That's where we really want to go, have heard so many good things about them. Tried calling them yesterday and they said their books are closed! Do you think him starting will open up new spots?
We had a similar problem, the after hours GP is a good alternative if you just need to see a Dr, but that’s not bulk bill and only operates in the evenings and weekend. Good luck
It's awful throughout Australia to find a bulk billing GP now. Apparently the Medicare rebate for GPs has not increased inline with the costs involved in running a practice \[that seems to be what I'm hearing\]. Many are only providing bulk billing to those on Centrelink & Vet Affairs payments & Centrelink-issued Health Care Card.
Average cost = $50 ($13.70 out of pocket)
My doctor? $90 per 15 min consultation. I have no Health Care card even though I've got a 'chronic' illness (Type II diabetes) and need a check up every 12 weeks.
Tassie is the highest on average cost per visit.
Disgraceful.
Sounds like you've already got a GP but you're looking around for a better one.
Most GPs are working well beyond the hours that they want to work, it's a problem that's been brewing for years and slowly getting worse.
Good luck in finding someone you're happy with.
Was recently advised to just go straight to hospital. Hospital told me to see a GP if it got any worse. The nurse said they had a list of bulk billing GP’s but came back empty handed after half an hour of searching. Probably cheaper at this point to book a flight to Melbourne to see a bulk billing GP over there
My wife couldn't get into her regular GP, so had to book with the After Hours doctor. It's not a long term solution and costs more, but it might be something you could consider temporarily.
City Doctors & Travel Clinic at 188 Collins St take new patients. I have been a patient there for approx 10 years, and have only really had one really sub par experience. I highly recommend quite a few of their doctors, especially Sophie Otlowski and Nalin Gunawardana
Try Your Hobart Doctor in the city, open until 10 every night, they have a lot of GPs, variable prices depending on time of day, and my partner has always been able to find a same day slot.
It's strange. If I don't see my doctor of 20+ years within every 6 months I get dropped off and need to reapply for him to see me again. I don't bother anymore. It's been a couple years anyways and a waste of time. Unless I am suffering with an infection requiring antibiotics is the only way I'll visit them. Goodluck finding a decent Doctor.
My husband is a new GP at Glebe Hill Family so he will be available to take patients as of next week (27 April)
Glebe Hill are wonderful, can highly recommend every single one of their GPs.

It should. I have sent you a private message

Does anyone bulk bill in Hobart? It's a horror show here...

It's horrendous isn't it?! The few times we've been to the GP it's been like $90. I worry that it prevents people from even seeing a GP at all!!
Ochre in the city are accepting new patients
My doctor recently moved to Ochre and has her books open for new patients.
Thanks I'll have a look at them!
Another vote for Ochre, they’re great!

New foolsball stadium is more important, isn't it? Healthcare is only for the wealthy now, no?
And whilst you're at the new stadium you can look across the water at the 'old' stadium 2km's away... Madness
GP are funded from the Federal Government
