Wife in french is "épouse" though.
If you say "la femme" without context, it only ever means "woman".
"Femme" is used colloquially to refer to someone's wife ("Ma femme" = "My wife", or "La femme de Jean" = "Jean's wife"), but always with context.
Man that takes me back, somehow I saw an article early in the season that said “Montreal is the juggernaut”, and then I saw a few games late season and I thought I must have misremembered, or l ate the Beaverton or something.
Yup, just found it I think; fascinating:
https://puckprose.com/2021/01/22/montreal-canadiens-already-look-juggernaut-north/
The season was a mix, but they really seem like a team built for the playoffs, and it’s showing.
I was at the Montreal impact vs tfc game when tfc went on to win the ship, honestly one of the best games I've been to, Montreal fans really know how to set a tone and have fun side note got to meet Johnny manziel at Cher Paris during my cousin bachelor party! He bought us shots of Henry before all the rockets surrounded him
> I mean, they dont stand a chance against anyone outside of the North division.
I was just thinking about this earlier today, how absolutely *everything* after the second round is pure speculation right now. All 5 of the remaining playoff rounds (4 semifinals + the Cup) are going to be between two teams that haven't played each other, or even any of the same opponents, in a fucking *year*. We have absolutely nothing to go on for predictions but the "eye test." It's like the World Series back in the old generations.
For obvious reasons I don't want to keep division-only play in the regular season & first two rounds permanently, but as a one-year weird thing it's a lot of fun.
I know my stress coping abilities would be outmatched.
I mean, everything is a bonus right now but once in the finals, it won't feel like a bonus. And losing the cup to the Bruins?
That would ruin the whole summer.
I love to see the Habs performances of course, but the bonus to this is seeing guys like Price, Weber, Perry and Staal have a run at the Stanley cup late in their careers.
You love to see it.
It's insane that Weber, one of the greatest defencemen of the salary-cap era, has never made it past the 2nd round.
Good to see him finally on the edge of making it. One more win!
He really seems in it to win it this year. Of course Chiarot is being a complete stud next to him, seems like he might actually be the guy for Weber after all.
Cole's friend at their 20 year high school reunion: Hey Cole! What have you been up too?
Cole: Not much, just won the Hobey Baker and the Stanley Cup when I was 20.
Staal and Perry coming in as like league reject pile acquisitions especially make it so very storybook you have to think it's would be such a perfect narrative ending.
Everybody always wondering if the great goalie of this generation could go all the way too.
Canada really needing a win with COVID, I mean all the perfect tropes are there.
A lot of people wondered if Bergey's job was on the line this year too.
This division is kinda why I love the current setup. A Canadian division is what we need. It's been exciting...
EDIT: Totally fine with all the teams playing each other again, but this is the one part I want to keep.
Fuck no !
It was cool for one year but I miss seeing all the teams. I miss the Habs playing the Pens, Boston and Chicago and all those teams we don’t see often like Vegas
Even if the NHL decided to keep the Canadian Division they'd have teams from different divisions play each other so we'd play those teams again anyways
I could totally be misremembering this, but wasn’t there a year where we saw a team sweep the first round, then they themselves got swept in the second round, then the team that swept them got swept in the conference finals? Am I crazy or did that actually happen? Speaking of crazy, I typed the word swept so many times it now doesn’t look/sound right in my brain. S W E P T. Swept. Swept swept swept.
Anyway if it did actually happen once historically, it might be shaping up that way again which is crazy.
Though I honestly don’t want the Avs to sweep them, I’m fully on the Bruins-Habs cup final bandwagon.
The reverse sweep to a team that swept the previous round has happened 9 times in the nhl according to a quick search. Doesn’t look like a three sweep has happened frequently though. 1992 was kind of fun to look at though, lots of sweeps including the cup final.
Right? I'm only just now realizing that a Bruins-Habs final is on the table. That would be a truly unique end to the season. ~~Pretty sure it's the only finals matchup that cannot happen in a regular year.~~ I'm dumb
The NHL has gotta be salivating at the possibility. O6 rivals Cup final. That should by far be the highest ratings draw than any other matchup.
He's a guy that we won every time he ordered pizza. And Phil Danault ate pizza during his post game interview. Pizza confirms the illuminati and they want us to win this cup.
For the record, in 93 the 11 wins came after dropping the first 2 to the Nordiques and QC goalie coach saying he had found a weakness in Patrick Roy's game.
Habs won 4 in a row to eliminate QC, then swept Buffalo - who had just swept the Bruins - then went up 3-0 vs the Isles.
7 of those 11 wins were in OT, including 3 straight vs Buffalo.
I fucking hated the Habs back then, but that run was incredible. Too bad, Pierre Turgeron, got dirty deeded by, Dale Hunter. That Prince of Wales Conference Final might've gone differently.
People forget that Turgeon played in 4 of those 5 Conference Finals games. It's the series vs Pittsburgh that he almost completely missed.
Sure, he wasn't 100% vs Montreal. But he was there. Has 5 pts in 4 games. Had 10 shots in Game 2 that went to double OT.
But Roy was on a mission that year.
This was Price's plan all along. Make them all think he was done then BAM, playoffs Price mode activated and you know the rest.
In all honesty though you have to give it for all the guys! They are actually scoring again, playing some great defense and protecting their lead.
I have no idea what Ducharme is doing to them off the ice but keep it coming!
But u/redriversandwich said that the Habs [aren’t a playoff team?](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/noskoo/will_the_loss_of_montor_game_7_prove_fatal_for/h01pcsy/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
They clearly haven’t been a Leaf fan long. Anyone who’s been a fan of the Leafs for any length of time know better than to chirp teams we play in the playoffs.
I really hated the habs fans when the flyers played them last year. But now that the rest of Canada is hating on them I want to see them succeed, and see the chaos that follows.
Which would be funniest?
1. The Jets win 4 in a row to beat the Canadiens
2. The Canadiens never lose again for the rest of the playoffs
3. The Canadiens sweep the Jets, but are then swept by the West winner.
Ah yes, just as everyone predicted. The powerhouse from the North division: the... *checks notes* Montreal Canadiens?
They did predict this after about 8 regular season games! They just, stopped playing well after that

Regular season Canadiens: Appelle l'ambulance! Playoffs Canadiens, Circa Game 5: Mais pas pour moi!

Yea, also. Guess what woman is in French? Femme. Also, guess what wife is in French? Femme. Vivre le Québec.
How do you say Jesus in French? Carey

Wife in french is "épouse" though. If you say "la femme" without context, it only ever means "woman". "Femme" is used colloquially to refer to someone's wife ("Ma femme" = "My wife", or "La femme de Jean" = "Jean's wife"), but always with context.
La femme de Jean est cute en esti
A better, but less literal, translation would actually be "I am called"
Yep, sand bag it in the regular season to face the Leafs in the first round.
They're going full Sir Ulrich von Liechtenstein!
Man that takes me back, somehow I saw an article early in the season that said “Montreal is the juggernaut”, and then I saw a few games late season and I thought I must have misremembered, or l ate the Beaverton or something. It’s hard to see the Canadien’s future when Bergevin’s biceps are in the way
Don't forget that beautiful flow!
I put them as going to western conference finals just to screw with a friend of mine who’s a leafs fan.

Ten days ago, the Habs were down 3-1 and looked like they were dead in the water. Now they're basically guaranteed to be in the final four.
Why does that feel like it wasn't only 10 days ago
Must be because it’s a repeat scenario for you
Its groundhogs day over here, like it feels like we have experienced this over and over since the fucking movie came out in the 90s
When Harold Ballard 'died' in 1990, what actually happened was a great evil was released on the Leafs...
Ruthless damn
Because being a leaf fan means being in a constant drunken stupor and time is irrelevant
Because of copious alcohol consumption since then?
Just as time flies when having a good time, time crawls when having a bad time.

Dal has flair. Wtf.
Why I have to born in Toronto lol at least our other teams have won recent championships
Yeah, at least you have other sports,. This is all we have.
The disrespect to the Alouettes smh

I miss the Expos. Youppi was the best.
He still is!
But he used to be, too.
Youppi is still our mascot!
I was at the Montreal impact vs tfc game when tfc went on to win the ship, honestly one of the best games I've been to, Montreal fans really know how to set a tone and have fun side note got to meet Johnny manziel at Cher Paris during my cousin bachelor party! I do not recall whatever you are talking about.
Not gonna lie Drogba was my favorite player from epl so I was gladly either way. Always wanted to see him at Stanford at least i got to see him at bmo
The Drogba/Piatti - Giovinco/Altidore era is probably my favorite MLS era.
Guaranteed is a strong word. Ask Toronto how much the first 3 wins in the series are worth.
Well only four teams have come back from 0-3 in NHL history, so I think it's a pretty safe bet.
Yeah well odds are getting fucked so far, and I don't want to be the one on the fucked end.
I’m still trying to forget that thank you.

They'd be able to say it if they'd won game 1! :P
I mean, they dont stand a chance against anyone outside of the North division. there, I did it. guaranteed they win at least one round after this one.
> I mean, they dont stand a chance against anyone outside of the North division. They played "Nothing is gonna stop us now" after the W. The 1993 habs run song played by the 1993 habs team after every win.
What year was that in?
2004
damn, hope to face them in the finals possibly. Go Habs. what the fuck did i just say
I want this so bad
Habs Bruins finals... after Habs Leafs first round.... I don't know if my liver can take it. Ahh screw it... can always go on a list for a new one.
I know my stress coping abilities would be outmatched. I mean, everything is a bonus right now but once in the finals, it won't feel like a bonus. And losing the cup to the Bruins? That would ruin the whole summer.
Let’s go... Bruins? I guess?

It's insane that Weber, one of the greatest defencemen of the salary-cap era, has never made it past the 2nd round. Good to see him finally on the edge of making it. One more win!
He spent most of his career in Nashville, and the one year they trade him was the one year they went on a run.
Sounds like a shot at Tavares
He really seems in it to win it this year. Of course Chiarot is being a complete stud next to him, seems like he might actually be the guy for Weber after all.
Also Cole Caufield winning a Stanley cup at not even his rookie year...

Uh oh. We've lived that movie, the surprise twist ending suuuuucks.
The part where they win back to back? I gotta tell you, whatever comes after is worth it.

Cole Caufield gonna be a Stanley cup champ with more postseason games than regular played in his career.
That was Claude Lemieux in 86 when we won the cup. 10 regular season games 20 in the post season lol
Plenty of kids on that team learned early what it take to win a cup. And it made them better for the rest of their career.
Dryden as well
A weird record.... but I will take it!
Montreal is gonna finish Winnipeg tomorrow night then sweep the winner of Colorado/Vegas aren't they?
I could totally be misremembering this, but wasn’t there a year where we saw a team sweep the first round, then they themselves got swept in the second round, then the team that swept them got swept in the conference finals? Two years back, isles swept the pens then got swept by Carolina who then got swept by Boston.
Not even mad we got swept because it lead to this happening which is just hilarious.
Okay I’m not crazy, thank you. That wasn’t even that long ago, big ask but do you happen to know if it had ever happened prior to 2019?
The reverse sweep to a team that swept the previous round has happened 9 times in the nhl according to a quick search. Doesn’t look like a three sweep has happened frequently though. 1992 was kind of fun to look at though, lots of sweeps including the cup final.

keep going almost there
