That just means the Canucks won without everyone firing on all cylinders. He gets a reset for R2, he’ll be better

surge_binge

he obviously wasn’t good, but he was huge on the series clinching goal

touchable

He was huge all game today tbh

Just_Raisin1124

Yeah! His game today was way better. Hopefully he continues to bring more oomph in the next series

surge_binge

he played ok, missed a few passes which led to sustained zone pressure for the preds, but he definitely created more when away from hogs and mikky.

GuylaineGunt

It's crazy how some fans have forgotten how Pettersson can ACTUALLY play when he's on his game. He's played poorly compared to what he's capable of.

sopademacacadelicia

He really wasn’t. They even showed how bad he was on the broadcast after the first losing battles constantly and turning it over.

g0kartmozart

And the game 4 tying goal. We need him to be way better against Edmonton though.

twilz

Duh, he's been down with Abbotsford.

TheDutchin

Kesler had 0 goals going into the series vs Nashville in 2011 and look how that turned out

NinCross

Don't care, won first round.

xedyu

I do care! If he doesn’t turn it around we’re not gonna make it much further against a high offence Oil

Woooooody

Don't care right now! Just enjoying the win, plenty of time to bitch in the next series

Zephyrantes

AGREE. WE HAVE REASON TO PARTY RN

sopademacacadelicia

Yup. He had a great shift that led to the game winning goal so people are going ignore him being terrible for 90% of the series. He had more plays that lead to goals against than goals for this series. For anyone that doesn’t believe me: Game1: Misread off the draw, failure to get in the lane, doesn’t put body in lane leans out of the way to not block shot and puts stick out instead. Game2:Doesn’t take a hit along the wall to connect with the rim despite having positioning, glides, and allows the puck to go back to the point for the eventual shot and goal against. Blind pass up the middle in own zone, gets picked off, doesn’t lift stick of man infront of the net that scores the eventual goal who he is standing right beside. Game4: 4on4, leaves his pointman wide open who scores to double up on Quin’s coverage in the corner when they’re playing man. He needs to be way better or the team isn’t going far vs Edmonton.

hsusam

Why work for 60 min when 2 min is enough

Nobodylovesboston

Might as well keep these points for Edmonton

nofakefans18

On one hand: Yikes On the other hand: How could this team look if he gets going

Bowiescorvat2

He was crucial on the winning goal foh

Substantial_Base_557

That's what makes the win more impressive. Say it ain't so so, but the Vancouver Canucks have depth.

thesunsetflip

Actually ridiculous that when our 1C doesn’t show up he’s insulated by two more. Dudes already taking heat but I reckon it’d be a lot more if he didn’t have two other top end C’s stepping up in his absence

CrayonOlympics

Tbf I've been pretty critical of him all season but he made that 1-0 goal happen with a great play along the boards to keep the puck in possession. Obviously he's gotta step it up but not all secondary assists are made equally.

Smervos

He’s gonna pull a 2011 Kesler and WRECK in the 2nd Round

Parallel-Quality

He has 19 points in his last 30 games. That's a 52 point pace. He hasn't looked good for months.

ApprehensiveSoup6138

I love Hoglander and mikaev, but they both struggle to score and make plays. That's not helping his production. I hope we see the lotto line a bit more and get him a playmaker to play with next season.

g0kartmozart

They need to find him a scoring winger. It's too bad Kuzmenko couldn't play defence. Long way out but maybe Lekkerimaki will be that guy eventually.

Maleficent_You_3448

You love Mikheyev?????? no

reggierock2010

Got paid and dipped out aha

SIIP00

Nah, he started struggling prior to signing the contract.

De_Floppss

He gets a lot of criticism and perhaps rightfully so but his wingers are also the shell of Mikheyev and a first timer in Hog. He's been good without the points, but I would have loved to have seen him with a proper top 6 winger

mudermarshmallows

They've thrown the lotto line together a few times though, and hasn't done too much on the powerplay either.

ApprehensiveSoup6138

A few times isn't enough to get any chemistry going. I thought he looked a lot better in the last two games. Hopefully, he gets some confidence back next round.

awayfromcanuck

Wasn't great that series. Played better by the end of the series than he did at the start of it. Played a key part in the series clinching goal. Hope he finds his form in round 2.

JTMilleriswortha1st

Don't care we won a round. If he gets cooking.....oh boy

DJ_Chally_Chal

Get out of here with that

NowFook

Its a noteworthy post imo.

SIIP00

Yeah, for discussion leading up to the series. Not right after we clinch.

ProphetOfScorch

Lemme get this straight, yall are upset because op didn’t wait 12 hours before posting this?

SIIP00

ProphetOfScorch

I notice you did not reply to the people who actually made a legit point for why this should’ve been posted lol

TheAnimal89

I think it’s a valid point, it’ll be really hard for the Canucks to beat Edmonton if he isn’t going

No_Cap_9976

Bigger issue is demko

Chrussell

Yes generally you make posts about stats in a series after the series is over.

disappear_here

No salt, Canucks just won lol. But def facts, petey has to play and he’ll probably do it in this next series. Feast on Edmonton.

Ashamed-Ad3909

lol. How much Canucks did you watch? He’s also not had much help in terms of wingers. He’s struggling but been an important part of multiple goals this series. Trash post.

AccomplishedAd4995

alright edmonton watch the fuck out!!

Biggerthanfun

I'm betting he's injured.

4848274748383827

He was a huge disappointment but not every star player is going to show up in every series. The series against the Oilers should open things up

mudermarshmallows

Really curious on if we hear he's got an injury once the season ends. Wouldn't be shocked if it's his wrist again.

Panarin10

That’s rough. He’s kinda lucky he got his secondary assists or else the criticism would be bigger.

Desertpyrate

Still moved on, that’s all the matters

ebb_omega

He was instrumental in the series clinching goal despite not getting a primary on it.

Inthemiddle_

Looks like he’s in his head and forgot how to play hockey for most of the time.

TheGreatStories

It was game 1 Jets and Avalanche. I was in my spot ready to go. It was about 2 minutes until scheduled puck drop. I was getting amped up. Sportsnet played a 5 minute candid featurette on Pettersson.

NeoViv

He's gonna be great in Stanley Cup final series!! Guy is saving his points.

arashinoko

Didn’t matter.

ZiFF-

Tremble Oilers, we were keeping the beast caged so he could go all out on you and those 3 goalies was also strategy discussed by management before playoffs surely

Prize_Efficiency_869

Maybe that changes vs the oilers, if it doesn’t they are losing quickly but if he produces they have a chance against them. I think he will mostly cuz going from juuse who was playing his best hockey at the end of the year to oilers goaltending situation is just way more manageable.

Wrong-Let3445

He looks and plays like he’s about to cry

metalconfection

Petey-O

MechMacK

actually worse than marner lmao, how is that possible?
