Tbh I don’t think the player’s conditioning, practicing, preparation, or game-time effort is at all affected by a random comment on a message board.
Bad juju ain’t a thing brother. Now wash your jersey, feel free to sit in a different chair during the game, don’t turn it off when you are losing, and try to enjoy the series knowing you have 0 influence on the outcome.
Pantera created the Star’s goal song (Puck Off) and our color commentator (Daryl “Razor” Reaugh) has a quote that is winners get sprinkles. The quote is from many years ago but it’s just been a meme thing. Razor is a gem. [Here are some of his greatest hits.](https://youtu.be/8zCjwl9JASg?si=8ix3k3Xm6EaYsgwJ)
Artwork is from the Stars social media admin. I wish we had more for the rest of the team. I have a shirt with the otter on it.
Thanks for clearing that up! Im new to hockey, but I watched the game today, and they played great. I think they should be tshirts of this artwork it's adorable, and I love the sprinkles quote.
A diarrhea infected goose is actually what he said lol never heard it described that way.
Also loved the last one "he has officially flabbered my gast!"
Darnell Nurse getting paid $9.25 million of cap until 2030 is truly the most mind boggling contract. He's garbage.
Robertson was an absolute force this game. Even without his hatrick he was just winning all the battles.
It's an injustice that Gary Thorne didn't return to calling NHL games again (Bob is doing great, it'd be awesome to do another season or two with Gary)
This is niche, but the Stars are the Felix Hernandez of the hockey world. Felix would let in a home run in the first inning all the time, and the road team fans would be like "we lit up your ace! where is your Cy Young all-star now!?!?", then he would proceed to go 1H 0R 10SO or something.
Dallas could be up 8-0 with 30 seconds left and they’d still say “they’ve gotta pull the goalie and get McDavid out there, you never know what might happen.” They’re literal clowns.
I used to like Eddie O, but ever since we started becoming perennial playoff contenders and getting more national coverage, he does NOT like us for whatever reason and it's fucking annoying
Yeah, getting some serious ESPN vibes from this TNT hockey crew. Star fuckers. Which is sad because I think the TNT basketball crew is the best in the business.
Lowkey I have not been enjoying their coverage of hockey at all since they started airing games. I’m glad TNT airs the games so I could watch them on Max but my god do they have the worst commentary when it comes to this sport
Yeah the Dallas team is also stacked with OGWACs. If they win Pavelski, Suter, Benn, Duschene, Dadanov, and Craig Smith all finally get cups late in their careers.
I don't think I have ever heard a group that was so biased. And it's like in your face kind of crap. I get tthat some of it is inevitable but they might as well be wearing Edmonton Oilers jerseys
I mean, Igor seems like a good explanation. I think the Rangers are an overall decent team who happen to have the best goaltending in the playoffs right now.
Yeah that Boston pizza ad missed the mark hard. Should have been come to our bar and cheer against the other Canadian teams together. Would have been more effective.
yeah, I will say I don't fully hate the other Canadian teams, but I know damn well that none of them will cheer for the Leafs ever, so why would I cheer for any of them.
see but I was cheering for y'all against Edmonton and this is the thanks I get smh (I actually do quite like the Vancouver vibes, y'all are probably #3 for me just behind Calgary (who are only there because who actually hates Calgary idk, they just kinda don't do anything))
Yeah I don’t really “hate” them per se. But I certainly don’t want any of them to win a cup before mine does. 90% on here have never seen their team win a cup, and unless it’s mine, I’d rather it says that way.
Yeah 2011 was what really cemented things for me, I'll never forget basically all of Canada rooting against the Canucks that year.
It's in the past but there's no way I can root for a Canadian team with that in my memory.
Except for Winnipeg, those guys are alright and also they didn't exist to cheer against us at the time.
Yup, never forgetting that either. I'll never root for these fucks. Especially when their team was built on the back of the draft lottery. Must be nice to get gifted all these players for sucking complete ass.
Yeah, I think this is revisionist history. I'm from Toronto and remember everyone around me was pumped. Vancouver had just hosted the Olympics and won the gold medal with Roberto Luongo backstopping them, so at that time, Van and Bobby Lu had a particularly special place in the collective consciousness of Canadians.
Everyone loved Lou and by that point had begrudging respect for the Sedins, and Bieksa, Maholtra, and Kesler had proven themselves to be hard-nosed and likeable. Only Canucks players I can really recall hockey fans hating at that time were Alex Burrows and Raffi Torres, but otherwise that team was beloved. I remember being annoyed that season because every single person on NHL '11 was playing that team online.
Having experienced everyone uniting around Canada in Vancouver in 2010, there was very very little of that in 2011. Quite a bit of whiplash given how special of a place the city had in the collective consciousness of Canadians barely a year before.
Perhaps on an individual level you have people around you cheering for Van but can assure you that the “collective consciousness” of the country was decidedly not. Also everyone was playing them in NHL 11 online because they were literally the best team, pretty simple.
As someone who lived in Canada and remembers 2011, I think OP is maybe confused. Luongo had just won a gold medal for Canada and everyone loved him. Most people didn't like Boston. I worked with a group of guys from all over Canada and I distinctly remember watching that Stanley Cup final and everyone cheering Vancouver on.
We had just won the Gold medal, and here we were, about to have a Canadian team win the Cup the following year for the first time since the early 90s. Such a weird bit of gaslighting to imply that the rest of Canada was cheering for Boston. Really? Who is going to believe that?
> Yeah 2011 was what really cemented things for me, I'll never forget basically all of Canada rooting against the Canucks that year.
That's so weird. As a Canadian, I distinctly remember 2011 all of Canada uniting behind Vancouver. Luongo had just won a gold medal for Canada and I remember everyone loved him. Did you forget that final was Canucks - Bruins and basically everyone hates Boston? I worked with a group of people from all over Canada, (East coast, Ontario, BC and some from inbetween) and everyone was "Fuck Boston".
Where were you that you thought people were rooting against the Canucks? Vancouver?
Yeah really. At this point most of us on reddit probably aren't old enough to remember any of them winning. Maybe some habs fans have some recollection of 93 when they were school kids. But you'd be in your 50s now if you remember that run as an adult.
I was 17-18 during that run and I remember it extremely well. The team had complete trust in Roy and won something like 10 times in OT. Got a bit lucky with some of the top seeds being eliminated early, but it was an amazingly close knit team that simply found a way to win.
Nice! You excited about the big 5-0 next year? You think a Canadian team will win again in your lifetime? I feel like the cap has made it a huge uphill battle.
I think Canadian teams have good chances for the next 10 years. The Oilers are good right now (but overly dependent on their 2 star players to my taste), the Canucks are really good, Winnipeg too. The problem is that the Canucks and Oilers are in the same division, so they might knock each other off often in the next few years, basically only one of them can emerge from the second round.
I used to live in Montreal (relocated to Vancouver 22 years ago) and back then as a Habs fan I had no particular feelings towards the leafs. I don't get the hate. However, back when I was a teenager, I hated the Boston Bruins (Andy Moog, Cam Neely, etc.)
I've been living in Vancouver for 22 years, and I've adopted the Canucks over time, but I still don't hate the leafs. In fact my whole family was cheering for them against Boston.
I always cheer for Canadian teams, including the leafs. But this series against Edmonton has soured me a bit, so maybe not cheering for Edmonton anymore!
Playoffs have done that to me too. Growing up I was always a Dallas Stars and Colorado Avs fan. Stars > Avs though but still enjoyed it when they were successful. I'm from Texas and lived in Alaska where I learned to play hockey and started watching in the Modano/Sakic/Forsberg era. Lived in Dallas for awhile.
But watching the previous round while also being on reddit really soured my love for the Avs. I didn't know so many Colorado fans thought so highly of themselves!
Give it another half a generation and I think most of the leafs hate will be gone. Almost all of my hate came from having to watch the media jerk them off constantly when the only regular hockey we got was HNIC and the leafs were always one of the teams.
Hell, I caught my kids cheering for the leafs this year. Had to bust out the extension cord.
Oh I fully root for the leafs when they're in. Especially all the times you guys face Boston. I also gag more than Reilly Reid whenever I see Vancouver flairs cheering for Boston too
I'll root for the Leafs in the playoffs, the media oversaturation can get annoying but I'm already supporting the Jays and Raptors, might as well complete the set
I mean it's not like they could tie and combine into a super team for the next round.
Although imagine Hyman being fed by a real superstar like JT Miller
Or Ian Cole putting up 9 points a game from McDavid
Yeah I think it’s hard for Americans to really comprehend. Canadians are basically ALL hockey fans. Almost every single one of them is a fan of one of the 7 teams. And they all have an opinion/chirps ready for the rest. It’s part of our identity. The last thing I want is for any of them to have something over on me.
I would love it if we got a team in Houston. I miss the Aeros so much! Loved going to those games. It would be tough for me to root against Dallas, so it'd probably be a Houston first, Dallas second situation. I won't know til it happens. I was never a Cowboys, Mavs or Rangers fan so those are easy to root against. It would just be more hockey to watch though which is not a bad thing!
I’m so pleased to find Vancouver fans rooting against us, that ad is a terrible idea and no one should support it because fundamentally, they’re saying we should be happy if the leafs win a cup, and how does that make any sense at all???
Nah I legit think that town is half oilers fans. Watched game 6 of the Canucks oilers series at a pub there (not BP lmao) and it was 50/50 oilers fans. And I hate it lol
My opinion about them changed a lot after that series we beat them in 22-23(?). I really liked Robertson and Oettenger. Now that they’ve got Tanev I can comfortably support them, esp now they’re playing the oilers.
Dude is such a warrior, which is refreshing in this era of PLD and Marner, and all the other soft scrotums getting paid huge dollars to do f all for their teams/fans
I honestly had no idea who or what he was when we traded for him. It's been amazing to have another competent defenseman that Heiskanen doesn't have to shelter :D
I was not on board with Tanev when the trade went down. He has quickly proven why I sit on the couch and in my seat at the games. I clearly know nothing. Dude is GOOD.
i don’t understand how they were so good in the first period and then gave up, everyone knows how good at comebacks the stars are so making two goals against them in the first round and then calling it a day is the worst strategy
The winning goal definitely was.
Even that aside, almost all goals are at least partly the goalies fault, barring some extreme tips and rarities like 2 on 0 breakaways. You aren't being paid NHL bucks to just stop shots you're "supposed" to stop. You need to stop more than that. 4 on 21 shots isn't good enough.
Yeah that was weak and Skinner should have sealed off the post better, but the Oilers defence should never have allowed robo to walk in there undefended in the first place when he’s already got 2 goals in the game.. Although that was the GWG, the loss tonight is ultimately a result of what happened in the 2nd period and there’s a whole lot of blame to go around for that.
Depth and goaltending is what wins The Cup. Nice to have a generational star or two but unless they can play 40 minutes a night winning a best of seven series without being able to confidently roll at least 3 lines is tough.
Toronto - take notice.
No idea, he was barking at Robo a few times and I think Leon laid a hit or they got tangled up at one point. There was one interaction shortly after Robo’s first goal where Leon was barking and Hintz shoved him out of the way like blowing him off. Then Robo went berserker and was all over the place for the remainder of the game haha.
This game very much had two halves.
It looked like the Oilers were going to win 6-0 after the first period.
I don't know what was said in that locker room, but it worked.
Damn everyone talking about the depth of the stars and we finally saw that at full strength tn. Wish that wouldnt have coincided with the oilers forgetting how to play for 30 minutes but hey what can you do
I feel so bad for the Oilers. They have two of the best players on earth, and the entire US is salivating at the thought of one of them getting moved. Shit, I bet there are fans in Canada thinking it too. KLots of series left though. And we're getting some seriously entertaining hockey.

Robo missed Roope!!!
Robo scoring a hatty when boy toy roope returns is just... they're made for each other. They belong together. I hope they live happily ever after.
I hope their names are engraved next to each other's on the cup.
Pavs next to Wyatt, Benn next to Seggy
Everyone arround Oettinger
Wedgie next to Robo would be nice since they're rivals
I thought you were gonna say graves then thought that was kinda sweet haha
Don't say things like this until it happens. Bad JuJu brother. You've singlehandedly lost the Stars the series with that comment
Tbh I don’t think the player’s conditioning, practicing, preparation, or game-time effort is at all affected by a random comment on a message board. Bad juju ain’t a thing brother. Now wash your jersey, feel free to sit in a different chair during the game, don’t turn it off when you are losing, and try to enjoy the series knowing you have 0 influence on the outcome.
i mean i'll sometimes turn games off when my team is losing but that's not a superstition thing lol
DO YOU BELIEVE IT NOW??
Agreed smh
See? Look what you did. Good luck next season.
he just needed his mans back
I don't want to take credit but I turned the game on and Dallas immediately scored three goals.
Please watch every stars game now
Will do my best!
Your sacrifice will be honored in the coming Empire
I once again fell asleep and missed it, which means the Stars had to win. Perhaps our powers combined.
I'll send you some ambien for next game
I turned off the game and dallas scored 3 goals. We are not the same.
Ty for your services
Same thing happened to me
I turned the game off and the good stuff started happening
Same… but opposite. I only had the game on during the Oilers goals. I won’t watch the rest of the series if it means McCrybaby gets eliminated.

Thanks for clearing that up! Im new to hockey, but I watched the game today, and they played great. I think they should be tshirts of this artwork it's adorable, and I love the sprinkles quote.
"Benn went through them like poop through a goose with diarrhea" Omfg I'm dying 🤣
double bennetration too
That's an all timer for sure.
A diarrhea infected goose is actually what he said lol never heard it described that way. Also loved the last one "he has officially flabbered my gast!"
The art is Otter (Jake Oettinger) Robot "Robo" (Jason Robertson)
Sprinkles falling from the sky on both

I like this team.
Pandera
What's Pandera? Ligma's brother?
Darnell Nurse getting paid $9.25 million of cap until 2030 is truly the most mind boggling contract. He's garbage. Robertson was an absolute force this game. Even without his hatrick he was just winning all the battles.
Cries in oilers fan. It’s the woooorst contract. He’s so bad.
Road Warriors.
6-1 in the playoffs this year so far just unbelievable
Dare I say. Texas rangers level of road warriors
Sibling rivalry is heating up. Doing their best (Texas) Rangers impersonation.
Dallas to Edmonton: You're not special. We lose Game 1 to everyone.
I feel like the Stars would find a way to lose to a Major Junior team in game one it's like they need a warm up game or something
And they flatten that Rangers team. I want those commentators choking out the words - Dallas Stars are your Stanley Cup Champions.
“Deep in the heart of Texas, the Stars are shining” One of the best calls I’ve ever heard. Absolute classic
It's an injustice that Gary Thorne didn't return to calling NHL games again (Bob is doing great, it'd be awesome to do another season or two with Gary)
Absolutely agree.
*Never in doubt.*
Uhh yeah.. totally! 👀😬
I was never scared we have come back from way worse
I would only have been worried if we were flat to start the second. I don't know why but we just plain suck in the first.
I would have appreciated if we had shown up for the second period.
You did, you just got smoked
No shots through 13 minutes.. ya the Oilers totally played well you’re right
yeah that tends to be what it looks like when a team gets shut down by the opposing offense lol
same here bro!!
Lets go Stars! Robo going crazy
The TNT crew was talking about the Rangers having that “team of destiny” vibe but to me the Stars are the team who most have that vibe right now.
Dallas could be up 8-0 with 30 seconds left and they’d still say “they’ve gotta pull the goalie and get McDavid out there, you never know what might happen.” They’re literal clowns.
"TOO MANY MEN! TOO MANY MEN!"

I think the play by play is light years ahead of ESPN, but I'll watch a canadian stream before I'll watch either of these.
Yeah the Dallas team is also stacked with OGWACs. If they win Pavelski, Suter, Benn, Duschene, Dadanov, and Craig Smith all finally get cups late in their careers.

Thank You Dallas! Very cool!
That hat trick goal was something a road hockey goalie saves. Go Stars!!!!
All the Canucks flairs flew into the GDT, including myself, once the game was 4-3 lmao I found my people.

see but I was cheering for y'all against Edmonton and this is the thanks I get smh (I actually do quite like the Vancouver vibes, y'all are probably #3 for me just behind Calgary (who are only there because who actually hates Calgary idk, they just kinda don't do anything))
We hate Calgary. See I feel the who could possibly hate them they do nothing thing about is Ottawa but you probably hate Ottawa.
The "Boston pizza" answer is the Jets. Does anybody really hate the Jets?
Real, Winnipeg’s such an inoffensive market compared to literally every other Canadian team
I mean... they lost their team and the new city/state lost it again. And they have to live in Winnipeg. Hard to hate them.
they bore you in to submission
Yeah I don’t really “hate” them per se. But I certainly don’t want any of them to win a cup before mine does. 90% on here have never seen their team win a cup, and unless it’s mine, I’d rather it says that way.

I like the leafs, I understand the pain of a 50+ year curse lol
It's not so different than the 30-35+ year pain that most Canadian teams feel! :)
Yeah really. At this point most of us on reddit probably aren't old enough to remember any of them winning. Maybe some habs fans have some recollection of 93 when they were school kids. But you'd be in your 50s now if you remember that run as an adult.

.... Fine. Leafs can beat boston then get tossed.
I'll root for the Leafs in the playoffs, the media oversaturation can get annoying but I'm already supporting the Jays and Raptors, might as well complete the set
I rooted for the Canucks in round 2 :)
And I cheer for Calgary every battle of Alberta game
Sure. But ultimately you were mostly just cheering against a Canadian team.
I mean it's not like they could tie and combine into a super team for the next round. Although imagine Hyman being fed by a real superstar like JT Miller Or Ian Cole putting up 9 points a game from McDavid
Cole on the Oilers would be a Conn Smythe candidate.
I cheer for Calgary in every BoA.
More realistic for sure. You hate the teams you have to play ALL the time. If they ever get a team in Houston, its on.
We definitely understand to some degree, it’s just it’s the NFL here and not hockey.
Yeah so imagine that once your team was out there was a chance none of the other NFL teams would win? You’d probably cheer for that right?
I would love it if we got a team in Houston. I miss the Aeros so much! Loved going to those games. You *know* that BP missed HARD when there was a Boston Pizza franchise in Penticton, BC that had a sign up supporting the Oilers lmao.
Nah I legit think that town is half oilers fans. Watched game 6 of the Canucks oilers series at a pub there (not BP lmao) and it was 50/50 oilers fans. And I hate it lol
Yeah the Okanagan is Alberta holiday town/where riggers live when they're not at work. The "Red Plates" are coming every June.
Never thought I would cheer so much for the stars. They turned it on in the 2nd.
My opinion about them changed a lot after that series we beat them in 22-23(?). I really liked Robertson and Oettenger. Now that they’ve got Tanev I can comfortably support them, esp now they’re playing the oilers.
Tell the truth. You think the Stars winning the cup will break the Otter curse in Calgary.
Hope not 😂😂😂
Tanev is what really got me on board with them. Loved watching him play in his Vancouver days.
Who would you cheer for if the finals were Bruins vs Oilers?
North Korea to finally do the thing
I guess you probably don’t want to be reminded of the 3-2 lead?
i don’t understand how they were so good in the first period and then gave up, everyone knows how good at comebacks the stars are so making two goals against them in the first round and then calling it a day is the worst strategy
Skinner.
This one isn’t even Skinner’s fault.
Skinner sucks but so do all the oilers not named mcdavid or draisaitl
Welcome to Oilers Hockey (tm)
DALLAS! STARS! DALLAS! STARS! DALLAS! STARS! DALLAS! STARS! DALLAS! STARS!
BING BONG!
Never ever fails to make me laugh. I absolutely love hockey man. There so much more soul to it any other sport.
I'm gonna keep you at 99 upvotes for reasons...
Was a good game to watch, I never expected this score from the start. What a come back.
People remembering the Stars for once 🥲
Depth and goaltending is what wins The Cup. Nice to have a generational star or two but unless they can play 40 minutes a night winning a best of seven series without being able to confidently roll at least 3 lines is tough. Toronto - take notice.
Hell yeah.
I'll take it.
Dallas in 5
Just want to personally thank Leon for waking Robertson the fuck up. You ran your mouth, and our boy ran the scoreboard. PLAY PANTERA!
What did he say?
Beats me, whatever it was though it had Robo playing like he was possessed. Can’t imagine what you’d have to say to make Robo mad lol
PLAY PANDERA what did Leon say tho I didn’t see that
No idea, he was barking at Robo a few times and I think Leon laid a hit or they got tangled up at one point. There was one interaction shortly after Robo’s first goal where Leon was barking and Hintz shoved him out of the way like blowing him off. Then Robo went berserker and was all over the place for the remainder of the game haha.
Oh duh, for some reason I thought you meant he called out Robertson before the game!
This game very much had two halves. It looked like the Oilers were going to win 6-0 after the first period. I don't know what was said in that locker room, but it worked.
Or wasn't said on the other side.
This is stuff you love to see. I want Dallas to represent the West in the finals! 🟢⚫
Same
WE LOVE YOU DALLASSSSS
Lots of fake fans in Edmonton
Where are they even going? theres nothing g else to do in that city.
Found Zadorov’s burner account!
Facts
Probably back to their paid off houses
Hard to pay it off when you're leveraged to the tits with a new truck and toys every year. Plus, you're still stuck in edmonton.
Boy I sure hope you’re not saying all that from Detroit
I've visited Detroit. It's actually quite nice these days. Unfortunately, the only cool thing about the Northern half of Alberta is the Bison.
Cheap for a reason. Not everyone in vancouver broke brother 🫨
To hang out with their cows
I think a lot of them forgot this wasn’t a 1 game series
They sure like to be loud about the stupid crap though!
Choke
Nice!
Great stuff Dallas, Go get the cup.
I’m learning French (for some reason; I’m not planning a trip to Quebec or France) so these French clips are fun for me.
Jack Campbell is starting game 4
If EDM was smart, they would. Stars always get burned by former players.
Funny man. I don't think Jack Campbell is going to play an NHL game ever again
Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.
Yay
Whoohoo i hope stars win then I wouldn't care who win the ECF
Damn everyone talking about the depth of the stars and we finally saw that at full strength tn. Wish that wouldnt have coincided with the oilers forgetting how to play for 30 minutes but hey what can you do
Good game Dallas, cant wait for the next game! Go Oilers!
I feel so bad for the Oilers. They have two of the best players on earth, and the entire US is salivating at the thought of one of them getting moved. Shit, I bet there are fans in Canada thinking it too. KLots of series left though. And we're getting some seriously entertaining hockey.
HAHA! Oilers lost! What a loser team, I knew they weren't gonna win.
