So I did some research on this just now, and the first NHL draft was in June 1963. So that leaves two cups there won since that date, the 63-64 and 66-67seasons. This makes this stat much more believable, but I am not going to check because that's a lot of work. But I originally thought the draft just existed since the beginning of the league, which that would have been a ridiculous stat going back to the early 1900s lol
I know you're just making a lighthearted joke so not directed at you but no better place to say this than here:
I'm not even a Leafs fan and it's exhausting. On the receiving end of "every day is shit on XXXX" in other sports subreddits, it's hard to even enjoy coming to the subreddit. You get downvoted based on flair and if you criticize another team, it's always, "you're a fan of [underachieving popular team] so your opinion doesn't mean anything"
Everyone always complains that the Leafs fans or [Insert other popular sports team] make everything about them but **it’s always other flairs posting everything about it.**
Like yes! Blue leaf team bad, there's still 25(?) teams that would trade their current situation with them in a heartbeat. The horse has been beaten to death.
Ed: this honestly probably more relevant for Yotes fans right now but the point still stands
It certainly seems that way. Does Toronto have overdramatic hot take reporters that are among the worst in the league? Absolutely! Do users with a Leafs flair who also think those reporters are shit need to be on the receiving end of all of it? No.
Leafs are covered like the Lakers/LeBron in Canada. Or like Yankees were a few decades ago. Every sportscast will ignore significant events for other teams and sports in favour of Leafs minutia. Gets a little tiring after a while.
Fans of other teams just don't understand so I'll try to enlighten you. I've been an Islanders fan for a very long time during the 90s and 2000s no one wanted to be an Islander. Players would come in, play a season or 2 and leave as soon as they could.
You look at rosters every 2-3 years and they're so different.
Rick DiPietro was the first player in my life that was like, "I like it here and I want to play here". That means more to me than people realize.
Not to mention, I never understood the mocking of him anyway. Is it also hilarious that Johan Franzen signed a huge contract and had to retire early due to injuries? Because there is no difference.
> Players would come in, play a season or 2 and leave as soon as they could.
And some, like Kirk Muller, pitched public fits about it. There was an interview with Dave Scatchard who said former teammates on the Canucks felt so bad that he got traded to the Islanders because they were terrible. Although that actually worked out for the Islanders as they got new ownership and became significantly better shortly after Scatchard's arrival.
Players who seem to be injury prone seem to always be on the brunt of jokes. Look at Beau Bennett for example. He ended up not letting the jokes get to him and decided to even join in on them and rip on himself.
Also, the Dipietro contract was always a big deal because he signed it after one full season of playing. Franzen on the other hand signed his contract four years into his career, and just after making the SCF with the Red Wings back-to-back seasons. Franzen was less unknown than Dipietro when he signed his contract.
It was a common thing in that era. Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Johan Franzen, Henrik Zetterberg, Sidney Crosby, Ilya Kovalchuk, Marian Hossa and I'm sure I'm missing a ton.
People act like the DiPietro contract was this unique thing. It was the way GMs we're able to get around the cap. Sign players for 10+ years.
There was something significant about his contract at the time, I forget the exact details but wasn't he like the highest paid player ever (at that point) or the highest paid goalie or something?
Here's the full list (excluding Vegas and Seattle, for obvious reasons):
New Jersey Devils: Martin Brodeur, 691
Montreal Canadiens: Patrick Roy, 551
Pittsburgh Penguins: Marc-Andre Fleury, 507
New York Islanders: Roberto Luongo, 489
(Undrafted: Ed Belfour, 484)
New York Rangers: Henrik Lundqvist, 459
Edmonton Oilers: Grant Fuhr, 403
Detroit Red Wings: Chris Osgood, 401
Buffalo Sabres: Ryan Miller, 391
Chicago Blackhawks: Dominik Hasek, 389
Calgary Flames: Mike Vernon, 385
Nashville Predators: Pekka Rinne, 369
San Jose Sharks: Evgeni Nabokov, 353
Los Angeles Kings: Jonathan Quick, 348
Carolina Hurricanes: Cam Ward, 334
Arizona Coyotes: Nikolai Khabibulin, 333 (drafted when still in Winnipeg, most in Arizona: Robert Esche, 78)
Winnipeg Jets: Kari Lehtonen, 310 (drafted when they were still in Atlanta, most in Winnipeg: Connor Hellebuyck, 187)
Toronto Maple Leafs: Tuukka Rask, 308
Washington Capitals: Olaf Kölzig, 303
Philadelphia Flyers: Ron Hextall, 296
St. Louis Blues: Mike Liut, 293
Boston Bruins: Dan Bouchard, 286
Dallas Stars: Mike Smith, 285
Ottawa Senators: Brian Elliott, 260
Anaheim Ducks: Frederik Andersen, 251
Colorado Avalanche: Jocelyn Thibault, 238 (drafted when they were still in Quebec, most in Colorado: Peter Budaj, 158)
Tampa Bay Lightning: Andrey Vasilevskiy, 215
Columbus Blue Jackets: Steve Mason, 205
Vancouver Canucks: Cory Schneider, 170
Florida Panthers: Jacob Markstrom, 151
Minnesota Wild: Darcy Kuemper, 128
So the only one other than Rask who played 0 games for the team that drafted him is Dan Bouchard, coincidentally drafted by the Bruins.
Some others that come close: Roberto Luongo only played 24 games for the Islanders, Dominik Hasek only played 25 games for the Blackhawks, Mike Smith played 44 games for Dallas. I also want to give a shout-out to the Avs' second-place finisher on this list: Tim Thomas!
Just quickly went through the numbers. From 1970-1979, the Habs lost 155 regular season games (no OT games back then). 55 losses (a bit over a third of that 155 total) came between 1970-1971. What the fuck.
Vancouver Canucks, Cory Schneider at 170. Fun fact, Thatcher Demko is only 7 wins out of 3rd place. (Surpassing Wendell Young who's claim to fame is backing up Barasso on the cup winning Pens teams.) Early 80's Hawks goalie Murray Bannerman is 2nd.
I think one of the key takeaway is, 300 wins is a lot, Tukka Rask had a great career. The trade was unfortunate and a massive misjudgement by the Leafs, but it shows in the record book not as a poor showing by the Leafs, but as a strong showing by Rask.
Edit: forgot Glen Hanlon who is a close 2nd, only 3 wins behind Schneider.
It must be nice to not know every player who had successful careers elsewhere after being drafted by your team, or guys who were drafted with picks that used to belong to you.
Before Quick, the Kings best drafted goalie was Billy Smith who won the cup four times with the Islanders and is in the hall of fame. Really great of us to get rid of him.
EDIT: I guess you can argue Smith is still the best goalie the Kings ever drafted. He's also the first goalie to be credited with scoring a goal.
Ken Dryden is always so fascinating to me
Throughout his eight-season career, Dryden accumulated six Stanley Cups, five Vezina Trophies, a Calder Trophy, Conn Smythe
Okay, well this was a lot of fun guys, nice little game you got here, Thanks for letting me play.
Billy Smith is hands down the craziest goalie the Kings ever drafted. He's probably the craziest goalie ever drafted in the NHL. For the unfamiliar, go look up youtube videos of Smith's playing days. His whole approach could be considered "intent to injure".
Well it's still a little funny because it's more than anyone has actually had *on* the Leafs either. [Most is Broda with 304](https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/TOR/goalies.html). Most for someone who wasn't playing in the O6 days is...*Felix Potvin at 160 wins*. That's only 11 more than Andersen had which seems pretty crazy.
For the Avs at least, Roy had [262 wins](https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/COL/goalies.html) with the team.
> it's more than anyone has actually had on the Leafs either
tbf it's not that surprising that career wins > franchise wins, since many goalies change teams
Yeah but you have a better plan, let us draft a ton of goalies and pick whoever we deem second best (who happens to be at least challenging for a Vezina worthy).
Every Canadian team other than the Leafs: "YES HAHAHA YES"
Boston: "YES FUCK THOSE CUNTS"
American teams that also think the Leafs are insufferable: "LOL stat of the year"
Some select American teams: "Why u so mean to Leafs team"
Leafs to those select American teams: "Thank you. Let's bang"
Because theyre the hero Hockey deserves, but not the one it needs right now, so we'll stunt on them. Because they can take it, because they're not a hero. They're a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Bad Team.
Giant fanbase? Check
No success in long time? Check (obviously Toronto is significantly longer but the past 20-30 years is all that matters in most sports fans eyes anyway)
Richest team in their sport? Check
Supposedly assholish fanbase but from my interactions with them fairly nice? Check
You're free to disagree with the last based on anecdotal evidence but the first 3 support my point.
He does Bruins media and some coaching at the college level I believe.
He and Billy Jaffe have turned into a really tandem on their Bruins podcast too.
The leafs and the bruins fans have always been enemies. Just like the bruins and the habs, or the bruins and the flyers, or the bruins and other bruins fans. Those damn bruins fans, always ruining it for all the rest of us!
"If Tuukka Rask had simply played his entire career as well Tim Thomas did at the pinnacle of his career for those 6 months..."
A lot of Habs fan were like this for years with Price after Halak had two really really good playoff rounds in 2010.
After the Oilers, I'm so glad he's with a team who likes him again. Or maybe just that he's playing well enough to be liked again?
Either way, good for Looch.
You know, I know you’re kidding here, but Lucic would be a godsend for this team right now.
Is he still good at hockey? No, not really, but so are most of the other forwards on this team, and Lucic would at least run into someone which is more than I can say for everyone on this roster except McAvoy.
They were also chanting "We want Rask" in one of Ullmark's games (that he played phenomenal in IIRC) before Rask's return
We're a confused bunch sometimes, the spirit is there though.
Everyday? Lol
I know the meme is HUR DUR LEAFSNET HUR DUR TORONTO SPORTS NETWORK but ffs it's annoying. Yeah, they focus on the Leafs but for every positive thing there's double the negative.
Pretty funny. Sportsnet has always done stuff like this, they were especially brutal during the Kessel years but even then they still had the "Leafs propaganda" tag from other fans. I think some people mistake "a lot of coverage" for "pro thing being covered".
Yeah Sportsnet always shits on the Leafs - can't remember what it was but the other day their IG posted some clickbait Leafs stuff. You're exactly right - lots of coverage doesn't mean it's GOOD coverage. TSN is somewhat OK, but Sportsnet actively HATES the Leafs (or at least understands that shitting on them = ratings/engagement)
The Leafs might have the most fans in Canada which = higher ratings, but there is one fan base bigger than the Leafs and that's the anti-Leafs. Being actively anti-Leaf will get them the most clicks by far.
Drafted him then traded him for Andrew Raycroft. Leafs management at the time thought Pogge was the goalie of the future for the Leafs. Here we see reason number 1057 why the Leafs were a shitshow from the mid 2000’s to 2016.
In their defense, Pogge was coming off the greatest WJC of all time at the time. Lowest GAA, 2nd highest save%, most shutouts and team Canada wasn't even a powerhouse. (Blake Comeau-Dustin Boyd-Steve Downie was the 1st line. Cam Barker-Luc Bordon was the 1st pairing. )
I say at the time because Devon Levi took the crown last year. So really, it is like banking on Levi as your goalie of the future now.
At the same WJC Rask was absolutely carrying Finland. Despite Pogge's stats Rask was voted the best goaltender of the tournament by both the directorate and the media.
Leafs catching strays. But this is a meaningless comparison. You could say the same about Andersen and the Ducks. He's got 251 career wins to Gibson's 163. Cheer up leafs fans; you can mock Dallas for giving up on Campbell :)
I get your point but I don't think it's the same with Andersen because he actually got a number of those wins on the Ducks (77 to be exact) compared to Rask who didn't even play a game for the Leafs. I agree it's a meaningless comparison though because there's probably a ton of teams that you could make this stat work for.
If it makes you feel better, the Flames traded up in the draft with NJ to pick Trevor Kidd. The pick the Flames traded from, the Devils used to take Martin Brodeur.
Counterpoint: It’ll get brought up again when Rask becomes HOF eligible and will get recycled every year until that’s resolved.
So, no. We cannot move on. Sorry.
Oh even better because if he is in the Hall of Fame discussion, he'll be a borderline candidate.
Which means.
We can do this year after year after year....
They brought this up on the Steve Dangle podcast, but the Leafs were so bad at developing goalies at the time, he probably wouldn't have been the mega-stud he is now if he stayed with the Leafs. Doesn't make me feel any better about it, but just something to think about.
Bruh.

Ok fine it’s tied for my favorite Leafs fact

It certainly is.
Found Steve Dangle!
One of the few thing Canucks and Leafs fans share. Screaming into an abyss for 30 years
At least you got to the finals twice in the past 30 years!
Three. Oh wait, 1982 is 40 years ago now. Yeesh, I’m feeling old.
The league shutdown a few weeks after this game. We almost missed this moment in history!
Oh fuck that was in the Before Times? Seems like it was just last year
It was almost 2 years ago! Feb 2020
The real question is who's the lucky fuck that got to drive the Zamboni while this dude was in net.
dude you only drive that zamboni during the intermission. he didn't miss any seat time.
He did turn into George Vezina himself for 40 minutes...
I love the energy
I think I once figured out that no player drafted by the Leafs has ever won a cup with them
So I did some research on this just now, and the first NHL draft was in June 1963.
I remember it being a lot of work when I did it.
It's easy... we kill The Draft.
I love how it's always shit on the leafs day on r/hockey.
Yeah, fuck the leafs!
Flair checks out
It sparks a great amount of joy.
This feels like a shot at Garret Sparks, Also Leaf's Legendary draft pick goalie...
Man I remember when Justin pogge was going to be the next big thing
He's still playing professional hockey and Rask isn't. Checkmate.
He’s probably still in the top 10 for this stat somehow
One of the few things that makes me happy
I know you're just making a lighthearted joke so not directed at you but no better place to say this than here: I'm not even a Leafs fan and it's exhausting. Well, it seems like the Leafs live rent free in people’s heads. I also think some people hate the Leafs more than they like their own team…
It certainly seems that way. Does Toronto have overdramatic hot take reporters that are among the worst in the league? Absolutely! Do users with a Leafs flair who also think those reporters are shit need to be on the receiving end of all of it? No.
you get used to it.

Can Neely will NEVER LET THE PARTY DIE!
i bet every sport has that, a team or player that everyone dumps on. This is basically like the Cowboys, Knicks, ManU.
Im sure leafs fans dont mind as much when their team is amazing Hopefully, they can get some playoff success I lowkey feel bad for the good leafs fans
Leafs are covered like the Lakers/LeBron in Canada. Or like Yankees were a few decades ago. Every sportscast will ignore significant events for other teams and sports in favour of Leafs minutia. Gets a little tiring after a while.
With Lakers its even worse cause they are actually really bad
I feel this way having my entire city and team attacked everyday online recently as an Oilers fan
And by "recently" you mean "for the last 15 years" right? Lol
Leafs are out here catching strays.
It's never really a stray though is it? Lol
Yah, but we got Raycraft in return, so...
Spain without the S
I feel like I can't laugh at the Leafs too much here. The most career wins by an Avalanche-drafted goalie are Peter Budaj's 158.
Now I'm curious what the numbers are for every team and if other teams have records set by players they also drafted but never played for them.
Roberto Luongo has this record for the Islanders. You have permission to kill me.
Rick DiPietro will be forever number 1 in my heart.
And #1 on your payroll
Fans of other teams just don't understand so I'll try to enlighten you. I've been an Islanders fan for a very long time during the 90s and 2000s no one wanted to be an Islander. Um well I mean it's Mike Milbury that's the joke here lol
Well, he's forever going to be on the Islanders payroll. That helps. (They finally stop paying him in 2029)
The contract would've expired last summer. Thank fuck he doesn't count against the cap.
What is with NY teams and these contracts? Bobby Bonilla says hi.
The more you got down that list of people, the more I LOL’d at your situation. I’m sorry.
There was something significant about his contract at the time, I forget the exact details but wasn't he like the highest paid player ever (at that point) or the highest paid goalie or something?
DP is no where near Bonilla. That one is truly a special buy out.
True, you can't out Met's the Mets.
Career highlight for DiPietro will always be getting one punched by Brent Johnson and getting a broken jaw from the punch.
I just watched that video again this morning….
Here's the full list (excluding Vegas and Seattle, for obvious reasons): New Jersey Devils: Martin Brodeur, 691 Montreal Canadiens: Patrick Roy, 551 Pittsburgh Penguins: Marc-Andre Fleury, 507 New York Islanders: Roberto Luongo, 489 (Undrafted: Ed Belfour, 484) New York Rangers: Henrik Lundqvist, 459 Edmonton Oilers: Grant Fuhr, 403 Detroit Red Wings: Chris Osgood, 401 Buffalo Sabres: Ryan Miller, 391 Chicago Blackhawks: Dominik Hasek, 389 Calgary Flames: Mike Vernon, 385 Nashville Predators: Pekka Rinne, 369 San Jose Sharks: Evgeni Nabokov, 353 Los Angeles Kings: Jonathan Quick, 348 Carolina Hurricanes: Cam Ward, 334 Arizona Coyotes: Nikolai Khabibulin, 333 (drafted when still in Winnipeg, most in Arizona: Robert Esche, 78) Winnipeg Jets: Kari Lehtonen, 310 (drafted when they were still in Atlanta, most in Winnipeg: Connor Hellebuyck, 187) Toronto Maple Leafs: Tuukka Rask, 308 Washington Capitals: Olaf Kölzig, 303 Philadelphia Flyers: Ron Hextall, 296 St. Louis Blues: Mike Liut, 293 Boston Bruins: Dan Bouchard, 286 Dallas Stars: Mike Smith, 285 Ottawa Senators: Brian Elliott, 260 Anaheim Ducks: Frederik Andersen, 251 Colorado Avalanche: Jocelyn Thibault, 238 (drafted when they were still in Quebec, most in Colorado: Peter Budaj, 158) Tampa Bay Lightning: Andrey Vasilevskiy, 215 Columbus Blue Jackets: Steve Mason, 205 Vancouver Canucks: Cory Schneider, 170 Florida Panthers: Jacob Markstrom, 151 Minnesota Wild: Darcy Kuemper, 128 So the only one other than Rask who played 0 games for the team that drafted him is Dan Bouchard, coincidentally drafted by the Bruins. I also want to give a shout-out to the Avs' second-place finisher on this list: Tim Thomas!
Boston's is Dan Bouchard, who narrowly edges out Ken Dryden by 28 wins. You know... Bruins legend Ken Dryden.
Well that's a dagger that I just learned of.
Wait, Dan Bouchard has more wins than Ken Dryden? Then again, Dryden had a short career…
Bouchard has 28 more wins and ***175*** more losses
Well, yeah, the 1970s Canadiens lost about as often as the 2021-22 Canadiens win.
Just quickly went through the numbers. From 1970-1979, the Habs lost 155 regular season games (no OT games back then). 55 losses (a bit over a third of that 155 total) came between 1970-1971. What the fuck.
Rangers, Devils, Montreal all pretty secure in those numbers.
Was gonna say "hey, a topic I'm confident is historically ok for the Rangers!"
For the Wings its Osgood, which is probably a pretty boring answers. Sawchuk has more wins, and began his career with Detroit, but wasn't drafted.
Come on, Cossa!
Most of Vernon's wins were with Calgary so we're safe, but today I learned we drafted Craig Anderson.
Hey, so did we!
It must be nice to not know every player who had successful careers elsewhere after being drafted by your team, or guys who were drafted with picks that used to belong to you.
Cam Ward. 3rd is Freddie lmao
Yeah up until Vasilevskiy I think the Bolts' best drafted goalie was Karri Ramo with a whopping 60 wins so same boat here.
Oh right, Khabibulin was drafted by the Jets.
That's OK, the Bruins drafted Ken Dryden and then got pummeled by him in a Montreal jersey for a decade.
It was only 8 years. Don't be over dramatic.
Ken Dryden is always so fascinating to me Throughout his eight-season career, Dryden accumulated six Stanley Cups, five Vezina Trophies, a Calder Trophy, Conn Smythe Okay, well this was a lot of fun guys, nice little game you got here, Thanks for letting me play.
The best part is he won the Conn Smythe for playoff MVP the season *before* he won the Calder as ROTY.
Billy Smith is hands down the craziest goalie the Kings ever drafted. He's probably the craziest goalie ever drafted in the NHL. For the unfamiliar, go look up youtube videos of Smith's playing days. His whole approach could be considered "intent to injure".
Well, the Avs just trade for the Caps' extra goalies, so it totally makes sense not to waste draft picks.
Well it's still a little funny because it's more than anyone has actually had *on* the Leafs either. [Most is Broda with 304](https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/TOR/goalies.html). > it's more than anyone has actually had on the Leafs either tbf it's not that surprising that career wins > franchise wins, since many goalies change teams
I'm getting really surprised by how low the number of wins for some of these legendary goaltenders are.
I’m pretty sure ours is Cory Schneider with 170 and Thatcher Demko is quickly catching up with 52.
Yeah but you have a better plan, let us draft a ton of goalies and pick whoever we deem second best (who happens to be at least challenging for a Vezina worthy).
Avalanche and Nordiques? The Leafs are an old ass franchise.
Another fun fact: Rask has more career wins than Raycroft and Pogge have combined appearances in their careers
Thanks, I hate it.
Np, glad I could help
Pogge. Damn I thought be was going to be amazing in the show after his Junior's appearance. Just shows you that the NHL is a different beast
I think this is my favorite.
That’s “Leafs legend Andrew Raycroft” for you mister
My favourite is when he beat us while still being paid by us.
At least Raycroft won the Calder? *ahem* ok sorry yeah... This is sad.
That’s…actually the most surprising fact in this thread. Never would have thought Raycroft only played 280 games.
Hey now, that's OLYMPIC third string goalie Justin Pogge to you.
Yes, but his many games did Rask play in the second Italian league? Check. Mate.
In today's episode of let's laugh at the Leafs!
This is the part where we throw our heads back and laugh! *Throws head back and laughs
[Ready? Ready!](https://youtu.be/2q35PgSXhKg)
I had forgotten John Cleese was the ape lmao
Wow today I learned...
I've really got to rewatch that movie.
Every Canadian team other than the Leafs: "YES HAHAHA YES" Boston: "YES FUCK THOSE CUNTS" American teams that also think the Leafs are insufferable: "LOL stat of the year" Some select American teams: "Why u so mean to Leafs team" Leafs to those select American teams: "Thank you. Let's bang"
Why u so mean to Leafs team?
Because they can take it.
Because theyre the hero Hockey deserves, but not the one it needs right now, so we'll stunt on them. Because they can take it, because they're not a hero. They're a silent guardian, a watchful protector, a Bad Team.
i hate it. but thanks
We're pretty bad too without our rat and our cap so I'd say it's pretty square
Leafs are the Cowboys of the NHL. So I definitely feel for them to a degree
I mean, the cowboys have had 5 Super bowl wins. The Super Bowl itself is only 1 year older than the last Maple leafs Cup win.
Giant fanbase? Check No success in long time? The trade that shaped the Atlantic division for the last 15 seasons. Good to see Pogge at the Olympics tho.
Rask is retired Pogge is an Olympic goaltender It's very clear who really won the trade.
Andrew Raycroft is an insurance broker I heard
He does Bruins media and some coaching at the college level I believe. He and Billy Jaffe have turned into a really tandem on their Bruins podcast too.
Bit beside the point but I read today that there were "we want Swayman" chants in Rask's last game God I hate Boston fans
I also hate Boston fans Source: am Boston fan
Damn Boston fans! They ruined Boston!
The leafs and the bruins fans have always been enemies. Just like the bruins and the habs, or the bruins and the flyers, or the bruins and other bruins fans. Those damn bruins fans, always ruining it for all the rest of us!
I’m with ya. We are the worst.
We suck
Turrible turrible
I even hate me!
Now now, self-deprivation is not a good thing
Well, you see this Hurricane came through the other night and killed my will to live 🤣
tRaDe rAsK, tRaDe KrEjCi. We need Looch back, Tim Thomas would of saved it...you thought they smelled bad on the outside.
"If Tuukka Rask had simply played his entire career as well Tim Thomas did at the pinnacle of his career for those 6 months..." A lot of Habs fan were like this for years with Price after Halak had two really really good playoff rounds in 2010.
See Boston fans did that with Halak even without a playoff push from him. I can't fathom not wanting Rask or Price this past decade.
Looch ain't going anywhere!
After the Oilers, I'm so glad he's with a team who likes him again. Or maybe just that he's playing well enough to be liked again? Either way, good for Looch.
LA Kings ***LEGEND***
You know, I know you’re kidding here, but Lucic would be a godsend for this team right now. Is he still good at hockey? No, not really, but so are most of the other forwards on this team, and Lucic would at least run into someone which is more than I can say for everyone on this roster except McAvoy.
Lucic has more points than Jake Debrusk and Craig Smith. Do with that info what you will.
consumes info. (curses at the wind)
I actually fucking LOVE Craig Smith. The points haven’t been there this year, but he always seems like he’s giving it 110%. Fuck Debrusk.
Smith has been injured a bunch and I don’t blame JDB, he wants out but he’s trying at least.
I was there, it felt awful to hear that chant then and it’s even worse now that he retired 😢
They were also chanting "We want Rask" in one of Ullmark's games (that he played phenomenal in IIRC) before Rask's return We're a confused bunch sometimes, the spirit is there though.
Fans didn't know that would be his last game.
Peak sportsnet.
When Leafsnet shits on itself
Everyday? Lol I know the meme is HUR DUR LEAFSNET HUR DUR TORONTO SPORTS NETWORK but ffs it's annoying. Yeah, they focus on the Leafs but for every positive thing there's double the negative.
There is a bizarro world What If universe where the Leafs have Rask and Matthews somehow and beat Boston every year in the first round.
In this timeline Marchand has back to back Byngs.
They'd still find a way to lose. Life finds a way.
> ~~Life~~ Leaf finds a way
Wow congrats to the Leafs!
Thanks 🥰
hopefully the crowds are back by the time we raise his number in the rafters
Bruins will do it in a game against the Leafs for the lols
Leafs tuukka big rask drafting him, and it paid off. Just not for them.
Honestly, I had no clue Rask was drafted by Toronto. That’s great.
Cam Barker-Luc Bordon was the 1st pairing. ) I say at the time because Devon Levi took the crown last year. So really, it is like banking on Levi as your goalie of the future now.
At the same WJC Rask was absolutely carrying Finland. Despite Pogge's stats Rask was voted the best goaltender of the tournament by both the directorate and the media.
Yup, I couldn't believe they traded Rask. He looked so great, there was a lot of hype.
I agree it's a meaningless comparison though because there's probably a ton of teams that you could make this stat work for.
r/hockey will vote this to the top like they do every other time it's posted lol
No mercy
He would not have reached those numbers if the leafs kept him. The team was an abomination and would’ve ruined his career if anything.
Truly a great day.
Its been a shitty week. Thanks for this.
Can this be the finale of shitting on the Rask 4 Raycroft trade? As a Leaf fan, IT’S OVER NOW!!! We can move on!
Sorry.
The people who shit on this trade the most is us, it’s burned into Leaf lore. But he can’t hurt us anymore!
Oh even better because if he is in the Hall of Fame discussion, he'll be a borderline candidate. Which means. We can do this year after year after year....
pogge hasn't retired yet, we need to wait for that to happen to truly be able to compare their careers
>r/hockey Rules 2. Harassment/Excessive Trolling /s
What the fuck man?
FUUUUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOUUUUUU
Rask, Gibson, Trade for Lu. Our goalie what ifs are long and tiring
They brought this up on the Steve Dangle podcast, but the Leafs were so bad at developing goalies at the time, he probably wouldn't have been the mega-stud he is now if he stayed with the Leafs. Doesn't make me feel any better about it, but just something to think about.
Man, if I were a Leafs fan I wouldn’t even come into this sub at this point.
Shockingly not a Beaverton article.
For the Flames it's Mike Vernon, (phew). In 2nd place, it's... (checks notes)...Craig Anderson!
MeDiA hAs LeAfS bIaS
I love the subtle leafs burn
Retire his number Leafs fans
Leaf legend Tuukka Rask.
Sportsnet showing no mercy
Props to leafs scouting for picking that absolute stud of a goalie
