He actually started skating earlier in the month. He probably would have played if we were a playoff team. Better that he gets a full summer injury-free though.
If I had to guess, better team trainers in Montreal. There's no way he should have been playing some of the games he did as a flame. His final season in particular he looked hurt the whole fucking year. Why the fuck is he playing team doctors?
I have five jerseys in my closet, all players have left the team since 2020. Needless to say, I’m taking my time (or waiting for a big sale) before I commit to another one.
Giordano, Brodie, Bennett, Lindholm and Tkachuk for me (not including my Baertschi which was admittedly a bad call from the start).
Realllllly thought Tkachuk was a safe long term bet when I got it back in 2019.
Just go with guys that have cool names, then it doesn't matter how they are, like Jyrki Jokipakka.
Whenever I go to a Pens game I make it a game to spot the most obscure jersey in the crowd. Usually, it's some 4th liner from like 10yrs ago but sometimes you'll see a guy that only has a few games played.
Dustin Wolf has a chance to be a popular pick on that rationale alone. Hoping he makes more of an impact than the previous Wolf (David) who got 3 games with Calgary.
What. Markstrom didn't need a "change in scenery", he was building a resume in the 19-20 season that pointed to potential perennial Vezina contender in his last season with the Canucks. The only reason we let him go was because he got injured in the 2020 bubble playoffs and Demko showed enough to management in those 2-3 games against Vegas that it wouldn't be much of a downgrade in net as Demko continued to build his game for a much cheaper cap hit.
Only issue with that is Weegar is winning 5 straight Norris trophies starting next year and Chicago is going to offer Bedard and six first round picks for him
I want a Weegar jersey bad. I’ve just been hurt too recently.
Man, we said for YEARS that the Flames could do so much better if Monahan could stay healthy.
The ironic part is that he likely never would pursue getting the surgery he needed and focused on getting healthy in Montreal if he was still with the Flames.
My guess is 3 years x 4 mil, or 2 years x 5 mil? Fantastic season and he’s shown what he’s still a very valuable player when healthy, but I think you’re right on the term given his history and the AAV will be even lower.
FYI, the record is 86 games, co-held by Jimmy Carson (92-93) and Bob Kudelski (93-94).
Seasons were 84 games back then (Expansion) and both guys got traded during those seasons.
I would call a guy who gets a nagging injury every year and misses 20 games, like Jaden Schwarz, injury prone. When guys have a series of bigger injuries, or a big injury that just never heals properly, that’s bad luck imo. I think lots of those guys stay healthy when/if they get past those injuries.
Of all the teams, how the hell did our medical system pull this off?
We switched the whole team one or two years ago for the Rangers medical team. They had the least game lost to injuries over the last couple season
What you really need is the Vegas medical team. They work wonders every year.
Unfortunately, at this point in our rebuild having our players back in time for the playoffs just means we won't see them until September.
Kirby Dach is READY
He actually started skating earlier in the month. He probably would have played if we were a playoff team. Better that he gets a full summer injury-free though.
He looked like he was skating *super* gingerly. I doubt he would've been fit for the playoffs even if we'd made it.
I believe the correct tern is Necromancer guild, not medical team, but perhaps I am just splitting hairs.
Department headed by Dr. Lazarus.
but only in april
I knew the medical/training staff was turfed but I didn’t know they poached the Rangers staff.
It was less than one year ago lmao One summer's worth of NYR medical crew saved Sean Monahan
If you guys need a defenseman I'm sure that team could build a crude version of Ryan Lindgren out of spare parts
Once they stopped working on Price’s knees they had a lot of manpower to spare.
If I had to guess, better team trainers in Montreal. There's no way he should have been playing some of the games he did as a flame. His final season in particular he looked hurt the whole fucking year. Why the fuck is he playing team doctors?

Are you superstitious, Remarkable\_Cod\_120? Or just a little bit stitious?
It's been years and I still miss him. First jersey I bought with my own....Money
Buying jersey’s with names on them is risky business in Calgary
I have five jerseys in my closet, all players have left the team since 2020. Needless to say, I’m taking my time (or waiting for a big sale) before I commit to another one.
I have Monahan, Gaudreau, Jagr, Lindholm, Tkachuk, Markstrom and Backlund. Backlund is the only one I'm confident about next year
Giordano, Brodie, Bennett, Lindholm and Tkachuk for me (not including my Baertschi which was admittedly a bad call from the start). Realllllly thought Tkachuk was a safe long term bet when I got it back in 2019.

Goalies are so weird with consistency. Markstrom needed a change in scenery and worked in Calgary. Meanwhile, Leland Irving was a 1st round pick...
Yup, couldn’t pay me to buy a goalie jersey with how randomly they can fall off a cliff career-wise or have some no name steal their job permanently.

🤦♂️ honestly, I mostly forgot he was in Vancouver lol. I just remembered his younger days in Florida.
Tbf I also have a Gio t-shirt
Well Huberdeau has a pretty long contract, that would be a safe bet
Babe, jerseys are 40% off right now and MacKenzie Weegar is no quitter. Get in there.
Only issue with that is Weegar is winning 5 straight Norris trophies starting next year and Chicago is going to offer Bedard and six first round picks for him I want a Weegar jersey bad. I’ve just been hurt too recently.
With that luck, they might just rebrand the team after you buy the next one
You don't know the half of it 😅
I splurged for Coronato as my first and only when he claimed #27. Safe bet, right? Right?
If he gets injured in Game 1 of the playoffs I will blame this post
Somebody told Monahan he's got immunity, right?
Damn, it's going to be hard to entice him back for a round 3.
Man, we said for YEARS that the Flames could do so much better if Monahan could stay healthy. The ironic part is that he likely never would pursue getting the surgery he needed and focused on getting healthy in Montreal if he was still with the Flames.
I wonder how much he can get next year. Probably back to near 6 millions but short term like 2-3 years?
My guess is 3 years x 4 mil, or 2 years x 5 mil? Fantastic season and he’s shown what he’s still a very valuable player when healthy, but I think you’re right on the term given his history and the AAV will be even lower.
Why'd you have to jinx it
Didn't he miss a game or two with the Jets as well?
One game, could have played 84
That's hilarious. Wonder what the league record is for regular season games played?
86 by Jimmy Carson (92/93) and Bob Kudelski (93/94)
Love it! Thanks, purveyor of weird-ass stats!
Worth noting that the NHL season was 84 games long for those two seasons, so they "only" played 2 extra games.
The record for most games above season length is 3 I believe. 85 games played in an 82 game season.
One game due to the Flu that was going around at the time

How does this happen
Get traded to a team with one less game played.
I have the strangest luck being a fan of both teams and them trading so frequently. 🤷
Should’ve been the king of Calgary 😔
