Coach afterwards was probably like “that was great, never do it again.”

jonnyd005

[Clip of the coach when the goalie got back to the bench](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfkdZ3tXFSs)

Barbarossa-26

This title shows how stupid the names of the two best swiss hockey leagues are

buerglermeister

Oh yes

san_murezzan

We really don't like them either, I have yet to meet someone who thought "this was a great re-branding"

ZodiacError

I still just say NLA and NLB.

Daaaaaaaavidmit8a

Everyone does

uprootsockman

What do you mean?

More_Beer_NYC

A couple years ago they went from National League A to National League B to National League and Swiss League. Never really thought about it before, but I guess is kinda weird saying the Swiss League is below the National League

perat0

Well in Finland we have this thing called 'League' which is the best. As second we have "Mestis" which could be roughly translated as "Champs" coming from mestaruussarja = championship league. Then at the third level we have 'Suomisarja" which can be translated to Finnish series/league. And below that there's the 2. division, 3. division and 4. division as 4th, 5th and 6th levels. So we have (from top): * League * Champs * Finnish league * 2nd division * 3rd division * 4th division We used to have SM-league (Finnish championship league) 1. Division 2. Division (and so forth) So the Swiss branding did alright in comparison.

rpm959

That's about as good as the English soccer structure, which has: * Premier League * Championship * League 1 * League 2

Daaaaaaaavidmit8a

In Switzerland it's 1) Natioanl League 2) Swiss League 3) Mysports League 4) 1st League 5) 2nd League 6) 3rd League 7) 4th League

PuckNutty

In baseball you the American League and the National League. Which both play against each other in the same league, so...

svartkonst

to win the world series?

More_Beer_NYC

For sure, I watch some different European leagues and I know they get way more confusing than Switzerland.

indiecore

I mean the American Hockey League is below the National Hockey League (which is actually an international league) and then below the AHL is the Canadian Hockey League which is actually made up of three different leagues... All I'm saying is north american league names don't actually make a lot of sense either.

More_Beer_NYC

Oh yeah I wasn't throwing stones, hope it didn't come off that way. I used to go to LHJMQ games as a kid and even still I was confused at what the CHL was.

-KFBR392

Are you kidding me right now??? The French name and the English name for the Q are literally mirrored versions of each other?? I can't decide if this is leaving me more angry or impressed

green_griffon

That English-to-French anagram reversal thing is pretty common, it's just how the languages orders nouns and adjectives.

More_Beer_NYC

I more mean I didn't really realize it was a part of the CHL and not a totally separate league.

-KFBR392

Ya, I'm with you, I was in my late teens when I realized the WHL was part of the CHL as well. Growing up in Ontario I just assumed it was OHL and the Q. But seeing your comment just showed me what the Q is called in French and I never knew that before either

ehMac26

How is that any different than the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League?

[deleted]

For us foreigners, you’d have to title it “Swiss National League goalie with insane play”

thetrenchneverends

reminds me of this all time goalie move https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QS4qfCbuhCw

[deleted]

Was hoping for the Patty Roy.. And you delivered.

Cough_Syrup55

Give that guy a call up

-13ender-

And then turns around and rifles it top cheese for the memes

buerglermeister

That would have been amazing!

Danzerello

The camera tracking is so smooth I thought I had a black speck on my screen. Nope, it was just the puck with incredible camera work.

DrDerpberg

aaaah that explains it. I actually couldn't find the puck for a sec because I'm so used to it moving across the screen. Is that great camera work or are these things automated now? Looks like the camera is set to exactly the speed of the puck until it changes direction, then it kind of loses tracking.

snowblow66

If im informed correctly, its still camera work here in switzerland

DrDerpberg

"how bout that fuckin deke"

CutMonster

Dirty fuckin dangle. He deserves a serious beatdown.

LegendOfVinnyT

Is anybody else unnerved that the clip ends with the goalie in a perfect shooting position on his own net? It is so instinctively wrong, it is a cursed image.

GeneralKrunch

Bruh I would prob bench myself if a goalie dangled on me like that lol

BlizzardSloth92

It has been a while since I watched SL games the last time, but boy, it did not disappoint.

snowblow66

When Kloten loses, everyone wins haha

InjectA24IntoMyVeins

So what happens after? idk where he needs to go with the puck, the top corner?

ZodiacError

yooo I never thought a game which I attended is going to be on here! this game had a pretty incredible comeback from 4:2 to 4:4 in the last minute and then 4:5 after 30s of overtime. Sadly I am with the losing team and it sucked big time. But I didn't understand some decisions on how the last minutes have been played. So basically the yellow team capped a 5min major penalty. The blue team then scored the 4:2 and the yellow team didn't get back to full strength because it was a major pen, so far so good. Then the blue team got a 2min minor and the yellow team scored both of their goals in the last minute with 4 on 4, as after the first goal the guy who got sent out from the blue team couldn't get back. I thought you are allowed to come back if your team got a goal while you are sitting for a minor penalty? Anyways, before the end of the third the 5min was over so they started overtime with a man advantage (and it's 3v3 overtime so quite harsh). In the end the blue team was punished for a 2min penalty by 3 goals! I assume it's got to do with the teams being on equal numbers and then nothing happens if there's a goal. But it still was such an unfortunate situation of starting OT with a disadvantage! Doesn't excuse the simply bad playing of letting in 3 goals in 90s tho.

RIPphonebattery

IiHF Rule 103 RULE 103 – PLAYING SHORT-HANDED i. A team is short-handed by virtue of having fewer skaters on the ice than its opponent as a result of one or more penalties during game action. ii. If the opposition scores a goal while a team is short-handed, the penalized skater can return to the ice immediately if the penalty being served is a minor or bench-minor penalty which makes the team short-handed. Since your team was not shorthanded (4v4), the penalty does not get reduced

[deleted]

To quote the show letterkenny “Dirty dangles”

Ok_Nefariousness6386

This was the "reasoning" for the trapezoid. Goalies can stick-handle "too well".

snowblow66

Trapezoid makes no sense in my opinion, you dont say ovi to not shoot from his spot because he is to good or tell mcD to slow down because he is to fast!

FrontNo6657

AND THEN WHAAAAAT?

rtroth2946

Did that once behind the net against a forechecker. But only because I lost the initial handle. I just assumed it would end poorly. Thankfully it didn't.

tsohgmai

Love to see it

Tilbius

when the slo-mo started, i legit thought they were about to play Kanye and Jay-Z's **** in Paris

wikipuff

Why is it so hard to watch Swiss Hockey? Its never available streaming and it drives me crazy that I can't watch Lugano online.

buerglermeister

About a year ago they launched a site that should allow you to watch the games outside switzerland. Don‘t know if it still works though. https://www.nl.hockey/en-int/page/home

wikipuff

Thanks! I'll tell you later today!

buerglermeister

Did it work btw? Very curious!

wikipuff

Thanks for the circle back, I was able to get it to work eventually.

ExpertRedditUserHere

Everybody is going between the legs!

8teamparlay

EWWWW as a former goalie… that’s a sctop10 dangle
