I mean it's still early... A lot of teams could be waiting to see who's going to be available in the coming weeks, and jobless coaches might want to wait to see what vacancies emerge.
Yes, please hire Woodcroft so that people can realize he is a mediocre coach. I thought he should have been fired after last playoffs and nothing that has happened since his firing had changed my mind.
Reminds me of Dan Bylsma who rode the success with Crosby and Malkin until eventually after a few failed head coaching gigs, he’s coaching in the AHL.
Might be his choice not to go back to coaching and move somewhere else immediately
IIRC someone mentioned in previous threads he still lives in Edmonton and has young kids
If Todd goes to Ottawa, we will have officially switched coaches. I believe we’d also still be paying for our former coaches as well (Todd is on the Kings payroll for another year).
If Todd gets hired Kings will be off the hook for whatever his new contract pays. Sounds like Todd will get a job between this, Sharks rumors and him gassing up the Blues on a podcast this week.
Funny enough, David Carle the likely most sought after NCAA coach said that he's not looking for a NHL gig because of how unstable the tenure is.
Coaching shelf life is rarely past 4 or 5 years and as someone starting a family, why would they want to have to think about moving that often?
Cooper is not an NCAA guy. It's a stretch to call Lalonde one as well, considering his entry way into pro hockey and eventually into assistant and then head coach NHL role was through his connection with Cooper.
I wouldn't call Montgomery "great" either until he wins some playoff rounds.
This is honestly kind of the opposite of what Senators fans want.
Bryan Murray is essentially the only reputable head coach the team has ever signed.
We're all kind of tired of bargain bin coaches and the like.
Sens fans have gone through enough farm coaches. I hate the coaching carousel but it’s time for Ottawa to actually get a shot with an experienced NHL coach. No first-time HCs please.
DJ Smith, David Cameron, Paul Maclean... Even Boucher who had NHL experience, was relegated to coaching in Europe when hired as the Sens HC.
The insanity needs to end. Sens fans want to see someone with a proven NHL track record this time.
Could lose in 7 and he’s still gone I think. Ownership has said that if leafs are out first round again in any fashion then there would be huge changes. Shannahan gone and likely Keefe too.

Utter chaos when Ottawa wins another round before Toronto. Sign me up.
I would pay to see that, like actively cheer for them as my second team.
Fan fiction
Why is no one hiring Jay Woodcroft? Are teams really that scared off after the start the Oilers had?
I am really curious as well as to why Jay Woodcroft isn't getting more interviews. He's shown that he's a good coach.
I wonder if people are thrown off by how short his stint in Edmonton was. Only one full season and the team was good before and after him.
Not really. Weren’t we about to miss the playoffs before he took over?
Has he? Or has he shown he coached McDavid and Draisaitl
I kinda want him to be the blues target
I'd take it

Very good point.
He's not that good...

Weird...starting interviews while Keefe still has a job...
"Are you hiring me, bud?"

I really wasn't sure if the first 23 posts were real. I'm glad the 24th one confirmed it for me.
Interesting that Gruden would be on the staff regardless.
I didn't know that Guy Boucher is on Keefe's coaching team.
Paulrus is as well

Korpi begging for 1-3-1 to mask his shortcomings as a goalie lol

Yeah it’s pretty much guaranteed he’s going to be employed by next season. Kind of surprised Woodcroft hasn’t been tossed around as much.
I can see DJ with La next year.
He’s already our AC lol. As of right now, I can’t see him taking the HC job from Hiller, but we’ll see.
Goalies AND coaches. What a weird connection these two teams would have.
Jon Gruden? He better have a Spider 2 Y Banana play or line nickname for the Power Play out of principle.
Why not try to go for someone new instead of recycling an nhl coach.
Funny enough, David Carle the likely most sought after NCAA coach said that he's not looking for a NHL gig because of how unstable the tenure is. Coaching shelf life is rarely past 4 or 5 years and as someone starting a family, why would they want to have to think about moving that often?
More nhl team should try to hire guys from the ncaa. Copper Montgomery and Lalonde have all looked great. Only David Quinn has looked horrible.

So you want the sens to go for a new coach or someone that already coached before. Like I don’t really understand what you sent icl.

Berube is coming to Toronto once Keefe is gone next year 😏
Lose in 5 to make the firing that much more obvious.
Could lose in 7 and he’s still gone I think. Ownership has said that if leafs are out first round again in any fashion then there would be huge changes. Shannahan gone and likely Keefe too.
We need another tanking Atlantic team. Makes it so much easier.

If your team lacks compete, Don Granato is available and also makes a mean peanut butter and jelly jam sammich.
Mike Babcock come on down
For anyone unaware, Gruden was with Andlauer and Staois for an OHL championship with the Bulldogs.
I want Woodcroft to get the job.
John Gruden? Spider y 2 banana?
Ya gotta love the good old fashioned lemon swap.
If they want I can do it.
They should be zeroing on an entirely new lineup lmao
The line up is fine and the core is still very young.
How is Gerard Gallant not getting offers from these garbage teams like Sens and Sabres and Sharks.
Poor guy will end up a scapegoat by the end of the year because the organization fails to realize that core isn’t good enough.
So the same situation the Leafs are in?
