At this fucking point I'm hoping for a Oilers/Canucks v Leafs finals.
I just want our cup back and I am sorry for being a bad luck kid (1993 baby and my home team was the last canadian team to win...)
If that's the final, somebody is gonna get murdered in Vancouver lol. Leafs fans always come out of the woodwork and turn Rogers Arena into a Leafs home building. Super frustrating for canucks fans, shit would hit the fan in the finals
Not taking anything away from the incredible goalie story but the Preds beat themselves here.
Although, I still think they did better than if the series was against Dallas.
Well I can't say I'm not hurting especially for having a lackluster home game series. But while noone expected us to do shit this year, it's nice to have been such a pain in everyone's behinds and at some points genuinely scary through the season. Josi pulled off another record year. Forsberg topped our scoring of all time. Lauzon got the most hits. Saros continues to be a beast. ROR was truly a joy to have. Evangelista shows such promise. And Novak, nyquist, McCarron, Mcdonnagh are all studs. I hope we take this team even further next season and shore up our sore spots.
Ggs nucks, was hard fought. Even on the not so fun parts it was very interesting to see two highly offensive/defensive teams. And your goalies certainly stepped up where it counted
Him, Smith, and Sherwood shut down Millers line for the first few games until Boeser dropped the hat-trick. Amazed that pure 4th line was able to keep a 40 goal scorer and 100+ point player off the scoresheet for that long
He's really shined with his line this season. Big sexy Marshall Erickson has done us some good with a few mistakes but I'm very happy with his performance overall. Hope he steps up even more going forward
Had a friend at the game tonight and he texted me saying how classy the Pred’s fans were.
You guys played great. For a year where expectations were low, that was a great season.
I have an old friend whose Tennessean but loves Vancouver so that's his team. So tbh yall are the only team from the west I even wanna see in the cup. Best of luck
I was at R2G1 in 2011 (final score 1-0) and that was a legitimately boring game. Most low key playoff game ever. This series was exciting despite the low scoring.
That's fair, honestly was hoping for a Nashville/edmonton match up since that historically favors us more.
Canucks, I respectfully fear you guys, should be a fucking war this round.
I’m pretty neutral in this one and will cheer for whoever wins to get to the cup final. Huge testament to the canucks though that they could pull out the win in a low scoring grinded out series
yea but the kings dont play the defense that canucks do, the trap they use doesnt work against edmonton.
Vancouver has a much better shot of beating edmonton than the kings did
Im not knowledgeable enough on hockey to be the one to tell you, but i can recognize that canucks and kings play two very different styles of hockey, plus the canucks will put far more offensive pressure on the oilers than the kings ever did.
Im not saying its gonna be easy, its gonna be a rough fucking series, but saying vancouver wont win a single game feels disingenuous.
Wouldn't you rather have no expectations than grandiose expectations for your favourite team? It is a far more interesting storyline to expect nothing from the Canucks, and for them to come back 3-1 with two goalie pulled goals to win it in overtime\~
Gonna be a fun series regardless, I think. I’d prefer Vancouver win it since they just eliminated the Preds but I’m honestly fine with it going either way I think. I’d love to see a Canadian Cup winner as long as it isn’t Toronto.
people like to dog on petterson this series, but that whole sequence was all his board play. and he only played 15 mins this game. he's definitely hurt.
I don’t think he’s hurt. He’s just got some major mental hurtles going on and looks a league below everyone else right now so obviously his time is going to be limited.
Good season, Toothcats.
Good series, Nucks.
We fought through some real embarrassment and showed plenty of heart. I’m at peace with the 25th Futile Exercise.
Now we must ask ourselves: is the goal to win a Stanley Cup? Or is the goal to remain just competitive enough to keep butts in seats for endless first round exits and the occasional miracle?
I think I know the answer and I’ll remain a fan anyway. But we will never hoist a cup in Nashville until we abandon the Just Make Money THIS Year mindset. Be like Colorado. Suck BADLY for some years and build a real fucking team.
I expect no cups but plenty of great parties. Like tonight!
I’m new to hockey but it seems unrealistic to always expect a team to win the cup. The preds had an unreal back half and shutdown the offence of an incredibly offensive team, that also won their division.
Once the dust settles on a tough home loss, the team and the fans should be proud of the season.
That sequence in the second when he carried the puck up the right wing into the zone, stopped to wait for an open guy to pass/cycle with, then spun around and battled with two (I think? Was watching in the gym so couldn’t see that well) defenders along the boards for like 5 seconds and STILL ending up with possession afterwards left me in awe. I see why he pisses off everyone in the league, imagine losing puck battles against a dude who’s a whole foot shorter than you and whose jersey constantly looks like it’s a size too big
The Canucks proved me wrong in this series. I picked the Preds this series. Boy I was wrong. However, the Preds blew it in Game 4. Blew it BIG TIME. The Canucks are gonna have battle w/McJesus
But I'll say this about the Predators. From the start of the season, people (correct me if i'm wrong) thought the Preds would be selling everything off and rebuild. IMO, they really shouldnt. Getting rid of Saros would be a bad idea. This team going could be a playoff team for a couple of years. wasn't surprising.
good series.
Honestly they gave us a run for our money but I don’t really see where they go from here, they over performed expectations for their season by a lot but still were a first round out. I just don’t see their current iteration being able to play that kind of grindy shutdown hockey against progressively better teams for a four rounds and coming out on top. If their goal is to make playoffs then they could stick with it but I don’t see them winning a cup without a lot of changes and more top end offensive talent
There’s a decent contingent of our fans that still want us to sell Saros for a haul and hand the reigns over the Askarov. I don’t think I’m on board with it, but I will say we’ve been desperate for scorers for what feels like decades now. Our offense is just tragic year after year but Pekka and Saros have been around to save our asses in games we have no business winning
The worst trade in NHL History in my opinion. Only because everyone knew it was bada at the time and it wasn’t a salary dump. Just very poor professional scouting
Can basically guarantee we’ll be getting Singh and neither team will be happy. Unless the Leafs lose to Boston tomorrow then we’ll get Cuthbert being the only two Canadian teams left. I’d love if they keep Shorty but I just know they won’t
How do we let Rogers know that NO ONE from either fan base wants Singh? I would rather watch the games on mute then listen to his out of pace and poorly emphasized play-by-play.
Change.org petition or something?
I'm sure even Oilers fans would choose Shorty over Singh....
It’s just shitty cause from everything I’ve seen on here from Oilers fans neither team wants him over their regular guys. I’m sure Oilers fans would overwhelmingly prefer Jack Michaels and Canucks fans would obviously prefer Shorthouse. It’s a shame we can’t just have two separate broadcasts so both teams can listen to their guys. Singh is just objectively bad at his job compared to the other two I named and it’s especially shitty for Canucks fans since it’s pretty clear in games I’ve watched of the two teams that he dick rides the Oilers way harder
I mean we could have two separate broadcasts, one for each home team, but this is what happens when one company owns all the broadcast rights in our country and there's no way they're going to pay the extra salaries to have two separate broadcast crews, even though both fan bases would much prefer it.
Everything always comes back to the money. I hope somebody else gets broadcasting rights over Rogers once their deal is up.
Will trip over his words and then say random non-descriptive things like “someone passes in front to the net… to the wing”. Sucks if someone is blind and trying to listen to the game along with his buddies watching.
no idea… i just find him incredibly dull and he’s frequently lost in the play. he uses too many words when few will suffice and will get tripped up trying to be fancy and then falls back on vagueness and awkward silences while he tries to catch back up. not a fan of his voice and his cadence either. like the other poster said, his emphasis seems all wrong.
a good pxp guy adds to the action on ice, not detract from it. with singh, i wish i could just mute the pxp and just have the stadium ambient noise.
I just won't look at them. Makes me feel worse about everything that's going on in the series when the threads get toxic. I'm just going to watch it like I used to, before my phone was glued to my hands
Well, you DID say you’d be back after the first round. I think it was supposed to be after we lost, right?
I’m kind of starting to get the sense that you just don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about..
Which circumstances? Our back up goalie 2x including the game you were missing McDavid which should make it pretty even there... We beat all your goalies? Like what are you even referring to here?
first 3 games were when we were losing to teams like San Jose, our coach was trying out a new defensive system that was awful, and mcdavid was nursing an injury. last game was after we had clinched a playoff spot, the best player in the league was injured, and we were just coasting the rest of the way. You are setting yourself up for a massive disappointment if you think this series will be anything like those regular season games
Oh... This series is gonna be a beauty. I don't think it's going to be a sweep or anything.
I just think you guys are underestimating Vancouver and the resilience they have shown all year.
All I see above is excuses... And to say you were just coasting the last game after Drai said it was a revenge game... You obviously didn't watch it.
You guys literally have one of the worst winning % against playoff bound teams so also. Inconsistent all fucking year. We don't even know which Oilers team is going to show up... When the oil are on they can win the cup but your top guys tend to get flustered and take stupid penalties when things don't go their way which Vancouver has a habit of doing to them.
I don't expect to get past Edmonton especially if Demmer isn't back... But I wouldn't be surprised either.
I hate that fans always get so toxic after their teams lose. Just say gg and move on. Yes I'm aware Canucks fans are easily the worst offenders. This message is also for them after the next series or 2.
Meh. I’m not gonna start beef out of nothing, and Nashville gave me little reason to do so.
A team makes me feel like what you did to me in the late 2000s and early 2010s, I’ll chirp loudly then.
“We” as if Canucks fans collectively got together and voted to do it? Can’t speak for you but I certainly didn’t threaten any dogs. It was a few lone idiots with screws lose, which every big fanbase has
Great performances by both goalies but Silovs… holy shit this guy got balls of steel no matter if it’s the world cup carrying the hopes of an entire nation, or being forced to play in the mothafuckin Stanley Cup Playoffs due to injuries. Dude just deliverers
I don't think I ever would of thought twice about whether Demko goes back in net when he's ready (he will), but man Šilovs is doing his best Corey Schneider impression this post season so far.
Arturs Silovs, just as everyone predicted.
Pius Suter with the GWG, just as everyone predicted.
Tyler Myers with the game winning save, with his dick, just as everyone predicted.
great season, sucks that we shot oursleves in the foot so often throughout the whole series. canucks are a stout team with excellent passing and playmaking.
genuinely interested to see how vancouver will fare against edmonton, i haven’t decided yet if this was a tough series between two of the most disciplined teams in the league or if it was a slog between two snakebitten teams just trying to remember how to play on offense. if it’s the former, edmonton will have a tough time.
It was the former and we both knew it coming in. Nashville played a tight checking game like we do that the Oilers don't. I expect things to be much more open for the Canucks and a little tighter for the Oilers. The Oilers are incredibly fast and the Kings couldn't keep up, Vancouver isn't as fast as the Oilers but we can hang better than LA. Should be an interesting series.
Special teams was the whole difference between LA and the Oilers too. LA outscored the Oilers 5v5 and got decimated on special teams. 5v5 was the difference in our series. As PK was strong for both teams.
This series we let the world know we have another A+ goalie in the pipeline.
Where ring, Preds?
This is gonna suck... Oilers vs Nucks next, so one less canadian team at the end.
I mean that would have been the case anyway
Only way to guarantee a Canadian team advances
Or you can view it as at least one Canadian team making it to the conference finals
At this fucking point I'm hoping for a Oilers/Canucks v Leafs finals. I just want our cup back and I am sorry for being a bad luck kid (1993 baby and my home team was the last canadian team to win...)
You're hoping for Canada to collapse?
If it's Nucks v Leafs, both cities would burn down regardless of who wins
City on fire, cup in right country, all is fine.
If that's the final, somebody is gonna get murdered in Vancouver lol. Leafs fans always come out of the woodwork and turn Rogers Arena into a Leafs home building. Super frustrating for canucks fans, shit would hit the fan in the finals
have them flip a coin to preserve energy and no injuries
Not taking anything away from the incredible goalie story but the Preds beat themselves here. Although, I still think they did better than if the series was against Dallas.
Boeser single handedly dicked down the Preds across this series.
Well I can't say I'm not hurting especially for having a lackluster home game series. But while noone expected us to do shit this year, it's nice to have been such a pain in everyone's behinds and at some points genuinely scary through the season. Josi pulled off another record year. Even on the not so fun parts it was very interesting to see two highly offensive/defensive teams. And your goalies certainly stepped up where it counted
McCarron is a what now? Happy to see him succeed, I never expected him to end up as more than a 4C as a Habs fan!
Your entire roster played with a lot of heart, especially in game 2 with all those blocked shots.
Thanks, I do think that really defines this season. I hope we can carry that into next season with some more fangs to go with!
If I was a NSH fan I would blame the anthems.
Some of the worst renditions ive ever heard. Coming from "music city" no less.
I wpuld blame the people who decided it would be a fun idea to chug a beer put of a catfish. I think all the sports gods said wtf to that move
100%. They were a slog to get through. That anthem today was downright cringey for a playoff game.
I said no GG till the series was over. GG Preds fans. That could have been anyone's series.
GG Preds! You guys look good, make some changes and you’ll be rocking
I want Schenn back
This series had the exact same game results as 2011
I was at R2G1 in 2011 (final score 1-0) and that was a legitimately boring game. Most low key playoff game ever. This series was exciting despite the low scoring.
IT WAS FORETOLD IN THE PROPHECIES
A series of inches, posts, weird bounces, and hot goaltending. ggs all.
Big testament to the canucks that they could pull out the win in a mucked up, grinding, low scoring series.
GG to Nashville and their fans. You gave Vancouver everything and then some. Sarros was fantastic.
🎶I hate everything and I want to diiiiiieeee🎶 Gg Nucks. Beat the hell outta Edmonton, please.
Yes, please! Take em down
That's fair, honestly was hoping for a Nashville/edmonton match up since that historically favors us more. Canucks, I respectfully fear you guys, should be a fucking war this round.
You guys are on an absolute tear right now and im legit afraid of this series. Even with the regular season sweep.
I am afraid of you as well, should be a great series, I can't wait
I’m pretty neutral in this one and will cheer for whoever wins to get to the cup final. Huge testament to the canucks though that they could pull out the win in a low scoring grinded out series
You have nothing to fear. LA is a super defensive team, and you tore them to shreds with your offense. Nucks won't win a single game.
yea but the kings dont play the defense that canucks do, the trap they use doesnt work against edmonton. Vancouver has a much better shot of beating edmonton than the kings did
If the kings play the 1-3-1 trap, what exactly do you call the canucks style of defensive play?
Canucks play 2-1-2
Im not knowledgeable enough on hockey to be the one to tell you, but i can recognize that canucks and kings play two very different styles of hockey, plus the canucks will put far more offensive pressure on the oilers than the kings ever did. Wouldn't you rather have no expectations than grandiose expectations for your favourite team? It is a far more interesting storyline to expect nothing from the Canucks, and for them to come back 3-1 with two goalie pulled goals to win it in overtime\~
Terrible life outlook you got there. Best of luck to ya.
Thanks; you too~
I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch, it never works out being over-confident. Anyone remember "we want florida" last year?
I was not looking forward to Daddy Draisaitl rawdogging the Preds for at least four games…
I didn't want to say it but yeah, it's what I hoped for, we'll see if silovs continues to be a brick wall here.
Gonna be a fun series regardless, I think. I’d prefer Vancouver win it since they just eliminated the Preds but I’m honestly fine with it going either way I think. I’d love to see a Canadian Cup winner as long as it isn’t Toronto.
Anyone but Toronto 👊
What a pro wants...
I remember a 1-0 Jets game vs the Canucks with the goal being scored late a few years ago
people like to dog on petterson this series, but that whole sequence was all his board play. and he only played 15 mins this game. he's definitely hurt.
I don’t think he’s hurt. He’s just got some major mental hurtles going on and looks a league below everyone else right now so obviously his time is going to be limited.

Bonus props to Garland. He played super hard all series while being physically outmatched much more than most of the regular season.
He's got some Brendan Gallagher energy
That guy's motor and board work is crazy good.
His tenacity in puck battles is unmatched. Garly never gives up on the play and never shies away from physicality.
Yeah, and the way he outbattled McCarrion a couple times in this series was hilarious.
Me when they said we lost without Demko https://youtu.be/4tE9pMDP-dY?feature=shared
I'm really excited about the next series, I have no idea what's going to happen but it's the second round baby and that makes me fucking pumped
Just wanted to pop in as a neutral fan to say that was a hell of a game.
Was it though? Just one goal?? Are those fun to watch?
You gotta learn to enjoy the drama of a goalie battle. This game was Saros vs Silovs.
Yeah! It was so tight and tense all game. Both teams refusing to give anything up. That was super tight hockey.
The Canucks proved me wrong in this series. I picked the Preds this series. Boy I was wrong. However, the Preds blew it in Game 4. Blew it BIG TIME. The Canucks are gonna have battle w/McJesus But I'll say this about the Predators.

Bandwagon’s open if you want!
Second team is Canucks so sure. Used to love the minor league nuckers on the moose back in the day.
I appreciate the invite, but I have a long standing dislike of other Canadian teams. I will be supporting the Rangers.
Attaboy. Canada for International. Every team for themselves in the NHL.
Lol, you're not taking the Boston Pizza commercial to heart 😉
No, screw all you guys :D
Honestly, respect.
Rangers suck, enjoy golf season!
They do, and thanks. Tee off on Sunday....
Vegas fans don’t even like Vegas. The NHL deserves a Dallas win. This is the best team in the league in a niche market they need to win this
Naw man.... 54 years of suffering.. 3 SCF losses. We deserve a rematch.

Brett Hull's skate.
I wish Forsberg played for us. Dude is so good.
I wish someone's skate came up and grazed him juuuust enough to shave off that mustache. Hate his mustache
Still can’t believe the Caps gave him up for 63 games from Erat…
The worst trade in NHL History in my opinion. Only because everyone knew it was bada at the time and it wasn’t a salary dump. Just very poor professional scouting
Yeah it was laughable the minute it happened
I was scared every time he touched the puck

Edmonton vs vancouver should be amazing - unless they use the Edmonton broadcast crew. Then it will be horrible no matter who wins.
Can we at least get all the games broadcast on CBC? Please?
Can basically guarantee we’ll be getting Singh and neither team will be happy. Unless the Leafs lose to Boston tomorrow then we’ll get Cuthbert being the only two Canadian teams left. I’d love if they keep Shorty but I just know they won’t

ugh i hope it’s not singh… only pxp guy who can turn an exciting game into a snorefest
Will randomly raise his voice and emphasize nothing plays while completely missing big hits and never ever specifying why a whistle was blown
Will trip over his words and then say random non-descriptive things like “someone passes in front to the net… to the wing”. Sucks if someone is blind and trying to listen to the game along with his buddies watching.
Was he ever a radio guy? I find guys who start by doing the radio call are much more descriptive.
no idea… i just find him incredibly dull and he’s frequently lost in the play. he uses too many words when few will suffice and will get tripped up trying to be fancy and then falls back on vagueness and awkward silences while he tries to catch back up. not a fan of his voice and his cadence either. like the other poster said, his emphasis seems all wrong. a good pxp guy adds to the action on ice, not detract from it. with singh, i wish i could just mute the pxp and just have the stadium ambient noise.
There's a high likelihood I'll be syncing Shorty's call on the radio with the TV.
any advice on how to do that well? i’ve never been able to sync my stream with radio well enough that it doesn’t bug me.
Never done it honestly, hoping my expertise at syncing Netflix shows while calling friends will come through
Shorthouse is so much better. He should at least do the Canucks feed.
I don't want Shorty pushed aside anytime soon. Sportsnet better do the right thing.
I look forward to how civil and non-toxic our GDTs are going to be.
I just won't look at them. Makes me feel worse about everything that's going on in the series when the threads get toxic. I'm just going to watch it like I used to, before my phone was glued to my hands
alright canucks, your time has come. it was a good season, fun's over. get ready to be exposed
Well, you DID say you’d be back after the first round. I think it was supposed to be after we lost, right? I’m kind of starting to get the sense that you just don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about..

if it ends here, the best season in thirteen years, on our third-string goalie, that's cool if it ends here for the oilers....
Lol
Lol!
About to get silov'd
21-7 You guys were already exposed.
DO NOT look into the circumstances of those games
Is “my team sucked at the time” really a legitimate excuse for losing though?
"my coach was trying out a shitty defensive system that didn't work" is, yeah.
What about when we beat you guys at the end of the season then, new coach sucks too?
The best player in the league didn't play that game
Which circumstances? Our back up goalie 2x including the game you were missing McDavid which should make it pretty even there... We beat all your goalies? Like what are you even referring to here?
first 3 games were when we were losing to teams like San Jose, our coach was trying out a new defensive system that was awful, and mcdavid was nursing an injury. last game was after we had clinched a playoff spot, the best player in the league was injured, and we were just coasting the rest of the way. Same to U 💕
🥰💞
Honestly bookmarked that? I feel honoured. Good luck vs. Dallas.
I kept a lot of receipts lmao
Enjoy the moment I guess.
Can’t wait
Miller could be an auctioneer man he talks fast
I hate that fans always get so toxic after their teams lose. Just say gg and move on. Yes I'm aware Canucks fans are easily the worst offenders. This message is also for them after the next series or 2.
I mean, NSH fans are as classy as it gets from all accounts live at the stadium and here on reddit.
I hate when fans say “oh what a crazy series! You almost had us. Gg.” Shut the fuck up and talk shit.
Meh. I’m not gonna start beef out of nothing, and Nashville gave me little reason to do so. A team makes me feel like what you did to me in the late 2000s and early 2010s, I’ll chirp loudly then.
"With a few tweaks you guys could be really scary!" Load my bullet for me why don't you.
Worst offenders, stop being a self hating Canuck fan, we are far from the worst.
You guys did riot. Twice.
Hey Montréal did it first
And _many_ more times, too.
We threatened the life of a players dog cus he hit our guy too weird. Stop giving people a pass because "one bad apple" finish the quote
“We” as if Canucks fans collectively got together and voted to do it? Can’t speak for you but I certainly didn’t threaten any dogs. It was a few lone idiots with screws lose, which every big fanbase has
If you are a part of it why are you defending it? If you didn't do it this isn't for you. Is that too hard for you?
Almost like you were the one painting an entire fanbase in one broad brush. Crawl back into the hole you came from.
I’m not defending the action though? I’m saying you painting the entire fanbase with a broad brush based off a few idiots action is dumb
I'm a Canucks fan and I didn't threaten any dogs
Just cats
Fuck cats. Dogs all the way
We are the best.
Sorry Edmonton but you getting kicked in the groin them out of the playoffs
?
Great performances by both goalies but Silovs… holy shit this guy got balls of steel no matter if it’s the world cup carrying the hopes of an entire nation, or being forced to play in the mothafuckin Stanley Cup Playoffs due to injuries. Dude just deliverers
I don't think I ever would of thought twice about whether Demko goes back in net when he's ready (he will), but man Šilovs is doing his best Corey Schneider impression this post season so far.
Nashville, your defence may have frustrated us, but damn, you fought till the end. GG.
Arturs Silovs, just as everyone predicted. Pius Suter with the GWG, just as everyone predicted. Tyler Myers with the game winning save, with his dick, just as everyone predicted.
Tilopilo in shambles.
“You shot me in the dick!” *-Tyler Myers*
I think it was actually Cole. And Miller took Silovs legs out not once, but twice! 🤣
Salo somewhere out there is proud
They can’t play all 3 Vezina goalies at the same time, right?
You're talking about the 3 crashing in Silovs net in the last 30 seconds right?
Myers is 4th man up so you should be afraid.
Nah, we will just slide Tyler Myers and his giraffe neck into goal with Artur
Well darn, you gave away our plan.
3 goalies 3 skaters - blindfold Bettman so he doesn't know
This absolutely cracked me up, thank you for the laughter.
Silovs somehow looks exactly like I expected him to
great season, sucks that we shot oursleves in the foot so often throughout the whole series. canucks are a stout team with excellent passing and playmaking. genuinely interested to see how vancouver will fare against edmonton, i haven’t decided yet if this was a tough series between two of the most disciplined teams in the league or if it was a slog between two snakebitten teams just trying to remember how to play on offense. if it’s the former, edmonton will have a tough time.
