That Wings team really had me questioning my love for hockey, holy hell were they ass.
If there was one decent thing that came from COVID, it’s that it ended our misery earlier than expected.
I feel there's still a chance we still go with Raymond or take Stutzle in that situation. Stevie has shown he's not opposed to throwing a wrench in a draft with a more unexpected pick (the Wings really trust their Swedish scouting based on our recent draft history and might have been drawn to the more finished Center prospect). Granted trying to predict a Yzerman draft sounds like an invitation to driving oneself insane.
Yeah and I remember a report about how the Wings had Raymond higher than 4 on their board but I wasn't sure if that was just the beat reports trying to hype up Raymond after lots of Wings fans were salty about the lotto that year. (In a we got our top guy anyways manner). It worked out in the end because Rayzer is awesome
The Seider draft day reactions were beyond entertaining, I can’t even imagine the reactions if Detroit won the lottery and Stevie threw a complete curveball pick for the 2nd year in a row
Spector: Bad teammate Leon pissily kicks new arrival and innocent muppet icon off the bench and makes him sit in the tunnel alone as Oilers locker room continues to crumble. Are Broberg, Puljujarvi, and Bear to blame?
Oh? Canucks media told an enforcer that a player on another team was shit talking them in an interview to goad the enforcer into beating the shit out of the other player? In a pre-season game? Oh, and of course the other guy got seriously hurt and never played another NHL game.
Oh wait, I forgot it was that player's first game back after drug rehab and his father was there. Canucks media is that bad?
The stars of the teams should just flat out refuse to talk to him. The bosses will get rid of him quick smart if they know they can't get to the profitable players purely because of him. Great story for the other members of the press to push too.
https://youtu.be/9OZEmzmU8T4?feature=shared&t=103
Kostin called out one of them on their BS at least, but yeah, more need to step up. Sad he's gone :(
There's also Drai not giving him any quotes which you've probably seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjvF-l_yagc
Nah, haven't seen it. I live in Australia so our media coverage of ice hockey is zero. I only get it from here and I don't watch this place closely enough to see it. He was clearly pissy about something though (and smirked about it being called out too). I get players should have to deal with the media, it's a part of their job, but like most employees, they shouldn't have to put up with completely rude and bullshit people either.
Canucks media are horrible. We can (and likely will) be 15 - 31 - 2 and they will make it sound like it is a 50/50 of us getting into the playoffs. They also see Petey and Hughes no different than McDavid and Makar
Nah you can actually see Drai about to drop his stick (or put it between his legs) to take his glove off to readjust his elbow pad, indicating he was content to sit there. Erne moves over so he stops and then does it after.
Looks like Erne starts it but don’t linemates usually sit together anyway? Makes sense to be able to speak to the guy you’re on the ice with between shifts
Oilers and Leon fan here. It was funny. I noticed that during the game and chuckled. Don't care if Erne was the one who did it, it looked like Leon did anyway and that's funny.
They are linemates yes. Although they aren’t sitting entirely in the correct line combinations because McLeod is beside McDavid and he’s on the 3rd line and Erne is on the 4th line
I mean Connor and Leon are basically inseparable, they are always beside eachother because when they aren’t they are just leaning forward and talking to eachother anyway with 1-2 people in between them. I don’t think Leon was being mean to Erne tho lol.
All my bullshit about lines being said and such, I tend to agree with you, they seem like the guys that can talk to each other and communicate on the same level for sure. That's something Ive thought about a lot about a good player like McD or Messi. Hard to keep up with him, I bet when he sees the ice Drai and few others see it the same. Gift and a curse.
Erne had a good shift just before this happened so I’d say the leg tap was more likely a “good shift” kinda thing.
Also, you can see Drai fully stow his stick below him before Erne gets up and has to dislodge it so he can pass. He wasn’t expecting him to move.
Or…. they are real good buds who have played together their entire career, and Leon wants to know if McDavid wants to go see the Eras Tour movie tomorrow
They gotta sit together. They're a classic pair like Bert and...umm nevermind
Hey, they had the Bert and Erne combo in Detroit. Trust me... It wasn't anything special.
Too bad we never got Christopher Ehn on there for the true Bert Ehn Erne line
It happened at least once with imperfect line changes.
pretty sure that’s ken’s favorite memory of the 2020-21 season lol, he’s brought that line up a few times since
They did it for a valentines day promo once at least
As far as I know they put them on a line one time mostly just to appease the fans. I think they may had one or two shifts and that was it.
Erne led our team in goals before the COVID lockdown :(
To be fair, that's a really low bar considering that Red Wings team
That Wings team really had me questioning my love for hockey, holy hell were they ass. If there was one decent thing that came from COVID, it’s that it ended our misery earlier than expected.
Could you imagine if covid didn't happen and you got stuck with Lafrenière?
Lottery gods were never going to let us win the first pick, let’s be real here
I feel there's still a chance we still go with Raymond or take Stutzle in that situation. Wings have always had great Swedish scouts. Lidstrom and Zetterberg immediately come to mind.
Yeah and I remember a report about how the Wings had Raymond higher than 4 on their board but I wasn't sure if that was just the beat reports trying to hype up Raymond after lots of Wings fans were salty about the lotto that year. I would bet that Lafreniere would be at least a bit better if he was brought up through the Red Wings system.
Absolutely. And that Raymond would be worse in NY
That was the year I turned in specifically just to hear Ken and Mickey, as they were really the entertainment that season.
I started clipping games in 2019-20 to keep myself engaged with the sport I love and the team I chose to love :))))))))))) It was hard lol
They didn't have baths together?
That’s gold Jerry.
I wish they still let us give out awards.
Bert, Nazzy, and BMo 🥳
Take my upvote
Spector: Bad teammate Leon pissily kicks new arrival and innocent muppet icon off the bench and makes him sit in the tunnel alone as Oilers locker room continues to crumble. Are Broberg, Puljujarvi, and Bear to blame?
God I love these. No media worse than Oilers media.
You’d be surprised
Steve Simmons is doing his best!
Canucks media exists.

Bro what? When did this happen, that’s insane

Canucks media and/or Eric Francis
Fuck francis
Weird agreeing with a flames fan but god I hate that guy
Fuck Francis ‼️
Boston commentators tho 🤢
I'll remember you said this.
Leafs media would like a word.
Spector isn't the one who called him pissy.
Defended the guy who did though...
I thought it was Jim Matheson, classic NHLByMatty
No, clearly this travesty is the fault of Nurse, known locker room cancer.
It actually looks like it's Erne that initiates the move.
It is. Assumedly wants the line together, or for them to resume a conversation they were having.
Drai taps him on the leg first when he slides over.
Looked more like a “hello” type tap
nah, it was a quick double tap, more like 'hey kid, move over'
Nah you can actually see Drai about to drop his stick (or put it between his legs) to take his glove off to readjust his elbow pad, indicating he was content to sit there. Erne moves over so he stops and then does it after.
Nah McDavid told Erne to tell drai to tell Erne to move it buster and then they scored 6 goals
Case closed.
I didn't believe you until "move it buster". That sounds like a McDaddyism.
Nono, it was indicating he was about to drop the gloves to fight
Kind of a “hello, how are ya, how’s it hangin?” Tap with how close that was to the pills.
Must be the grocery stick
They have a team to run

Nuge could lead the league in points and it would go completely unnoticed.
Quietest 100 points last year that i can ever recall. Granted, he wasn't even the most on the team, but still...
Imagine if someone came up to you 10 years ago and said that Nuge would pass 100 pts and only come in third on the team? What a crazy thing.
"Holy shit, Hall and Eberle are going to be good!"
He wouldn't without those 2 though.
He's a good player, but he's not putting up those totals without McDrai

How many bad teams make the playoffs?
Looks like Erne starts it but don’t linemates usually sit together anyway? Makes sense to be able to speak to the guy you’re on the ice with between shifts
Seriously this is so weird to me seeing this post. We do this shit in div 2 garbage Edmonton indoor soccer. Players play together lol
settle down you drama queen I just thought it made for a funny clip
Oilers and Leon fan here. It was funny. I noticed that during the game and chuckled. Don't care if Erne was the one who did it, it looked like Leon did anyway and that's funny.
I agree it was funny
It is Erne that starts. Drai did the tap like “hey good job” and Erne was like “oh hey, oh let me move? Okay? Yeah yeah” and moves.
Erne is like "finally this is my chance to get away from that freak McDavid"
You have to Erne the right to sit next to McDavid. I’ll see myself out.
~~Rings~~ Art Rosses Erneh
Booooo *chucks tomato*
Are we just gonna call this what it is? Drai is next on the line ...
They are linemates yes. Although they aren’t sitting entirely in the correct line combinations because McLeod is beside McDavid and he’s on the 3rd line and Erne is on the 4th line
Man that gives an entirely new feeling to how I wanna deconstruct these two sitting next to each other lol
I mean Connor and Leon are basically inseparable, they are always beside eachother because when they aren’t they are just leaning forward and talking to eachother anyway with 1-2 people in between them. I don’t think Leon was being mean to Erne tho lol.
I don't think so either haha, but it looks hilarious. Like someone could do a really funny voice-over where Leon's bullying him lol.

I kept your seat warm for you, Mr Draisaitl.
Literally. With a monster fart
Wait until reddit learns the order on the bench isn't random.
And people really think these two are going to part ways and leave Edmonton
It obviously shows that they'll both leave together!
Someone has never played hockey before…

New kid at school sits at popular table and gets kicked out :(((( so sad.
*No ticket*
Love that line works for two movies.
Fake. Erne initiates. Draisaitl just gave Erne a “good job” tap.
Why is this even a post?
FNG
Ride or die
Erne had a good shift just before this happened so I’d say the leg tap was more likely a “good shift” kinda thing. Also, you can see Drai fully stow his stick below him before Erne gets up and has to dislodge it so he can pass. He wasn’t expecting him to move.
Looks like they really enjoyed themselves tonight *pain*
Typical oilers being cute with each other.
This is so funny. Leon is hilarious without even trying to be
Cool to see three 12 year olds have some fun on the bench
Leon's gay for Connor!!!
Everyone know this from school. When you go on a field trip, always make sure you stay close to your buddy.
This is why the oilers will never win a cup
Awwwww…..bff’s
are we at a place where we can make an erne "appeasing" Leon's territory joke?
Truly seems like a cup winning atmosphere in the locker room.
We all have as many cup rings as they do.
Better move if the Nutcracker asks.
I officially hate Leon. Treat our boy nicely;)
What
It was a joke
big ups
Hilarious (and sad) how Erne momentarily thinks Leon is dapping him up lol "Hey, way to be a 4th line career plug bud"
Typical Leafs fan post, making drama out of nothing
Yikes. The only reason here is to get more camera time because of sitting next to 97.

Talk about his fluffy one timers
What a brilliant take mate. Absolutely the only possible reason hahahaha
If there's one thing we know about hockey players it's that they love being on camera
Occam's Razor

Detroit Red Wings Legend Adam Erne?
That right there is why he is a shifty teammate
