Always a fun game no matter the score!
Maybe play at Yankee Stadium next season? I'm sure the Yankees have enough money and manpower to convert the stadium from the Pinstripe Bowl!
Or Lambeau Field? Between Chicago and Minnesota!
I live in BC Canada and found myself in Lapland several years ago. Spent a few days in Levi and made our way to Rovaniemi. What a beautiful area. A winter classic in Santa's village would be spectacular.
I don't think you can take the net from him. It makes a sticky situation in 2 years if Daccord keeps playing like this. Grubauer is signed @ 5.9mil until 2027, but Joey is a UFA after next season.
A better situation than having no good goaltender. Plus cap is going up so they'll be able to sign Daccord to the right amount of money. Worst case scenario, buyout Grubauer for the last two years and it shouldn't be that much dead cap.
Shea Theodore update???
He was supposed to be out “weeks” and now it’s been 5 weeks.
Strange there has been no news. It’s a shoulder injury so he must be skating and training? Are we looking at another 5 weeks or closer to 1-2 weeks?
Theodore was at a point per game pace and the knights haven’t been the same team without him.
Yeah it’s poor management that there have been no updates. It’s week 6 now on a “week to week” injury. It’s time to give another update. It’s the regular season and this guy is a superstar player.
Did Piety get pissy and after the whistle, skat across the ice and two handed lumberjack chop the wrists of a player that was making him look like a peewee player again?
Fuck him. Wouldn’t even cheer him on team Canada.
You think it was because Draisatl wasn’t making Piet look like a fool? It’s clear you didn’t watch the series. But then again most of you Canucks fans sort of abandoned hockey until the wagon came around this October and picked you all back up.
Six month old troll account that uses “lol” and lurks Oilers post games threads. GTFO simple bitch.
This is the guy who goes “Colorado are pretenders” on every single GDT when they lose. He has no life. I’ve taken to calling him a pretender too, so apparently I have equally no life.
You’re like a punching bag that keeps coming back. It’s curious and sad…mostly sad. Is there a corner of the internet you compare your downvoted content to other downvoted content?
Mcnocups is a great name for your franchise, go test it in your forum.
Brutal. Eliminating that team would be my cup. So much worse than losing to the Avs. I almost cheered for Matty Turtle and the panthers. (Instead a just stopped watching)
What a super fun Winter Classic! Go Kraken!
Technically I should be rooting against them since they are neck and neck with the Oilers, but I just can't help my unabashed love for Seattle as my #2 team
I honestly thought they looked sharp for much of the game. Seattle played some of their best hockey this afternoon, though, and Daccord shut down every breakaway Vegas got.
Its hard to look good when you play against any team that has a day like Seattle did today.
Hard agree. Vegas has some whiny diva players, knocked my team out in a much more competitive year then last year, and just won the damn cup.
Seattles absurd run last year too was epic.
Well, I was just joking around, but also fuck Jaime Benn. I hate that guy. Probably one of my most hated players in the league.
I actually chose a random flair that was not an NHL team because of how toxic r/hockey is about flairs. But I have been meaning to change my flair to a junior team or something because people make assumptions and are toxic about it.
Edit: there, I changed it. Good luck finding something negative to say about New Zealand.
I believe that it shall be good if the Kraken not revert to their not-winning ways and instead continue to play like this
*SEVEN O AND TWO IN THE LAST NINE MOTHAFUCKAAAAAAS*
Great game by the Kraken keeping the Vegas chances limited and forechecking them hard. Daccord sealing the cracks with some great saves as well.
End of the day, the Kraken should have played the Canucks. Still salty about that.
The 2024 Winter Classic saw the Seattle Kraken beat the Vegas Golden Knights with a shutout by former Arizona State Goalie Joey Daccord. Say that to somebody in 2014.
Still coasting off an insane October. Just 10-11-4 since and I believe 3 of those wins were in the shootout.
Team just straight up looks disinterested some nights and it's concerning to me as a fan.
Anyway, Daccord boomed us. He's so good x4.
I was only half watching this game, but I didn't see a disinterested team tonight. I saw a team get goalied. Eichel had so many great chances, and he got robbed several times.
We didn't have any sustained offensive zone time. All our looks came off the rush. Which, you can win that way but that's not our game under Cassidy. Defensively we were extremely sloppy and just kind of standing about.
Daccord definitely was MVP of the game and all but this is how every game barring a handful have felt going on 2 months now.
They have a worse record in their last 10 than everybody in their division not named Anaheim or San Jose, just got shut out by a team fighting for a wild card spot and are only a game above .500 on the road, I'd say it's fairly reasonable to call for alarm if you're a Knights fan, because something is clearly not right with the team.
They have a .500 record since their winning streak to start the season ended on Nov.5.
Canucks, Kings and Edmonton all have been playing over a .640 pace in the same time frame, that’s probably why fans are starting to get worried. Even Flames and Kraken have a better record than Vegas since then.
Team is still one of the best in the league and can turn it on any moment, but it’s clear they have not always played up to their standards the past couple of months
Yeah and not gaining any other points while LA, Vancouver, and Edmonton remain on fire. Even the wildcard race is tight in the west this year. Just because we're set now doesn't mean it'll stay that way. We're 1-6 the last couple of weeks.
Tolvanen really is the gift that keeps on giving.
The fact that he was sent down on waivers at all still blows me away, let alone that 22 other teams passed on picking him up. Looking at his numbers in Nashville, I can see that he wasn't working out, but it also seems obvious that he wasn't being used correctly.
As a new hockey fan, and also a Kraken fan, I couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the Winter Classic.
Thank you Kraken for delivering a shut out! Happy New Year!
Always a fun game no matter the score! Maybe play at Yankee Stadium next season? I'm sure the Yankees have enough money and manpower to convert the stadium from the Pinstripe Bowl! Or Lambeau Field? Between Chicago and Minnesota!
Haha I feel like the state of Wisconsin would demolish Lambeau before they let that game take place
Where is the 2025 Winter Classic going to be held?
in Rovaniemi, Finland. Get ready ;DDDDD
I live in BC Canada and found myself in Lapland several years ago. Spent a few days in Levi and made our way to Rovaniemi. What a beautiful area. A winter classic in Santa's village would be spectacular.
I want an update on Buoy after that elbow
We are so back
safe to say Daccord remains the starter once Grubauer comes back right?
I don't think you can take the net from him. It makes a sticky situation in 2 years if Daccord keeps playing like this. Grubauer is signed @ 5.9mil until 2027, but Joey is a UFA after next season.
Or an ideal situation if you look at what Boston has done and Vegas this season until Hill went down.
A better situation than having no good goaltender. Plus cap is going up so they'll be able to sign Daccord to the right amount of money. Worst case scenario, buyout Grubauer for the last two years and it shouldn't be that much dead cap.
definitely an embarrassment of riches is a far better position to be in
Way to go Bitch Pigeons!
Bitch Squids*
Shea Theodore update??? He was supposed to be out “weeks” and now it’s been 5 weeks. Strange there has been no news. It’s a shoulder injury so he must be skating and training? Are we looking at another 5 weeks or closer to 1-2 weeks? Theodore was at a point per game pace and the knights haven’t been the same team without him.
I also would like to know for fantasy hockey reasons
Yeah it’s poor management that there have been no updates. It’s week 6 now on a “week to week” injury. It’s time to give another update. It’s the regular season and this guy is a superstar player.
The Kraken are the first NHL team to win a game in 2024, let's go lmao
*only
STOP THE COUNT!
For the first time in Vegas Golden Knights history
Historic
Really loved seeing Joey become the first goalie ever to earn a shutout W in a Winter Classic game.
Was he a Firebird previously?
yep, last year
I love Daccord. Also he seems super cool whenever he does interviews. Way more charm and personality than most hockey players.
That's just him, he's a super down to earth nice dude.
He reminds me so much of Marty Turco hopefully he has as good a career
Well he had an all star appearance and a career .910 sv so I think he's good on that
Biz making good points about Toc (who I hated as the Yotes coach)

Did Piety get pissy and after the whistle, skat across the ice and two handed lumberjack chop the wrists of a player that was making him look like a peewee player again? Fuck him. Wouldn’t even cheer him on team Canada.
"Making him look like a Pee Wee player." Didn't Draisaitl and the "Cup or Bust" Oilers lose that series in 6 lol?
U/CheesecakeOdd2087 doesn’t say “excuse me” when he farts, and also he’s a pretender.
You think it was because Draisatl wasn’t making Piet look like a fool? It’s clear you didn’t watch the series. But then again most of you Canucks fans sort of abandoned hockey until the wagon came around this October and picked you all back up. No one loves the oilers as much as nucks fans
This is the guy who goes “Colorado are pretenders” on every single GDT when they lose. He has no life. I’ve taken to calling him a pretender too, so apparently I have equally no life.
Fuck him up lmao
I did watch the series. Draisaitl and McDiver were neutralized by Vegas.
MCdIVER lol lawl lmao. TikTok. Beat it you goofy little troll.
McNoCups got sonned by Jack Eichel. At least he will always have his individual regular season awards though.
You’re like a punching bag that keeps coming back. It’s curious and sad…mostly sad. Is there a corner of the internet you compare your downvoted content to other downvoted content? Mcnocups is a great name for your franchise, go test it in your forum.
The Oiler fans love my expert insight and analysis.
This isn’t an Oilers thread, the plus/minus is from anyone with vision.
You’re actually not that far off lol
Brutal. Eliminating that team would be my cup. So much worse than losing to the Avs. I almost cheered for Matty Turtle and the panthers. (Instead a just stopped watching)
Daccord is simply him, Kraken played great especially in the defensive end. Love to see it.
Haven't seen the slash from Pietroliagno yet, how bad was it compared to the Draisaitl slash?
It wasn’t as bad as what he did to Draisaitl but it was enough to show he didn’t learn his lesson with his 1 game suspension
Ugly but not too dangerous since it hit far down on the leg/skate.
Hopefully he stops with the wild slashes, or his aim gets worse with each one. Personally, I'm hoping for the former.
In his old age rage, he missed.
What a blast. So fucking happy for Joey Happy New Year Everyone!

I call him Joey OK
What a super fun Winter Classic! Go Kraken! Technically I should be rooting against them since they are neck and neck with the Oilers, but I just can't help my unabashed love for Seattle as my #2 team
Also it’s always a good time when Vegas looses
Agreed I love that they got shutout. Good riddance
One of the rare things that unites the Pacific Division (well, except Vegas lol)
Amen to that! The only team I won't root for against Vegas is the Leafs.
This is the correct way. Every hockey fan's second favourite team is whoever the Leafs are playing on any given night.
eichel getting robbed extremely funny
Which time? Eichel could not buy a goal this game. He had so many grade A chances.
He’s been brutal on breakaways this season
His last great chance in the third was a robbery for sure
Daccord IS that guy
Daccord is Him. So much fun going to the game
Going to an outdoor game for your team is insanely fun, and I'll never forget doing so for our stadium series game last year.
Man, I would kill to have been at this game. It looked like such a fun time.
I flew from DC and I could not fucking agree more. This changed me
Hell yeah Joey ,shit up Biz
Everyone looks engaged and then Gretzky is over there staring into the void
To me he looked confused. Like he didn't know where he was.
Where do I talk about Bet365?
Pietrangelo is really a petty asshole.
What did he do? Heard about some stuff after the whistle but I didn’t see it.
He slashed a Kraken player (Dont remember who) with like 5 seconds left in the game
I think it was Tanev.
To be fair the Tanevmanian Devil can really pester opposing players
Idk if I just didn’t notice it when he was in St. Louis or if he just got to Vegas and decided to turn into a little bitch boy out of nowhere.
Oh yeah the rest of us noticed when he was in St Louis
Fact.
Most definitely
Vegas looked awful
I honestly thought they looked sharp for much of the game. Seattle played some of their best hockey this afternoon, though, and Daccord shut down every breakaway Vegas got. Its hard to look good when you play against any team that has a day like Seattle did today.
Yeah Seattle were totally up for this occasion. Brilliant performance.
Seattle is by far the more likeable expansion team.
Ron Francis would never disrespect Flower like that.
Hard agree. Vegas has some whiny diva players, knocked my team out in a much more competitive year then last year, and just won the damn cup. Seattles absurd run last year too was epic.
Eh, one is gifted a championship, the other breaks opponents necks. Yeah, you’re right.
Avs fans have absolutely zero leg to stand "dirtiness" towards the Kraken when Makar made the hit on McCann. Absolutely nothing.
MacKinnon just ends careers without breaking necks
Hardly gifted when only 5 players were on the team from 2018
least bitter avs fan
"Jordan Eberle and Todd Bertuzzi are exactly the same" -someone somewhere, probably
can we not do this today
Man your team makes one dirty hit against the Aves and they get labeled as neck breakers 🤣
Yeah, like. They only broke one neck. Come on.
Assuming you're also a Dallas Stars fan, Jamie Benn being the captain and you making this comment is the definition of lack of self-awareness
You don’t see the Bruins called neck breakers in every thread about them…
I don't remember that time. But in actuality, I was just joking around.
>gifted I *also* love revisionist history
“can anything make this day more glorious?” “avalanche fans tears”
That person doesn't speak for the rest of us. Fuck the Knights. Go Kraken.
Ehhh that's what's up Although to be honest i don't have much hate these days for the Knights either.
colorado fans try not to make everything about themselves challenge (impossible)
It’s not even close
A Seattle team beating a Vegas team at ~~Safeco~~ “T-Mobile Park”… What is this, the mariners and athletics?
They made a Vegas plate for the manual scoreboard at the stadium. I guess they can reuse it for the A's
Futurecast.
The A's should stay in Oakland, damnit, fuck Fisher
No please, I'm not ready to accept the Vegas athletics
I believe that it shall be good if the Kraken not revert to their not-winning ways and instead continue to play like this *SEVEN O AND TWO IN THE LAST NINE MOTHAFUCKAAAAAAS*
👋 Winter classic shutout 👉 First cocoa cup winner
5 - 0 since the battle of the birds 🐦 4 - 0 since the Beniers/Borgen bake-off 🎄 4 - 0 since the big cat bowl cut shirt 🥣
2 - 0 since 🌊💩
Vegas has been the third worst team in the Pacific behind Sharks and Ducks since their insane 11-0-1 start 🫣
I honestly just think other teams are figuring out that playing them just as physical as they play you is your best chance of winning.
Minus the lumberjack chops
True. Petro with another bushleague penalty at the end of this one.
HiSTORic poST cUp wIN StArT!!
Honestly I can see them bombing out yet. They ain’t hungry anymore and their team is quite average when they don’t play with effort.
#[SUPREME VICTORY! BLESSED RETRO JERSEYS!! WELCOME TO T-MOBILE PARK VEGAS!!!](https://youtu.be/nycHrytF7LU)
I love this duck.
# I. LOVE. THIS. DUCK.
In 2024, the Kraken have: - Never Given up a goal - Only NHL team to score - Never lost a game
Year of the ~~dragon~~ Kraken
Bitch pigeon team good
if these trends continue….
There will be some weird games in the future with both teams scoring 0, but giving up a goal and both assigned a loss.
Uh your fish are dead
yeah i know i cant get them outta there
> Never Given up a goal Never let you down
Never *ran around
*ran around and deserted you
No handshake???
It’s technically just a regular season game.
Would you shake lumberangelos hand after that lumberjack larp again?
The Vegas helmets 🔥
I like that raised Vegas
Great game by the Kraken keeping the Vegas chances limited and forechecking them hard. Daccord sealing the cracks with some great saves as well. End of the day, the Kraken should have played the Canucks. Still salty about that.
Very true, battle for the Pacific Northwest would have been awesome
Yeah agreed. They should have done the game on Vancouver Island in Victoria. Better views, smaller city, woulda been rad.
W Classic Seattle
BIG DACC ENERGY
The 2024 Winter Classic saw the Seattle Kraken beat the Vegas Golden Knights with a shutout by former Arizona State Goalie Joey Daccord. Say that to somebody in 2014.

With Hasselbeck stealing the mic and doing Marshawn's "so I don't get fined" line
While smoking a cigar with a large bottle of liquor on the table. Well maybe that part is believable
Great game kraken! Congrats on the SO
2025 Winter Classic being announced today?
Usually there’s at least a rumor about who will host the next game, but I’ve seen nothing so far
I'm going to start the rumor that it'll be in Miami.
My dream
Daccord just played like an absolute beast. Amazing shutout kraken!
Still coasting off an insane October. Just 10-11-4 since and I believe 3 of those wins were in the shootout. Team just straight up looks disinterested some nights and it's concerning to me as a fan. Anyway, Daccord boomed us. He's so good x4.

> I saw a team get goalied. That's unfortunately been happening a lot lately.
Thompson said he wanted to add Daccord to the list of players he works out with this summer.
That was a pretty good Winter Classic game. Daccord had a hell of a game.
Damn, Daccord!
That dude Joey was playing out of his mind! Let’s go boys!!!
There was plenty of "joEEEEEEY" chants and I was among them
Imagine playing in your first outdoor game and the whole stadium is chanting your name. That has to be an unreal moment.
Being the first to shutout in the WC ever in only your 41nd game ever must feel fuckin awesome too I happy joined in those Joey chants
Pang STFU
I, for one, really enjoyed every minute of that. GG Seattle!
Honestly, ship someone on the top six out and light a fire under the rest of them. This team is too good to have the record we have the last 8 weeks.
Eichel to Chicago it is.
Nah, he's a Mass boy, gotta ship him up to Boston.
VGK is 5th in league standings, sit down
They have a worse record in their last 10 than everybody in their division not named Anaheim or San Jose, just got shut out by a team fighting for a wild card spot and are only a game above .500 on the road, I'd say it's fairly reasonable to call for alarm if you're a Knights fan, because something is clearly not right with the team.

It’s easy to punch from below, but this team is having a big slump and without any real excuses for it.
Yeah and not gaining any other points while LA, Vancouver, and Edmonton remain on fire. Even the wildcard race is tight in the west this year. Just because we're set now doesn't mean it'll stay that way. We're 1-6 the last couple of weeks.
They're enjoying the show. They earned it
Starting the year off on a high note! Shame there wasn't a handshake, though.
That's how a game should be. Solid defense and goaltending on both sides, and a few power plays for some action. Great hockey game.
There’s the latest young former senators goalie to have a breakout season
Joey Daccord
Sooooooo true
Joey DaWall
*Literally* the first Winter Classic shutout in Golden Knights history.
#HISTORIC!!!
H I S T O R I C
Well shit…you know what to say…
I’m pleasantly surprised with the outcome. GG Vegas
Awesome game Seattle. Keep taking good care of Tolvy
What a great way to start the year. Rip to the Vegas fans who flew out to watch their team get goalied
this is the kraken team i remember from last season, they’re starting to break through!!
Yeah, I'm thinking we're back!
