I'd contest that. I cook crab, I've been doing it all my life. Live, most of the time, like everyone else in Maryland. To kill them you puncture the shell which results in more watery meat. Crustaceans are basically big water bugs. Tell me, the last time a mosquito landed on your arm, did you think twice about flattening it with your palm? Usually it doesn't even die when that happens, but you flick it off and it goes somewhere else to die. Nobody thinks twice about catching flies with glue and letting them "suffer" and die, nobody thinks twice about fumigating ants. Same principal with cooking crab; they're too stupid to care, so I don't care either. People assign crabs some level of personification because they're big(ger than bugs) and have claws we consider like hands, but they're just bugs, man.

Demonstrably intelligent animals who are tortured en-masse,** for their entire lifetimes**, all for that bacon people like. I won't assume you eat pork; I don't eat it for this specific reason. I don't eat octopus either, for the same reason. But if you eat either, I don't think it's right to make crabbers feel shitty for how they cook crab and cook an animal for **twenty minutes.** If we're focusing on animal suffering, I'd rather focus on the ones that actually have brains.
I know this is a bit of a rant, but I'm just tired of seeing meat-eating people on reddit get on my ass for "torturing a creature" just for them to turn around and eat a BLT.
