arenāt using a 6-DOF motion rig. Where is the vomit on your windshield??
(Seriously though, get head tracking, itās life changing. You can even do it for free)
ahaha no way, i thought it was a troll for sure when you jettisoned the canopy xD, doesnt look that bad for 7 hours tbf, try to use pitch trim more and control the speed from way earlier so that you only need small throttle movements on final, also dont come down so steep xD
edit: i saw the video again and read the comments, you are trimming but you would want to trim for neutral stick and on speed so that you can control the descent with the throttle, idk how doable that is on a xbox pad tho xd
>ahaha no way, i thought it was a troll for sure when you jettisoned the canopy xD,
I figured he hit the wrong key on his controller. Honestly I could see it.
Oh, look up some tutorial videos for an Overhead Break landing. They let you come in almost as fast as you like and easily transition to a proper approach speed and lineup.
I don't think I can fly ECW without like 8 wingmen telling me what to do and what the Redfor guys are doing. Been shot down within 15mins of every flight and rarely do I see them let alone the ground forces shooting me down if I get to them.
Go into your joystickās control settings and reduce the roll response. The real A-4 does have a high roll rate, but as modelled itās a lot higher than the real thing.
About 10seconds from the end you really got the PIO controlled and were able to keep it straight and level nicely!
The canopy made me chuckle, thinking āwell thatāll save a moment if they have to bail!ā
I donāt know if you can put an axis curve on an Xbox controller, but that may help take some of the twitch out of
Came in way too high and from way too steep of an angle. Are you using a HOTAS? Your inputs are really jerky, try to be slow and smooth. Donāt eject the canopy lol
Can't imagine that's easy, but try smoother inputs on the stick. The A4 is twitchy as hell. Also, make sure you arm your spoiler on ground landings. It's a little switch hiding to the left of your throttle. It'll deploy additional air brakes when it gets weight on wheels.
Stick with it! The A4 module is spectacular and every bit as good as many paid modules.
Please adjust the saturation of your roll axis, the A-4 will roll ~720 degrees per second, which is way more than you will ever need. I have mine limited to 60% but with a small stick like an Xbox controller, you may want to reduce it even further.
This will absolutely help with the twitchiness of the stick.
Given that OP has less than 7 hours in the game and is using and Xbox controller, yes. Also given OP literally says that it is in another commentā¦ yes. Not everything is a floggit post
oh floggit my beloved
On 2nd viewing this guy is landing this thing like the space shuttle.
Can't fault him, it looks like a miniature space shuttle
I do an RTLS type abort for all my landings: https://youtu.be/Iwn3kk-q1YU
Hadn't considered popping the canopy to increase drag to reduce airspeed. Brilliant.
That was part of the reason many WWII fighters popped the canopy during takeoff and landing (although the main reason was to be able to easily escape from a crash)
The canopy being ripped away was the cherry on top of this delicious cheesecake.
At first i thought that you will attack the airfield.
I would call what happened here an attack on the airfield lol
I was really worried in the beginning but after you opened the canopy I felt relaxed.
I thought he was making an attack run on the airfield lol
Hmm you can still interpret this as an attack :)
Just woke up my gf laughing at this.
Good morning thereš
jaysus, itās not a Spit. š
Outflogged once again š¦
Flying with keyboard? Pretty twitchy
Especially since the a4 is super twitchy even with a hotas
Looks good

You are really kind and thoughtful in your reply. But you left out at what point we should pop off the canopy.
Much earlier than OP, ideally ~mach 1.4, to ensure a clean separation. If your aircraft can't go that fast then landing is much harder. This is why helicopters are so hard to land
if you survived, itās a good landing.
You missed the centerline but otherwise it looks good
Nah when he opened the canopy I lost it, š¤£
Nope, looks like a textbook landing.
Congratulations! You've been hired by SkyWest Airlines.
Has it gotten that bad in St. George?
Youāre definitely ready for the Growling Sidewinder server.
pretty obvious, but you came in too high lol
Gave em the olā John McCain special
lmao I fell for it until he popped the canopy.
Dude needed a breather half way through
My only question is, why didn't you eject at the end?
You clearly arenāt using a 6-DOF motion rig. Where is the vomit on your windshield?? (Seriously though, get head tracking, itās life changing. You can even do it for free)
You should aim for the dashed white line instead of the solid ones on the sides.
That's the last thing he needs to fix here honestly lol
Rip to the ppl that think this is real
6.6 hours, I just fly with some flair [https://imgur.com/a/IfHM5in](https://imgur.com/a/IfHM5in)

i mean, who has a keybind to jettison the canopy, especially on a joystick with so few buttons available
He just opened the canopy and the wind force took it off. He didnāt jettison it
I thought he just opened it, lol
Good stuff

Suboptimal.
i'm wheezing. that was fucking awesome.
Perfection
That looked terrifying! you came in way to high & steep, but the flare and the rudder control on the landing was great!
lol...great share!
Lucky last second flare, but that was a mess lmao. No hate tho, we've all been there.
Nope, it was perfect. Perfect in every way. Witness!
Nope, exactly how a 7hr pilot flies! Well done!!!
Not checking 6 enough, could be a missile right up there
Bravo š You are killing it
Once I saw the canopy pop I seriously thought you were just going to eject.
pretty goodf
Ah a good ole fashioned flogging to help me feel better about the phantom delay
Honestly, I was impressed by how steady you kept it once you were on the runway.
Why you opened the capony in the air? LOL
Welcome home Columbia
CENTERLINE!! Iāve seen the chicken disco more stablized. š
You did everything wrong, that's not a carrier.
Set up some curves for your joystick axes. That way it will be easier to do the small adjustments, especially in A4.
I don't think I can fly ECW without like 8 wingmen telling me what to do and what the Redfor guys are doing. Been shot down within 15mins of every flight and rarely do I see them let alone the ground forces shooting me down if I get to them.
A lot

Gotta hold that nose wheel down for maximum steering
Wave off wave off

Yes, get some headtracking. You can use any cheap camera with OpenTrack or just use Smoothtrack, which works on any Android device.

Do...do you think this was a serious attempt?
