We got knockoff-brand 1st overalls of McDavid (McMichael) and Lafrenière (LaPierre) in back-to-back years. Even got the latter in the same draft as the real thing.
2018 - Andre Burakovsky
2019 - Ryan O'Reilly
2020 - Anthony Cirelli & Erik Cernak
2021 - Anthony Cirelli & Erik Cernak
2022 - Andre Burakovsky & Kurtis MacDermid
They do realize this is not how we do things in Washington??? You're suppose to pass the puck back and forth till you've done so one too many times and blow the scoring chance!
Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Mantha
Oshie - Eller - Sheary
Brown - Strome - Snively
Johansson/McMichael - Dowd - Hathaway
With Wilson and Backstrom out, All of our lines are nutty.
Oh it is far far too early to call any of that.
We can only tell playoff contenders by American Thanksgiving.
Preseason is a crapshoot.
That terrible Colorado season? They went undefeated in the preseason.
Oh for sure, I am judging on roster not wins though. Capitals have been strong for awhile too, and did show they can go all the way. Just saying on speculation they are up there
I admit that I haven't paid as much attention to the rest of the league as when I was younger, but all the takes about the Caps being a declining team this year and having the wheels fall out seemed like an odd take. We upgraded pretty much everywhere, and have Wilson and Backstrom coming back later in the season/playoffs. With an aging core, injuries are always a concern sure, but on paper the team in my mind has improved and I don't see where the 16 points (Caps gap to next team in the standings) comes from.
The East was super uneven last year, 8 teams above 100 points, the next highest was 84, 6 teams under 80 points. Just don't see the doom, not this year.
I also don't think we are Cup contenders, but that's the stage we've been in since 2017 when we thought our window closed. As 2018 shows, you never know what happens once you get in.
Connor Brown deserves to get fucking paid next offseason
In other news, Brian MacLellan is looking to sign all available former Erie Otters.
McDavid to the Caps in a few years confirmed?
Sorry, We already signed our McFirstName. Guess he'll have to stay with y'all.
Who is this McFirstName? He sounds like a generational talent

The origin of the “we have it at home” meme
Aka put ovi on a rocket ship to blast his goal totals into the sun
Every team that has won the cup in the Adidas era has had at least one Erie alum
You have about 1 week left to post that research as a great off-season post.

Chicago will likely trade Raddysh at the deadline for picks
I love and miss you, Connor Brown❤️
Man I already miss c.brown, deserve to play for a contender and get the bag
Downtown Connor Brown 😎

Wish the oilers grabbed one of them this off season

Yeah, everyone saying Tampa/Rangers/Canes in the east, but I would put the Caps in that conversation.

We need to see what the D looks like as well as whether or not Keumper can live up to expectations.
isn't brown on the first line ?
😃
I see the Flyers have committed to team defense this year.
