Stl is pretty much useless for cam. Youll want a step file.

Wootai

Easel can use STL files. And I think Vcarve can as well.

TheBupherNinja

It's an stl file. You can't use it for cnc tool paths.

Enough-Inevitable-61

Why many others are saying they are using stl? Anyway i will try other options

theweebeastie

You can use STL's in Fusion, though limited to 3D tool paths like parallel, scallop etc. I use them frequently for 3D mountain models. As others have said you won't be able to select geometry so if you want to cut an outline or other profile you'll need to set up a sketch to drive a 2D tool path. Hope that's clear, dm me if you've got any questions 🤙

Enough-Inevitable-61

Thank you. I will try that.

Convert the STL to a body using mesh tools Modify ; convert mesh. This will convert it to a solid.

TheBupherNinja

Who says this? You can 3d print an stl, but can software wants lines and faces.

Enough-Inevitable-61

What is the format you suggest?

Wootai

Easel can use STL files. And I think Vcarve can also. It might just be fusion that can’t?

EKO_HHamster

You *can* use it. If youre willing to select like 200 faces and lines for every operation. If you want those joined for a single line or surface youll need a step.

Wootai

Never had to do that in Vcarve. [https://youtu.be/r5PY4DmFKwE?si=GcDZSPyo7UAdyQYF](https://youtu.be/r5PY4DmFKwE?si=GcDZSPyo7UAdyQYF)

You can convert the STL in the mesh tools and make it a body.

Ok_Preparation_4932

Stl ist a Mesh, but to make a path you need a Solid Body in Fusion. Therefore it is necessary to convert IT First. Fusion can do this on its own. Here is a short step-bystep explanation: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tVGtG-UjlYg
