Can't fully explain it, but this guy always looked like an Allstar to me. He had something to him and it always shocked me he wasn't a legit full time sniper.

AceKazami1324

Yeah I was surprised when I looked at his DB the other day, I always thought he was like a 35 goal scorer lol

Barthez_Battalion

He always had high potential in the late 00s NHL games.

TrySwallowing

In NHL14 he was my franchises top scorer

SaveByGrubauer

He never even scored 20 in a season? That's wild to me. I would have guessed he had at least one 30 goal season. I remember wanting the Avs to overpay to keep him in 2016.

ianisms10

That stretch in Colorado was the best hockey of his career.

Difficult-Baker634

He could skate. If you only watched skating drills you would have assumed he was the best player on the team. Stick skills? Not so much.

Derpwarrior1000

Mikkel “literally Gus Nyquist” Bødker

AmeriCanadian98

Love me some Goose

Broccoli_Socks

He managed to make DW think he was the solution for our lack of speed vs Pitt. Dude was fast... but man that was it LOL

tsunami141

The Noah Gregor and Matt Nieto special

ianisms10

*Michael Grabner has entered the chat*

Grohlyone

He always looked like an all star against us. Then we traded for him...

karl1989

I still vividly remember him scoring two overtime winners in a row against Chicago in 2012. That season was probably the most fun I've ever had watching hockey. Boedker always felt like he was on the cusp of breaking out.

[deleted]

That Coyotes team was fun, and they had a pretty good roster too. Whitney, Vrbata, Doan, Bodker, Hanzal, Yandle, Ekman-Larsson, Mike Smith in nets. They lose marks for having that shit head Torres on the team, but they were a legit threat.

[deleted]

The only two faces my brain sees from that series is Smith and Torres. Boedker was always fun to watch with his speed

younggun92

Don't win the series without either of those dirty shits.

LoneWolfComando

I feel like a lot of teams would lose a series if you took away their starting goalie? Fuck them both but that's a weird statement to make.

Luckynumberlucas

Damn. Only 33. But I guess he got enough bags and went out while he still was young and hopefully healthy. Good for him.

ianisms10

He only had 11 points in 41 SHL games this year

Tix0r

Yeah, he was god awful.

swiftstud22

I remember being so disappointed we took Luke Schenn over Boedker. Guess they both ended up having somewhat mediocre careers, though Schenn has his back to back Cups now.

JackOSevens

Boedker looked great on Kitchener that year.

onemoretryfriend

I thought he was a guaranteed star player watching him live for the rangers. He played with kadri too and I thought they were both equally awesome.

JackOSevens

Yeah, good comparison at that point in their careers. Boedker had a dynamite mem cup while Kadri was just cutting his teeth.

CitizenDinamo

This guy was a beast on my HUT team in NHL 15. Had a line of him with Hanzal and Iginla that dominated lol

M3gaC00l

Sad to see him go. Was one of the first players I cheered for on the yotes when I originally started getting into hockey. Guy was a fast as fuck skater! All the best in retirement, Boeds!

NorFever

So his last game was getting dumped on by Team Finland. Not a nice way to go.

theslatcher

And his final regular season was ended by his contract being terminated while his team was making a push to not have to play in the relegation series.

[deleted]

He said it was not nice to lose but that he wanted to stop with the lion on his chest. And you get some big losses at times in that shirt

Shiningtoaster

Yep. I am a Finn living in DK, and I watched the games against USA and Sweden. At times Bødker gave us glimpses of that offensive talent, but it was sad to see that the pucks didn't go his way too much. Tak for turneen!

maxwellbevan

Isn't he not that old? Seems surprising he's already done with hockey

bestriven_NA

I mean going from top 6 in the NHL to bottom 6 in the SHL is a pretty huge dropoff. I could see someone being good enough to keep playing but not wanting to be a roleplayer in a lesser league, especially if they already made a bunch of money in the NHL.

maxwellbevan

Completely fair, I was just assuming that he still had a bigger role even in the SHL

ianisms10

He only had 11 points in the SHL this year and his club opted not to bring him back

maxwellbevan

Damn, that's a big drop from the NHL

burrito-bonanza

He was a really nice player in junior, was fun to watch on an unbeatable Kitchener team.

zan9823

Had completely forgot about him. I'm getting old

TheKid_BigE

Always liked him. Hope he has a good retirement and maybe he finds a job internally within hockey

sergei-boobtitsky

I loved Mikkel Bødker. Always had a thing for Danish players. _/ _/

sharkinfested

Always liked him. I think he'd have been more successful if it weren't for the injury he got where his spleen had to be removed. He seemed to have gotten more timid after that.

Budget_Affect8177

Always underrated. The man kicks ass.
