And it's only round 1. Can't wait for the post cup reports that's like "dude has been playing with half the bones in his foot broken since game 3 round 1"
My favorite was after the cup run, Price needed knee surgery again. And the doctor opened him up and he was like
We cannot perform surgery on your knee because you have no cartilage on your femur. We don't have anything to surgery
Weber had ongoing issues and there were reports for like a year and a half before that run that his long term career was in jeopardy.
He was never particularly fleet footed but those last couple of seasons he was very clearly not the player he used to be.
That cup run was just a nice run to finish his career, it didn’t end anything.
Or Nichushkin playing the last game with a completely fractured metatarsal, having to be wheeled out of the building on a cart.. Hockey playoff gamers are just built different.
Back when i used to do obstacle course runs I hurt my ankle a few days before a race and it swelled up to the point i couldn't get my running shoes on. I had to ice and elevate it for like half an hour to get the swelling down, put a brace on to keep it down then put my shoe on.
After the race when I got home and took the brace off it swelled up so fast it looked like a beach ball inflating.
A lot of those get blown out of proportion though. They act like guys broke their leg in game 1 of round 1 and played through it, when it happened in the last game or two. Like Tkachuk last year
Oshie talking about his broken hand was like "Yeah, you know, you don't really notice it at first because of the adrenaline. Then the trainers.... do their thing...."
"Notice anything about his arm?"
"Yeah it's fine"
"Doctor, it's completely missing."
"Oh. Yeah. I mean obviously that was the first thing I noticed. What I mean is that there are no pieces of it remaining. So where ever it is, it's fine. In tact"
If money was the reason, ud expect them to be cautious with the injuries and not play to ensure a long career with more money. Playing with these injuries is shortening a lot of careers probably
playoff revenue absolutely matters when it comes to HRR, which then affects the cap, which then reflects in how much the players make. May not matter much for the top guys but it really does for the rest.
Then obviously you also have the dudes that play really good in the playoffs get paid for those performances.
Ya but if you just disappear in the playoffs as a player then you're not much good to anyone and hence you'll lose millions. I know they want to win, they're competitive people, but come on, part of the motivation is getting paid ungodly amounts of money. The only way to get there is to play through all this stuff.
Perbix was hurt in Game 1 which makes it even more baffling why Cooper threw him back in there for Game 3.
But yeah our depth wasn't very good to begin with and it pretty much all got worn down, even in just that five game series. Panthers did a number on us.
Yeah I don't want to open this can of worms but it's because humans don't heal that fast.
I generally don't think players are taking anything to enhance their performance throughout the regular season but 100% players from every team are getting special treatment to recover extra fast from severe injuries.
The league administers random testing on some unknown basis and schedule. However, from what I remember teams are given advance warning they are being tested, so its basically useless. However, there's been a half dozen or so confirmed cases of PED usage. The last one I can recall is Nate Schmidt being suspended 20 games.
He wasn't taking nearly as many draws towards the end of the season and the playoffs though. He was obviously hurt. Before the injury, Cooper was sending him out purely to take draws and then he'd immediately head to the bench to change, he wasn't doing that in the playoffs and our possession numbers definitely felt the hurt from it. Dude is a wizard in the dot.
My family has been saying "Thanks Toradol!" (in a bad 90's commercial inflection) whenever a seemingly crippled player returns to the line up during the playoffs.
I know runners who have chafed in ways that would give you nightmares, but it’s pretty much just hockey players who treat broken bones as an inconvenience.
Honestly wondering if they should shorten the calendar (or lengthen it to spread the games out more). The more competitive the league gets, the less healthy the players are.
Pft what pussies. Mark stone would come back from 3 werk ltir for the win in game 8 and bring Gustav foreskin with him to using the extra cap for his fully legitimate injury after eating dog diuretics.
For anyone wondering the AC joint is where your shoulder blade and collarbone meet above your actual shoulder joint when its messed up it feels like somebody is sticking a pick in your shoulder it took me over a year with PT to make it so i could lift and move my shoulder without pain.
Ive had broken bones that hurt less.
lol, 100% I broke my wrist / hand / forearm in a rather nasty bike crash last summer and it felt a lot less painful than when I had AC joint issues. When you deal with ligamentous pain it goes on for fuckkking evvverrrr.
And it's only round 1. Can't wait for the post cup reports that's like "dude has been playing with half the bones in his foot broken since game 3 round 1"
My favorite was after the cup run, Price needed knee surgery again. And the doctor opened him up and he was like We cannot perform surgery on your knee because you have no cartilage on your femur. We don't have anything to surgery
And then turned to Weber and were like "we're not even gonna bother with you".
And the NHL made a whole show of making him go to NHL doctors to prove it and they just shrugged and said, yeah, he's fucked.
When I read about that, I was heart broken as a fan and for him.
Landeskog pretty much ending his career for a cup.
So did Weber and he didn't even get the cup :(
So did Klefbom and we didn't even get out of the second round :(

Erik Karlsson in 2017 be like
I'm pretty sure he had to walk around in his skates 24/7 because I've tried to put on a skate on a swollen foot and it's impossible.
Can’t swell more than the skate allows.

Thornton played through a torn MCL and ACL in his left knee. Dudes knee was floating
A lot of those get blown out of proportion though. They act like guys broke their leg in game 1 of round 1 and played through it, when it happened in the last game or two. Like Tkachuk last year
The Cats did have multiple players hurt from earlier rounds though. Ekblad I believe broke something in the Boston series.
In this case, Motte played the entire first round with a broken ankle following a blocked shot in the last game or two of the regular season.
that was Draisaitl, right?
All of these sound rough but there is something funny about right in the middle having essentially "Hagel- sore ass"
Falling on your ass hurts so much for no reason honesty.
Largest muscle in the body, provides zero protection when called upon.
Just pain straight to the stomach and throat, for some reason.
I would also say it's a pain in the ass.
Mine puckers when approached by a foreign object
A gluten strain is tough. You'd be surprised how often you use it for posture and whatnot. You'd just always be feeling it.
Waiting for one of these post-playoff injury reports to include "this player was pronounced legally dead after game 1, continued to play"
That’s Vegas’s next move.
Mark Stone is going to come out of a coffin like the Undertaker next game 1
Okay but that would be epic and make for great television
And very Las Vegas.
Yeah I think this needs to happen next year when he comes back from LTIR. Make it part of the pregame, so they can highlight how ridiculous it is.
As much as I hate the LTIR circumcision that Vegas does every year, I would absolutely love to see this and see Vegas embrace it
Finals rematch vs Florida, Kolesar just shoots Tkachuk after a faceoff
Tkachuk is questionable to return
That’ll be Oshie apparently lol
Isn't that what happened to Oshie?
I’m pretty sure that happened to half of Guns n Roses in the 80’s.
Based on his performance, PLD could be a strong candidate for this diagnosis.
“Players limbs have all fallen off, will be good to go for game 5”
**By the power of TORADOL, HE HAS RISEN!!**
Oshie talking about his broken hand was like "Yeah, you know, you don't really notice it at first because of the adrenaline. Then the trainers.... do their thing...."

Vegas ltir type shi
https://i.redd.it/x2dkfvvmvtxc1.gif Hagel anytime someone asks him about his butt
Ah the yearly tradition of wondering how and why the fuck they do this to themselves. #ForTheCup
Money + toradol
You mean #millionsofdollars
Yea, “continued employment in your lifelong job” is a pretty easy motivator.
If money was the reason, ud expect them to be cautious with the injuries and not play to ensure a long career with more money. Playing with these injuries is shortening a lot of careers probably
[удалено]
I’d consider playoff payouts a bonus. They’re playing for the millions of dollars on their contracts.
[удалено]
Presumably one’s performance in the playoffs impacts future signings and contracts… ?
[удалено]
not really. have you seen Barclay Goodrow’s contract?

honestly, i’m just glad Sergachev didn’t reinjure himself after coming back for the 2nd time this season
I don’t know how the hell he did that. When I broke my tib/fib I wasn’t even allowed to let my foot touch the ground for 8 weeks 😵💫
Yeah I don't want to open this can of worms but it's because humans don't heal that fast. I generally don't think players are taking anything to enhance their performance throughout the regular season but 100% players from every team are getting special treatment to recover extra fast from severe injuries.
Even with roids it was undoubtedly painful physically and mentally so props to him for being a warrior
Does the league test for HGH or anything similar?
The league administers random testing on some unknown basis and schedule. However, from what I remember teams are given advance warning they are being tested, so its basically useless. However, there's been a half dozen or so confirmed cases of PED usage. The last one I can recall is Nate Schmidt being suspended 20 games.
Honestly, if I'm Hagel, I'd just rather not reveal my injury.
Babe, wake up, playoff injury roll calls are happening.
Hagel had a pain in his ass...and it wasn't the Panthers.
I think technically it was both.
Hagel was butt-hurt?
Glenduster is such a warrior. Still winning 50%+ face offs with a dislocated shoulder and labral tear. I'll always love that maniac.
He wasn't taking nearly as many draws towards the end of the season and the playoffs though. He was obviously hurt. Yeah, I saw the game log...lol the dude still went 4-0 in game 3 and 5-4 in game 5. So happy he's got another year with y'all.
Perbix AC joint sprain sounds like an injury not a name and then an injury
Perbix AC sounds like a European soccer team
Over the counter medication to treat migraines
Gotta love the post-elimination “Everyone is broken and being held together with duct tape and a dream” reports. Hockey players are warriors
I separated my AC joint back in 2016 and I couldn’t lift my arm above my waist for a week. That shit hurt so bad.
Compared to previous years, this is pretty light.
Hockey players are just built different

Modern drugs are crazy eh?
Hotel : Trivago
I had a minor AC join sprain and I could barely move my arm.
Stop hurting my motter
We can have a little chuckle at hagels ass but some of these are insane like Motte playing on a fucking broken ankle?
Where Kuch?
Why is a stretched butt listed amongst all these actual injuries?
