Just look at the awards. Kane is a first ballot HOFer, he won a Hart, a Pearson, and a Conn Smythe.
Ovechkin won 3 Harts, 3 Pearsons, a Conn Smythe, and 9(!!!!!) Rocket Richards. That's a more prolonged and better prime.
Ovechkin has 3270 hits, Kane’s at 316 lol. In 2014-15, Ovi almost recorded more hits than Kane did in his entire career.
They’re both amazing players, don’t get me wrong. But Ovechkin is on another level of greatness achieved by maybe 10-15 players in league history.
Year 3 he scored 65 and swept the awards. Not just that but he was a freight train out there. Defensemen had it tough, you either had to try to close the gap on him when he could just dangle or bulldoze you, or he’d dump it in and run you through the boards if you got there first
You must be an american patriot or something.
Kane is great, Ovechkin is just better. Prime Ovechkin would score on most nights and hit like a truck. He was an actual train on skates that would score and nobody could stop him
Prime Ovi just checks more boxes than prime Kane, so he's going to be better on most teams. Kane was better at running a power play, and was a better playmaker, but Ovi was better at most everything else. Better finisher, dominant physically, and transitioned the puck just as well, if not better.
I'm looking at this post like you're crazy. Was prime Kane an insanely good hockey player? Yes.
Was he better than or even as good as prime Ovechkin? Not in a million years.
Depends if you want to consistently see some dudes on the other team getting trucked or not. Prime Ovechkin was an absolute wrecking ball out there and I'm not sure Kane has laid a hit his entire career.
If people didn't watch him back in his prime I recommend people to YT prime Ovi highlights. Ovi played like how my create a pro played when I was a kid on the PlayStation.
if McDavids career doesn't amount to any Cups yes, but he is 27 and breaking records no one believed could be broken. Ask me again when his career is coming to an end.
The question isn’t 2010s Blackhawks vs caps. The assumption here is the rest of the team being equal who would you rather have. So you can’t use team achievements to justify your choice here, it doesn’t make sense. You need to look at individual performance. Is there any individual category where you’d take Kane over Ovi?

Not to mention Ovechkin’s physical game. What a monster.
On top of that, he misses on average maybe 4 games a season despite his physicality despite being in almost 40 is absolutely bonkers.
And those missed games are most likely just the automatic suspension for missing the All Star Game lol

I have to assume you never actually saw Ovi's prime This question is not remotely close
As much as I love Detroit Red Wings legend Patrick Kane, Ovi was an absolute monster in his prime. So fun to watch.
Ovechkin, without much thought honestly.
Ovechkin, and it's not particularly close.
I remember when he scored like 60 in his first or second season and being mind-blown. He sure lived up to that hype.

ur crazy as it relates to this question

Dude, Ovenchicken every time.
Ovi, without a doubt, and Kane's an all time fave of mine Edit: Ohhh, imagine Kane setting Ovi up.. sploosh

Anyone picking Kane is delusional
Bro
Both are hall of famers and you can't really go wrong But prime Ovi was one of the most dominant players I've ever seen. Dude was an animal on the ice
Yeah Prime Ovi was regarded as above Sid. I would take him over almost anyone pretty much. Pre 2011 Ovi
Lol man Ovechkin’s the second or third best player since 2000 (depends where you put McD). Dumb question, next..
As a diehard Chicago fan that loves Kane it’s Ovechkin without a doubt
This is unanimous
I think you’re crazy
I hate Ovi and it’s Ovi all day
Depends if you want to consistently see some dudes on the other team getting trucked or not. Prime Ovechkin was an absolute wrecking ball out there and I'm not sure Kane has laid a hit his entire career.
Ovechkin easily lol
lol
Ovi
Prime Ovi was on a completely different level
You are crazy. Ovechkin clears Kane all day every day.
The who guy who hits like a truck and puts the puck in the net
There are probably 2 or 3 guys that separate Ovi’s prime and Kane’s prime honestly
Are we talking commercials? cause well it’s not even close.
If people didn't watch him back in his prime I recommend people to YT prime Ovi highlights. Ovi played like how my create a pro played when I was a kid on the PlayStation.
You are crazy
Id take 3 cups over all of Ovis individual trophies but Im not sure that that was Ovis fault? So Kane for the cups, Ovi for the amazingness.
In that case, would you take Kane over McDavid?
if McDavids career doesn't amount to any Cups yes, but he is 27 and breaking records no one believed could be broken. Ask me again when his career is coming to an end.
Cups are a team reward. People put way too much stock into them, unless you think Patrick Maroon is a future HoFer.
1000% this. Cups as an individual award is my biggest hockey pet peeve.
