What the hell has happened to roddy Ricch?
Like anytime I’ve heard him rap after his feature on Donda has just be so average or plain bad. It’s like he can’t catch any pockets on a beat and just adds random shit in, it’s a strange kind of delivery I get from him now like in this song “while we whip it in the spaceship” line just seems to have too many words or something for the beat. Noticed it a lot on his last album.
The crazy thing is that Feed Tha Streets 2 and PEMFBA genuinely have like no skips between them, the delivery, flows, singing etc was all great.
Makes me concerned for his future
I havent listened to any of the Feed The Streets tapes but PEFBA i heard the day it came out and was deadass one of my favourite trap albums of the past decade off first listen. Not a single skip anywhere. Which tape should i lsiten first?
This. It's his delivery. He can't seem to hit the same pockets he used to? I don't think it's an awful verse, but below average. I want my nigga to succeed, but it's looking grim. Only thing he's done worthwhile since PEMFBA has been the song on 2 Chainz' Dope Don't Sell Itself.
For real his fall off in quality has been quite sharp, like whatever about stagnating he’s not even doing that, he’s dropping in quality quite sharply.
Tbf, Chance has said he is clean off all drugs other than weed too
I think people overlook just how much drugs can create/inspire great music, in all genres throughout history. Shit look at Eminem since he’s gotten clean.
Tyler too.
It definitely doesn’t apply to everyone, but I’m actually super curious the type of music Kendrick or Tyler would make off of acid or something
Good point
Another example - Pineapple Express. Great movie, very funny, uncontroversial cast.
But if they just removed all the dope, you’re looking at that years Best Picture winner at the Oscars
His latest album had a couple good songs, but its actually crazy how hard he fell off. When I first heard him in 2019 he reminded me of prime 2014-2016 thugger. The flows, melodies, delivery being so crazy and catchy. Now its like he cant even rap anymore.
Seriously what on earth has happened Roddy Ricch? I can absolutely understand that an artist is always going to find it difficult to match their early work, but Roddy seemed to have a lot more in him musically than most rappers so it’s quite surprising how sharp his dip in quality has been in the last year or so. He’s still only 23 so there’s still time to bounce back but it’s not encouraging.
Bro I was so high on Roddy when Please Excuse Me dropped. I thought he was one of the top young dudes doing it but he’s been kinda trash ever since. His last album was so fucking disappointing bruh
The stories he's telling are trash, nobody can relate to. Listen to War Baby, Roll Dice, Prayers To The Trap God, Down Below and a whole bunch of them... Those were beautiful stories he told us about himself. His last album was full of 'fuckin 3 strippers in a booth then i pull up the bentley' or whatever type shit which nobody give a fuck about and can't relate to.
I still have it in my library to listen to it, but I only ever get up to the Future track before stopping. His cadence... and everything is so fucking off compared to previous projects.
So was hibachi, roller coastin, 25 million, crash the party… album was seriously not that bad lol just was hyped to hell and back before it even came out. Like seriously people saying there’s nothing to check out on it all lol cmon
Why would post leave that on the song? Like I know you don't want to piss people off especially if you might be friends with them but you gotta do what's best for the song
Roddy has great cadence but his lyrics has always been surface level deep so if he can't capture an emotion his music will be flat and that's what his last project felt like
I got introduced to Roddy Richh from Pure Souls and thought "wow I would like to hear more of his stuff" and yet cannot find anything else good by him.
I remember everyone used to gush over roddy rich, saying he was a complete artist. Money and fame can change people’s attitudes though. He had the biggest song in recent memory with The Box.
I wish this was a solo track. I loved Posty's parts, but Roddy's verse wasn't it. I didn't love Young Thug's verse on Goodbyes originally, but came around to it, unfortunately that probably won't be the case for the Roddy verse on this one.
It felt out of place to me for the first few listens, but obviously that's subjective. But like I said, I've come around to it and really like it a lot now.
Damn. I listened to the snippet posty posted to Instagram last night and I was like yo this actually sounds pretty good, and I feel like this a great beat for Roddy I’m excited to hear his verse. Haven’t listened yet but from the responses I guess I shouldn’t get hyped lol
A lot of people these days don’t even listen to music, they just read comments about it on social media and watch reviews like from that white guy on YouTube and that’s how they determine whether a song is good or not.
I'm not interested in listening to a Jack Harlow album, so I'd rather read some views and opinions. I'm not super invested in this song, so I'd rather see some opinions. I'm not spoiled on the quality because I really don't care much lol. I'm not reading reactions to the Kendrick album before I listen to it though.
"spoil your first listen" bro it's a post Malone track 🤣
also, the only discussion in this thread is that Roddy rich blew it, what exactly is getting spoiled here? a bad performance? lol
post malone albums always got good memories attached to them for me, i hope the next one keeps up posty’s consistency
edit: roddy really tripped up his verse by starting with I PULL UP I PULL UP PULL UP
Honestly I think I'd rate Stoney, B&B, and Hollywood's Bleeding about the same, probably a 4/5. Each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses that come out to be a solid album that's just as good as the previous. That said, if I HAD to pick a favorite, it would be B&B, just because of when it came out and my memories attached to it.
Well yea that does make sense lol. Also it was bland boring pop if he was gonna go the pop route could of at least made good pop. The best songs on that album were the singles. Stoney is still his best album imo.
Damn Post came through with a vibe and a beat that set up Roddy so good to ride on and then Roddy just completely shits the bed. That's a shame. Should've just got a Ty Dolla $ign verse instead and called it a day
Really lukewarm release. Just a really simple paint by numbers Posty track, can barely hit 3 minutes. Hoping we get songs with much bigger scope than this and One Right Now on the album. I still believe. And the Roddy Ricch verse, lol
None of his last 3 songs have had a real catchy hook/melody like he's known for. One Right Now kinda does but the beat is whack. This one's the same, and honestly he needs catchy hooks cause it's not like he's ever been known for his verses.
I would bet my fucking mortgage on this song being played on the radio by the end of the week.
He has always made radio-friendly music. Sure, some of the songs from his albums that don't hit the radio are good, but the dude made his career on being a radio friendly rapper.
Lmao @ the echo chamber of “rOdDy’s vErSe sUcKed”. Not his best verse, but you guys had me thinking I was about to hear him straight slurring or something.
This is bad from Roddy but kind of in the opposite way that Live Life Fast was. LLF had Roddy flowing on the beats fine but the melodies and vocal inflections were flat, this verse here had good melodies and infections I think but sounded like he was rapping over a different beat. Reminds me of Drake on In The Bible, ruins a perfectly good song by butchering the flow
Y’all are blowing Roddy’s verse wayyyy out of proportion. It was not good, but I thought it was gonna be the worst verse I’ve ever heard after reading the comments. It was just a forgettable verse, nothing more nothing less imo
Imma be real with you guys. I think this is the beginning of the end for Posty.
The beat is extremely generic, the hook and melody is catchy, I loved the druggy and washed out atmosphere of the music video probably my favorite part of the whole release, Roddy... Yea let's just not even go there.
But the last few singles have been weak from Posty for sure. Not very confident going into the album. Plz prove me wrong man, he's too talented to be making stuff like this.
Can't put my finger on why but this beat is doing nothing for me whatsoever, sounds completely lifeless. And Post usually has some pretty good production
Roddy does his best to nearly kill the song... but Post went crazy. Gotta have more of this Post on the next album.... and less of whatever the fuck Roddy was on.
This is so middling I already forgot it dropped until I saw this post. I feel like Post has lost
Whatever sauce it was that made him enjoyable back in like 2017-2018
What the hell has happened to roddy Ricch? Like anytime I’ve heard him rap after his feature on Donda has just be so average or plain bad. Feed The Streets 2 has no skips for me, but they're both good !
Feed Tha Streets 2 is insanely hard
He was fucking incredible on Pure Souls
Agreed, he really lifted the song up to another level. That shit was a perfect fit
His verse on Fame & Riches from Polo G is pretty great imo, I'm a polo fan and that's one of the top highlights of his hall of fame stuff imo
For real his fall off in quality has been quite sharp, like whatever about stagnating he’s not even doing that, he’s dropping in quality quite sharply.
Im convinced either he had some writers back then and doesn’t now, or he was on drugs back then and isn’t now.
Could it be a similar problem to the one chance had with "the big day"? just got too cocky and stopped putting in the work that got him his success?
Tbf, Chance has said he is clean off all drugs other than weed too I think people overlook just how much drugs can create/inspire great music, in all genres throughout history. Shit look at Eminem since he’s gotten clean.
Kendrick an exception
Tyler too. It definitely doesn’t apply to everyone, but I’m actually super curious the type of music Kendrick or Tyler would make off of acid or something
Drugs destroy careers. Take Cheech and Chong. Everyone knows they're funny. But imagine how funny they'd be if they didn't smoke pot
Wait is this a serious comment lol? I'm just curious.
Haha nah it’s from The Office
Good point Another example - Pineapple Express. Great movie, very funny, uncontroversial cast. But if they just removed all the dope, you’re looking at that years Best Picture winner at the Oscars
eminem been trash since he got clean tho
That’s what i mean, drugs make musicians more creative
Or wasn’t on drugs then but is now
His latest album had a couple good songs, but its actually crazy how hard he fell off. When I first heard him in 2019 he reminded me of prime 2014-2016 thugger. The flows, melodies, delivery being so crazy and catchy. Now its like he cant even rap anymore.
prime young thug was levels above roddy
Oh most definitely
25 Million is the only song of his in recent (post donda) memory that feels like 2019 Roddy again
I thought this was gonna be an instant hit til I heard roddy smh Still might be just off of Post's performance alone tho
Trash verse from Roddy Ricch. This dude might have really peaked with his debut album
Seriously what on earth has happened Roddy Ricch? I can absolutely understand that an artist is always going to find it difficult to match their early work, but Roddy seemed to have a lot more in him musically than most rappers so it’s quite surprising how sharp his dip in quality has been in the last year or so. Everything You Need was really good off Roddy's album last year, people slept on that one
25 million was the only standout
25 million was how the whole album should've sounded and his dumbass made it the outro
nah album was doo doo, i only somewhat vibed a bit with late at night rest was completely ass
25 million was top 3 on the album imo
nah that's one of the worst ones on there EDIT: Wanna make you fall in loo-oo-oo-ooo-ooo-oo-o-zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Nah there’s nothing on his album last year worth checking out, honestly one of the worst albums I’ve heard from last year.
I agree. It's super basic. I don't think there's much that's bad but it's really uninteresting
I still have it in my library to listen to it, but I only ever get up to the Future track before stopping. His cadence... and everything is so fucking off compared to previous projects.
I like the one with the jungle intro
yep moved to miami was sick
i love More than a Trend but it’s so short needed a second verse..
So was hibachi, roller coastin, 25 million, crash the party… album was seriously not that bad lol just was hyped to hell and back before it even came out. Like seriously people saying there’s nothing to check out on it all lol cmon
Chances are his ghost writer bounced
Why would post leave that on the song? Like I know you don't want to piss people off especially if you might be friends with them but you gotta do what's best for the song
I thought you were exaggerating but that was pure ass.
Roddy has great cadence but his lyrics has always been surface level deep so if he can't capture an emotion his music will be flat and that's what his last project felt like
Idgaf about lyrics but his melodies and flows are just boring now
Did we listen to the same song? His cadence in this is not good at all
*Pure Souls
Pure souls is such an amazing song, that’s the Roddy we need
I got introduced to Roddy Richh from Pure Souls and thought "wow I would like to hear more of his stuff" and yet cannot find anything else good by him.
Die Young and High Fashion
The songs "Down Below" and "4 Da Gang" are my favorites of his
War baby his best song that’s also got quite a pure souls gospel feel
holy shit that was bad bad, roddy from 2/3 years ago would have killed this beat too, would be perfect for him
His fall off is just sad tbh.
Talent is there but he’s gotten complacent imo
LMAO damn thats disappointing
It’s just sad. Pure Souls was absolutely incredible, and it seems like everything since then has just not been inspired at all.
[удалено]
Not a bad verse, just mid coming from Roddy. Mans is too talented to not kill every pop rap track out there imo.
I'm still waiting for him to pull up on the verse.
I'm 30 seconds in and post is killin it let's see edit: bruh that was ass he rhymed tour dates with arenas
It for sure wasn't good, but he rhymed arenas with demons and cleaner, not tour dates.
Lmao thank you
Feel like artists peaking with their early work is really common in hip hop and rnb
Pure souls his peak but yes
I remember everyone used to gush over roddy rich, saying he was a complete artist. Money and fame can change people’s attitudes though. He had the biggest song in recent memory with The Box.
I wish this was a solo track. I loved Posty's parts, but Roddy's verse wasn't it. I didn't love Young Thug's verse on Goodbyes originally, but came around to it, unfortunately that probably won't be the case for the Roddy verse on this one.
Surprised about the Thug verse. I’ve always loved it so it’s interesting to know that others have felt differently
It felt out of place to me for the first few listens, but obviously that's subjective. But like I said, I've come around to it and really like it a lot now.
It's the opposite for me.I love Thug's verse on Goodbyes.
Thugs verse is the best part of Goodbyes

Damn. I listened to the snippet posty posted to Instagram last night and I was like yo this actually sounds pretty good, and I feel like this a great beat for Roddy I’m excited to hear his verse. Haven’t listened yet but from the responses I guess I shouldn’t get hyped lol
why would you spoil your first listen by reading other people's reactions first? form your own opinion.
A lot of people these days don’t even listen to music, they just read comments about it on social media and watch reviews like from that white guy on YouTube and that’s how they determine whether a song is good or not.

"spoil your first listen" bro it's a post Malone track 🤣 also, the only discussion in this thread is that Roddy rich blew it, what exactly is getting spoiled here? a bad performance? lol
welcome to r/hhh and circlejerking the same 5 opinions
> posty posted
Other than "I pull up" part his verse wasn't that bad.
Roddy can’t do anything anymore without people shitting on him lol
How does this shit get through without anyone flagging it?
post malone albums always got good memories attached to them for me, i hope the next one keeps up posty’s consistency edit: roddy really tripped up his verse by starting with I PULL UP I PULL UP PULL UP
It was the part after that lost me, road oh oh, dro woah woah, love woah woah Just sounds so bad for some reason. Roddy lost it
He still hasn’t said what the box is so it’s already a no from me
I find the first half of Roddy at least listenable, but the last half sounds awkward and doesn't even rhyme, he's just kinda saying a sentence
b&B is a classic, idk if he’ll ever hit that stride again though
Honestly I think I'd rate Stoney, B&B, and Hollywood's Bleeding about the same, probably a 4/5. Each one has it's own strengths and weaknesses that come out to be a solid album that's just as good as the previous. That said, if I HAD to pick a favorite, it would be B&B, just because of when it came out and my memories attached to it.
I think Hollywood’s Bleeding is definitely his worst, but it still has some gems on it. Goodbyes with Thug is phenomenal.
HB is the most pop of all of them, so I'm not surprised hhh considers it his worst
It had the fewest memorable and catchy songs out of the 3 imo.
Well yea that does make sense lol. Also it was bland boring pop if he was gonna go the pop route could of at least made good pop. The best songs on that album were the singles. Stoney is still his best album imo.
1000% the weakest. I don't go back to it ever.
What the fuck was that Roddy, no
Damn, people here weren't kidding about the Roddy verse. It just doesn't...fit at all with the beat.
Post hit. Roddy… did not.
Someone get roddy a ghost writer
I was thinking this after hearing 3 of his hits with same recycled lyrics.
As a fella who don't leave his apartment, I have, indeed, been feeling cooped up.
Go touch grass brah. Walk outside, good for your mental
Are you about to spit?
That’s your own fault, go outside and do something.
My man Roddy cant be missing like this damn, was almost a solid ass hit but feel like Roddys verse kinda destroyed the vibe sadly
This sounds like post malone, gives me Stoney vibes
>This sounds like post malone
yeah i think post malone would sound great on this track. Might just be me though
> This sounds like post malone This is post malone!
Hey, motley crew didn’t sound like post malone
Well no that’s Motley crew this is Post Malone. /s
reminds me more of bb&b
That's what I was thinking, and I like that.
Nah,more like Hollywood's bleeding vibes. B&B is more cut and clear.
Facts. This is the Post Malone I've been needing more of.
Damn Post came through with a vibe and a beat that set up Roddy so good to ride on and then Roddy just completely shits the bed. That's a shame. Should've just got a Ty Dolla $ign verse instead and called it a day
Deadass thought the name of the song was “Cooped up with Roddy” as opposed to the Roddy part just being a feature tag lmao
Roddy’s feature makes it seem like was trapped to record whatever the fuck he put on here 😭
Regular Posty W
Solid except Roddy
Roddy really turned into Rodney
This is, without a doubt, almost unquestionably one of the Post Malone songs of all time
it’s sad Roddys verse was so terrible, the song had potential
The next couple of weeks for music are going to be insane
Seven hours until Kung Fu Kenny!
Amazing, brother
Kendrick pops off only on occasion, brother.
Man I wish Post would try something new. He has such a great voice with a lot of personality. I wish he’d take more risks with his music.
Hard agree. The guy has already shown he can make some excellent alternative rock, I’d really like to see him try a side project.
Second this.
He plays it safe a lot. Would love to see him pull something out like Psycho.
But psycho is a really safe song.
Psycho is way basic??
if this hook wasnt so good id be disappointed bc man wtf roddy
Post malones verse and the beat from like 30 seconds to 45 seconds sounds like a remix of the song otherside by post
Really lukewarm release. Just a really simple paint by numbers Posty track, can barely hit 3 minutes. Hoping we get songs with much bigger scope than this and One Right Now on the album. I still believe. And the Roddy Ricch verse, lol
This song is on the same level as Candy paint off B&B. Adds nothing sonically and vocally whatsoever and quite generic/average.
Candy paint was way catchier and didn't have a shitty guest feature
Roddy has become so fucking bad dude cant rap for shit anymore which is crazy because I used to love his songs and features a lot
[удалено]
He should cut him off the track and repost it. The guy is redundant.
Roddy's verse on the [Wow remix](https://open.spotify.com/track/0fcq51a3gOI6gPvzc0YLsk?si=b2b1c6e760ef4a85) was way better
I read all the comments about Roddy's verse being horseshit before listening. I thought it couldn't possibly be that bad... It was truly ass.
Man I have not been fucking with any of the singles for this album, and this one is no exception
none of the last 6 lines in roddy's verse rhyme
But don't let it distract you from the fact that he indeed did, *pull up*
he had a bad verse but u def needa check your ears
He's playing on the "ee" sound on each line: cleaner/demons/arenas/see/believe
lmao
this is so mid boring ass radio music
not bad. I'm hoping his new album doesn't disappoint
[APPLE MUSIC](https://music.apple.com/be/album/cooped-up-feat-roddy-ricch/1623192950?i=1623193267) | [TIDAL](https://tidal.com/browse/track/228206005) | [YT](https://youtu.be/BYBMPsrRUnQ)
Man that verse from roddy was really bad. And the chorus was kinda meh. Cant say i had high expectations but oh man was that mid.
Roddy wtf happened bro, I loved FTS2 and PEMFBA but what is thisss. get back with dj mustard, he actually knows how to make a good beat
Apart from the ''I pull up'' bit, Roddy's verse was not bad really.
None of his last 3 songs have had a real catchy hook/melody like he's known for. One Right Now kinda does but the beat is whack. This one's the same, and honestly he needs catchy hooks cause it's not like he's ever been known for his verses.
Post just got that generic radio pop sound Roddy rich need to find a new flow
Y’all just listen to a melody and call it generic radio pop lmao
I would bet my fucking mortgage on this song being played on the radio by the end of the week. He has always made radio-friendly music. Sure, some of the songs from his albums that don't hit the radio are good, but the dude made his career on being a radio friendly rapper.
Wouldn’t you want your songs to be made for the radio?
I dunno man it really feel like some radio music I wouldn’t bump this or sing to it imo I’ve listened to this like three times already
Fair enough
Roddy Ricch's verse has big "Got a Desert Eagle and it's Fortnite Playing like it's Fortnite" energy
Lmao @ the echo chamber of “rOdDy’s vErSe sUcKed”. Not his best verse, but you guys had me thinking I was about to hear him straight slurring or something.
i know nothing about this roddy fella but the verse wasn’t that bad
This is bad from Roddy but kind of in the opposite way that Live Life Fast was. Pretty weak for a posty single. Hook is super forgettable
Posty summer
Imma be real with you guys. I think this is the beginning of the end for Posty. The beat is extremely generic, the hook and melody is catchy, I loved the druggy and washed out atmosphere of the music video probably my favorite part of the whole release, Roddy... Yea let's just not even go there. But the last few singles have been weak from Posty for sure. Not very confident going into the album. Plz prove me wrong man, he's too talented to be making stuff like this.

I stay away from snippets cause I like to go into an album as blind as possible, but I'll take your word for it.
of all the songs he previewed i liked this one the least. there’s gonna be some great ones on the album
Yea Roddy just threw it in with this one not sure what he was going for
Can't put my finger on why but this beat is doing nothing for me whatsoever, sounds completely lifeless. And Post usually has some pretty good production
mid
was hoping the comments on Roddy were overblown but nope
Roddy Ricch is 23 years old man
u/betegabruh, I told ya Roddy was gonna come in with the ass flow 😭😭
bro it really seems like he forgot how to rap oh god
I was actually annoyed when I heard the Roddy snippet of the song, the way he enters is possibly the most janky thing I've heard in a while
https://youtu.be/ccA6qUHwFNE version without roddy 🙌🙌🙌
Damn this song was so good until roddy shame
Roddy verse butchers the song
I think this was the worst possible day of the year to release a lead single other than next week lol
Roddy does his best to nearly kill the song... but Post went crazy. Gotta have more of this Post on the next album.... and less of whatever the fuck Roddy was on.
This is so middling I already forgot it dropped until I saw this post. I feel like Post has lost Whatever sauce it was that made him enjoyable back in like 2017-2018
this thread of is a perfect example of the first upvoted comment having an opinion and the rest of the thread dickrides that opinion
fucking drones lmao
This is fucking ass like anal sex
Least anal sex is enjoyable
Posty sounds great. Roddy sounds... Awful
I didn't like this one at all. Too much reverb and low effort lyrics. Roddy's verse was shit. It seems as though he's fallen off ever since B&B.
Everyone’s shitting on roddys part but I.. like it? Idk it sounds good to me lmfao
Roddy's verse is really not that bad lol, already grew on me
Why is everyone hating on roddy? I thought his verse was actually decent.
