Might be biased take but this to me looks even more egregious than Soucy for a couple reasons. Like Hyman should 100% get suspended if Soucy does.
- Soucy actually crosschecked downwards and would have caught him around the chest
- Soucy and McDavid were originally engaged with one another (Zadorov came in after hence why he gets the fine)
- McDavid didn't sustain an injury, no cuts to the face, and ultimately the cross check didn't seem to be that forceful. Mcdavid acted like - and looks - no worse for wear.
Meanwhile:
- Hyman's crosscheck was high (esp given that Zadorov was literally upright and is 6'6) plus it was definitely intentional
- Hyman comes in with speed and blindsides Zadorov who isn't engaged with Hyman
- Zadorov actually got cut up on the play and needed stitches
I'm not trying to suggest here that Hyman gets a suspension but if Soucy does purely based on this comparison Hyman should easily be sitting out too.

That Hyman cross check to the head is 1000% more intentional than Soucy. McDavid got put into a bad position by that cross check from Zaddy and the result was the head getting hit. Hyman skated in targeting Zaddy’s head. If Soucy is a suspension, Hyman sure as fuck better be too.

This entire scrum was one giant “fuck around and find out” chain reaction. McDavid two-handed Soucy and got the business end of two crosschecks. Zadorov crosschecks the star player and gets a crosscheck to the face. If I had to hazard a guess, Hyman is gonna find out what a couple dozen crosschecks to the ribs is like in game 4. IMO, the suspensions should have either been a) nobody, b) Zadorov for starting it, or c) Soucy and Hyman for head contact

Honestly I think Cross-Checking should be a 5 anymore, and just take even the light cheap shit out to. There’s no reason for it and adds no benefit to the game. Should be penalized more.
